Reimport an Image

Hi,
I am getting the error "Location \sixers\c:\images not accessible" when I tried to Reimport an image in Data Manager. I am trying to Reimport by right click on the image in Images table and select Reimport option.  I loaded the image as a Link by selecting option "Link to original file only"  when loading the image
Any suggestions will be appriciated.
Thanks
vara

Hi Vara,
Since the error is <b>Location \sixers\c:\images not accessible</b> I would like to share the way i followed..
Sometimes, one may want to reimport a new/different or same image into an existing image record<u> while preserving all of the links to the original image across the different image lookup fields of the repository.</u>
in this case, you may  reimport one or more images from their original source locations:
a) for that in the Records pane, select the image record(s) you want to reimport.
b) then Right-click on one of the records and choose Reimport from the context menu, or choose Objects  Reimport from the main menu to open the Reimport Images dialog.MDM places Use original data group(s) into the Data Groupdrop-down list, and places the selected image filename(s) into the Filespane.
You can use the Data Group drop-down list to select a new data group to be applied to all of the reimported images.
c) finally,Click OK to close the Reimport Images dialog and reimport the images from the original locations. MDM opens the Reimporting Images progress dialog to indicate the status as it reimports each of the images.
Moreover, details about replacing images are available @

  • How do I move back photos from an external drive (but iPhoto library on Mac hd) to the Mac HD without reimporting all images again in iPhoto?

    The following scenario:

now I want to copy back the photos from the external HD to the mac hd and I want iPhoto to know the new location of all these photos (couple of 10 thounsands)
How do I do that without reimporting all images again into iPhoto

do you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or referenced library (you have unchecked that option)
    What version of iPhoto?
    Do you have Aperature 3.3?

  • Reimport image after modifying in Photoshop CC from Lightroom 5.3

Tilla week ago I used to work on a PC. When modifying an image from Lightroom into Photoshop 6 the image was automatically reimported in the origin folder,
I am now on a MacPro and when I modify an image in Photoshop CC from Lightroom 5.3 it reimports the image in a ghost directory with the same name than the origin directory. It is accessible but seen as a different diretctory with the same name. When I try to copy the image in the origin directory I have a message that an image with the same name is already present in the directory. It can not be seen and I can not pile the new and old images together. What can I do?

Lightroom, no.  You need a graphics editor.  If Photoshop Extended does what you need, why not keep using it?   Creative Cloud Photography plan | Adobe Creative Cloud
Elements is a significantly simpler version of Photoshop.  It might do what you need but it lacks the finer bells & whistles offered by Extended.

  • How to I get high res thumbnail images?

Just discovered once I've imported images into my library Aperture 3.2.2 (running under 10.7.3) doesn't render high res thumbnail images (when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is set to the far right/maximum), even though my "Previews" preference settings are as follows:
"Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible" is unchecked
"Don't Limit" for Photo Preview is selected
Photo Preview quality set to 10
Deleting and regenerating thumbnails doesn't solve the issue. However, if I delete the photo from the referenced library, then reimport the image, the browser thumbnail image renders sharp. The low res thumbnail is at left; high res thumbnail (after re-import) is at right. Both thumbnails images are sharp when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is positioned in the middle. Photos render sharp in the Viewer, regardless.
Going back through my images, it seems Aperture stopped providing a sharp thumbnail image since around July 2010. Other than updating Aperture, my workflow or supported camera hasn't changed. Couldn't find a reference to this issue in the User Manual. Am I missing something a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Its unclear if the command Generate Thumbnails actually does anything if the thumbs already exist and as there isn;t a Delete Thumbnails command like there is a Delete preview command there are only two ways to force a new thumb to be generated.
One is to import the image again and two is to delete the Thumbnail folder in the Aperture library. I don;t know for sure if this will fix you problem but as I said it is the only way to force the generation of the thumbs.
If you try this make sure you have a good working backup of the library. Nothing here will normally cause data loss but it is always a good idea before messing with the library.
Quit Aperture, Highlight the library in the Finder and right click, Select show package contents. One fo the folders you'll see is Thumbnails, delete it. Open Aperture.
Also be aware that the regeneration of the thumbs will take some time. Depending on the size of the library it could be an all day affair. Aperture is usable while this is going on but it will be slower.

