Regarding direct production

Dear all,
I have checked in help portal regarding direct production,
Can anybody explain with example how to process it.
Because in help portal it has mention goods issue and receipt not necessary.
Then how the material will take in MRP?
Difference between direct production & collective order?
Regards
Rajasekaran

Hi,
It is way of linking Production orders of HALB to FERT within same BOM & provide addtional functionality like goods issue( Not goods receipt) on HALB production order not needed . If you have BOM of FERT with atleast one subassembly(HALB) & if you define procurement type E & spl proc type 52 for HALB, HALB production order is linked to FERT production order. Lot sizing procedure is ignored for HALB & qty of both production order will  be same.
In addtion , if you select 'Collective order with Goods movement' in OPJH,  Goods issue of HALB to FERT production order is posted automatically when Goods receipt on HALB production order is done.
It addresses requirement of having seperate production order for HALB( for tracking ) , but since it is consumed /used for higher level assembly(Doesn't go to Store/WH) , no need to remember to good issue to higher production order.
It is way of reducing transactions on shop floor
If you define HALB as phantom, all of pain above is not needed
Hope ite helps,
Jatin

  • Direct Production - Fixed quantity in BOM

    Dear PP Gurus,
Need your expert on this question, we have a direct production in a Pharma process. The scenario is that we have a fixed loss quantity in the mixing which we setup in the filling BOM.
With the direct production, each requirement is pegged to a planned order. There will be two planned order.
So, one planned order is the actual requirement order and the other is the for the fixed quantity for mixing process.
Is it possible to consolidate the two planned order quantity in one process order and the additional planned order, can it be delete automatically by MRP run or some method?
    Appreciate for any feedback
    Thanks & Regards
    Pooja.

    Dear Girish,
In the Mixing material wiht a master data with a special procurement key = 52 (Direct Production) in te material master and select the collective order. = 2 in the MRP 4
In Mixing, there is a fixed loss of the certain quantity wen the solution passto te next Filling process. In the Filling process, BOM, there a fixed quantity indicate.
So, usng the Direct Production, the mixing material will be proposed two planned order with different segment.
    The other remain te same.
By consolidating the fixed quantity and order quantity in one process order, but the fixed quantity planned order is not going to deleted when you run MRP.
So, the question is there a way to handle this requiremen with the order and fixed quatity, can be consolidate and the additional planned order to be deleted (or manual deletion )
    Appreciate yur assitance

  • Costs and Inventory posings in Direct Production / Collective order

We are trying to implement direct production though collective orders functionalty at our client.
We are using the right special procurement keys, order types (with collective order flag turned on) etc.  I am able to generate the collective order tree and also see that the scheduling is working as expected.
However, when I post confirmation of child orders, I am  not seeing any goods movements in the leading orders.  Also, I donot see anycost in the leading order as well.   Has anyone come across this issue ?  Any thoughts / ideas willbe helpful?

    Hi,
For the order type which you're using, go to OPJH & in the section Cost Controlling tick the check box which says Coll. order with goods movement
Create a new collective order & carry out your cycle. I would suggest do a test in your sandbox first.
    Hope it clarifies.

  • Direct Procurement and Direct Production

    Dear all,
Can you please explain to me what is "Direct Procurement", and "Direct Production" base on the following points:
1 - What is the process about?
2 - How and when business requirement will bump into and using these two processes?
    3 - Example
Please don't copy and paste the SAP help portal explanation as I have read the SAP help-portal and am NOT understand
    thanks very much
    tuffy

