Remote Desktop through portal

Anyone implemented remote desktop through ALUI portal yet?
Anyone know if there are any issues that I should take in considerations?
Lilach

Hello,
Inside WLP the state information for portlets is stored at a per-desktop level, so since you have two desktops the only way I can think of to communicate between them would be to put information in the session (HttpSession). Then when you need to communicate that information to any remote portlets on a producer, just use custom data transfer (the SimpleStateHolder you mentioned is part of that) to carry the data to the producer.

    Hi,
Not sure of what you want.
Have a look at v$session view. Machine column is maybe what you're looking for.
If you want to retrieve the local host executing remote desktop, it's actually not possible natievely, since it's still remote host that is connecting to the database.
    Hope it helps.

  • Unable to access Standalone VM via Remote Desktop through a VPN

Good Morning everyone, now here is my problem.
My company is a small software development house and we test our software on Win 7 or 8 VM's running on standalone (ie not on the domain) VM's. We are running the VM's on WS2012 R2 Hyper V and when we are inside the building we are able to Remote Desktop
onto these VM's direct without any problem. The problem comes when we want to RD onto the VM's when working from home via the VPN. When we try to connect to the VM's via RD through the VPN the Remote Desktop Connection fails with the following alert "Remote
Desktop can't find the computer '[Computers Name]'. This might mean that '[Computers Name]' does not belong to the specified network. Verify the computer name and domain that you are trying to connect to." The only way I can connect to the VM's is
by going onto the host server and access the VM's via Hyper V manager and use it that way.
Now when I try to connect to a VM that is running on the Domain via the VPN I connect without any problems at all.
So my question is why can I connect to standalone VM's via RD without any problems when in the office but when I am at home via VPN I can't but I can connect to VM's on the domain without any problems? What do I need to do to make this work?
    Phil

    Hi Darren,
I have just tested it and when at work I can ping by name a named server and the standalone VM without any problems.
But when I connect from the outside via the VPN I am still able to ping by name a named server but not the stand alone server. Nor can I ping the IP address of the standalone VM although I can connect to a standalone VM using its IP address via RDC

  • Can iPads and Smartphones Access Remote Desktop Through "Access Anywhere" RDWeb?

Is Remote Desktop Gateway required to log into a Windows 7 workstation remotely or can you connect from a mobile device using only the "Acess Anywhere" features built into Essentials Sever 2012 R2 using the Microsoft Remote Desktop App in downloaded
    from the app store?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yeah we can access RD Web by using MRD for MAC, IOS and Android. Just we need to install the application on respective device and can access by Remote Resource. Please follow TechNet article where you can find the details.

  • "Remote Printing through Portal"

I am working for a client who needs to send print jobs throug Portal from a remote place. Is it possible throug Portal. If so how to make this to work.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Arnab,
from a forms point of view:
(I assume you have the ADS up and running on the Java stack. Without it, the form generation doesn't work.)
If you create your form in transaction SFP and execute the corresponding program that calls the form for testing in SE38, you get to the print dialogue. Here you may choose either locl or lp01 (or any other printer accessible through your network) and then select Print Preview. This should then display the PDF in SAP GUI.
If you are asking about general printer setup within SAP, check the corresponding documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/d9/4a8eb751ea11d189570000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

  • Publish Remote desktop through Microsoft VDI on Windows server std 2012

    Hi
I have followed the steps, which you have mentioned in the below link. http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/partnerwinserver2012/thread/235594d6-a42d-4345-8a77-05481d8bc8bd#451ec885-bbff-4bf7-addb-983f22683c82
We have deployed 3 servers and tried to start the pooled managed desktop, it is showing an error in final stage. The error is " the integration components in the virtual desktop
template are not the correct version”. We have installed integration service setup and completed sysprep steps in windows 7 pro SP1 machine also.
Please let us know the furthers.
    Edward Antony.D | Quadrasystems.net India Pvt Ltd

    Hi A
This means unless you updated the integration services on your Windows 2012 or Windows 7 VMs (and Windows Server 2008 R2), they will be running an older version of the Integration Services. Machine\Auto\IntegrationServicesVersion for the IC version,
or from the host by using this command:
To update the easiest way, extract the content from C:\Windows\System32\vmguest.iso from the Hyper-V host to a folder, then launch the setup.exe from the relevant support\<architecture> folder on each VM. For example:
    \\server\ISCUpdate\amd64\setup.exe /quiet /norestart
Note that this will require a reboot of the VM at some point, but the /norestart suppresses.
Let me know if this helps you
    Cheers

  • Remote Desktop Connection won't connect to ip address through my airport extreme?