  • Aperture 3.5.1 suddenly unable to render images for the external plugins?

Today when I started to create HDR images using the Photomatix plugin, the dialog: 'Editing Error This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format.' appeared.  The exact same set of images was processed by the exact same plugin yesterday.  Subsequently I tried editing the images with other plugins receiving the same error message.  Similarly I was unable to use Photoshop as the external editor on the images.  I also reimported the images with the same results.  Might I add that Aperture is perfectly able to export the images as TIFF files. It would appear that my copy of Aperture is no longer able to work with plugins.  How is this possible when nothing else has changed?

Thanks.  Yah, been messing around and found it.  Didn't realise it was IPTC data so I never hit the drop down to see what was under it.  Dropped one clanger in that I deleted the Copyright Notice from the dropdown as I didn't want to find it stamped it twice as all the images get it on import.  Because I deselected it though, it actually deleted what was there.  Easy enough to fix of course but, IIRC if you select the Lift / Stamp to lift all the keywords, I seem to recall it stamps them again if you inadvertently re-stamp an image you've already done.
I try to keep this as uncomplicated as possible, could never decide whether to go with title or caption, I guess it matters neither way, unless doing this professionally in which case I guess there are IPTC conventions.

  • EMF images embedded in Excel 2010 documents don't display when the same document is loaded into Excel 2013

I have a fairly large spreadsheet which creates layout floorplan maps based on a table of 3,000+ room locations and various cross-referenced attribute lookup tables which add flags & colour coding to the individual rooms. The maps also
include a few graphic elements beyond simple cells and borders, such as EMF images to indicate stairways, etc.
The sheet works perfectly on my Win7 desktop in Excel 2010:
However when loaded into Excel 2013 on my Win7 laptop, all of the images show as a red cross with the wording "This image cannot currently be displayed", thus:
Any ideas, as this looks like a bug in Excel 2013? Thanks.

    Hi Andre,
What happens if you reimport the images from original source?
Try Running Excel Program firstly, and then open this file within Excel (File->Open).Also if you have Excel 2010 installed , try to open the file using Excel 2010, copy an paste the content to a blank Excel file.
You can also try to check the option 'Disable hardware graphics acceleration'. File->Options->Advanced ...

  • Editing Error - This Image cannot be rendered for editing...

Editing Error - This Image cannot be rendered for editingbecause Aperture doesn't support the image format.
Thats the message that appears when I'm exporting to Photoshop CS5 (I tried CS4 too), or even other Plug-ins such as Silver Efex Pro...
That had never happened before, and I use Aperture for over 2 years.
Its RAW image format from the same camera and all, nothing has changed. just randomly decided not to export anymore to other programs, Regular exporting works, so it's nothing to do with exporting it self, but the communication between aperture and other softwares, I think.
I've seen some other people having the same problem, does anyone have a take on it, in how to solve this? I can't edit anymore outside of aperture. (of course not including the idea of exporting and doing everything away from aperture, which is totally not viable with the amount of content to be edited and not being in aperture anymore.)
I've tried deleting the preferences, tried repair permissions of the Library, and still didn't work.
Didn't go to the other 2 options (repair and rebuild database) because it would take days if chosen, and still not sure that would solve. or if has anything to do with.
    Any light anyone?

What kind of file is it? (i.e.jpeg, Canon RAW, Nikon RAW etc..)
As a workaround until you get the issue fixed, why not reimport the image from the original file, lift and stamp any adjustments you've made in Aperture, and see if the same problem occurs?