    Dear Tuffy,
    Direct Production:
1.The components for which individual production orders are created in a collective order concept are called as directly
    produced component.
2.In my understanding these components are identified with the value 52 set for special procurement key in MRP2 view of the
    material master.
3.Direct production cannot be set for the components that have any one of the indicator set for - by product, co-
product, alternative item with usage probablity 0 or alternative item with strategy 2,discontinued material, follow up material, intra
    material.
4.This concept atleast helps in understanding the cost breakup than the phantom assembly concept.
    5. Example:
You want to produce a pump. The BOM for the pump contains a pressure regulating valve and a spiral casing. You want to
enter these two components in separate production orders, but you do not want them to be posted to stock.
You set the special procurement type to direct production in the material master record for the pressure regulating valve and
the spiral casing, so that production occurs using a collective order.
When you create a production order for the pump, a collective order is automatically created, which contains subordinate
production orders for the pressure regulating valve and the spiral casing.
    Direct Procurement:__
1.Direct Procurement is generally used for non-stock items that is defined with item category N or defined using special
    procurement key for direct procurement.
2.This is widely used in the case of Make ot order or Engineer to Order production where the stock of such materials are not
    inventory managed.

    John,
I'd pay good money to bet it wouldn't last 5 years... I don't rate the in built power supply and as for "server grade hard disk" - Hmmmm..... The failure rate of all HD's on the market after 3 year is 60%.

  • Steps to setup Direct Production in SAP

    Hello gurus.
Could someone post a link to a guide; or the steps to setting up Direct Production in a Plant?
We have a final assembly that has a multilevel BOM; what we want is to create one production order for the final assembly and have the production orders of all subassemblies below it automatically created and linked to the final assembly.
We would like to be able to confirm the Production Order for the final assembly and have the rest of them automatically confirmed as well, performing all of the backflushes and costing necessary.
    Thank you.

    Direct production:
Once production is done, the goods receipt for the components is completed in the warehouse in a way that goods issue of the components can be carried out for the production order of the superior assembly.
Components are produced directly for the higher-level assembly and consumed...
If you want to use direct production for a particular component all the time, you have to enter the special procurement key for direct production in the material master for the component (MRP 2 view).
If you want to use direct procurement for a particular BOM only, you have to enter the special procurement key for direct procurement in the corresponding BOM item in the MRP data area. This entry overwrites the entry in the material master.
If you have activated direct production in the material master, you can switch off direct production for a particular BOM, if you deactivate direct production in the MRP data area of the corresponding BOM item under Explosion type. This entry overwrites the entry in the material master.

  • Feedback regarding HP products

I have a long message, but this forum seems to be the only real feedback option, so I'll share my concerns here.
Seven years ago I purchased an HP printer. For the reputation HP had, I thought it would work fine - it broke within a month. My second HP printer that I bought 4 years ago broke after only 2 months, having printed out no more than 20 pages.
Recently, I bought an HP computer - within two months, my $1200-purchase was useless. I kept on getting blue screen and other crashes so I called HP support. I had standard warranty. The support technician told me that standard warranty meant they could only tell me how to fix the computer myself over the phone. Apparently, that is what HP means by standard warranty - that you have to fix it yourself. Why then is it included in the price?
The support technician was asking me to unplug all cables from the box, open the box and remove one component after another, to plug back all the cables and turn the computer on. When that didn't work, he told me to remove the cables from the box once more, remove another component, plug back the cables into the box and then turn the computer on again. This cycle was repeated numerous times with me taking components in and out, until I looked at my clock and realized I had been on the phone for hours without any result, doing the work of HP support. The support technician said that he could not give me the address of an HP repair location until I completed all the work - meaning that I would have to continue sweating, trying to fix my computer - essentially working for HP free of charge.
I told the technician I was outraged. When you buy a brand new car and it breaks down, you don't get a call from a mechanic telling you how to fix it - you take it back to the dealership and he fixes it if it is in the warranty. HP, it seems, has one policy regarding its defective products and that is - ACCEPT NOTHING BACK, regardless of any warranty. I've owned AMD, Intel, Dell and Asus computers and didn't have any issues.
When the HP stock price fell by more than 9% in February, HP "blamed weakness in PC sales to consumers", a Bloomberg article says. That tells you something about the quality of HP PC's. Moreover, just one day before HP is supposed to report earnings, a memo leaked out to Bloomberg warns of lower profits and it is in that memo that the HP CEO orders executives "to watch every penny". Indeed, ACCEPT NOTHING BACK, seems to be an excellent cost-saving policy; however, it didn't prevent your stock from falling 5% today alone.
The HP computer I got recently is the last HP product I will ever buy.

