Regarding File Adapter

Hi All,
   How can I specify the source Directory in Sender File Adapter. I have given it as
<hostname>\<directory>. I am getting the error
<hostname>\<directory> does not exist in adapter status. The directory is shared and has all permissions.
Help me solve my issue.
Thanks & Regards,
Jai Shankar.

Hi,
if you're using file system
try logging on your XI server system and
try if you can access
<hostname>\<directory
from <b>there </b>with this path

    Regarding File Adapter - WinXP at compile time, Unix at run time
    I want to specify polling of a directory using Unix type directory notation but this doesn't compile under windows. (I'll read up re. logical directories)
    Has anyone done polling of a unix directory using BPEL (but compiled this under windows JDeveloper)?
    thanks,
    Allan

    Using a logical directory should help you with this problem.

  • File adapter doubt

    i have doubt regarding file adapter
    can a file adapter work dynamically?

    Hi Allen -
    On the sender file adapter side you have the wildcard options (e.g. *, ?) and in addition you can set exclusion masks to exclude files with a certain pattern.   You can set additional folders too for additional files in a different location (<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/frameset.htm">Additional Files</a>)
    On the receiver side, you can use <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/frameset.htm">Variable Substitution</a> to dynamically set the filename and path based on message content (payload or header).

  • Doubt regarding Sender adapter file content conversion to RFC

    Hi Experts,
    Below is the my Source and  Target XML structure ( i have creaated source structure same as target RFC structure),  This scenario is working fine when i give XML file as input. File -> XI -> RFC , xml file is able to update the information in R3.
    How should i configure sender file adapter for file content conversion for above structure(in this case input is fixed lenth text), and i could able to change source structure according to our req, without changing target RFC strucuture.

    Hi Dhanush,
    Try giving the Sender FCC this way for the source structure you have mentioned above.
    Record structure as: COMMIT,1,IDENTIFICATION,1
    COMMIT.fieldNames : COMMIT_I
    COMMIT.fieldFixedlengths: 1
    Hope this helps.

                        It is better always if u have a structure with Header and trailers if u have a subsrtuctures in it & always try make it in this format:

  • Regarding issue sender file adapter in clustered  environment(PI 7.0)

    Hi Experts,
    we  are using  sender  file adapter in clustered environment(there are 6 J2EE cluster nodes in XI system) for an interface.the  file sender communication channel  for this interface  is scheduled to run twice  every day. recently   the   channel stopped polling (picking the files from the source directory) and i dont see any error.
    when i open Communication Channel monitoring in RWB and select the file sender communication channel  and run it manually, none of the cluster nodes  are polling for the file.
    i have tried   editing the communication channel in Integration Directory   and  activating  it. but it does not pick the file.
    Can you let me know how  the issue can be resolved.
    Thanks

    Edited by: Kausik M on Dec 18, 2008 4:13 AM

    Kausik,
    A computer cluster is a group of linked computers, working together closely so that in many respects they form a single computer. The components of a cluster are commonly, but not always, connected to each other through fast local area networks. Clusters are usually deployed to improve performance and/or availability over that provided by a single computer, while typically being much more cost-effective than single computers of comparable speed or availability.
    clearly your cluster nodes are out of sync...!!!!
    It is possible that your ftp server went down for a while . And in the profile of FTP machine the entry of XI server is not made permanent .
    1. Try to ping the FTP site from XI server.
    BTW are u getting any error msg at RWB ?

  • Query regarding file content conversion using file adapter

    Hi All
    I have a question regarding file content conversion in file adapter.
    I have a file coming in the following format.
    AA,111,222,333
    BB,444,555,666
    CC,777,888,999
    My incoming message structure has a hierarchy. The CC record is a structure part of BB record. BB record is a structure part of AA record. It is like this:
    AA,111,222,333
    <<BB,444,555,666>>
    <<<<CC,777,888,999>>>>
    After file content conversion, in the resulted xml, i am getting a flat hierarchy instead of nested hierarchy.
    Is it possible to get a nested hierarchy as a result of file content conversion?
    Please let me know
    Thanks
    Chandra

    Hi Udo
    According to your suggestion, I am trying to use mapping.
    I am getting a flat file and i am reading it.
    This is my source structure:
    AA,11,22,33
    BB,44,55,66
    CC,77,88,99
    This is my required targer structure:
    AA,11,22,33
    <<BB,44,55,66>>
    <<<<CC,77,88,99>>>>
    To explain this, BB record can have multiple records of CC records.
    AA records can have multiple records of BB record.
    I am using removecontext node function.
    CC (Source)  (removecontext)-> CC (target structure)
    But here, when i rightclick on source CC field in the mapping editor, i cannot see any other context except root node. So, how can i proceed here??
    Many Thanks

