@RELATIVE() equivalent function in Financial Reporting Studio?

All,
Is there an FR equivalent function to the @RELATIVE() function in Essbase?
Specifically, I'm trying to select Level 0 descendants of a particular member.
e.g. @RELATIVE(MEMBER,0) would be the equivalent function in Essbase.
I've tried to use the RelativeMember function, but that does not appear to do the same thing.
I also tried to union two selections, but that just returns an MDX error.
e.g. assume I want to return child 2 and 3
Dimension
Parent A
Child 1
Parent B
Child 2
Child 3
Lev0,Dimension NOT Descendant Parent A (this is not the actual syntax, but an explanation of what I tried). This returns an MDX error to do with "NOT".
Any help is appreciated...

That was extremely helpful. I was able to get it working with the following syntax
Descendants of <Member> AND System-defined member list Lev0,<Dimension>
Thanks again for your help.

  • ActBudVar$ function in Financial Reporting Studio

    I have an existing report set up this way:
    ACCOUNT dimension(vertical):
    * Children of Income
    * Interest Income
    * Income Expenses
    PERIOD dimension (horizontal):
    * Current Period
    * Current Period offset by -1
    * Current Period offset by -2
    YEAR dimension (horizontal):
    * Current Year
    SCENARIO dimension (horizontal):
    * Actual
    * Budget
    * ActBudVar$
    In my case, all the amounts of Actual are less than the amounts of Budget throughout the entire report. My question is, for Children of Income, the ActBudVar$ is calculated based on subtracting Budget from Actual (Actual - Budget = ActBudVar$). Therefore, ActBudVar$ shows negative as of result (for ex, Actual = $0, Budget = $100, ActBudVar$ shows -100). However, when it comes to Income Expenses, same financial model (Actual - Budget = ActBudVar$) is applied, yet the ActBudVar$ shows positve in its result (for ex, Actual = $0, Budget = $100, ActBudVar$ shows 100).
    I was wondering if ActBudVar$ has a built-in detection system for determining which scenario should be subtracting which for income and expense accounts so it's not listening to my command.
    Please advise and thanks in advance.

    1) Conditional Formatting in the Report - There is no condition formatting used.
    2) Found the following UDA's in the Income members of ACCOUNT - Average, Flow, No Rate, and Revenue.
    3) ActBudVar$ is, in fact, a member part of Scenario and it is embedded with a formula "@VAR ("Actual", "Budget")".
    4) Found the following UDA's in the Expense member of ACCOUNT - Average, Expense, Flow, and No Rate.
    So as we have Actual - Budget, the Variance shows negative in the Income ACCOUNT and that makes sense.
    However, for the Expense ACCOUNT, we have Actual - Budget and variance still shows positive.
    Based on the info above, as well as the link Celvin provided,
    "For example, for an Income, Flow, Asset, or Balance account, a positive result represents an increase, so the result appears as a positive number. For Expense or Liability accounts, a positive result represents a decrease, so the result appears as a negative number."
    my guess is we are only supposed to tag positive accounts - in this case, Income ACCOUNT, with Average, Flow, No Rate, and Revenue; and negative accounts - in this case, Expense ACCOUNT, with Average, Expense, and No Rate only, remove "Flow" and the variance will show negative instead.
    Is this correct?

  • Help creating a report with Financial Reporting Studio.

    Hi,
    Im new at Financial Reporting Studio so my question might be something very easy, for beginners.
    Im trying to create a report with two columns where in each column there is the year dimension. In the first column there is the current POV for year, but in the second column I would like to set the prevoius year of the POV automatically, without using a prompt. Is there any function or way to do it?
    Tanks foy yuour help!
    Edu

    Use the relative function.
    The first column will be set to use the User POV.
    For the second column... see the tab named "Functions". Select the function "RelativeMember". For the Member row - select User POV. For the offset enter -1... that will automatically select the prior year.

  • Error message when logging into financial reporting studio 11.1.1.3

    I receive the following error message when I attempt to login in to financial reporting studio 11.1.1.3:
    "You are not authorized to use this functionality. Please contact your administrator."
    I'm attempting to login with the default "admin" user that appears to have been automatically provisioned with all user rights.
    I see the following error message in FRClient.log (on the client):
    09-14 13:48:40 ERROR ConfigResourceBundle     Could not find fr_configcache.properties file
    The server components (foundation, fr server, essbase) are on a linux machine and fr studio (along with the common foundation files) are installed on a windows machine.
    The fr_configcache.properties file does not exist on the client but it does on the server.

    I tried copying the file fr_configcache.properties to c:\hyperion\products\biplus\lib and this got rid of the error message that shows up in FRClient.log but I still receive the same authorization error message in the GUI.

