It could be far much easier to register if there is an automatizied mechanisim that shows if the proposed username is available!
Why!?
Registering with a complex password like mine that has 24 characters which I had to type twice only to get the message that the name is already in use. This went on for 6 times, till I was able to register after much time and much hassle !
If I may suggest! Why not implementing a better registration method to avoid this hassle; like after typing the username pressing Enter to verify the availability of the chosen username. Once this is done then it’s a 1 minuet matter to complete the registration.

I have succesfully added the Self Registration portlet to our site, but would like to customize the fields that the portlet uses, make some required, etc....

You have not mentioned the Portal version!!
Refer following for respective Portal version. For customizing the fileds, you may have to create your own custom self registration form for this. You have to use the DBMS_LDAP APIs to get the information updated in OID.

This script is present at HOME/portal/admin/plsql directory
2.In Global Settings ,Under Self-Registration Options section, select Enable Users To Log On Immediately if you want users to be able to log on to Oracle9iAS Portal immediately after they create their own user account using the self-registration feature.
3.customize the Login portlet to include a self-registration link.

Why am I getting the 0x80020022 error when writing to my DVD?

I started to get this error the other day. I can't write anything to the DVD drive. It reads just fine. I saw a possible fix on Bing
saying to "Repair Disc Permissions". I tried that to no avail. I thinking of a complete format and reinstall. This is an iMac
that was purchased in April 2010 running OS 10.6.8. I hope someone has an answer.

Tech support seemed to think that it had something to do with credit card registration. Suggested that I use a different credit card. I modified my account settings with a different card and still had the same errors. At this time I have no confidence that Apple has any idea what the problem is.

Balance in transaction currency can happen normally at the time of billing(due to auto excise creation) or during excise invoice creation or at the time of Utilizations.
This can happen due to many times we might be missing the data relevant of GLs in CIN Master data & Credit-Debitor accounts for your excise amounts(for the combination with Excise transaction type)
Please check the tables J_1ITRNACC & J_1IEXCACC.(this second table i am not sure--will be maintained in IMG>>Log-General>>>India>> account determination also you need to check the indicators like AED,SED,NCCD etc for your Excise registrations)
As suggested--please search in google before posting.

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.

Quicktime Pro Registration Failure, Any Suggestions?

I 'bought' the quicktime pro key from the apple store 48 hours ago and still haven't recieved it. I was directed by the phone store customer service to fill out the request for help form online, which I did 24 hours ago, still no response - no key.
I followed the link that says:
"I can't find my QuickTime Pro key. Is there a way to get it again?
Absolutely. Simply click the link below, and we'll take you right to the web page where you can retrieve your key. You will need to sign in, so have your Apple ID and password ready."
And it just lists the software that I've bought but no key and no clickable links.
I just called and they said it could be another 2 days before I get my key. Is this normal? Does it strike anyone else as odd that it would take 4 days to email a key for software?
This should be an entirely electronic process. Choose the item, pay with card, recieve key. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes, should it?
Anyone have a similar experience or any advice?

This was just resolved, sort of. I got an email from Apple saying:

Partner Application Registration

When using the Administer Partner Applications page, it appears the application is not being registered completely. The information does not appear in the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$ table, as has been suggested in prior posts (everything is fine in WWSSO_PAPP_CONFIGURATION_INFO$).
I am attempting to deploy the SSO SDK demo PL/SQL application, which works fine when logged into Portal. However, when not logged into Portal, I receive the following errors:
"Error in application: missing application registration information
Please register this application as described in installation guide"
This error is driven by the PL/SQL exception:
"wwsec_sso_enabler_private.enabler_config_not_found"
What am I missing? I have created several Partner applications, and none of them appear in the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$ table. I have sucessfully loaded the SSOHash into my partner schemas.

Portal 3.0.7

Thanks for the info; however, I'm still unable to get the SSO SDK sample, or any partner app, to work.
I have read the docs, what little there is, and followed the steps closely. Everything executes ok.
I have several questions:
1. When executing the REGAPP.SQL script that comes with the SDK, it indicates to login as the partner schema. I have noticed when running this script, the entry is stored in the partner schema table WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$, not the one owned by Portal. Is this correct?
2. My partner app is really a PL/SQL Server Page (PSP) application which uses the same server as Portal. When entering the Listener Token name, I have been using the same server name as Portal. Is this a problem? What is this token used for? Must it be unique for each partner application?
3. In your response you mentioned changes to the REGAPP script. I found no mention of any changes in the docs with SSO SDK. Am I missing something?
Finally, is there any better documentation for the SDK and/or partner application configuration. The readme and install files do not, in my opinion, pass as documentation.