Dear HP Friends: I own and use 3 HP printers; newest one Officejet Pro 8600 premium. "HP Instant Care" connection program didn't work for/in my supercomputer; I had only voice help/support; no HP computer's control. SUGGESTION: HP should have a substitute connection program (one among many popular ones) to have direct computer's control. THIS WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU MANY HOURS OF SUPPORTING TIME. I had a great difficulty installing HP 8600; with long distance computer control would have been easy: in minutes instead of hours.
Last technician's word fixing problem sending fax from computer was, that there was incompatibility of HP 8600 with Microsoft Word (Microsoft's problem, no HP's). NOT TRUE! I reinstalled HP 8600, and everything is working fine now from my computer; no communication problem.
Please see records for useless hours expended supporting me for lack of direct computer connection with another program when "HP Instant Care" does not work, as in my computer.

  • Regarding direct material procurement in Classic scenario.

    Hello SRM Gurus ,
We are implementing SRM5.0 classic scenario, (SSP with CCM).
As per standard , Shopping cart for a direct material (Requisition for
stock) will create a follow-on document in SRM only (controlled extended
    classic scenario).
Client's requirement is that it should create a back-end PR in R/3 system.
Reason being, the client needs to have only one indenting system and one
    procurement system.
which BAPI in R/3 for PR/PO has to be used to create PRs or Pos from SRM. Similarly, RFC  which FMs have to be used to update status in SRM.
How to bypass the standard replication mechanism.
    Please help me..
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi
<b>Why not go for the BADI -> BBP_TARGET_OBJTYPE</b>
    Or
<u>Alternatively using SPRO settings, you can change the standard behaviour of the system based on various attrbutes e.g., for a Particular Product, Item category, etc.</u>
    <b>Here is the Path ->
IMG -> Supplier Relationship Mnagement -> SRM Server -> Cross-Application Basic settings -> Define Objects in Backend System (Purch. Reqs, Reservations, Purch. Orders)</b>
<b>Define Objects in Backend System (Purch. Reqs, Reservations,</b>
You perform this step only if you create your Materials Management documents in a backend system.
You specify the documents that are to be created in the backend system for a requirement coverage request.
The following documents can be created:
    Purchase requisition
    Purchase order
    Reservation
You enter a product category (such as office supplies, or hardware) and/or an organizational unit. The organizational unit contains the purchasing group that is responsible for procuring products in this category.
You can enter the product category generically, such as Office*.
    Note
The backend system is determined  using the product category in the requirement coverage request item. The item also contains the organizatinal unit.
You can use the Business Add-In BBP_TARGET_OBJTYPE if you wish to implement a different logic for creating documents in the backend system.
    Example
If purchasing group 01 wants to procure materials from the category Raw Materials, a reservation is to be created every time.
If materials in the category PC are to be procured, a purchase requisition is to be created every time.
    Activities
    1. Enter the organizational unit and/or the category.
    2. Enter a source system.
    3. Choose the procurement type.
Reservation if stock is available, otherwise external procurement
The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management and sufficient stock quantity is available in the warehouse on the requested date.
Always reservation for materials subject to inventory management
The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management, irrespective of whether stock is available.
    Always external procurement
The system does not create a reservation, but always procures the item externally. In this case, you specify the type of external procurement.
The following options are significant if the system cannot create a reservation (for example, if there is no stock available or for a non-stock item) or the system must not create a reservation (choose Always external procurement).
Purchase order if item data complete, otherwise purchase requisition
The system always tries to create a purchase order. If the item data is incomplete (for example, the vendor or price is not known), the system creates a purchase requisition from the item.
    Always purchase requisition
The system always creates a purchase requisition.
    Always local purchase order
The system always creates a local purchase order.
    Hope this will help.
    Please reward suitable points.