  • Does Financial Reporting Studio need to be uninstalled before patching?

    Hi Guys,
    Moving forward on my patch plan, I am stuck again, this time with the ambiguity in the documentation. I am trying to apply the Financial Reporting Patch 13997553. While going through the documentation, I found two ambiguous statements. In step2, the doc says that I need to uninstall the FR studio (Doesnt say on which machine I need to uninstall). Later in step9, it says, on FR studio Machines, uninstall the FR studio.
    As per my assumption, in step2, I have to uninstall it from the Server and in Step9 I need to unistall it from my local machine. But the document never talked about re-installing the FR studio on server. What am I missing here?
    Help appreciated. Thanks!
    Here's part of readme which confused me -
    APPLYING THE PATCH_
    The section includes important information about applying this patch for Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition.
    To apply this patch:
    1. Shut down all services and servlet instances related to the Oracle Hyperion EPM Release 11.1.2.2.00 installation.

    3. On On the Financial Reporting server machines; Download and unzip the downloaded patch file, <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip, to the <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch directory (by default, Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/OPatch).
    NOTE: <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip is the name that My Oracle Support assigns to this patch. When you download the file, a message indicates the file name.
    4. On On the Financial Reporting server machines, from a command line, change the directory to <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch.
    5. To apply the patch, enter the following command on one line:
    Windows:
    opatch.bat apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>
    -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29
    NOTE: The default for <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1. The default for <MIDDLEWARE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware.
    UNIX/Linux:
    ./opatch apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29 -invPtrLoc <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/oraInst.loc

    “For WebSphere deployments, you must use EPM System Configurator to redeploy the Web application.”
    9. On the Financial Reporting Studio machines; Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
    10. Connect to the EPM Workspace machine that was patched in Step 3. Download the Financial Reporting Studio installer from the EPM Workspace menu: From the Tools menu, select Install and then select Financial Reporting Studio and then launch the installer. Follow the installation guide to install the Financial Reporting Studio to the location you want.
    11. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.

    You will find that it is installed by going to the start menu - Oracle - Financial Reporting StudioSo if i got you right,
    -I need to uninstall the FR studio from all the machines (including the server).
    -Apply the Patch.
    -Install FR studio back again
    And this whole process has nothing to do with Financial Reporting Web App.

  • Financial Reporting Studio Client Installation Error

    Hi,
    today i tried to install Financial Reporting Studio on my own computer to access the data stored on a server landscape. After successfull installation, when I try to login I receive the following error message: You are not Authorized to use this Functionality. Please contact Administrator
    Nevertheless, I am the admin so I need to contact myself. I tried a lot of things today and read a lot of threads, still no solution. I can run the Reporting Studio from any of my servers and use the URL http://webserver:19000 It works when run from any of the servers. But when I try it from the "outside" I always get the error above. I can access all other Hyperion Components from my computer, hence the environment is configured right to that extend.
    Do you have any suggestions on this error?
    Thank you very much,
    Best Regards
    Philipp
    I run: Windows Vista
    FinRep Studio: 11.1.0.2507

    I have the same issue with 11.1.1.3 and Windows 7 which we recently installed..  Initially, Financial Reporting would not launch but after we did the steps mentioned below, we the studio opens and we can access our Repository.  However, we get a 'Failed to connect to Server...' for each of our HFM and Essbase reports.  Any ideas?
    Thx,
    Mike
    We followed the below steps
    manually copy the following folders and files from a working 32-bit Windows machine:
    <HYPERION>\common\JRE  (This is needed for Studio startup.)
    <HYPERION>\common\ADM\9.5.0.0\Essbase  (This is needed for data source connections.)
    <HYPERION>\products\biplus\lib\fr_client.properties  (This defines the FR Client Logging settings.)
    <HYPERION>\products\biplus\lib\fr_global.properties  (This is needed to define the default
    RMI port (FR Studio will try to use 1099 otherwise) and the location of the fr_client.properties file (or else the FRClient.log file doesn't get created).)
    Note that if the Java Runtime (<HYPERION>\common\JRE ) was missing after initial installation, it will be necessary to manually execute <HYPERION>\products\biplus\install\bin\HrRunAnt.cmd.  This is a Windows batch file used to perform post-install configuration steps; it depends on the presence of the java Runtime.

