Reinstall package including config files

Hi,
I'm trying to reinstall openssh so I can get fresh config files. I tried removing it with pacman -Rns but kde-agent depends on it.
I have also tried pacman -S to reinstall it but it doesn't refresh the config files.
Are there any alternative pacman arguments I am missing to do this?
Thanks,

Hi,bennylb0:
I am not clear about your so-called "config file",I mean,if you are talking about the config file in /home,then removing them will do,if in/usr,pacman -S will do,I suppose;if that doesn't work, you might remove your config files in /usr and run pacman -S then. That's all what I know.Hopefully my words will help you, please.:P

  • Include config files

    Sun one 6.1 SP2 , SunOS 8
Problem : We have around 5000 Meta redirects :( and all throwing http 302 and now we want all of them to throw http 301 for SEO.
Now as mentioned by this person :
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=759&threadID=5103148
    <Client uri="/">
    NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url="/content/common/index.jsp"
    Output fn="set-variable" code="302" error="301" noaction="true"
</Client> Query :1. I am thinking of putting all the meta redirects in a file and then include it in obj.conf is it possible ?
    2. Any suggestions to better manage these many redirects with 301 ? I am ready to upgrade to 7.x if needed.
    3. Can we write our own custom function like instead of "redirect" we will use that and it will read one conf file containing all the mappings of "From" and to URL and then response back with 301 and "TO" url ?
    Thanks

I still say that this 301 vs 302 SEO stuff is bunk. Goodle's spiders are more than happy to follow 302 (my access logs are full of evidence of this).

  • Reset config files for a package

According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … save_Files I have this situation in my config files:
    original = X, current = Y, new = X
Is there a way to set current config files of package to X and save Y as .pacsave OR install X as .pacnew and leave Y in place without removing package?
Last edited by Evgeniuz (2012-03-12 22:00:00)

I'm not positive I'm understanding you right, but if I am and you are talking about basically backing up a package's config file, it is pretty simple.  I believe the .pacnew and .pacsave refers to changes in the makeup of a package in general, not its config file.
To change back to the original config and save the modified version you can just add .backup or anything onto the end of the file that you don't want to use right now .  Then, you just need to save the file that you want to use as the config file with wthe filename of the configuration file for that package (so the same but w/o the .backup).
Sorry if I am misunderstanding you and you really did mean .pacnew or .pacsave and not config files.  Or if I am totally wrong but that is my understanding of config files and I know it has worked for me in multiple instances.

  • Do packages include all source directory files?

Simple question...I'm finding some of my images are getting too big. Do packages includes ALL files in the source directory? Is best practice to only include the exact file(s) being accessed by the package?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
All files in the source directory including subfolders are included, yes. I normally leave everything in there as it is hard to determine exactly which files are used during an installation. It could also be that installing an application on different
platforms use different files. so I would leave them in there.

  • Remove packages and all the config files associated with it

How can I remove a package and all the files folders hidden folders config files and examples which are installed with it.
In short how can I revert the system back to the state when the package was not even there.
When i remove a package i still see some folders which are associated with it in some weird directories.
Is there a way to get rid of those.
    Thanks

    From the pacman man page:
    Remove Options
    -c, --cascade
Remove all target packages, as well as all packages that depend on one or more target packages. This operation is recursive, and must be used with care since it can remove many potentially needed packages.
    -k, --keep
Removes the database entry only. Leaves all files in place.
    -n, --nosave
Instructs pacman to ignore file backup designations. Normally, when a file is removed from the system the database is checked to see if the file should be renamed with a ".pacsave" extension.
    -s, --recursive
Remove each target specified including all of their dependencies, provided that (A) they are not required by other packages; and (B) they were not explicitly installed by the user. This operation is recursive and analogous to a backwards --sync operation, and helps keep a clean system without orphans.
-n seems to be what you are looking for.

  • [SOLVED] Resetting config files from a package

    Suppose I modify a file called /etc/examplefile.conf from a package example-package.
What is the easiest / most elegant way to reset this file? Reset = restore the file to its original, removing my modifications.
This[1] topic discusses this, but it is two years old. I would say the "best" solution there was the one suggested in #7:
you could move the config file first then reinstall.
But I'm not sure if this is safe. For a dummy example, removing /etc/pacman.conf then reinstalling pacman wouldn't probably be a good idea (I suspect this wouldn't work).
OBS.: Getting the original file from the package from the cache is an obvious solution, but I'm searching for a simpler (more direct) way to do this (a bash/zsh one-liner would be sufficient, for example).

  • SQL Agent job step - SSIS package - adding a config file - will it override the one that the package specifies?

If I setup a job step to run a package and set the config file location on the "Configurations" tab, will that override the config file that the SSIS package is configured to use?  Or is this a "cumulative" type configuration option?
I typically have my config file mixed in with my project files, but that path wont exist on the server.

    Hi Shiftbit,
    ETL vs ELT is right.
In SSIS 2005, the DTExec utility loads and runs the package, events occur in the following order:
    The package file is loaded.
The configurations specified in the package at design time are applied in the order specified in the package (except for Parent Package Variables).
Any options specified from the command line are applied. Any configurations specified on the command line overwrite the current values; however, they do not trigger a reload of the configurations if a changed value impacts a configuration dependency. For
example, if the connection string used for SQL Server configurations is updated from the command line at run time, the package will still retain any other values from the design-time SQL Server configuration database.
Parent Package Variable Configurations are applied.
    The package is run.
In SSIS 2008 and higher, utility loads and runs the package, events occur in the following order:
The dtexec utility loads the package.
The utility applies the configurations that were specified in the package at design time and in the order that is specified in the package. (The one exception to this is the Parent Package Variables configurations. The utility applies these configurations
only once and later in the process.)
The utility then applies any options that you specified on the command line.
The utility then reloads the configurations that were specified in the package at design time and in the order specified in the package. (Again, the exception to this rule is the Parent Package Variables configurations). The utility uses any command-line
options that were specified to reload the configurations. Therefore, different values might be reloaded from a different location.
The utility applies the Parent Package Variable configurations.
    The utility runs the package.
So, we can see that no matter we use SSIS 2005 which applies the Configurations once or use SSIS 2008 (or higher) which applies the configurations twice, the configurations specified in the command line will affect and not be overwritten by the configurations
    specified at design-time.