    Hello Dyfed,
first of all, it would be nice to know what "MySAP" product you are talking about. Then I would be able to answer some of your questions.
But the information is also available all over SDN and you can find it there too.
In case this is a formal product questionaire, I would recommend to contact your local SAP representative and get these questions answered there.

  • Query regarding direct path write

    Hi All,
We have Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production running on Redhat 4.
We have performance issue with high disk utilization.
When seen statspack report, top event is always direct path write.
when checked about direct path write found that it is consequence of direct path inserts/high sort operations.
I checked v$sort_usage and identified query which is listed there most of time, but column segtype is HASH for that query.
So is there chance i can conclude that this is the query which is causing direct path writes as confusing thing is SEGTYPE is HASH.
Please let me know your comment about the same and also is there a way i can find sql statement which are writing to temp tablespace using direct path write.
    Regards
    Vinay

v$sql_workarea_active gives information about the active work areas in the system. It shows the operation type, sid, memory usage and temp tablespace usage. You can check this to see what session is using the temporary tablespace for work areas.

  • Regarding Direct Connections in PI 7.1 EHP1

    Hi
I have two integrate two SAP ECC systems using Direct connections  I have  gone through the WiliamLI  Blog
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b00bbb77-75bc-2a10-6b9a-a6f8161515a6?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
    and also the documentation
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/48/ce5bf1a0d7154ee10000000a421937/frameset.htm
    I have 1 doubt
If the proxies are generated on ABAP backend of PI system ( inbound and outbound both as per the blog )
How do I integrate  two ECC systems ( Normally proxies are created on ECC system )
Or it is not possible to talk between two SAP ECC system using direct connections and I am going a wrong way
    I am confused .
    Please  help in this regard
    Thanks
    Ninad

    Hi,
You are correct, Instructor has used SAP PI system ABAP stack to create proxies.
Let me explain you how he has used SAP PI system to illustrate the Direct Connection with in PI itself.
->  Created Proxies both Server and Client in PI itself.
->  Uses Client 200 as SYS1 and SYS2 as 300 (see Receiver Communication Channel creation) other than these, he must
have 001 client for Integration server itself.
->   Executes client proxy from Client 200 and gets data from client 300 as this is the receiver.
->   Used client 200 and 300 as two different ABAP Back end systems (Integration Engines) but they are within PI itself.
->   To create proxy he must have ABAP developer license for client 200.
This never happens in any Implementation Projects, As Rajesh said they will be two different ERP systems which pass through PI.
    Hope you understood now.

  • Regarding 'Direct Path Read' waits

As we all know, direct path read waits is a new feature in Oracle 11g. From Oracle Documents or others' articles, when it is full table scan, direct path read occured. But why it occured?  I don't know clearly.
    Below is Oracle Document description:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18283_01/server.112/e17110/waitevents003.htm#sthref3849
During Direct Path operations the data is asynchronously read from the database files. At some stage the session needs to make sure that all outstanding asynchronous I/O have been completed to disk. This can also happen if during a direct read no more slots are available to store outstanding load requests (a load request could consist of multiple I/Os).
    Question:
    1. During Direct Path operations the data is asynchronously read from the database files.  >> what does this statement mean? what's ''asynchronously read'?
    2. describe above description for me in details.
    3. who can clearly explain 'why direct path read waits occur' for me?
    Thanks in advance.

If you want to get very technical, Frits Hoogland has written lots of stuff about the implementation:

  • Reporting Direct Production Cost Center Over/Under Absorption

    Hi,
I am trying to find a way to report Manufacturing Cost Center Over/Under Absorption in a similar way COGS are reported in CO-PA. I mean - I would like to breakdown Direct Manufacturing Cost Center Over/Under Absorption into cost elements (just like COGS are broken down in COPA when invoice is posted).
I wonder if this is possible in SAP without Material Ledger implemented. If yes - can it be achieved by using a standard functionality or does it require an additional development?
    Thank you,
    K

Thanky you for your reply Ranjan,
My intention was to show Cost center over/underabsorption broken down by cost componets (activity Labour, Machine, Overhead). Currently it is shown as a balance on cost center. I would like to be able to recognize which part of Direct manufacturing CC balance refers to Labour, which to Machine and which to Overhead. Is it possible to achieve in sandard report or additional settings/development is required.

