Reinstalling OMS 11g using same Repository

We have Grid Control 11g 1 installed on a 32 bit Windows 2008 machine, this includes the Weblogic/Middleware/OMS and we have an 11.2 Repository on a separate server.
After 18 months of running without any issues, a few days ago we received an alert stating 'Backend WLBS or EM applicaiton seems to be down' , when we try to restart OMS using 'emctl start oms' we get an error:
Exception in thread "Main Thread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" HTTPClient/Protocol/NotSuppException
at oracle.sysman.emd.targetIntg.TargetInstaller.getMethod(TargetInstaller.java:553)
Is there any way to remove the the Middleware/OMS installation and re-install using the same repository?

It seems that some jar files are missing or corrupted.
For instructions on deinstalling an OMS, please see the following doc:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/deinstall_em_gui.htm#CHDGJFID
If the repository is important for you, take a backup before deinstalling the OMS.

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • Migrate OMS 11g to new server.

    Hi,
We want to take export of 11g Grid control repository and put it into a new 11g database.
And then install new 11g OMS pointing to this new database.
Will this configuration work smoothly ?
    Thanks,

If you're doing this to move hardware, adding the OMS and using the standby database is the best option that i see. you simply failover to the standby database, and remove the old oms out of the environment. If you're simply trying to create a test environment, i would recommend a new install with it's own targets/agents.
What I would recommend is go one of two routes:
    1. start clean with a new db and new install, apply all patches, create roles/jobs/users/templates, etc, then migrate the agents over. metric history will not be available, but the configuration will be clean.
    2. if you really want to duplicate the environment, you could do roughly the following however there are some downsides here:
    a. add new oms to existing env
    b. create a standby of the db
    c. stop em, break standby and activate the copy
    d. drop the new oms, update the configuration to point to the new repository, restart
    e. drop old targets/agents in the new oms
--> problems i see with the above: can cause communication issues w/ the existing agents, if you try to move the agents over to the new system, they will have conflicts because the targets basically exist already. they will be out of sync and all will have to be resynchronized or reinstalled - no telling which.

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

5th generation ipod not detected by my windows xp.  works fine on other pc.  performed necessary steps to remove and reinstall itunes but having same issue. is there a driver i can download to pc then direct to that specific location when installing?

I have a similar issue - my iPod nano connects and is visible in Device Manager yet invisible in My Computer and iTunes. I've tried everything I can possibly think of to try and solve this myself, all in vain.
Mine is a nano 4G. I've been using it for quite some time without the slightest problem. I have been using WINAMP instead of iTunes to manage my darling nano.
Then, one fine day I bought a new computer and the nano would not show up in My Computer, though the nano display shows "Do not disconnect". On my old computer it worked (and still works) absolutely fine with win XP as well as with win7 (the later I currently use on my new/problematic computer, which I bought last summer and that's how long I've had this problem).
Of course, after several first attempts I gave up and installed iTunes. I've tried using the Apple support article "iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows":
    - reset
    - fully charged,
    - cable works fine on two other computers
    - in normal or disk mode makes no difference
    - tried to find anything useful in the diagnostics mode
    - reinstalled iTunes several different times since then to the latest version
    - I've unplugged every other USB device except for my mouse and keyboard and tried several different USB ports on my motherboard (USB 3.0 and conventional), as well as trying different USB- related options in my BIOS.
    - I've never used any Mac with this ipod
    - I've tried fiddling with the win7 Services by stopping and restarting them and of course
    - uninstalling the iPod drivers in Device Manager. After such an uninstall the ipod would automatically be recognised and "ready for use", i.e. being invisible in My Computer.
    - Attempted to find any possible third-party conflict with msconfig or the possibility that my ipod is being confused for a network drive (for which I've disconnected my HDD, leaving only my SSD with the OS).
Sometimes, iTunes would note that iPod service (or something, can't remember exactly) failed to install properly and asked to try and repair it. I would click YES! and voila - no change! The ipod would rarely show up in iTunes on my problematic computer like this:
iTunes would warn me that the nano would need restoring so I would try and do it on my haunted machine upon which iTunes would freeze like you seen in the picture.
Despite this, I've updated and restored the nano on my father's computer to the latest version without any problems. This though, did not solve my problem in any way.
I can load music to my nano through my old computer (which for me is a real pain and hassle) and the gadget works normally in terms of its disconnected functionality.
I've taken my nano to the local service for repair and they said it was fine. Mercifully, they didn't charge for the diagnostics service (gee, thanks for not ripping me off!).
Here are two screengrabs from my Device Manager
and Devices and Printers screens on my comp:
That is my sad story as far as I can remember. It's most likely something with the drivers or something along those lines though I'm out of ideas at this point.
If you think you have any idea PLEASR HELP, I'M DESPERATE!