  • Deploying 2005 package to server with manifest file, but deployment wont see my config file?

I have a package working and Ive installed it on one server, but cant seem to recall how I got it to see the config file Im using.  I tried using a manifest file but it simply wont pick up the config file when running through the wizard.  All Im
doing is copying over the manifest file to the server, remoting into the server, then running the package deployment wizard from there.  Why would the config file not be seen?

    Hi Shiftbit,
The issue occurs because you didn’t copy the XML Configurations file with the Manifest file and the packages to the new server. To install the manifest file in a new server, we must copy all of the following files:
    Manifest file
    .dtsx files of the packages
    XML Configurations files
If we only copy the manifest file, the deployment will succeed without the package configurations stage but no packages will be installed in reality. If we only copy the Manifest file and the .dtsx files of the packages, the deployment succeeds without the
package configurations stage, and the packages will be installed successfully actually. Only when we copy all of the three type files, the deployment can recognize the package configurations successfully and install the packages properly.

  • Single XML configuration file for all the SSIS packages(including parent and child packages)

    Hi
I have some 16 ssis packages. source Db and destination Db for these packages are common. I am calling these child packages in a master package.
I want to use only one XML config file for this master.
How do i use same for all child packages?
and can i do it with parent package variable?

I created a master package with a variable master, and in value i have entered the configuration file path.
    Hi vjp dinu,
You should create variables in the parent package to pass values to variables in each child package rather than pass the file path of the XML Configurations file of the parent package.
As Visakh mentioned, you can achieve your goal by creating corresponding variables in the parent package for each child package, and enable Package Configurations for the parent package so that you can control the values through the XML Configurations file
for the variables of the parent package.
Supposing there is a variable FilePath in child package 1, a variable ServerName in child package 2, then, we need to create two variables pFilePath, pServerName in the parent package. After configuring the Parent package variable in each child package (e.g.
mapping pFilePath to FilePath, pServerName to ServerName), you can enable XML Configurations for the parent package, and expose the value property for both pFilePath and pServerName variables. In this way, you can modify the XML Configurations file of the
parent package and the specified values will passed to the child packages.

  • Creation of one single config file for 100 packages

    Hello Everyone,
I need to create a single config file for multiple packages. Is it possible to do it?
Could you please let me know how can it be achieved?
    Regards,
    Chinni

    Its possible
Depending on whether all packages contain same configuration items and names you can use any of below approaches
    1. If all package configuration items and names are same, you can point all packages to same config file and it will use values from file for all of them
2.If packages have different set of conigurations, then one method is to use parent package (wrapper package) to call and execute all of them. Then define all configurations as variable values in parent and add a config file in it. Pass only required configurations
to each of child packages by using parent package configuration method.
    http://www.sqlis.com/sqlis/post/Using-Parent-Package-Variables-in-Package-Configurations.aspx
The parent package has to call child packages using execute package task
Then change any of values in your config file for parent package and change gets reflected to child package property values.

  • [solved] pacman command to compare package config files

Hi, Id like to know if there is a pacman command similar to this:
    pacman -Qii | awk '/^MODIFIED/ {print $2}'
from pacman tips, but where it just checks if the files are not identicle to the default config file of the package?
From what I can tell, this checks if a file was modified at all (I have copied a config file from a package to a modified package and the file still appears in the output, even though their contents is identicle.
    pacman -Qii | awk '/^MODIFIED/ {print $2}'

Unless I am misunderstanding you, pacman does that by default; when the upgrade is written to disc, the file in question becomes foo.pacnew which you can easily vimdiff or whatever against the original.
Yes, but I would like to print out a list of config files that are not identical
I basically want to see a list of all the config files installed that are not identical to thier original config file,
    pacman -Qii | awk '/^MODIFIED/ {print $2}'
still lists files which are identical because I think it uses modification times or something else

  • Deploy a package in SSIS DB catalog and pass Config file dynamically in a SQL job

    Hi,
I have a Package that needs to be deployed in SSIS Catalog DB.
Later I need to execute it through SQL Job.
Please let me know the steps how to do this and also I need to pass a Config file to run the package in SQL job.
    Thanks,.
    Sailaja

    Hi Sailaja,
Based on your description, you want to deploy a package to SSIS Catalog DB, then execute it through SQL Agent job with configuration file.
To deploy a package to SSIS Catalog DB, we can refer to the following suggestions:
SSMS-->Integration Service Catalogs-->SSISDB-->Your project-->projects. Right click on the projects, and choose "Import Packages...". Then make use of the Project Conversion Wizard to select the packages that you want to deploy, deploy
the generated .ispac file to SSIS Catalog. For more details, please see:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj852096.aspx
The command line tool DTUTIL.EXE which can be used to deploy SSIS packages. For more details, please see:
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertutorial/215/command-line-deployment-tool-for-ssis-packages/
To schedule the package by using SQL Agent job, we should select Integration Services Package for the job step type, then add configuration file or add some properties form configuration file in the Configuration tab. For more details, please see:
