Regarding Solution Manager 4.0
Hi,
Can you please tell me what activities we can do with Solution Manager 4.0 and the prerequisites for monitoring those activities.
Hi Eechaneri,
SAP Solution Manager 4.0 supports the following scenarios:
 Service Desk
 Implementation of SAP Solutions
 Upgrade of SAP Solutions
 Change Management
 Solution Monitoring
 Delivery of SAP Services
 Root Cause Analyses
 SAP Solution Support Enablement Package
 SAP Quality Center by HP
 One Transport Order (OTO)
These scenarios are described in the Master Guide for SAP Solution Manager 4.0, which you can download from the http://service.sap.com/instguides --> Tools & Methods --> SAP Components -->SAP Solution Manager.
Beware that the following scenarios are NOT core functionality of SAP Solution Manager. You have to order them separately:
- SAP Solution Support Enablement Package
- SAP Quality Center by HP
Hope this is useful

Where are the actual documents stored in solution manager (KW)?
Hello,
I have a question regarding Solution Manager and storing documentation.
When we in our process structure in a project uploads a word document
(as documentation), where are the file then physically stored?
I have checked the table SA01PHIO (a KW table), here I see a new entry every time I
upload a new word document (or other type of documentation). But this
table does not grow accordingly to the size of the word documents I
upload, so the physical document must be stored somewhere else in the
database.
The description of field 'PHIO_ID' in table SA01PHIO is "Physical document", but since the field is of type char (size 32), then it can only be a link to the actual file?
We need to know where the documents are stored, so that we can plan our
storage strategy and database space management accordingly.
Anyone knows where the files are stored in the database?
Thanks in advance.
RegardsSamuli,
Thank you for your help.
After further searches, I have found exactly what I was looking for.
Samuli, as you said, documents are stored in table SACONT01, but I did not understand how they were stored, as all the data you have in this table is something like:
FF06010102028000343130320000000074040000121F9D02A37D7259692086C2F0D7761017222...
So the information can be benefit to other people searching, I will share it here.
The string of alpha-numeric characters you see above is a "part" of the document.
Document data is cut into clusters, and stored in table SACONT01 (in field CLUSTD, coupled with CLUSTR).
In order to retrieve all the clusters for a given document, you need to get its logical ID (LOIO - LOgical Information on Object):
- Select the document (SOLAR01/02 for projects, SOLMAN_DIRECTORY for solutions)
- Enter DOC_INFO in the transaction code field
- Copy the Object ID
In table SA01PHIO, retrieve the physical id(s) from the logical id (PHIO - PHysical Information on Object).
Search SACONT01 with the physical id(s).
Just as an example:
- 340 entries for a Word document (about 50 pages)
- 57000 entries for a video (200 MB)
Hope it will help.

Rémi. -

Is Solution Manager mandatory for getting support for SAP 4.7?
Hi,
We received a letter from SAP regarding Solution Manager which stated:
"Commencing on April 2, 2007, SAP Solution Manager will be the only source from which customers receive maintenance updates for SAP NetWeaver 2004s and beyond, as well as applications based upon it (including mySAP Business Suite 2005 applications)."
We are still using SAP 4.7. We do not use Solution Manager. Does this statement mean that for getting any updates / support patches on 4.7, we will need to implement Solution Manager?
Can anybody clarify your understanding or SAP's stand on this?

Query Regarding Documentation in Solution Manager
Solution Manager Library says that when we do any configuration or testing ,automatically the document(Configuration Document or Test Script) gets generated. Can we have an Overview of how Solution Manager handles Documentation. If Automatic Documentation is Possible what are the settings to be done and where to view the Documents?
Hi,
You con do it in 3 different levels for example:
1. At Business Scenario, go to the TAB General Documentation and put all your document related to this Scenario
2. At Process, same as Business Scenario
3. At Process Step, same as Business Scenario.
Note: all the documentation for the project you are in this moment must be in the TAB Proj. Documentation so to reference the documentation you allready have on Gen documentation Go to Copy/Lynk and the chose "Lynk to project doc. Tab".
