Regarding ORACLE_HOME location in report builder software

Can anybody tell me from where I can change the ORACLE_HOME location in report builder tool. I would like to use some customized ORACLE_HOME.

it might be the case that you are having more then 1 oracle product installed(i.e workflow, developer suite etc) and all of them use different oracle_home.
when you are trying to ping database one of the oracle_home is picked based on regestiry setting but when you try to connect through report buider other oracle home is coming into picture(because you choose to have different oracle_home at the time of installation) and this oracle home don't have entry for database.
for checking it
tnsping <db_name>
within output first line will indicate parameter file used ...i.e. location of sqlnet.ora..check it is the location of oracle_home....also you can try below
Search for tnsnames.ora/listener.ora on all the drive on your machine...replace it with correct one on all locations and try
hope it helps.
Thanks,

Edited by: user12001639 on 19 Apr, 2011 11:10 PMYou do not need to have listener.ora file on the client side.
We have already mentioned the tnsnames.ora file above (not sure why you just duplicate one of the replies).

  • Report building software

    Hello
6 years ago we created our inspection software suite using excel spreadsheet. As an option we recreated the reports in Adobe. Both versions use extensive drop down menus, formulas, data validation etc. I have been waiting for some time for a tablet that I could use. There have been some expensive niche products but nothing that quite met our needs. HP finally came out with something close with their Slate 500 tablet but again, not quite the right one. Everyone else seems to have decided to use operating systems that pdfs and excel spreadsheets don't function properly on, including the PlayBook. (This seems crazy to me seeing as a huge percentage of people who use computers use a Windows OS and will want to have the software they use on their desktop / laptop compatable with their tablet - at least as far as it would be used for business purposes.)
Now recently I acquired a Torch 9800 and decided to pick up the PlayBook to see if I couldn't make SOMETHING work. Does anyone have a suggestion on a business app or software suite that I can use to re-build my inspection reports to use with my PlayBook?
    Regards
    Dave

Until very recently, Adobe has never really focused on the handheld market (smartphones & tablets), so the Acrobat Reader apps available have always been quite limited in terms of features.
Besides, I think (but I don't have any stats) that 99% of PDF files in the world are about text & images only, not using the power features you are currently using.
That being said, I suggest you use technologies that are broadly used on the Mobile Internet. This includes HTML5 obviously, you can create a webapp. This if fine but for offline use, you will need to encapsulate the HTM5 app into another one, so you get to the point where you need to develop several apps for each operating system (mainly Google Android, BlackBerry Tablet and Apple iOS).
If you want more, you can dig into the Adobe Air technology, that is currently already available for those three mobile operating systems, as well as Windows and MacOS.

  • How to Publish a report created by Oracle report builder

    Hi Everyone
My colleague and I were trying to use the Oracle Reports Builder to replace our existing reports generator from our ERP system. We have already created the report in the Reports Builder from the development suite.
    What we are looking for is a similar solution as the Microsoft reporting service;
    1) create the company report templates
    2) and then upload the template files to a location (e.g. folder on the server)
    3) then all user in the company can access it by a web browser with some fields which they can enter some critiria (e.g. purchase order number).
    4) then send to printer and the print out should look exactly like the template.
Unfortunately, we had very bad time on try to find out what we need and how to publish that Oracle report we created. We spent 15 hours on that but no result.
In that 15 hours we tried to setup the "Oracle report service", but at last my colleague said that wasnt what we looking for, the "Oracle report service" is for reporting the error from the application hosted on the server, not for publish the company report created by the "Oracle report bulider" .
We use Oracle Database 10g for the ERP quite a long time already. We had the Oracle Developer Setup, and the Application Server Installed.
Could someone please tell us what kind of Oracle service we are actually looking for. Any other suggestion and setup guides are also the most welcoming.
    Best Regards
    Bryan

    Hello,
If you want to be able to execute your Reports on the web, the best solution is to use the "Oracle Application Server"
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
For example , the "Forms & Reports Services Standalone" edition
Then, use the Reports Servlet to submit the execution requests to a Reports Server :