  • Month, QTD, YTD in prompts - Financial Reporting Studio

    Hi All,
    We developed a report (source: Essbase) using Financial Reporting Studio. We used a prompt for Period Dimension and used all the months in the choices list. We have a new requirement to pull QTD and YTD of the months to the prompt list.
    We have used QTD and YTD from the functions list but while running the report from workspace, it is showing in the user selection list as Month instead of QTD of month or YTD of month (QTD of Feb/YTD of Feb).
    Please suggest if someone worked on the similar case.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi

    We have created a Y2D member for our Time Period dimension that may fit your needs:
    IF (@ISACCTYPE(FIRST)) JAN; ELSEIF (@ISACCTYPE(LAST)) &CurrMth; ELSE @SUM(JAN:&CurrMth); ENDIF
    We also have a Q2D member: IF (@ISACCTYPE(FIRST)) &Qtr_St_Mth; ELSEIF (@ISACCTYPE(LAST)) &CurrMth; ELSE @SUM(&Qtr_St_Mth:&CurrMth); ENDIF

  • Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio - usage log and exporting criteria

    Hello, is there a way to run a usage log for the reports that we have in Financial Reporting Studio?
    In addition, can I export the report criterias? I'm looking at potentially archiving some reports we have out on the server that is not currently being used. Thanks much!!!

    The FRReportSrv log file under Hyperion\logs\BIPlus gives you the report usage tracking. I am not the developer of our process and I am not techie at all, but we have a process that scans the log files, parses the log files and load it into Oracle. Then thru Oracle Apex, we develop reports to track FR usage.
    I am not sure what you mean by report criterias. Do you mean, for example, if the report is not used for over 5 months, you would like to archive it? If you can create a similar report like the one I described above, then yes, it would help you to determine the idle reports, but I am not sure if you can automatically archive the reports. I think it would have to be manual, where you would use the export function on Workspace to archive your report.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Mehmet

  • To display Last Date of the Month in Financial Reporting studio 9

    Hi
    I want to display last date of the month in header in Financial Reporting studio 9 . Is there any function which displays the last date of the month as per user selection .
    for example
    If user select month of Jan it should display Jan 31st, 2009
    If user select month of Feb it should display Feb 28th 2009
    Thanks

    Unless you name your Months like that you cannot do it. A large team from a major consulting firm told me for a year that it was not possible and convinced management that financial statements don't need dates.
    Management decided that we do need dates (because all financials need dates, look at any text book). I figured out a pretty sweet solution that is simple and easy to use and maintain. The users love it. Management loves it.
    I'm not giving it away though.

  • Financial reporting studio compatibility

    Hi,
    We have two Hyperion projects( 1st team uses 11.1.1.3 and 2nd team uses 11.1.2.1) in the company . Now Financial reporting developer wants to create reports for both the projects using same FR studio. Please advice how to connect to Essbase 11.1.2.1 using Financial reporting studio 11.1.1.3 or vice versa.
    We keep on getting following error :
    "You are not authorized to use this functionality. Contact your administrator."
    We also tried logging in as "admin" but still the same error.
    Thanks

    Hi
    Normally I would say backward compatability woui ldbe more likely to work, i.e. connecting to 11.1.1.3 Essbase from the 11.1.2.1 FR but according to the supported platforms document that I have seen for v11.1.2.x the 11.1.2.1 FR release is only compatible with v9.3.3 and not 11.1.1.3.
    Seems strange that it would work with 9.3.3 and not 11.1.1.3 but that is what it states.
    Hope this helps
    Stuart

  • Financial Reporting Studio is not visible in Start Menu in EPM 11.1.2.2

    Hi
    i have installed EPM 11.1.2.2.0, i tried to login to Financial reporting studio and found that it was not installed. Then i manually installed Financial Reporting studio (V31859-01\FinancialReportingStudio\FinancialReportingStudio.exe). I did not receive any error, but i am not able to view Financial Reporting Studio listed in start menu. Where is Financial Reporting studio? how do i login?
    Thanks,
    Veeru

    The client and server have to be exactly the same version, it sometimes worth downloading FR studio from workspace to make sure you have the same version.
    Otherwise log into Oracle support and search for "you are not authorized to use this functionality", you will see lots of results which should help you resolve the problem.
    Cheers

  • EPM 11 Financial Reporting Studio & Rounding

    Greetings:
    Hope someone out there can help me with EPM 11 Financial Reporting Studio. I have a report setup and for one particular number I do not want it to apply any rounding but I do want it to display to 2 decimal places. The number is a subtraction of two other columns and those columns are displayed at 2 decimal places. Even though I do not have a rounding formula in any cell it is applying rounding. How do I prevent this from happening?
    For example:
    The field I don't want rounding has a value of .8149831 and I want it to display .81 however it is displaying .82. Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated or any explanation of why its doing this would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hi,
    In the format cells, did you use the "decimal places" option with the value 4,or 5... in addition of using the truncate functions "=TRUNC([A,3],2)" to have 0.81
