Regarding different types of mappings

Hello,
In sap XI we have different kinds of mapping techniques. At most we can perform all kind of mappings in graphical mapping only. Then specifically why do we need to go ABAP mapping or Java mapping or XSLT mappings? So far I have seen some of the blogs. In every blog some one is explaining about the how to do java mapping or Abap mapping or Xslt mapping, But not clear to why do we go for these mapping techniques. for every mapping technique there might be a reason to follow that technique. So could you please help me on this issue.
Thank you

Hello Jyotsna,
In Real Time out most of our requirements through graphical mappings only.
Diffarent types of Mapping's....
1)  MESSAGE MAPPING
2 ) ABAP MAPPING
3 ) JAVA MAPPING
4 ) XSLT MAPPING

ABAP mappings run on ABAP Stack and are developed in the ABAP workbench of the Integration Server.
You normally do not need to use the ABAP mappings and is preferable for someone with ABAP programming background. I should say JAVA functions would suffice any complex scenarios.

  • Different types of mapping techics

    hi expects,
       please provide some mapping technics.

    Rohit,
It depends upon the requirements. So after going through your requirements you will decide which type of mapping you want to use. Subsequently you will develop the mapping.

  • Mapping a message in different types of messages depending field value

    Hi gurus!
I need your help!, I need to create a scenario where I receive a message with a JMS adapter, for which I define an outbound service interface type, but depending on the value of a field (interface) to map in order to create different service inbound interface type.
For example, I get the MT that is associated with a Service Interface SI_OUT:
    <MT_TRX>
       <interface> 101 </ Interface>
       <message>
             nombre="AVISO"> <campo 8500070609 </ field>
             nombre="ESTADO"> <campo PCDS </ field>
       </ MESSAGE>
    </ MT_TRX>
As the interface has the value 101 with a Message Mapping I want to create the Service Interface SI_IN_101 whit message type MT_101.
If interface = 102, the Service Interface should be SI_IN_102 and message type_102... etc.
Can be mapped to different types of Service Interface, need different Operations?
Thank you very much for your help, I don't know how to solve the problem!

    Hi Veronica,
There are two clear options to approach the solution: be it 7.11 or earlier
    1. Go for 1..Onbounded Operation mapping. In your operation mapping on the target side add the different inbound interfaces. You have to define seperate message mappings for each of your target message types and use them in the operation mapping.
    2. The rather simplistic solution would be to go for conditional interface determination. A well know approach, if you have multiple interfaces to be mapped from a single interface for the same receiver system. Define seperate Message and Operation mappings for each of your Inbound Interfaces and then in Integration Directory use conditional Interface determination to call the appropriate operation mapping based on the condition checking on input payload (XPath).
I will strongly suggest the second option for better maintainability and monitoring of your interface.
You certainly dont need multiple operations, that's for different purpose altoghether

  • How many types of mappings in sap xi

    hi,
how many types of mappings in sap xi,what are there can u explain me
    bye
    phenix

    hi suresh,
There are 4 types of mapping in XI
    1. Graphical
    2. XSLT
    3. java
    4. ABAP.
There is no hard and fast rule for using the mapping techniques. But, I will try to put things in the right perspective for you.
Graphical Mapping is used for simple mapping cases. When, the logic for your mapping is simple and straight forward and it does not involve any complex logic.
Java and XSLT mapping are used when graphical mapping cannot help you.
When the choice is between Java And XSLT, XSLT is simpler than java mapping and easier. But, it has its drawbacks. One among them being that you cannot use Java APIs and Classes in it. There might be cases in your mapping when you will have to perfrom something like a properties file look up or a DB lookup, such scenarios are not possible in XSLT and so, when you want to use some specific Java API's you will have to go for Java Mapping.
Java Mapping uses 2 types of parsers. DOM and SAX. DOM is easier to use with lots of classes to help you create nodes and elements, but , DOM is very processor intensive.
SAX parser is something that parses your XML one after the other, and so is not processor intensive. But, it is not exaclty easy to develop either.

It has a list of the algorithms, which are pretty disappointing, I must say. No Random Forests? No ensembling methods? Given that it's using R algorithms, I must say this is a missed opportunity to beat products like SPSS and SAS at their own game. If SAP were to include this functionality, they would be the only BI vendor capable of having a serious predictive tool integrated with the rest of the platform.... but this looks pretty weak.
I can only hope a later release will remedy this - or maybe the SDK will allow me to create what I need.
As things stand, I could built a random forest using this tool, but I would have to use a lot of hardcoded SQL to make it happen. And if I wanted to go down that road, I could use the algorithms that come with the Microsoft/Oracle software.
    Please let me be wrong........

  • What are the different types of exits available?

    hi all,
Can any explain different types of exits ? user exit ? menu exit etc?
can anyone explain me each exit with an real time scenario
    regds
    hari

