    If the key word table contains a blank line, blank statements are also selected.

    When macro calls are expanded, no position specifications are available. The corresponding fields in the token table itab2 and the statement table itab3 are then set to 0.

    This addition has the same effect as the WITH INCLUDES addition, except that with the former include programs belonging to type groups are broken down into tokens.

    Within the implementation of every instance method, an implicitly created local reference variable called me is available, which points to the instance in which the method is currently being executed. The static type of me is the class in which the instance method is implemented.
    Each class implicitly contains the reference variable me. In objects, the reference variable mealways contains a reference to the respective object itself and is therefore also referred to as the self-reference. Within a class, you can use the self-reference me to access the individual class components:
    -To access an attribute attr of your class: me->attr
    -To call a method meth of your class: CALL METHOD me->meth
    When you work with attributes of your own class in methods, you do not need to specify a reference variable. The self-reference me is implicitly set by the system. Self-references allow an object to give other objects a reference to it. You can also access attributes in methods from within an object even if they are obscured by local attributes of the method.

    The Open SQL statements INSERT, UPDATE, MODIFY, and DELETE allow you to program database changes that extend over several dialog steps. Even if you have not explicitly programmed a database commit, the implicit database commit that occurs after a screen has been processed concludes the database LUW. The following diagram shows the individual database LUWs in a typical screen sequence:
    Under this procedure, you cannot roll back the database changes from previous dialog steps. It is therefore only suitable for programs in which there is no logical relationship between the individual dialog steps.
    However, the database changes in individual dialog steps normally depend on those in other dialog steps, and must therefore all be executed or rolled back together. These dependent database changes form logical units, and can be grouped into a single database LUW using the bundling techniques listed below.
    A logical unit consisting of dialog steps, whose changes are written to the database in a single database LUW is called an SAP LUW. Unlike a database LUW, an SAP LUW can span several dialog steps, and be executed using a series of different work processes. If an SAP LUW contains database changes, you should either write all of them or none at all to the database. To ensure that this happens, you must include a database commit when your transaction has ended successfully, and a database rollback in case the program detects an error. However, since database changes from a database LUW cannot be reversed in a subsequent database LUW, you must make all of the database changes for the SAP LUW in a single database LUW. To maintain data integrity, you must bundle all of you database changes in the final database LUW of the SAP LUW. The following diagram illustrates this principle:
    Database Logical Unit of Work (LUW)
    From the point of view of database programming, a database LUW is an inseparable sequence of database operations that ends with a database commit. The database LUW is either fully executed by the database system or not at all. Once a database LUW has been successfully executed, the database will be in a consistent state. If an error occurs within a database LUW, all of the database changes since the beginning of the database LUW are reversed. This leaves the database in the state it was in before the transaction started.
    The database changes that occur within a database LUW are not actually written to the database until after the database commit. Until this happens, you can use a database rollback to reverse the changes. In the R/3 System, database commits and rollbacks can be triggered either implicitly or using explicit commands.
    Implicit Database Commits in the R/3 System
    A work process can only execute a single database LUW. The consequence of this is that a work process must always end a database LUW when it finishes its work for a user or an external call. Work processes trigger an implicit database commit in the following situations:
    When a dialog step is completed
    Control changes from the work process back to the SAP GUI.
    When a function module is called in another work process (RFC).
    Control passes to the other work process.
    When the called function module (RFC) in the other work process ends.
    Control returns to the calling work process.
    When a WAIT statement interrupts the work process.
    Control passes to another work process.
    Error dialogs (information, warning, or error messages) in dialog steps.
    Control passes from the work process to the SAP GUI.
    Explicit Database Commits in the R/3 System
    There are two ways to trigger an explicit database commit in your application programs:
    Call the function module DB_COMMIT
    The sole task of this function module is to start a database commit.
    Use the ABAP statement COMMIT WORK
    This statement starts a database commit, but also performs other tasks (refer to the keyword documentation for COMMIT WORK).
    Implicit Database Rollbacks in the R/3 System
    The following cases lead to an implicit database rollback:
    Runtime error in an application program
    This occurs whenever an application program has to terminate because of an unforeseen situation (for example, trying to divide by zero).
    Termination message
    Termination messages are generated using the ABAP statement MESSAGE with the message type A or X. In certain cases (updates), they are also generated with message types I, W, and E. These messages end the current application program.