  • SSRS Execution Account cannot be used with Report Builder

Running SQL Server 2012 SP2, I have specified an Execution Account in Reporting Services Configuration Manager as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156302(v=sql.110).aspx
The article states: "You can specify Integrated Security=SSPI if the database server supports Windows integrated security and the account used for unattended report processing has permission to read the database." I have created a data source using
the Report Manager Web interface with connection string: "Data Source=<server>;Initial Catalog=<database>;Integrated Security=SSPI" and "Connect using: Credentials are not required" option.
The Execution Account is a domain user account with db_owner membership on the database in question. When I "Test Connection" in Report Manager, the connection is created successfully.
However, when I attempt to create a new dataset using this data source in Report Builder, I am unable to connect to the data source: "You have specified integrated security or credentials in the connection string for the data source, but the data source
is configured to use a different credential type. To use the values in the connection string, you must configure the unattended report processing account for the report server."
If I change the "connect using" option for the data source to "Windows integrated security" I can successfully create a new dataset and report in Report Builder. After saving the report, I reconfigure the data source for "Credentials
are not required" and I am able to successfully run the report using the Execution Account.
Is this a known limitation? The Report Builder cannot be used with an unattended Execution Account configured?

    Hi desmondgc,
According to your description, you have set the execution account for connecting data source. You can connect data source successfully, but can't create dataset with the unattended account. Right?
As we tested in our local environment, we encountered the same issue. Even testing connection successfully in Report Builder, it still says unable connect to data source when creating dataset.
For this issue,  I would recommend to submit it to the Microsoft Connect at this link
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback.
This connect site will serve as a connecting point between you and Microsoft, and ultimately the large community for you and Microsoft to interact with. Your feedback enables Microsoft to offer the best software and deliver superior services, meanwhile you
can learn more about and contribute to the exciting projects on Microsoft Connect.
We will keep you updated if we find something, thank you for your posting.

Of course, you need to have a "X Display Server " up and running and the variable DISPLAY must be set to this "X Display Server "
    Example :
    export DISPLAY=123.456.789.12:0

  • Reports builder on Windows 7 (64bit)

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me with this....... I have installed Oracle Forms an Reports (64) on Windows 7 (64bit) successfully, but when i try to start report builder it does not open and no error apeared. I try to run it in cmd and i get the following message : The Reports Builder is only supported on the Linux x86 and Windows x86 operating systems... So is it true that I can't run reports on 64bit Windows or am I doing somethin wrong? What can I do? Can I install Forms/Reports (x86) on my version of Windows and will it work?
If someone has any idea please hepl me,
    thank you!!

Today I installed FMW 11.1.1.3 and got the same error message when calling rwbuilder.bat. I had to remove the line "goto end" in the batch file to get Reports Builder running. I havn't tested the stability so far but at least I can run the builder. It is (as expected) the 32-bit software. If there are problems I would try to run it in compatibility mode.

  • Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    Hi All,
The report builder in my system is behaving weirdly. If I open a report, which is having a normal browser output, it allowing me to see the data model, layout model and everything. And if I open a report, which is having a PDF output, it's not allowing me to open the Layout.
Here the output is in context of Oracle Applications front-end. And as I know it shouldn't be a problem with Report Builder.
It errors out with the following message.
Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
And the error report contains the following message.

Is it problem with my system or the Operating System or the version of the Oracle Developer?
Can anyone please help me out?

    Hi (datasci),
You can create a linked server in SSMS, then create a procedure to join three sheets. Then you can call the procedure in a dataset.
As we tested in our environment, we create a linked server and the procedure like below:
    --linked server
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
    @server = 'ExcelServer',
    @srvproduct = 'Excel',
    @provider = 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
@datasrc = 'c:\Book3.xls.xlsx', -- the path in the server where SQL server locates
    @provstr = 'Excel 12.0;IMEX=1;HDR=YES;'
EXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'ExcelServer', 'false'--, 'sa', 'Admin', null
    go
    --procedure
    CREATE PROC proce2
    as
    SELECT a.Name,a.Amount,b.PtNo,b.value,c.Gender
    FROM ExcelServer...[Sheet1$] as a
    left join ExcelServer...[Sheet2$] as b on a.Name =b.Name
    left join ExcelServer...[Sheet3$] as c on c.PtNo =b.PtNo
Then we call the procedure in the dataset, we get the expected result:
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Oracle Reports Builder