  • Changing image file names

    hi all.
can anyone help me find a thread (can i run a search somehow in ("Your Stuff"?) where folks were kind enough to help me understand how to change file names?
i am reading through some help documentation on Batch Change but i am trying to remember what i should be doing to most efficiently solve my problem.
basically i have images in aperture which have non-sensical names related to their originally existing in a pc folder organization originally and i would like to both rename them in aperture but also be able to have them EXPORTED to my desktop so i can upload them to the web with some reasonable sounding title such as "client1-town1-HousingType-FirmName-photographer.png" or something similar. right now the images i want to publish are ORGANIZED IN ALBUMS and have names like "folio_construction_other_turtle_134543.png"
i think i WOULD LIKE to change the name of the master but i am not totally sure about this and when i run a Metadata > Batch Change and pull down version name i get selections that i do not fully understand.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/yvu1u7eskbmhcik/Screen%20Shot%202012-12-03%20at%201.58 .46%20PM.png
i /am/ familiar with a handle little tool called Name Mangler which basically allows me to easily delete all the PREFIX information (such as "folio_construction_other_turtle" and then to pre-pend something like "client1-town1-HousingType-FirmName-photographer" in front of the image number which would be ideal...
apologies for asking this again but until i get through it once i am finding it all a bit tricky.
    THANKS

    Hi Leonie.
Thank you so much. I am going to be doing a lot of this and just so i understand:
Delete the images you exported and renamed from your Aperture library before reimporting, to avoid creating duplicates. When deleting from the album that you used to export, use the command "delete version", not "delete from album". Do not delete the projects that the images came from, only the images.
Can you help me understand which images i am deleting? I mean, is there a way to delete just the images in the ALBUM because if i have to go in and delete the images from a Project there are going to be a lot more images in the Project and it is going to be very hard to tell which images have been renamed and which have not been renamed. If i have to do this by deleting the images in the Project, i suppose i could use one of your suggestions to color all the images in an ALBUM, say yellow, and then see where the images show up in Projects but even then i think it will be a bit tricky. Are you saying i can just delete the images in the ALBUM by doing "Delete Version"?
Use "File > import" to reimport your image files. I'd put all images that shall be imported into the same project into one folder, and then import each folder on its own.
OK. So - well - so now i am importing all of the images that i originally had in the Database and they are /basically/ (i moved the folder organization around a little bit while the images were on my desktop in this first attempt...) - they are basically getting IMPORTED into Aperture now with the "new" images coming into the database into a new Project that is named according to the Album that they were in?
This is a little tricky for me. Will the old Albums still exist? What if i had more than one Album with an image in it. Also, this "new" image will be in a /new/ Project but will it still be in the OLD PROJECT with the old name? Or, i guess i am getting a little confused as to how this will work.
Select the project in the Library Inspector, that you want to import the folder of images into, then set the "Destination" in   "Import settings > Aperture Library" brick to this project  and set "Store Files" to "In the Aperture Library".
OK. I can try this here soon. What does Store Files in the Aperture Library do? I guess these images are getting imported as if they are new and they are getting imported with no external references?
Set "Rename files" to "None" or "version name". Both will keep the name you edited.
OK. Not sure i totally understand but i can try this as well. I guess this is making sure Aperture will keep the original names.
    THANKS

  • Export background images in bulk

Does anyone have problems exporting background images in bulk?  After I capture a series of images and try to export them all at once to an external library, only the first few images export.  Additionally, their names are cut off in the new folder.  Any suggestions?

Since I cannot designate a file location for each background image (this is under the "type" column when you select the "update" feature in the library), I need to force that location to a drive on my computer.  Therefore, I need to export all the background images to the location on my computer than reimport those images into different projects.
I don't understand why Captivate does not allow background images created using the software simulation manual mode to be exported in bulk.  It is very time consuming to export than one at a time.

  • Image not showing because not associated with the application

I have an issue with the images in an application that I have imported to a test environment not displaying.
The pages refer to the images using #APP_IMAGES# and the images are showing in Shared Components->Images as "No Application Associated", which seems to be the issue, since when I change the setting manually on each image then the images appear.
However there are lots of images and when I reimport the images from the dev environment (via application express import) specifying the application to install into it sets them back to "No Application Associated" again. Note - the applciation id is different on the test env than on development.
This is not the case with another environment we have, also another funny in this test environment, whenever I try to reimport the image export file (without individually deleting each image first) I get the following oracle error irrespective of whether I try to specify the application to import into or whether I pick "workspace images" from the drop-down.
    ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-00001: unique constraint (FLOWS_020000.WWV_FLOW_IMAGE_REPO_IDX1) violated <pre>declare l_name varchar2(255); l_img_id number := null; begin l_name := '855_globe_watercolour.jpg'; l_img_id := wwv_flow_image_api.new_image_repository_record( p_name=&gt; l_name, p_varchar2_table=&gt; wwv_flow_image_api.g_varchar2_table, p_mimetype=&gt; 'image/jpeg', p_flow_
Do I have a duff environment here ? Is it because I'm importing into a different application id ? Is it a known issue with Application Express (v2.0.0.00.49) ?

