Remediation Workflow in Captivate 7

I'm trying to incorporate remediation in my quizzing using Adobe Captivate 7.  I've watched this tutorial, Remediation in Quizzing -AdobeCaptivate 6 - YouTube , as well as read through other posts and I haven't found my answer even though I think others have had similar issues.  I have 24 content slides and then 5 question slides that follow.  When I preview my entire project the first time, and I get to a slide that is eventually a remediation slide, I am not able to use the 'Next' button to advance to the next slide.  During the quiz, remediation works appropriately and takes me to my content slide.  I'm also able to hit 'Next' and return to the quiz question.
I have the 'Quiz Properties' - 'Actions' set as follows:
On Success: Continue
Attempts: 1
Failure Levels: None
Last Attempt: Jump to slide
Slide: Slide 5
I have the 'Next' button 'Actions' set as follows:
On Success: Return to Quiz
Attempts: Infinite
Allow Mouse Click
Shortcut: Enter
Is this an issue with my settings or is there another issue or concern I'm not thinking of?  Please help.  Thank you!

OK, cannot log in to the forums (already problems whole day). But I see
that the shapes are not in the timeline during the active portion of the
click box! How do you want them to become visible?
And please, the bug patch to 7.0.1.237 was released in October last year,
install it ASAP.

In Captivate 7, the smart shapes I attached to a click button, will
not display in html5 or the web display. They show up fine in the timeline.

  • Remediation Workflow - 2 Total Attempts per Question Scenario

I'm trying to accomplish the following with all of my quiz slides - I want the user to have only 2 attempts to answer the question correctly before 'failing' the question and having to move to the next one. This is the expected outcome:
User answers question #1 incorrectly. They receive a failure message saying the answer is not correct and they will be returned to review the content before being given a second chance to answer the question. They are returned to the designated slide to review content and then returned to question #1 to try one more time. If user answers correctly, they receive a success message and move to next question. If they answer incorrectly again the Incorrect popup should appear saying you did not answer correctly, question is marked wrong and they advance to the question #2.
So far, I've had no luck with making this happen as remediation exists out of the box - I assume because the 'Action' at the failure level is specific to the Last Attempt, so even if I say I want the user to have two tries it is only performing the 'jump to slide' action after the second attempt.
Based on the following settings, below is the outcome I am experiencing:
User answers question #1 incorrectly. They immediatly get to try to answer again. If incorrect second time it goes back to review content then when it comes back to the question user is allowed two tries to answer correctly before they are returned to review the content lide again - it's basically putting them into an infinite loop from the question to 'Jump to slide' and back to the question until they get the question correct. Even if I set the 'Attempt' value to 1 under the Quiz Properties Action it still loops over and over until the question is answered correctly. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Also, I assume remediation does not work when using 'Partially Correct' as an option, since then a question with multiple answers where only one is selected by the user would technically not be 'incorrect' and it just moves forward to the next slide. Thoughts?

Thanks for your reply!!  We have a mix of questions, many are multiple choice with more than one answer, but some are sequence or multiple choice with one correct answer. No matter how I change any of the question types, remediation puts me into a loop until I answer the question correctly. Even if I change Action to 1 attempt and 1 failure level with the Last Attempt Action set to Jump to Slide, once I return to quiz I have to answer correctly before I can move forward. (See below).
What do you mean when you say 'Advanced Answer' action? Is that what I have done below by putting Jump to Slide in Last Attempt, or is there something I'm missing about how to apply the remediation workflow to slides?

  • Remedy Workflow integration

    Using IDM 7.1 and Remedy 5.6 (& 7).
We have been able to configure a resource for Remedy and the test connection works fine. But we want to manage Remedy workflows (tasks / templates / CTI etc) and not user accounts on Remedy.
But I have not been able to find any documentation for Remedy and much less for the Remedy workflow integration. The Resources reference is very sparse.
Has anybody successfully integrated IDM with Remedy Workflows? Can you please provide some pointers.
    Thank you.