  • OIM 11g using too much memory and not releasing it when shutting down

    Hello,
we have a problem with OIM 11g using too much memory (about 5gb) and it's not releasing it at shutdown (4gb still used).
We are using a VM with RedHat Linux 5.6. Originally we had 4gb RAM + 2gb swap file. We installed Admin Server, OAM, OIM and SOA on that machine but quickly realised we couldn't run all 4 programs at once in 6gb. AdminServer could run with 2 other products, but it was a tight fit in memory.
So we increased the RAM to 8gb (still 2gb swap file). But then our problem occured : I start the Admin Server (2.7gb total memory used), then OAM (4.6gb total memory used) and then OIM. After it started the server is now using 9.6gb of memory (~300mb of free memory) ! The problem gets even better : after I shut down everything (OIM, OAM, admin server) the "top" command show that there is still 4gb of memory used even tho nothing else is running on the server ! There is absolutely no other process (other than root stuff) running and no other users connected to the machine. After a reboot, it shows 400mb of memory used. I tried restarting the programs and it did the same thing.
Our intuition is that there might be a memory leak or some bug in OIM that might use up almost all the free memory and it's not releasing it upon shutdown. It might have been there before we increased the memory but have not noticed it since memory was already tight.
Anyone encountered the same problem ? Any idea ? Any suggestion to narrow down the problem ?
    Thank you

You can adjust the memory settings for WLS by editing the setSOADomainEnv.sh file that can be found in your /middleware/user_projects/domains/<domain>/bin/ folder. There is an argument called PORT_MEM_ARGS which is used to set your Java memory arguments. This way you can decrease/increase the amount of memory used by each managed server.
I usually type "ps -ef | grep oracle" to see what processes are running by the oracle user. This way the output doesn't get cluttered with root processes.

  • My hard disk broke up and i had to reinstall LR on the same computer, do i have to pay again???

My hard disk broke up and i had to reinstall LR on the same computer, does LR will recognize i'm using the same computer or should i have to use one of my 3 codes i bought together with the product? In this last case i think it's not fair because it's not my fault the program has been deleted, but it was due to a faulty hard disk

Sorry but i can't explain properly my problem. When i bought my copy of LR, adobe gave me a serial number to use 3 times to install LR on 3 different computers. I installed it on my mac, on my pc and now, due to the faulty hard disk, i have to reinstall LR on my mac. When i ll input the serial number on my mac, will i use the third possibility to use my serial number or LR will recognize it was installed before on that computer and i will have the possibility to use the serial number for the third time on a third computer? Thank you very much for your patient!!!

  • Can I install two versions of SOA suite using same Oracle database

    Condition:
I installed Weblogic server(10.3.5) and SOA Suite(11.1.1.5), and
I used RCU 11.1.1.5 to create the schemas(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for it.
    Plan:
Now I plan to install another Weblogic server(10.3.6) and SOA Suite (11.1.1.6)
and I will used RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for it.
    Question:
Can I use same database(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for the two versions of SOA Suite? that is
Can I Run the RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for SOA Suite (11.1.1.6) on the oracle database server I already used for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5?
If I can use same database for the two versions of SOA Suite, how can I resolve schame name conflict?

