Related to JScroll Panel

can i add panel with null layout inside the JScroll Pane
example
JPanel jp = JPanel();
jp.setLayout(null);
jp.setBounds(new Rectangle(0,0,500,500));
JScrollPane jp = new JScrollPane(jp);
this is part of my code, it is compiling and executing but
the Scrolling of the pane is not happening when i go to the
corner of the panel.
can any one help me?

Hmmm...
I'd change the background color of the JPanel to see how big it realy is. Maybe JScrollPane uses the getPreferredSize() of the JPanel. If it has no components in it, the getPreferredSize() would return something really small, so that the JScrollPane won't need to scroll.
Try to print out the dimensions of the JPanel after it's added to the JScrollPane.
Why do you use null layout anyway?

Nick.

  • [SOLVED] XFCE4.10 main panel and freeze problem

    Hello everyone.
I just have upgraded to XFCE4.10 and after rebooting (as the update included also a new kernel) the main panel is double its size just like the icons. I would have included a screenshot but here is where my second problem appears.
Whenever I try to open a window the system just freezes.
The strange thing is that when I try random things (checking 'Appearance' to see if my Oxygen theme wasn't working anymore with 4.10 or fixing the missing 'Separator' issue for correct window display - former freezed though after clicking on 'Accept') it works but the 'real' things (opening browser - both from applications menu or xfce shortcut panel - or Thunar) do not.
I also noted that when trying to save the 'Separator' fix when I hit the actions button to close the session I was directly just given that option instead of displaying the full menu of restart etc.
Should I consider this a new issue or something I have to setup in 4.10 in comparison to 4.8 where it work perfectly?
I am considering a kernel downgrade to see if it fixes the freeze issue though I doubt, if it does, it would relate to the panel size issue (or that 'only close session' allowance that I have just referred to). The reason for not having tried the downgrade yet is that the system apparently works fine as long as I do not open any window "for real", as said.
    Any suggestions?

%$$& Wrote everything nicely down and got logged out xD
Let's see how much I remember.
First of all, right now writing from my downgraded 3.3.3-1 kernel. I didn't succeed doing the downgrade while the 3.3.4-1 was loaded thus I had to do it using the change root method. That way I also discovered the, apparent, reason for the user modules fail at startup and the freezing at the login screen I reported in #3. Somehow the system was using the 3.3.3-1 kernel (I do not know when it installed successfully) but the 3.3.4-1 headers. Most likely I made a mistake somewhere during my previous change root attempt when fixing a *new* unable to find root device that popped up then.
As said, I have been able to downgrade using the Arch Install CD and through the change root method but received the warning,
    directory permissions differ on usr/src/linux-3.3.3-1-ARCH/
    filesystem: 700 package: 755
after the install/downgrade of each package (linux-docs, linux-headers and linux). Should I consider this a new problem? System works fine so far thus I am not sure about this.
Prior to successfully downgrading I tried to install the LTS kernel but wasn't successful with the 3.3.4-1 kernel loaded. Just like with the downgrade I tried using the change root method and could install it.
But despite updating grub's menu.lst accordingly I was receiving an 'unable to find root device message' which could not be fixed through the change root method just like with the 3.3.4-1 kernel (in case of the LTS one changing the final step from mkinitcpio -p linux to mkinitcpio -p linux-lts as far as I understand it). I might give it another try installing it in this working environment later on and report back with the results.
    @ConnorBehan
As I have just stated the user modules fail message and the login screen freeze were surely my fault but the error messages I referred to from the beginning with the 3.3.4-1 kernel were like these,

    @foutrelis
You may be right with regard to the drive as it is a quite old laptop I am running Arch on. Now that you refer to the drive could the freeze/errors I reported to ConnorBehan be related to the tweaking of the vm.vfs_cache_pressure value I did?
I am just taking a wild guess myself comparing my ide drive to your ssd one. I had never had this kind of problem prior to 3.3.4-1. Just as if this kernel could not handle my tweak anymore (value is 50 and worked fine so far).

When installing the new iTunes software, the message : "the older version of apple software update cannot be removed." What should I do? I tried deleting files related through control panel or the manual way, but it doesn't work. Am I missing something?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • How can I make CS6 panels "sticky"?

This is probably a very basic question.  In the previous versions of Photoshop I've used (CS3, CS5), when I opened multiple panels (e.g. History, Info, etc) they would all stay open for reference.  However with CS6 I've noticed that if I have, say, the History panel open, and also open, say, Info, then the History panel closes.
How can I change this behavior such that each panel I open will stay open and visible until I direct it otherwise?  It's frustrating to have to keep using Window->History (or whatever) each time I need to see one or the other.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Te only thing you need to do is that , just click on the arrows that says "Expand Panels". By looking at your query it seems that currently you have the panels collapsed.
If the panels are collapsed they wont remain open, but they gets hidden and then you have to click on the icons related to each panel.
To overcome this, just Expand Panels and then every panel that you may open will behave as you needed.
Please find the arrow in the image below :
    Hope it helps !!
    Thanks,