Jabber 9.1 Registration To CUCM 8.6.2

Good evening,
I have a problem I am hoping someone can answer for me. I have a CUCM/ Unity Connection/ CUP platform which are all 8.6x
I have configured all the components and I am currently trying to get Jabber to work, I have 1 user who has 2 clients he wants to use. One client is is home Mac and the other his work Windows based laptop.
Jabber 8.6.4 on the Mac works 100% the client can call, access voicemail and use IM with no issues. The same user when he tries to login with his Windows based client gets IM and authenticates to Unity Connection OK but the client does not register with CUCM and therefore he cannot dial out and so all telephony functionality is unavailable. The options in the windows client only show Phone accounts for the voicemail server which all look OK.
It looks to me that the windows client is not getting the correct paramters from the jabber-xml file (infact I cant find one in the tftp server which is CUCM) or maybe I need to have 2 softphones detailed in CUCM, i.e one for each client (MAC & PC). I have all the CCMCIP and trunking etc working fine, along with the relevant AXL, LDAP and CTI users set up ok.
Anyone have an idea of where I may be going wrong ?

I have tried your suggestion but while the symptoms are slightly different I am still not able to get the Windows client to register with CUCM.
If I disable the softphone on the mac client then exit Jabber on the mac, then I open the Windows client initially the results are exactly the same. However if I then sign out of the windows client and back in I get the option on the bottom right of the client to choose the softphone source (i.e computer or deskphone) but then no matter which one I choose the client sits at the setting phone prompt and still does not register.
I guess one option for me may be to run a WIndows client on the home Mac using VMware fusion and use the same client, hopefully then the graceful softphone registration may work between devices running the same client?

Suggestion for a new OCA / OCE exam

I have noticed that there are a lot of candidates who learn for an exam. There seems to be a lot of incentive to studying for the exam and "learning" the material.
However, there are also a lot of candidates who do not understand the 'certification', 'learning', 'followup' processes. It also seems that if there is no reward, such as a certificate, skills and processes are overlooked or misunderstood.
I suggest an OCA (or perhaps an OCE) level exam that tests the candidate for "How to find information on Education.oracle.com, Certification.oracle.com, Certview.oracle.com, Tahiti.oracle.com, OTN.oracle.com"; "What happens after you write the exam and how long do I have to wait"; "Why I should have only one testing ID"; "What is a FAQ"; "Ability to use internet search engines and how to formulate questions"; "Why do forum administrators bother with Forum Stickies", and the like.
While somewhat tongue-in-cheek (or at least cheeky), I encourage thinking about this. We are churning out people who supposedly are professionals, and yet some have no idea what that 'professional' icon means or where to find out more information about it.

Well not an OCA or an OCE certificate but perhaps an OCS, and that could be useful for partners as well. The problem is if offered online it would be abused.
I get concerned when a candidate newly registered for OTN has just passed the high stakes exam for an OCA wonders where their certificate is. It is a concern they don't seem to have researched the certification process much. The lack of familiarity with the certification process seems slightly concerning ... and there is probably a lack of familiarity with the Oracle websites as well, which is not what one would expect from a certified person.
The new OTN registration isn't a definite indicator of a problem here, but it is a strong indicator there may be something unsatisfactory.
Indeed the absolute worse case is an SQL exam online by proxy taker followed by braindump use or a proxy take of the high stakes exams.
In practice I would suspect that an unbalanced delivery of the WDP training or third party training or university training may be a culprit. (and I may be wrong here). (Note there seems to be an increasing tendency for some universities to focus on education by certification study ... ).
I really think it would be useful if a candidate was required to register with Oracle (by means of an SSO/OTN account) before being able to book a certification examination rather than being simply able to goto Pearson VUE/Prometric (This is the case with a lot of other Testing programmes, and was the case with Sun until recently). IMHO This would encourage a good 'first contact' with Oracle and would encourage the following benefits:
- A relationship with Oracle would be established sooner during the exam preparation process.
- There would be an opportunity to point the candidate at useful processes, authorized learning methods and resources via email.
- An earlier point in the learning process to discourage bad learning technique
- The sales people would love the opportunity to sell oracle training.
I think there is an argument for requiring OTN registration at least a month before a certification exam can be booked ... exceptions being if an Oracle University Course has been attended. However the logistics would probably fail on this and it could hurt people who have just left an employment.