I can't seem to get my RDC to connect through my airport extreme. I know it must be a setting on my airport extreme, but can't figure it out.
When I hardwire the ethernet cable from the modem to the computer it connects fine, and when I set up a hot spot through my iphone, it also works fine every time as well.
I've made sure to add "Windows Remote Desktop" through the port setting in Network settings on the Airport. Can someone please help me??
    Many thanks in advance...

Hello Jedid4n. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Do you have the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) configured as the remote base station in a WDS with the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) configured as the main base station? In order for the AX's Ethernet port to be enabled, the AX would have to be set up as either a remote or relay in a WDS.

    Please :
1)this is not related to SAP( business critical issue for me)
2)I know I should not place this in this forum. But no other go for me.
When Ever I have logged in to a remote desktop(through Citrix metaframe) ,there If
I press any key then the system itself treating it as "windows"+"Key that I have given".(for ex. If I have given key(this may be in a notepad or may be in a password field) like " l ".then I am simply logging out).
Because of this I am unable to enter into any system.(I need to login to SAP through that system only But I am unable).
Note:1)this problem is not with in our network
2)only when I have connected to my client network
3)I have tried with 2-3 desktops but no result(I mean problem is not with the system hardware)
4)I have tried with options like on the remote computer and full screen mode only(every thing I have checked but no use)
5)Last I have asked every known but no use.
I will be more tankful if any one of you can help me out.

    Seems simple now....
Just open On screen keyboard (By accessories->accessibility)and press windows key and then you will get the same problem(If at all you have closed the on screen keyboard also you can get the problem).to fix this press windows key again(in On-screen keyboard)(If at all this is not working for once then press for 3-4 times)...now you will not get the problem.

  • Remote desktop VM in Azure through VPN

I register my azure subscription in App Controller 2012 and I can now see the VM in Azure inside the portal.
I recently established a VPN connection from my side to Azure, with RRAS and everything is working properly (can ping machine from each
    side and the other).
In the App Controller interface, with the button Remote Desktop I can connect to the VM in Azure through the other gateway (Virtual Public
    IP) with correct endpoints configuration.
My question is: Is it possible to get the Remote Desktop button working as it would for VM in VMM register in App Controller, by avoiding
the Virtual Public IP and Endpoints and using directly the REAL ip?
    Thanks,

Within App Controller the RDP connection uses the public IP of the virtual machine. There is not a configuration option to use an alternative IP.

    Richard

  • HP Laserjet 1020 not working through remote desktop

I have a hp laserjet 1020 that I am vpn and remote desktop to a computer at work. I am suupose to be able to print from remote desktop to my local printer (the hp laserjet 1020) using the microsoft terminal Easy Print. The printer is showing up in the printer list, but when I try to print I get an error of Printer not ready.  The printer is working fine on the local machine, just not through the remote desktop. I have install the printer drivers on the machine that I am remoting into , just to make sure. Is there anything else I can try. I am not finding any firewalls on either end blocking it?

After many months of frustration and 7 1/2 hours with Microsoft advanced prof support I've finally pinned down this printer and a slew of others.  This problem as far as I have come across deals exclusively with HP printers.  In simple terms:  the drivers are flawed.  This 1022 is a prime example.  It prints locally and via TCP/IP just fine. I have about 7 other printers and dummy printers in my printer folder.  Enter a remote desktop session and ALL of them populate except the 1022.  This shows that the hooks and RDT finders are locating your printers and installing them properly as remote printers.  All except the 1022.
Log out of your RDT session: goto the local 1022 setup and change the printer driver to a PCL driver.  I used a 1200 PCL driver.  Now log back into your RDT server and hockus pocus! there is your printer.  Totally un-usable because the driver will not run this printer.  Caveat:  each time I did this XP crashed (I couldn't get to the properties TAB anymore -- I had to un-install the 1022 and then re-install it with at least 1 reboot in the process)
Moving on we go to the HP OfficeJet/LajerJet2840.  Same thing.  It won't pass through as remote printer in RDT.  Go local.  Set the printer driver to AppleLaserWriter8500 and boom. (same logout, change, back in steps) and your LJ2840 shows up and works.
While I will have to wait until tomorrow I am betting that this will fix the exact same problem with the HP Officejet 8500A all in one with the exact same problem.
Hey HP?  Whats with the drivers??
Another work around if you have a static enough environment is to install your local printer that will not show up under RDT on the server, and then point the port to your fixed IP on your router, and passthru port 9100 to your locally installed printer that is failing.  You can now be on RDT and chooses the network printer that is printing to the TCP address of your home (or office) router.