  • IE9 problem linking to a specific tab

I have been happy with my website for almost a year now after asking a few questions relating to Tabbed panels and having my problems solved here.
But I've realised there is a problem that didin't exist before!
I have a Horizontal menu bar at the top of some of my pages and there are links that go to different pages with a tabbed panel with a specific tab opened.
However, when I click on these links, the pages open with the specific tabs opened, BUT the Horizontal menu bar which should be at the top disappears.
The banners at the top left corner disappears too and the whole tab panel is displayed at the top.(so the Tabbed panels are kind of pushing the content at the top out of the screen)  When I check the html in Dreamweaver, in Live view, and try to use the link in the menu bar, it shows the same, the Tabbed panel at the top of the page with the specific tab opened.  But it shows that it can be scrolled up and when I do, it shows the banners and the Horizontal menu bar.
This hasn't been happening before when I've made the website last year.  I'm thinking that it's something to do with IE9 because I was using IE8 when I've made the website and Safari seems to work the same as before.  Does anyone know what I could do?
    My website is http://minussun.co.uk/home.html
If you could try jumping to "The Concept", "Her Record" or "Her Life" in the About menu or "Her" or "Stockists" in the Contact menu at the top (basically, the links which are aiming at specific tabs) you will see what I'm writing about...

  • Drag and drop icons from onside of the split pane to the other side.

    Hello All,
I am tring to write a program where i can drag and drop icons from the left side of the split pane to the right side. I have to draw a network on the right side of the split pane from the icons provided on the left side. Putting the icons on the labels donot work as i would like to drag multiple icons from the left side and drop them on the right side. CAn anyone please help me with this.
    Thanks in advance

The other option besides the drag_n_drop support
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/dnd/intro.htmlis to make up something on your own. You could use a glasspane (see JRootPane api for overview) as mentioned in the tutorial.
Here's another variation using an OverlayLayout. One advantage of this approach is that you can localize the overlay component and avoid some work.

There are multiple, technically seven, black shadows appearing on the bottom my lcd like black headlights glowing outwards from the bottom. Sometimes it disappears but now it has appeared agian. I'll be thankful for any suggestion.

    Hi Mehran94,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Display on your ThinkPad T400.
We have verified the image and the issue is related to LCD panel, but I suggest you to check with reseating the LCD cable on both the side which is connected to the LCD panel and also to the system board.
Please click here to visit the link on how to remove the system hardware parts.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to get MenuBar's size?

I need to set the position of components on a page that contains a MenuBar, but MenuBar does not provide a getPreferred size method.
How can I get the MenuBar's size?
    Thanks.

You shouldn't need to. If you put all the components inside a Panel, then you can set their positions relative to the Panel, instead of relative to the whole frame.
Otherwise, maybe the Insets you get from getInsets will include the menu bar size..?

  • How to make movable tab ?

    Hi,
I have some question with Tab.
I want to make any tab that it can be moved .
like Eclipse editor tab, Net beans editor tab..
I try to make tab selection on mouse drag, but It works only change to selected tab index.
I think that movable tab implements need to reset each other tab. (addTab() method, relation of Tab Panel with Tabbed Pane.)
setTabDisplayIndex, setTabSort i need .. Do you have a solution for this problem ?

    Hi
Are you referring to the tabs in a JTabbedPane? If so, you might first remove the tab and then insert it at the desired index.
    add(component, index)
    add(component, constraints, index)
    insertTab(title,icon,component,tip,index)
    Hope this helps

  • Flash or Flex?

so i am traditionally a Flash designer / developer... i know, i know that strikes fear into programmers all over!  you are probably thinking, i nest code everywhere and always have and there is no hope.  definitely not the case.
i have always been an interface / experience first then comes the business logic second, make it all mess third.  i recently move from AS2 to AS3 development and like what AS3 has to offer and after a few short months and can imagine going back to the old style code!
    so to the point....
i decided i love the Flex IDE with code hinting organization and all of the "programmer" perks that come along with that environment.  writing class files is a breeze and much more intuitive.  everything in the product is database driven... i also love the Flex components because it appears to do some work for me with binding, resize of content, keeping assets nice and neat.  i am comfortable continuing to develop in Flash if need be, but is it time to move to Flex in everyones opinion?
here is a sample of the product we have created:
    http://www.mapyourshow.com/shows/index.cfm?show_id=NPE09
flash is really just a glorified library of sorts with all language content, configurations, etc are DB driven so that we can make it as flexible as possible.  the bis downer is that it is written in AS2 logic and i have to do alot of clean-up for search list, the drawing of data, resizing content and relative positioning, video, panel nav, on and on!  i also used tween classes, so i don't even use the timeline anymore.  i think that Flex might fit in well here.
    my BIGGEST concerns:
    -  Flex seems "heavy and clunky", so performance wise it just doesn't seem as fluid and Flash displays do.
    -  most flex app look the same even those built with flex 3, i cannot find and good sample that have a great presentation to them
any suggestions for good samples of Flex and Design (as in a unique presentation and nice interface)?  should i move on to develop this application in Flex?
    thanks,
    aj

I can recommend you to visit Juan Sanchez web site I believe it's
scalenine.com you can find great customization there. Also defgrafa
allows you to do great stuff visually.

Any help?  I've tried using a registry cleaner, and the command regsvr32 ExplorerFrame.dll didn't work.  I don't recall installing anything, and everything else seems to be fine.
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've tried System Restore, didn't work.