    <b>Types of Exits  </b>
There are several different types of user exits. Each of these exits acts as hooks where you can attach or "hang" your own add-ons.
    <b>Menu Exits </b>
Menu exits add items to the pulldown menus in standard SAP applications. You can use these menu items to call up your own screens or to trigger entire add-on applications.
SAP creates menu exits by defining special menu items in the Menu Painter. These special entries have function codes that begin with "+" (a plus sign). You specify the menu item’s text when activating the item in an add-on project.
    <b>Screen Exits</b>
Screen exits add fields to screens in R/3 applications. SAP creates screen exits by placing special subscreen areas on a standard R/3 screen and calling a customer subscreen from the standard screen’s flow logic.
    <b>Function Module Exits</b>
Function module exits add functions to R/3 applications. Function module exits play a role in both menu and screen exits.
When you add a new menu item to a standard pull down menu, you use a function module exit to define the actions that should take place once your menu is activated.
Function module exits also control the data flow between standard programs and screen exit fields. SAP application developers create function module exits by writing calls to customer functions into the source code of standard R/3 programs.
These calls have the following syntax:
    CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION ‘001’.
    <b>Field Exits </b>
Field exits allow you to create your own programming logic for any data element in the Dictionary. You can use this logic to carry out checks, conversions, or business-related processing for any screen field.  Example: The data element BBBNR identifies a company’s international location number. You might want to set up your R/3 System so that all international location numbers are larger than 100.
The field exit concept lets you create a special function module that contains this logic.
You assign the special function module to the data element BBBNR. You then assign the module to any programs and screens in which users can add new international location numbers. When you activate your field exit, the system automatically triggers your special routine whenever a user enters a company location number.
In 4.6c, you can use "RSMODPRF" program to create field exits.
An example of a user exits :-
    MODULE user_exit_0001 INPUT
        CASE okcode.
            WHEN 'BACK OR EXIT'.
                CASE sy-dynnr.
                        WHEN '100'.
                             SET SCREEN 0.
                             LEAVE SCREEN.
                        WHEN '200'.
Note that you can write any code that satisfy your needs.                                                     ****
But in this case, this was wrote as a sample code for reference sake.                                    ****
And you can test it.                                                                                ****
                             SET SCREEN 100.
                             LEAVE SCREEN.
                 ENDCASE.
          ENDCASE.

    Pavan

    Implementation Project
Project to implement business processes in an SAP landscape.
Create a project structure from the business processes. You can either create a new project structure, or base it on one of the following:
One or more user or partner templates
    An existing project
Scenarios and configuration structures delivered by SAP
    An existing production solution landscape
    Template Project
A project to create a template.
A template makes your project structure, or parts of it, with its assigned objects (documentation, test cases, IMG activities), available to other projects.
You can lock templates, completely or partially, against changes when they are used in other projects. To use templates in other systems, transport them.
Template projects are especially suited to SAP partner solutions or global rollout.
    Upgrade Project
A project to upgrade existing systems.
In an upgrade project you can:
    Upgrade customizing: Upgrade existing functions
    and/or
    Delta customizing: Copy additional functions

    Hi Reddy,
I thought i will start of from scratch.Mapping is basically done to convert one form of xml into another form. This can be done using either of them mentioned below.
    - Graphical mapping
    - XSLT mapping
    - JAVA mapping
    - ABAP mapping
To know more about each of them please go thru the following links. And if you ask me your which is better, it depends basically on the scenario you implementing and the complexity involved. Anyways please go thru the following links:

  • How load different types of file in SSIS

could you please suggest how can we load different types of file in SSIS. The file metadata is not defined . So the SSIS
package will read the files palced in a defined shared location or folder where based on the column value will determine the datatype on runtime and load the data.

    Hi SubhadipRoy,
SSIS doesn’t support dynamic data access provider or metadata. That means that we need to use different source adapters for flat files (.csv and .txt) and Excel files. So, in the Control Flow, you can use three Foreach Loop Container: one to loop through
.txt files, one to loop through .csv files, and the last one to loop through Excel files. In each Foreach Loop Container, you use a Data Flow Task to extract data from the corresponding source files.
If the source files have different structures, you need to use Script Component in the Data Flow Task to parse the first row of the source files and create destination table dynamically. Here are two script examples for your reference:

  • Heading for Different Types  in Query designer

We have three different types Direct, Indirect and Others. Where Indirect and Others are fixed values and Direct types are dynamic which are getting from ECC.
So they are expecting heading before each type and result according to these types.
Tried so many options but not able to achieve the desired result as expected in Query Designer.
Please find the attached document for desired output
Please provide some inputs how can we achieve at the report level.

    hi Naresh,
Structures are objects that you define in the BEx Query Designer. You can define reusable structures as well. they form the basic framework of a report. You can have maximum of 2 structures in a query. In such case you cannot have the same KeyFigure in both the structures.
You can also define a structure for a Characteristic.
    Please check out these links.

    Limitations of Structures usage
You can have maximum of two structures only ... One for kfs and one for characteristics..A characteristic can't be included in a KF structure and a KF can'be included in a characteristic structure...
We can't have 2 KF structures but we can have 2 Char Structure or 1 KF Structure and 1 Char Structure.

    Hi,
Steps to create a HR Infotype:
    1) Go to Transaction PM01.
    2) Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create (Should be a 4 digit number, start with 9).
    3) Select the 'Employee Infotype' radio button.
    4) Select the 'PS Structure Infotype'.
    5) Click on Create... A separate table maintenance window appears...
    6) Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the Infotype
    7) Save and Activate the PS structure
    8) Go back to the initial screen of PM01.
    9) Click on 'All' push button. It takes a few moments.
    10) Click on 'Technical Characteristics'. Infotype list screen appears
    11) Click on 'Change'(pencil) button
    12) Select your Infotype and click on 'Detail' (magnifying glass) button
    13) Give 'T591A' as subtype table
    14) Give 'T591S' as subtype txt tab
    15) Give your subtype field as subtype field
    16) Save and come back to PM01 initial screen
    17) Click on 'Infotype Characteristics' ... Infotype list screen appears
    18) Click on 'Change' (pencil) button
    19) Click on 'New Entries'
    20) Enter your Infotype number and short text
    21) Here we have to set different Infotype Characteristics as per the requirement. (Better open another session with some standard Infotype's infotype characteristics screen and use as the reference to fill yours)