    Hi Jose,
I've done this recently in our project.
You need NOT to have a Lotus - SAP connector for this if you are in version ECC6.
Try to access tcode SWNCONFIG. This will not require you to have any middleware or some sort. This is just plainly a CONFIGURATION task in the said tcode.
Just search a documentation on SWNCONFIG Extended Notifications.

  • Enhanced workflow creation in Captivate 7

What is the process for creating a workflow in Captivate 7? Thank you for your help.

    Thank you Lilybiri wrote:
Work flow is not an object or a panel that is added to Captivate, it is just telling you that there are improvements in work flows and usability, compared with previous versions. Captivate 7 offers for the first time the possiblity to create shared actions, to copy/paste advanced actions, objects keep the actions attached to them when copying etc... It has a brandnew swatches palette that makes branding easier, there are new system variables that were asked for since a while, etc
I talked a bit about some of those improvements:

  • ADA 508 Compliance Workflow Overview (tab key for navigation / WebAim Toolbar)

    Hi,
I've been assigned to update interactive training for a State agency..... with of course, an emphasis on ADA / 508 compliance.
So, before I pinpoint my two questions/scenarios, here is a basic, initial attempt at providing an overview of ADA compliance workflow in Captivate and beyond.
PS - useful Captivate forum urls are at the end of this post. I'm using Captivate v.6
    ADA Compliance Workflow Overview:
    1. All assets need an alt tag and conceivably a description > highlight the asset, like a pic, and click the Accessibility button under Properties.
    2. Create slide notes for each slide > load slide, highlight no assets and click the Accessibility tab under Properties. Copy and paste your notes > for screen readers.
    3. Need closed captioning for video/audio content > I use Camtasia for CC and will use the JW player for screen reader of video content.
    4. Interactivity needs to be accessible via the tab and enter keys.
    What else am I missing?
    Question 1
My question targets how to get the enter key to initiate after a successful tab. To be clearer.... I hit tab and I can navigate through all the buttons in the correct order, but hitting enter provides no action. I am gettining the yellow highlights around buttons when I tab through. Everything works very well when using the mouse, but blind users don't use mice.
I did create my own animation buttons in Flash and imported them in as animations. I then placed a Click Box behind the button animation to engage the rollover action. Could this be causing problems? The prebuilt (and clunky looking) buttons on the quizzes do work (ie) tabbing to them and hitting enter provides effective navigation.
I'm opting not to use the playback control skin, only my Flash nav bar.
    Question 2 (Scenario 2)
I have downloaded the WebAim Toolbar feature designed for FireFox, used to check ADA compliance issues.
I am getting this error message:
A frame does not have a title attribute or value. Okay... I bet I can fix this via the .html file or via the standard.js file??
    and these warnings:
Alert: Javascript in head - A javascript element is present in the page head section.
Alert: Flash - A Flash object is present.
Does anyone know if these alerts are worth fixing?
Obviously Captivate is going to pump out, or rather publish... javascript elements, but is this bad in the page head section?
And..... of course a Flash object is present...Captivate produces Flash / Shockwave files.
I'll obviously ask the programmers at WebAim for guidance as well. As always any help would be appreciated and Tanks in advance.

    Hi,
Attached is my zipped project file. I did create my own buttons in Flash - this might be the problem. I have only been problem solving with navigation on the first four slides.
To clarify, hitting the Enter key does engage navigation, however I’m having difficulty controlling the navigation so that it goes to the correct location.
I’m using Captivate v.6 / publishing SCORM 1.2 / Using IE to deliver via the SyberWorks LMS.
    Here is question 1:

  • Can no longer preview background audio accurately, efficiently in Captivate 7

I'm currently using Captivate 7.0.1.237 on a Mac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
As far as I know, Captivate has never allowed for Background audio previews to work anywhere but in (Preview > Project) and (Preview > web [or] HTML5). Those aren't ideal, but I used to have no problem fast-forwarding the preview to see what adjustments needed to be made to sync background audio voiceovers to slide content. (FYI - I can't record to each slide because I'm combining recordings with static slides. Tried, failed.)
Since upgrading to Yosemite, I have been unable to scrub (rewind/fast forward) in any of the preview modes without losing the synchronization of the voiceover audio I have in the background. Previewing in web browsers doesn't even work at all any more. {Error: This webpage is not available.} The video will rewind/fast forward, but the audio doesn't recognize the timestamp.
So, this means that now the only method I have for timing audio to video is previewing the entire project (Preview > Project). I am working on developing a set of 15 different videos (eventually MP4 output, so no interactions), each of which is between 3-8 minutes in length. Each project is between 25-60 slides. Say I create content on the last slide (which might be 5-10 objects per slide,) I have to preview the entire 8-minute video without pausing, rewinding, or fast-forwarding - every. single. time. I add. or change. some content.
This problem has led to me working 10+ hours in a day attempting to sync audio to animations for just one project. This is totally unacceptable.
PLEASE HELP!!! I've searched high and low through the documentation, FAQs, and message boards and I'm coming up empty.

Thanks for considering the problem! Unfortunately, as I stated above, the voiceover needs to be a background audio file that plays throughout the project. It's not possible to record audio-per-slide because of the structure of the video - and because I do a lot of editing of the audio files for 8-minute videos.
FYI - I was able to have a chat conversation with a support tech. Here is the transcript of that chat:
Anvinder: We have not tested the workflow of captivate 7 with yosemite so far.
Anvinder: You might find some inconsistencies.
AMANDA: So, is there no solution to this error?
AMANDA: Do I need to publish the entire project every single time I make a small change?
AMANDA: Has Captivate 8 shown this error in Yosemite?
Anvinder: In order to make the changes evident in the output  you need to publish the whole output.
Anvinder: Amanda, the best practice is to publish the whole project. We are in testing phase for the same. You can download the trial version of captivate 8 and work on it on yosemite.

  • Error when trying to open Mac file with Captivate 6 Win

I've tried opening Captivate 6 files (.cptx/.cptl) that were created on the Mac version with Captivate 6 on Win7. Got the error message "can't open file" telling me to check the file and my resources. Resources are ok, the file was sent via email.
How can I set up a workflow for Captivate 6 between Mac and PC users that works? The discussion to Win files crashing Captivate Mac didn't help as there's no solution posted. Are there any issues concerning the compatibility of Mac and Win files within Captivate 6?

  • Insert Equation in Adobe Captivate

Please tell me how to insert a equation in adobe captive, I usually do this by copy it it Equation in Word but when i paste it in adobe captive it is a picture. Tell me how to add animation in equation. Help me.

    Hello,
Animation is possible for text, but that means that you are limited to the text editor in CP, and there is no real formula editor. The only 'not normal' characters you can add, are those under the Symbol button, but if you do not find the right symbols there I do not know how to help. You can switch to another font. How did you write the equation in Word? I think you can replicate the same workflow in Captivate? Lilybiri

  • Captivate 7: Need help to diagnose background audio which increases suddenly mid-video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hQ1GJpVQNU
I inserted a music file into the video background.  At 1:39 you'll hear the background music suddenly jump up in volume.
When I imported the audio file to the background, I edited it by adjusting the volume.  The volume was reduced appropriately in the preview, however, as you can hear, it jumps significantly.  There is nothing I can see either in the audio file - or in the other elements that may cause this.
I've tried deleting and re-importing and changing the volume using the  threshhold/ ratio settings (versus just the volume bar), but nothing changes that jump.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Differences and Similarities between MIC and PC3.0