I've gone back to the environment where the image import does work, this happens to have the same id as the original application. So its looking to me like if you import an image export file into an application id other that that which it was originally exported, it ignores the application you chose and pulls the images in as workspace images.
Furthermore it also looks like once an image import has been done into an application with one id (the original application id), then an import of the same image export file into a different application id gives a unique constraint error.
Are these bugs and have they been fixed ?

  • Framemaker to .pdf part of image missing

    Hello
I am using FM 10, Windows XP, Acrobat Pro X
I have converted a book and two images (from about 100) have the bottom 1/8th cut off.
The following may or may not be useful information:
    The image is a .png.
The image has callouts drawn in in Framemaker which print fine.
    I have replaced the drawing.
The drawing has been rotated 90 degrees.
The same problem occurs using FoxIt.
The same portion of the image is cut off if I move the image around.
    Any ideas?
EDIT: I've reimported the image and pdf'd it again and it prints fine.  The problem occurs when I rotate the image 90 degrees counterclockwise.
    Hmm
MORE EDIT: If I use the 'Rotate Counterclockwise' button, it crops a little bit each time it rotates.
    Hmm.

You put a lot of time in to this place, mate, Adobe should be paying you.
I'm just returning the favor. I've picked up several crucial tips here this year. Plus, you really discover if you know something when you try to teach it.
Our company designs lifting tools.  The design boys create them and I make a operation/test/assembly manual for them.
So are you working with wireframe hidden lines removed, or 3D solid renderings?
If wireframe, you would ideally want the image to remain vector all the way into the PDF, if the vector count is reasonable.
... png, jpeg, gif, bmp, tiff, emf, exif and wmf.
I don't know EXIF (except as a metadata format). Of the remainder, only WMF has a prayer of delivering vector, and I'm not sure how well Frame supports that mode.
No eps unfortunately.  Would you recommend using another format?
Autodesk can surely export DWG or DXF, but they are hazardous to your color catalog. Can Autodesk export vector PDF?
You will need to experiment with stroke weights, depending on your print path and any expected PDF viewing size. I'd suggest starting with 0.2 points (as delivered in the final PDF).
I find Illustrator really useful here. It can open DWGs, DXFs, and the EPSIs our older CAD software emits, and easily set stroke weights for final scale. It can also "simplify" complex drawings to some extent. When the PDF of a vector image gets over 250KB, we take steps (usually flattening it to 600 dpi raster). But we like to publish vector when we can.

  • Nikon V1 RAW images: strange "unknown image format" message

    Hello,
I run the latest version of Aperture on my MacBook under 10.7 Lion with a shared iPhoto library. I've purchased a Nikon V1 in late 2012 shooting in RAW (.NEF).
During the import, Aperture recognized and converted all images correctly. However, a few days later, a strange thing happened: Some of the images display a black  "unknown image format" frame (in German "unbekanntes Bildformat"). This is weird because other pictures from the same series and with the same camera settings are displayed correctly. What I did was to export the broken files and reimported them – everything was okay then.
Now, the same thing happened again in a different image series. This is what it looks like (first five images are shown correctly, I pixellated them manually before uploading):
I could surely export and reimport the images like I did before but I'm afraid that this problem might reappear again and again. By the way, I never had this problem with NEFs from my old Nikon D50.
    Thanks for your help
    Christian

My Camera RAW version is 4.0.3.
Yes, I am switching between iPhoto and Aperture. The shared library is locally under /Users/Shared where my wife (with iPhoto) and me (mainly with Aperture) access it from our own user accounts. All images are managed on the internal HD, not referenced.
When I just checked it from my wife's iPhoto account, the images were okay. Only Aperture showed the black frames and interestingly considered the images to be 900x600px.
I then had to idea to select "Vorschaubild aktualisieren" (presumably "update preview image") from the context menu in Aperture and, to my surprise, it worked Didn't expect that it was a problem with the preview image because the error message suggested something different.
I will additionally repair the library as LeonieDF suggested. Thanks to you and I hope that this won't happen too often.