    Explicit Database Rollbacks in the R/3 System
    You can trigger a database rollback explicitly using the ABAP statement ROLLBACK WORK. This statement starts a database rollback, but also performs other tasks (refer to the keyword documentation for COMMIT WORK).
    From the above, we can draw up the following list of points at which database LUWs begin and end.
    A Database LUW Begins
    Each time a dialog step starts (when the dialog step is sent to the work process).
    Whenever the previous database LUW ends in a database commit.
    Whenever the previous database LUW ends in a database rollback.
    A Database LUW Ends
    Each time a database commit occurs. This writes all of the changes to the database.
    Each time a database rollback occurs. This reverses all of the changes made during the LUW.
    Database LUWs and Database Locks
    As well as the database changes made within it, a database LUW also consists of database locks. The database system uses locks to ensure that two or more users cannot change the same data simultaneously, since this could lead to inconsistent data being written to the database. A database lock can only be active for the duration of a database LUW. They are automatically released when the database LUW ends. In order to program SAP LUWs, we need a lock mechanism within the R/3 System that allows us to create locks with a longer lifetime (refer to The R/3 Locking Concept).
    The bundling technique for database changes within an SAP LUW ensures that you can still reverse them. It also means that you can distribute a transaction across more than one work process, and even across more than one R/3 System. The possibilities for bundling database changes within an SAP LUW are listed below:
    The simplest form of bundling would be to process a whole application within a single dialog step. Here, the system checks the user’s input and updates the database without a database commit occurring within the dialog step itself. Of course, this is not suitable for complex business processes. Instead, the R/3 Basis system contains the following bundling techniques.
    Bundling using Function Modules for Updates
    If you call a function module using the CALL FUNCTION... IN UPDATE TASK statement, the function module is flagged for execution using a special update work process. This means that you can write the Open SQL statements for the database changes in the function module instead of in your program, and call the function module at the point in the program where you would otherwise have included the statements. When you call a function module using the IN UPDATE TASK addition, it and its interface parameters are stored as a log entry in a special database table called VBLOG.
    The function module is executed using an update work process when the program reaches the COMMIT WORK statement. After the COMMIT WORK statement, the dialog work process is free to receive further user input. The dialog part of the transaction finishes with the COMMIT WORK statement. The update part of the SAP LUW then begins, and this is the responsibility of the update work process. The SAP LUW is complete once the update process has committed or rolled back all of the database changes.
    For further information about how to create function modules for use in update, refer to Creating Function Modules for Database Updates
    During the update, errors only occur in exceptional cases, since the system checks for all logical errors, such as incorrect entries, in the dialog phase of the SAP LUW. If a logical error occurs, the program can terminate the update using the ROLLBACK WORK statement. Then, the function modules are not called, and the log entry is deleted from table VBLOG. Errors during the update itself are usually technical, for example, memory shortage. If a technical error occurs, the update work process triggers a database rollback, and places the log entry back into VBLOG. It then sends a mail to the user whose dialog originally generated the VBLOG entry with details of the termination. These errors must be corrected by the system administrator. After this, the returned VBLOG entries can be processed again.
    For further information about update administration, see Update Administration
    This technique of bundling database changes in the last database LUW of the SAP LUW allows you to update the database asynchronously, reducing the response times in the dialog work process. You can, for example, decouple the update entirely from the dialog work process and use a central update work process on a remote database server.
    Bundling Using Subroutines
    The statement PERFORM ON COMMIT calls a subroutine in the dialog work process. However, it is not executed until the system reaches the next COMMIT WORK statement. Here, as well, the ABAP statement COMMIT WORK defines the end of the SAP LUW, since all statements in a subroutine called with PERFORM ON COMMIT that make database changes are executed in the database LUW of the corresponding dialog step.
    The advantage of this bundling technique against CALL FUNCTION... IN UPDATE TASK is better performance, since the update data does not have to be written into an extra table. The disadvantage, however, is that you cannot pass parameters in a PERFORM... ON COMMIT statement. Data is passed using global variables and ABAP memory. There is a considerable danger of data inconsistency when you use this method to pass data.
    Bundling Using Function Modules in Other R/3 Systems
    Function modules that you call using CALL FUNCTION... IN BACKGROUND TASK DESTINATION... are registered for background execution in another R/3 System when the program reaches the next COMMIT WORK statement (using Remote Function Call). After the COMMIT WORK, the dialog process does not wait for these function modules to be executed (asynchronous update). All of the function modules that you register in this way are executed together in a single database LUW. These updates are useful, for example, when you need to maintain identical data in more than one database.