    Hello Friends,
Can anyone please provide me information about the following:
    1. Is PC3.0 next version of MIC?
    2. Can MIC be upgraded to PC3.0?
    3. If yes, how the data is migrated from MIC to PC3.0?
    4. What are the master data objects in MIC exactly match with that of PC3.0?
    5. What is the functionality of MIC that matched with PC3.0?
    6. What are major diffrences and similarities in MIC and PC3.0?
    Appreciate your help here!
    Regards, Ben

    Dear Ben,
let me try to answer your questions:
    1. Is PC3.0 next version of MIC?
MIC is a predecessor product for PC 3.0. With the aquisition of Virsa there was a new product introduced with the name "Process Control".
    2. Can MIC be upgraded to PC3.0?
+There is a migration path for MIC 1.0 and MIC 2.0 to PC 3.0.
    3. If yes, how the data is migrated from MIC to PC3.0?
You can find documentation for this in the service marketplace. There is a migration guide for MIC to PC 3.0. In The BPX there are also guides produced by the GRC RIG team.
    4. What are the master data objects in MIC exactly match with that of PC3.0?
    5. What is the functionality of MIC that matched with PC3.0?
MIC was mainly build to support SOX compliance. PC 3.0 not only supports SOX compliance but theoretically as many compliance initiatives as you want. Both share a central organizational structure, a central contol catalogue, issue and remediation workflows for evaluations.
    6. What are major diffrences and similarities in MIC and PC3.0?
PC 3.0 comes with a multi compliance framework, supports automated control tests, has much stronger reporting capabilities and export to excel. PC 3.0 has surveys and test plans and integration wit Risk Management 3.0.

  • Captivate 7 remediation

    Hi,
I am using Captivate 7 and have created a training project that has 5 sections of slides
with 4 questions after each section. (Only want 1 quiz results page)
I have set the quiz to "jump to slide" after failed attempts for remediation.
The next button is configured to "return to quiz"
The first section "next" buttons work because not in "quizmode" yet, but following section
jumps to quiz question when navigating slides...I hope I explained this right.
Anyone have any ideas of how to make this work or other ideas to get around?

    Thanks for your response....
The users will have to answer question successfully to move forward...they will have infinite attempts to answer so no retake is necessary.
The 1 section content slides have been viewed and questions have been answered successfully with proper remediation to content slide when answered wrong. (infinite loop
    until right answer is provided)
The first slide of the 2 section when clicking next button jumps forward to first quiz question in the 2 section instead of going to next slide.
How can the next buttons action be programmed to go to next slide while set to "return to quiz" and already in quiz scope?    (my head hurts)

  • Captivate 7 - Some Users Not Getting 100% of Answers Correct with Question Remediation

We are using Captivate 7 content to deliver courses via Adobe Connect 9.1.  We are experiencing an interesting issue with question remediation. When a user takes the quiz question and gets the answer wrong, the user is taken back to spot in the course where he/she can review the information.  Once the user is done reviewing the information, he/she is taken back to the question to answer it correctly.  The learner has infinite attempts to get the answer correct.  In theory, the user should always get 100% for the final test score.  We are noticing that some users (10%) actually don’t get 100% of the answers correct according to Adobe Connect transcript reports.
Is there something we can look at to see what might be causing the incorrect score?  Is there a known issue?
We publish Captivate 7 content as SWF/HTML 5 on Adobe Connect 9.1.

Unfortunately, the discussion here led me to the resolution, but is not terribly valuable from a Captivate standpoint.  It turns out that we have a custom database script running on the Adobe Connect back end to correct people who have been left in an "In Progress" state even though they have a passing score and appear to have completed the course.  To avoid the script changing these records to pass, we bumped the passing score to 100%.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hey Louai,
You can use the same method in SP 2013 however there is a better way you can follow
    - Create a custom list "Tasks dashboard"
    - Log by workflow actions all your workflow insights
    - Create reporting service report to read all required information from this list in Pie chart or any other report format.