    Hi
    1. YES. You can absolutely use SAME DB to have multiple Versions of SOA Schemas.
    2. Any SOA/BPM will need basically 4/5 schemas like SOAINFRA, MDS, ORABAM, ORASDPM etc. based on what you choose. And each of these Schemas can be Prefixed. Default prefix is like DEV, so schemas are like DEV_SOAINFRA, DEV_MDS etc
    3. Very Simple. When you Run RCU 11.6 and give the same old db details, in next screen it will automatically show the new Prefix for the schemas it will create. If DEV is used, it will show DEV1 like that. So just choose a Different Prefix and you are good to go.
I have the same thing on my side. Single Database. Multiple RCU for SOA 11.5 and SOA 11.6 with different Prefixes:
    SOA 11.5 -> DEV115_SOAINFRA, DEV115_MDS, DEV115_ORABAM etc
    SOA 11.6 -> DEV116_SOAINFRA, DEV116_MDS, DEV116_ORABAM etc
I Used the Prefixes like DEV115, DEV116 so that I know exactly which version of RCU schema they refer to.
For QC, UAT, PROD we used prefixes like QC_*, UAT_*, PROD_* etc.
NOTE: When you drop the schemas for some reason, make sure to give the appropriate prefixes so that only they are dropped and not others.
    Thanks

  • MDL export and import in the same repository

    All-
I am having a little trouble finding and understanding the exact rules of MDL exportings and importings?
    I have 1 repository.
IN this repository I have say, 3 projects.
I want to use and MDL export to selectively export 50 mappings from project 1.
I then want to to an MDL import and import those 50 mappings into project 2.
It says I cannot do this due to the same object already being in the repository.
Is there an option or way around this?
If I do a copy/paste, it only lets me copy and paste 1 mapping at a time, and I have to copy, close the current project, open the next project, and then paste the mapping! LOTS OF TIME!
Is it possibly to do what i want easier....I am thinking it can't happen within the same repository, but possibly if I had another repository.
    Thanks so much in advance!
    -J

    Hi,
There is a work around for this.
    1. First you export all the mappings into a mdl file.
    2. Rename the project name as <Source_Project>_Copy
    3. Rename the Destination project name where you want to import the mappings as the source project name <Source_Project>
    4. Commit the changes.
    5. Import the mdl file.
    6. Rename the Destination project which is renamed as <Source_Project> to <Dest_Project>
    7. Rename <Source_Project>Copy as <SourceProject>.
    8. Commit the changes.
    9. Check the objects.
Note: But make sure that, the structure inside the projects are same.
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Gowtham Sen.

  • 11g Read-Only repository on Linux

    Hi
Currrenty I am struggling with a Read-Only issues on a new install of OBIEE 11g. I have install OBIEE11g on a Linux box and also on a windows server just to use the Repository Administation tool. I then created an ODBC DSN on the windows server to point at repository on the Linux box. The DSN finds the correct repository however when I open the rpd online it always opens it in Read-Only mode so I can't change anything. I have checked the Disallow online RPD updates settings in Enterprise manager under-*> Capacity Management -> Perfromance* and this is correct. Any suggestions or help gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
Did you check or uncheck the 'Disallow online RPD updates'-setting?
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10541/querycaching.htm
When you checked the setting it seems that it is intended behaviour.

  • Problems in Installing Oracle 10g,11g on same server

    All,
I install oracle 10.2.0 on RHEL 4.7 and running successfully,
How i can Install more database 10.2.0 at same server, and what i have to changed in .bash_profile
what change i have to do for installing Oracle 11g on same server.
    Thanks

I am not being strict in my answer as it would might confuse.
Providing you did not use Oracle Express Edition ...
dbca should be able to create and sort out another database 10g for you.
    Be careful not to run out of resources {eg use too much main memory}
You can switch between oracle databases in the same oracle home (which is what you will have) by 'export ORACLE_SID=SID2' where SID ... providing your bash_profile sets up the environment required for your first oracle database.
When putting new oracle home installations {eg an 11g installation} on a machine where there is an existing oracle home my rough rule of thumb is to unset variable that relate to existing oracle homes before dpoing install (possible exception of ORACLE_BASE).
    eg:
    oracle$ env
    ORACLE_SID=SID2
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/prouct/10.2.0
    ORA_NLS10=...
    oracle$ unset ORACLE_SID
    oracle$ unset ORACLE_HOME
oracle$ /stage/whatever/runInstallerI think the argument is begining to go against seting ORACLE_HOME and other home specific stuff etc in the .bash_profile.

  • OMS 11g failing in "Agent Configuration" phase - securing agent

I'm installing OMS 11g on an Oracle Linux 5 (x64) server and it's failing on the agent configuration step. When I look in the logs I found that it was failing on securing the agent and that there were ssl errors and timeouts.
Has anybody else had this problem?