    I am asked to use bapi's(Instead of BDC's) for data upload .I am not getting good documentation on 'USING BAPI's IN ABAP',Like Defining structures, and what are the FM's to be called like bapi_commit.

    Maybe this is going off topic a little, bit perhaps also its relevant as you have been asked to move from BDC's to BAPIs.

    When I talk about debugging, there are two levels to this:
    <b>1. Debugging by the programmer</b>
    In this case, how can it be easier to debug an error from a BAPI than from the screen?  For a sales order, for example, when you enter a delivery date of 01.01.2000 for an item, via BDC you will get an error message as the item is entered (something along the lines of delivery date is in the past), and you will see exactly the date you have entered, and if you don't understand the error, you can click on F1 and it will give you the long description of the error.  Via a BAPI, you would get the error message, and you MIGHT get the item number and the date in question.  But if you don't understand the error what do you do then?  Debug the BAPI itself?  You could, but isn't this a rather lengthy way to get to the root of the problem?  In general, any errors you get calling BAPIs/BDCs are errors with your master data, or breaking business rules, you shouldn't have to debug standard code to tell you whats going wrong, the application can tell you.
    <b>2. Debugging by the end user</b>
    When you implement a BAPI/BDC this will be related to an interface/automated transaction etc.  When its in production you will occassionally get errors (due to bad master data, not fully capturing all the business logic in your custom coding [it happens], technical issues etc.)  What do you do then?  In the case of BDC you can do nothing.  The error is recorded, and you can get end users to process the errors by stepping through the screens (which they already know how to use) and make corrections as required.  In the case of BAPIs, you have to record the error in a table or a file, then develop some kind of interface to display the errors, then develop some kind of process for re-processing the errors.  If the data used to call the BAPI is not correct then you also need to provide a facility for changing the data before reprocessing.  Normally you do none of this because its too much work and you end up having all errors coming back to the SAP team who have to debug and change table entries etc. to get it all to work.  I would not say that this makes BAPIs easier to debug.
    Oops, just realised my pasta is burning!!!
    Anyway, think I got my point across.  Not personal but feel quite strongly about this topic.  To me BDC's are still a relevant tool despite the push for Idocs/BAPIs.

  • Using enhancement COPA0001 in a derivation to clear value fields

    Dear colleagues,
    In our sales process, freight is added as an item of the sales order, which means we maintain different freight types as materials (mat type ZFRE - "Freight") and we create cost estimates, so that this cost can be valuated into COPA.
    Our problem is that we do not want to capture the cost of goods sold and the cost of sales for those materialss, as they only represent the freight cost that is paid by us and reimbursed by our customers. In addition, I we would like to move the value of the revenue value field to another value field (Freight sales).
    I am trying to accomplish this by using enhancement COPA0001 - I created an enhancement step and I added a code to include ZXKKEU11 which specifies the "clear" of 2 value fields and the "move" of the revenue to another value field.
    I had done this in the past to clear quantity fields, but I am testing this new config and it doesn't work.
    When testing the derivation analyzer tells me that "Derivation was not carried out. Reason: None of the target fields are to be derived".
    I looked in the known resources, but couldn't find any valuable information about such an issue. I did see in the SAP library that target fields can be "All quantity unit fields" , but value fields are not mentioned.
    Did anyone have a similar experience or knows if what I'm trying to do is possible?

