Related to Vector [Plz help me!!!]

Hi all
Let's say I have 2 vectors, named v1, v2, each contaning 4 elements of unknown type.
If I want to compare v1[2] to v2[2], what should I do?
You can assume that there are only some primary data type such as: int, long, float, double, string.

You've got a couple of issues here.
First, comparing 2 objects, even if they contain the same data, doesn't mean they are equal.
Second, a vector will not hold primitive types.
You can always do something like this:
1) create an object:
public class MyObject()
public static final STRING = "String";
public static final INT = "Int";
<etc...>
String type = "String";
String s;
int i;
float f;
<etc> ...
< getters and setters here>
public boolean isEquals(MyObject object2)
if(type.equals(STRING)
if( this.s.equals(object2.getS())
return true;
else
return false;
else if <etc...>
2) Now you can add your "MyObjects" into the vectors & compare them when needed.
The other way to do it is to use the objects: String, Integer, Float, etc.
Then you can find out which object it is by:
if(obj instanceof Float)
compare values here (do not compare the objects!)