  • Query Regarding Default Product category set up in SRM server

    HI SAp Gurus,
Plesae note that I have created one dummy product category - Test under R3MATCLASS using TC - COMM_HIERARCHY and set in the extended attribute of the root organization level.
Also done the validation in BBP_DOC_CHECK _BADI.
In SRM portal it is reflecting the text as *Please select a product category from list* in Category field as I set in SRM server.
But when I try to select "Add To Shopping Cart" Button it displays the following error messages that -
    1) Enter A comapny Code
    2) Enter a unit of measure
    3) Plant for follow-on document missing
    4) System FCSCLNT110 of purch. organization M&S Purchasing Organisation differs from doc. reference FSSCLNT480
    5) Error in account assignment for item 1
    6) Error calling META BAPI META_CALCULATE_TAX
    7) Not possible to calculate tax
    8) Error occurred calling META_BAPI_DISPATCH
    9) The cost center has not been assigned in the account assignment
When I select the valid product category which is replicated to SRM from ECC , it does not display any error message.
I think the dummy product category - Test which I have created directly in SRM is creating the problem . and displays an error message-
System FCSCLNT110 of purch. organization M&S Purchasing Organisation differs from doc. reference FSSCLNT480
I have also check that when i click Add to Shopping Cart Button - The item_check Badi is also triggered . When I set up the break point there for debugging purpose its not triggeing and coming up with the above error messages.
Kindly advice and do the needful.

    Hi Muthu,
I confirm that have successfully created the dummy product Category at SRM server and maintained in the extended attribute tab at the root organization level.
Bu the new problem raised - a warning message -  No authorization to purchase from product category - Test
For that in PFCG TC we are setting up the autorization level as Low for Startegic Purchasing Role.
But even then the great problem is - when i click add to shopping cart button the line item is not created in step 2, since I have selected the dummy product category not the one which is replicated from backend. Otherwise if i select the one which is replicated from ECC its showing me the one line item in the next screen.
    Can any one please advice.

  • Direct production in collective order network, automatic 261...

    hi all,
i have a problem in a schenario with collective order network.
i have order B part of collective order network of order A. and material of order B has special procurement key 52 maintained in it. and colletive order of goods movement is selected in order type setting of order B.
now the problem is when i confirm the order B, its header material automatically gets issued to order A (as per the settings that is fine.. ).
but when i canel \ reverse the order A, i can not see 262 for material of order B which was issued automatically....??? why so?
and if i try to revrse order B,  it stucs in COGI with the error of deficit of sales order quantity (or unrestricted quantity)....
can somebody tell me how to sollve this? how to get 262 of the header material of order B?
    best regards,
    Maulin
Edited by: Maulin Munshi on Jun 17, 2009 8:27 AM

If you're doing the confirmation of parent order (leading order) at header level (meaning you use CO15) then you can only confirm that particular order and not any child order. If you want the child orders to be confirmed also after completely confirming you'd have to change the control key of last operation of routing in leading material as milestone and use CO11 or CO11N and just confirm the last operation, it will automatically confirm all the operations in the leading order and all the sub orders (child orders). I don't think your OPKI setting will solve the issue.
Production orders that belong to collective orders are generally confirmed like normal production orders. However, you should note the following:
When you carry out a confirmation at header or suboperation level, you can only confirm the order concerned.
When you confirm at operation level, you can confirm operations for all orders as long as you work with milestone operations or progress confirmations.
When there is a confirmation in the collective order, the system sets the status CFCO (release occurred in network) at the header level of the leading order in the collective order.