  • "Unavailable Master Images Cannot be Relocated." error; Reconnect no help.

Seeking help with strange behavior in Aperture that elicited a shrug from the Genius Bar at the local Apple store. They suggested I post a question in this forum.
I'm using referenced files in Aperture. When trying to move some of them to a different location on the same drive, before I even get the dialog to select a location, I get the following message:
"Unavailable Master Images Cannot be Relocated. The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again.".
So, as instructed, I go through the steps to reconnect the images. At least I think I do since Aperture doesn't complain. I can also select "Show in Finder" and the image is found from within Aperture without incident. In other words, the image is "found". Also, the image is not tagged as "offline".
After all of this, I get the same error: "Unavailable Master Images Cannot be Relocated. The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again.".
So, I am a bit lost as to what to do since Aperture provides no further instructions other than to reconnect the images. I also get the same error when I try to consolidate the master into the Aperture DB.
I hope someone has encountered this situation or similar situation before and can provide a remedy. I want to avoid reimporting the images since I will lose all keywords, and adjustments. Painful.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Not sure if we're facing the same issue but here's what I did, avoiding the need to redo all the adjustments and add keywords again. Maybe your situation can be fixed in the same way?
I have all my masters stored outside Aperture Library in separate folders on my hard drive. I just don't trust having all the originals inside Aperture. Maybe it makes life more difficult, I don't know. Then I import the folder to an Aperture Project to work on the photos. Maybe 1 in 20 is a 5 star keeper.
I ran out of HD space on my MBP (Nikon D200 RAW files are 15 meg each) so I copied the folders on the HD to a backup HD and then deleted the original folders and their contents on the main HD.
Now I want to take the 5 star pictures and make a print or upload a photo. In Aperture the referenced file is still there but I can't export or make any adjustments because "the selected Master image is either offline or not found."
So I go to "File/Manage Referenced Files" and the File Path tells me what I have to create. It tells me the volume and path "[user]/Pictures/8-9-08 RS Shag Rock" for example, and it's in Red. So I create a new folder on the HD with that exact name. Then I go to the Back up HD, find the 8-9-08 RS Shag Rock folder, find the photo I want and drag it back into the new folder on the HD. The File Path turns black and we're back in business.
Next time after the BU, I'll leave the folders on the main HD and just delete the contents and save a step when I need to bring some back. Obviously if you have a lot of files to move, it would just be simpler to copy the whole BU HD folder, and delete the pics on the Main HD you don't need for now.\
    Hope that helps.

  • IPhoto 11 previews folder but images in masters folder gone

I hope someone can help because I'm stumped. I put photos in iphoto and then edit them and they go into the previews folder but for some reason they are being deleted from the masters folder so when I go to edit an image it says it can't be found. I know the photos are in the previews folder and I have to reimport the images but can't figure out why they are being deleted from the masters folder as I'm not deleting them in iphoto. Also I assume that if I delete a photo in iphoto it will delete also the previews, is that correct?
Somehow there are photos that I have not edited that have ended up in previews but are not in masters.
    Any thoughts would be helpful
    Thanks
    Derek

Try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager
    Note the Caveats:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Re-saving a report deteriorates image quality

Hi, when my colleague is saving his report in Report Builder 6i many times, the image on it (a company logo) keeps deteriotating. For example, the white part keeps getting a shade of gray after saving. Currently the temp solution is to reimport the image after everything else is ready and no further changes needed.
Is there a proper way to deal with images in Report 6i so the image quality stays? Many thanks.

If your colleage is using Oracle 11i ERP:
Instead of importing the logo to the report, store the logo as a Document with Data Type = File. You can get to the Documents form in several responsibilities. Once the document is saved to the server, you can add an SQL query to your Data Model to call it.
    SELECT flobs.file_data Logo
    FROM      fnd_lobs flobs,
         fnd_documents_vl fdoc
    WHERE fdoc.document_id = <your document id>
    AND fdoc.media_id = flobs.file_id
    AND upper(flobs.file_content_type) like '%IMAGE/%'
In the Layout Model, add a field with Source = Logo.