    1. What does your sale order look like? Does it has one saleable material + Multiple freight materials?
    2. What purpose these freight materials serve? Do they have a revenue as well as cost in the sale order pricing procedure?
    3. Can you explain your total scenario with accounting entries? and what exactly are you looking at

  • How to use RTRIM function in ABAP

    Hey,
    I have a question on using trim function in ABAP. According to all documents, I should be able to use rtrim as
    shorttext = rtrim('abcde-xx', '-xx').
    But when I do that, it gives me an error message "Comma without preceding colon (after shorttest?)"
    Anyone can tell me why is this happening? how should I use this trim function? And for me to cut off variable's last few character, what else method can I use?

           What is the exact use of macros in abap-hr.Because in normal abap also these macros are existing , but we will not use these in normal abap programming.So is there any specific reason for using macros in ABAP-HR.

    This is similar to Logical Database usage. We use LDBs in HR more than in other module. SAP has created many macros that can be used in HR. Ex: you have some macros to make use of when using PNP LDB in your program. Similarly SAP provided macros to read text from PCL1 cluster table. Same thing with reading payroll results. In addition you also can define your own macros in the program and use them in the code.

    I use WL6.1 SP4, Oracle 8.1.6, with some Java objects which execute a

    of SQL queries (mixed update, insert and select) using plain JDBC
    calls,
    and Weblogic connection pools. These objects are called by servlets.
    I experienced recently deadlocks when two users call the object at the
    same
    time (See error below).
    I execute the queries using "synchronized" keyword in the following
    way:
    synchronized (this)
    conConnection.setAutoCommit(false);
    executeTransaction(myStatement);
    conConnection.commit();
    executeTransaction is overriden in sub-classes and is the method which
    executes
    all the queries.
    It calls methods in other objects. These methods are not declared as
    synchronized.
    1) Should they?
    2) Should I use the keyword "synchronized" in another way?
    3) This part of code is also called when I do only "select"
    statements. I guess
    it should only be synchronized when we do "update" and "insert" which

    of your java objects. It has to do with the order in which you accessDBMS
    data. You are getting ordinary DBMS deadlocks, which are caused when

    I am using JDK 1.6.0_11 , and i was trying to create a java program using "native" keyword ,

    But when i type this command " C:\javah -stubs Happy " following error occurs

    then typed " c:\javah -jni Happy" without any error .

    you do need to know how to use your C compiler... It quite clearly can't find those files which indicates that you didn't tell it where to find them.

    I have a problem using RUNLOGIC keyword within Script logic. Both scripts are mentioned below.
    Following scenario:
    - combination of DESTINATION_APP and LOOKUP to multiply values from two source applications in order to to write results in target application
    - data volume in source application VALCHAIN are approx 187.000 records; source app SALES = 500 records
    - created data records in target application QUANTITIES are approx 204.000 records
    Running LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF without "RUNLOGIC" keyword:
    - time to execute logic and write records: 10-12 minutes
    - created records 204.000
    Running LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF via CALL_RUNLOGIC.LGF
    - script does not finish; system produces dumps
    - Tcode ST22 shows error messages called "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" as well as "SYSTEM_NO_ROLL" as well as "CALL_FUNCTION_SEND_ERROR"
    Does anybody have a guess for that? Any answer appreciated.

    Hello,
    This error comes up when there is no enough memory.
    How many members do you have in PRODUCT and how many parallel processes did you set up in PARALLELSCRIPT?
    Also, I'd suggest to put *XDIM_MEMBERSET PRODUCT = %PRODUCT_SET% in your LOGIC01_QUANTITIES.LGF script.
    Did you get anything in RUNLOGIC log? In UJFS you can find logs for every parallel process ran, name if it is just it's time stamp.
    Can you see from those what scripts ran and with what parameters?
    This should simplify resolution of your issue.

    A program is presenting a problem and I think that in this code:

          ZMM001-MATERIAL       IN R_1_163431035_PRODUTO.
      ELSE.
      ENDIF.
    What happens is that the value "ZMM001-SPEED" B not exist in "R1_163431035_VELOCIDADE" but the program executes commands under the IF and not under the ELSE, as I imagine it would work. Is this correct ?
    I am new to ABAP programming, but I have a lot of XP in other programming languages ​​and this makes no sense to me.
    Anyone know where I can find some documentation of the use of "TVARV" in ABAP programs?