    Hi,
    Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2
    Database 11g
The scenario I am facing difficult to implement is like below
I have one normal frame inside that I have one frame (which displays the titles) and one repeating frame ( which displays the data).
My intention is not to display nothing( hide the outer frame) when there is no data in the repeating frame.
    I have tried the below.
    1. Created one summary field (sum_first) with function as 'First'
    2. Inside the before report formatting trigger, checked if the sum_first is not null then would return is true else false.
The issue here is that the query used for this frame would be repeated for the query which runs outside as different block. so I need to clear the value of the summary field for each execution. this means the repeating frame would be repeated each time this query is fired, we would have this repeating frame many times in a page.
Tried to reset the summary for the page instead of at report. But it is getting errored out.
Can somebody help me to how to make it happen
    Regards,
    Wilson

  • Report Builder RDF, XML, REP and Version Control

I'm looking to convert our existing RDF reports to XML format to better support version control and have a few questions.
    - Are there any issues with converting these RDF files to XML and developing them going forward?

    Hi Michael,
Per my understanding that you want to find a solution for version control when you design the report using the Report Builder 3.0, right?
As you know that Report Builder is a tool which can only work on one single file instead of a project , so the current version of Report Builder doesn't have these capabilities. You can submit a feature request about it on the  Microsoft UserVoice site
    here:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/category/53187-sql-bi-tools-srs-ssis-ssas-
Generally, visual Studio Team System and Visual Source Safe integrate with the Visual Studio/BIDS shell and third-party source control solutions like SVN managed from the file system play well with version control. So I would suggest you to consider use
    them instead.
In conclusion, one possible workaround for you is that you can save all .rdl files in third part tool’s(TFS) workspace folder for version control purpose (check in, check out with the Windows Shell Extension), and you can use Report Builder to edit these
report files. Then use Report Builder to deploy the .rdl file to Report Server.

  • Reports Builder won't start (iDS 9.0.4 on RHEL 3.0)

I have just completed a fresh install of Developer Suite 9.0.4 on RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0. The Forms builder (f90desm) runs fine but the Reports builder (rwbuilder) gives the error below. This server also has Oracle 9i DB and the Forms and Reports install from Application Server 9.0.4 on it in seperate Oracle homes.
    $./rwbuilder.sh

  • Concate column into char in report builder

    Helllo!
I am working on a report in report builder 6.0.8.27.0 connected to a 10g database.
In my report i summarize a workers pick performance over a specified period of time on each new row (things like picks, active pick time). Most of the data is summarized using the in-built sum-function in report builder. But i have also a column in my table where i want to concate/aggregate the work zones(physical locations) that a worker has been in over a day.
A simplified example of how my input query table can look like:
    user | picks | inlogged_time | work_zone
    mav | 100 | 10 | AREA1
    mav | 200 | 30 | AREA2
    ant | 100 | 10 | AREA3
    max | 100 | 10 | AREA3
This should generate a report that has this structure:
    user | picks | inlogged_time | work_zone
    mav | 300 | 30 | AREA1, AREA2
    ant | 100 | 10 | AREA3
    max | 100 | 10 | AREA3
My problem is i dont know how to concate the work_zones togheter. I tried using the PL/SQL editor for a function (using vm_concate()), but i could not get it to work and i can't use a new Select statement in my PL/SQL editor because the tables are to large for doing a new query on each row.
    Grateful for any help!
    Regards,
    Martin

    Hi,
A small modification to the above query ....
with data as ( select 'mav' username, 100 picks, 10 inlogged_time, 'AREA1' work_zone from dual union all
select 'mav' username, 200 picks, 30 inlogged_time,'AREA2' work_zone from dual union all
select 'ant' username, 100 picks, 10 inlogged_time, 'AREA3' work_zone from dual union all
    select 'max' username, 100 picks, 10 inlogged_time, 'AREA3' work_zone from dual  )
    select username, sum(picks) picks , sum(inlogged_time) inlogged_time , wm_concat(work_zone) work_zone
    from  data