  • Problem regarding Configuring the File Adapter

    Hi,
    I am making a Flat File to XML File Scenario. I have made all the Necessary developments and the Routings in the Integration Repository and the Integration Directory. The Sender Communication Channel Uses the Message Protocol "File Content Conversion". All the required steps have been done. We have installed the System and also the Basis Team has done the Post Installation Activities.
    <b> The Problem is that the "File is not getting picked up". When checking the RWB and henceforth the Adapter Monitoring we see that the File Adapter is disabled and the XI and the BC adapters are green. Previously we were on SP9 and now we are on SP14. The SAP Basis is at 640 and SP9 and the SAP ABAB is on 640 and SP9.</b>
      We are also unavailable to see the File Communication Channels that we have created. When the Tcode "sxi_cache is run it is giving an error that Cache not refreshed andon refreshing various times too the Cache is not Refreshed.
    Please Suggest us what we should do. Eagerly waiting for a reply and Thanking in Anticipation. Do we need to make some for configurations for that.
    Warm Regards
    Chakra and Somnath

    Hi Somnath,
    If the sender file adapter is up and running and even after that if you find some problem, the first thing you need to do is check if your file has been picked. The easiest way to check the same is to set the mode to DELETE, that is the file gets deleted as soon as it is picked. If your file has not been picked then the reasons for the same could be the following.
    - The path that you specified while configuring the sender communication channel would have been wrong.
    - While specifying the file name take care as it is case sensitive.
    - If you require content conversion then make sure that the parameters entered at the time of configuration are all correct.
    Please go thru the following links to get a very clear picture of your requirement.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/frameset.htm

    Also make sure that your content conversion is in sequence wrt Datat Type Sturcture.
    Go through these blogs below for more detail on the same:

  • Regarding the File Adapter with Code Page problem

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario where I am processing file at receiver end. The code page of the file is Cp037. When I try with this, I am facing the problem. Is there anyway where I can chage the code page of the file which is to processed by File adapter receiver.
    I have one idea but I don't know whether it is possible or not. It is to use XML Anonymizer Module.
    Please get back to me with your ideas.
    Regards,
    Achari

    Hi Achaari,
    Cp037 ( EBCDIC ) is not a basic but an extended encoding set which might not be supported by the file encoding parameter at the receiver file adapter.
    Either you can try the code page conversion using java code  as mentioned in  this[ post|Code page conversion;
    Please refer Problem with EBCDIC

  • Regarding hierarchy of message using file adapter

    Hi all.
    I have following source-structure
    <name of MT>
    <Header>
    <h1></h1>
    <Subheader>
    <sh1></sh1>
    <LineItem>
    <l1></l1>
    <LineItem>
    </Subheader>
    </Header>
    </name of MT>
    Input is coming like a flat file.
    can file adapter can read the above structure? may be it doesn't because, <l1> item is in 4th level of message. so adapter can't read more than 3rd levels.. is it right? Please give u r inputs.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    To my Knowledge
    >>so adapter can't read more than 3rd levels.. is it right? Please give u r inputs
      It is not  like that.

  • Regarding .trg file from receiver file adapter

    Hi,
    My scenario is IDOC to File.
    i am using file adapter at receiver side. My client want me to generate .trg file at the end once i create .dat file. After that one .net program will run and it will check for .trg file and will pick up the .dat file with the same name. They want me to do this because other applications also creating .trg file.
    They are saying that C#.net program should not pick the file before XI completes writing the file fully.
    ( .net we may have option to check whether any other aplication is locked the file, but they dont want to use that ).
    My question is, do we really need to create .trg file. What is the posibility of the .dat file being picked by C#.net program before XI completes writing the file fully if we dont use .trg file.
    Will the file visible for .net program before file fully wirten to the share folder. How file adapter works?
    Will it create a file and keep on appending the lines? OR it will write everyting at a shot?

    HI Ashok,
    You need to create two fiels .dat and .trg but should be in sequence.
    Either you can add the simple BPM i.e. Receiver step and two send steps in sequence then it will resolve the purpose.
    OR
    make the external control on communication channel to be activate in pre-defined sequence so 1st Dat file will be created and then .trg file.
    You can even schedule the communciation channels accordingly, this way you can add multiple receivers with scheduling
    Thanks

  • FileName in Sender File Adapter Module

    Hi Folks,
    In my sender file adapter have written a module to read the picked file name. The protocol used is NFS.
    Notice that the file name read in the module has the absolute path, including the directory path. E.g The file name xyz has to be picked from source directory
    XIServer\Outbound. In the module when I retrieve the file name, it comes up as
    XIServer\Outbound\xyz. Is this expected behaviour?
    I was expecting just the file name<xyz> to be retrieved.
    Thanks,

    HI,
    Create an UDF and write this code.
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key =
    DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    return  ourSourceFileName;
    in Adapter u will have Adapter specific parameters check the file name check box.
    Using this UDF u will get the file name at target side.
