REGEXP_REPLACE and CONNECT BY

Question

I have table1 with the following columns:
pk, col1;
with data:
1, PP;
2,P;
3,PPPPP;
How do I get it to show so that I repeat the records as many P there are in col1, like:
1,PP;
1,PP;
2,P;
3,PPPPP;
3,PPPPP;
3,PPPPP;
3,PPPPP;
3,PPPPP;
I have the following query, which works for the first record, meaning that it returns
1,PP;
1,PP;
but for 2, and 3, it shows a pattern that I can't recognize. What am I missing in the query?