If you have 10.3.3 installed it will fail on the "OMS Configuration step". I am also failing on the "Agent Configuration" step. You don't happen to know what ports need to be open for securing an agent do you?
    EDIT:
Seems like there might be some answers here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/firewalls.htm#BABIGHDH
I am not very smart about firewalls/network diagrams but it looks like the agent will need 3782 for incoming secure communications, and 1159 for outgoing secure communications if you used the default ports

  • Database Table and LDAP Authentication in the same repository?

I'm wondering if it's possible to authenticate through database tables for some users and LDAP for other users. I can configure each one separately but I'm curious if anyone has ever successfully done both in the same repository.
    Thanks,
    -Matt

Another thing to try is this. I don't have an LDAP server here but it worked for me without LDAP. I think it should also work with LDAP as it is the same idea. I don't think there is a way to have a conditional Init Blocks. Also you can't have two init blocks setting the same variable (USER in our case). But what you can do is to have two Init Blocks, one for LDAP authentication and the other one for table authentication. So you could have this scenario:
    1) LDAP "authentication" init block sets custom variable LDAP_USER
    2) Table "authentication" init block sets custom variable TABLE_USER
    3) Final authentication init block (the real one) sets USER variable using something like this:
SELECT CASE WHEN ':USER' = 'SOME STRING' THEN ':LDAP_USER'
    ELSE ':TABLE_USER'
    END
    FROM DUAL
WHERE CASE WHEN ':USER' = 'SOME STRING' THEN ':LDAP_USER'
    ELSE ':TABLE_USER'
    END = ':USER'
Note how I use the CASE statement both to return the user value I want the USER variable to be set and also in the WHERE clause to make sure no rows are returned in case authentication fails (which should return no rows to denote a failed authentication). Obviously you need to set the init block dependancies correctly. I did a quick test with users coming from two separate Oracle tables in 2 init biocks and it worked fine for me. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

  • RE: Using Shadow Repository

    Hello Celso,
To answer your question - only one person can be using a Forte' Workspace
at any given time. You cannot share Workspaces.
Shadow repositories are independant of Workspace usage. Shadow repositories
are essentially a local cache, designed to reduce the network traffic
between the development client and server, and to reduce the load on the
    repository server.
In general you should always use a shadow repository.
I hope that this helps you.
    Best regards,
    Richard Kirk
    Digital Equipment Corp.

    Celso,
We use the shadow repository to speed up response while developing.
There is a Forte Tech Note 10677 that covers shadow repositories and
    their uses.
We constantly work as a team 3 to 4 people on one Forte project. Each
user creates their own workspace containing the Forte Project(s). We
then coordinate who will work on what class and perform frequent
integrations to the Central Repository to allow the other users to
    obtain the new changes.
If two users need the same class one can make a branch while the other
has the class checked out. We try to insure when branching we are
creating new methods on the class. In this way when the class is checked
in, the user who has the branch performs and update. The user receives a
warning that there is a discrepancy and Forte updates the class and
changes the branch class to an acorn class with a similar name.
The user then checks out the updated class and moves the methods from
acorn to the checked out class. The acorn class can then be deleted and
the second user can now integrate his/her changes to the central
    repository.
IF changes are made to the same methods then you must do the above and
then cut and paste from the acorn class to the updated class.
As you can see from the above we try to avoid working in the same class
as much as possible. The other use for a branch would be to try a change
on a checked out class and then remove the branch putting the class back
to the way it was before it was branched. If the change worked and was
minor we would ask the other user to put it in or allow us access to
their workspace for us to add the code.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Mike Pocalyko

    Subject: Using Shadow Repository
    Forte Users,
Here I am again! New questions for you...
This time I intend to work with a group ( me and another
programmer ) in the same project. But we`ve never done that, and we're
facing some problems with shadow repository. Is that the best way to work
? And how it's done? We need to be able to work on the same Workspace at
the same time. Does Shadow Repos handle that? What do we need? Which one
makes his own shadow, or one of us should work with a shadow and the other
one directly with the central repos?
If there is any detail I forgot here, please tell me. Also, Im
sorry if all the answers are on the manual, I've read it, but true
    experience is better, isnt it?
    Thanks for your help,
    Celso M. Motta