  • Connecting to Remote Desktop Published Apps through RD Web Access not working

    Hello,
I have configured an RD Gateway server. My scenario is like I have a windows 2012R2 server with all RD components (Gateway, web access, connection broker, session host) configured, since this is for a poc. Externally I can access rd web access portal (https://<servername.domain.com>/rdweb)
and can connect to the target server using "Connect to a remote pc" tab without any issue.
But I can't connect to any published app from "Remote App and Desktop". The error I recieve is "unable to connect to remote pc. please provide the fully-qualified name......."
At the same time I can see below errors in event logs related to connection broker:
    Error 802:
RD Connection Broker failed to process the connection request for user domain\Administrator.
    Error: Element not found.
    Event 1306:
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user domain\Administrator.
    Error: NULL
    Error 1296:
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed while getting redirection packet from Connection Broker.
    User : domain\Administrator
    Error: Element not found.
Googling I could see some posts related to these issues, mentioning about to check the network connectivity between RDCB and the target server. I can defenitely say it is fine and already mentioned I can connect to the same server using "connect to
    remote pc" tab.
Just FYI, I have this server as Amazon EC2 instance and the domain is configured as Amazon directory service. Can someone please help me at the earliest.. This is pretty urgent as my tasks are pending due to this issue..

    Hi,
I have seen similar issues with Essential role installed, if it’s installed on the terminal server, please remove it.
Please also ensure involved machines are fully patched and keep port 443 of the TS server open.
When external users connect to the Web Access page, are they able to see remote apps? If not, please check whether user assignment setting is configured correctly for remote apps.
Are users able to open remote apps from internal network?

  • Remote Desktop 2012 R2 - Can't get RD Gateway with RD Web Access working through just 443

I have one server (2012 r2 fully updated) running all remote desktop roles (RD Web Access, RD Gateway, RD Licensing, RD Connection Broker, RD Session Host) and a separate domain controller.
I have RD Web Access published to cloud.mydomain.co.uk and accessing cloud.mydomain.co.uk/RDWeb works fine.
I want to setup the environment so only port 443 is open from the outside (thus the RD Gateway is installed) and the user can login through RDWeb and click on an app to launch it.
If I leave port 3389 open along with 443 and log on to RDWeb and click the remote app, this works fine.
If I close 3389 on the external firewall and only leave open 443, I can connect AND login to RDWeb but I cannot open the connection
    This is expected:
    http://i.imgur.com/9j2HRqm.png
    Error:
    http://i.imgur.com/2LH2c7T.png
Digging in the event viewer yielded: http://i.imgur.com/M9uHm0o.png
Which led me to test change the following setting in the resource access policy, as a test:
    http://i.imgur.com/FlGObFr.png
This still didn't work but yielded a different error in event viewer:
    http://i.imgur.com/LkaCfU4.png
Now I suspect I have misconfigured something somewhere in terms of the last event where it suggests it can't connect to resource "cloud.mydomain.co.uk" I would have expected this to be the internal FQDN of my session host. Or, I am hitting some sort
of odd problem because I have all the roles on the same box.
Any assistance greatly appreciated. I'm keen to find the root cause behind this as I need to document this solution so don't want to invalidate by messing around too much with settings.

    Hi Gavin,
If you use RD Gateway then you only need to open TCP port 443 and UDP port 3391 and forward them to your RD Gateway server.  You may have RD Web Access (uses TCP port 443) and RDG running on the same server.
When an external client launches a RemoteApp they will connect to your RD Gateway via TCP port 443 and UDP port 3391, then the RDG will connect to your internal RDSH servers using TCP port 3389 and UDP port 3389 on behalf of the external client.  In
this way the RDG will act as a middleman between your external users and your internal RDSH servers.
In Server Manager - Remote Desktop Services - Overview - Tasks - Deployment Properties you need to specify the external FQDN of your RD Gateway server.  If you have RDWeb and RDG on the same server this would be the same FQDN that your users will use
for RDWeb.  For example, if your users use https://rds1.yourdomain.com/rdweb to connect to your RD Web Access site, then you would enter rds1.yourdomain.com for the RD Gateway name in deployment properties.
(Above one Quoted from this thread answered by TP).
In addition please see that you have properly configured RD Rap & RD Rap policy under RD Gateway manager and also properly configured certificates to match server name.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services Group Policy for Domain Controllers

    Hello,
We want to allow our Helpdesk Operators to be able to connect to Domain Controllers with the Remote Desktop Services. This is by default not allowed but according to many sites, it should be able to configure by using a Group Policy.
We made a new Group Policy with the setting 'Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services' and 'Allow log on locally' (as an extra for testing) and applied Security Filtering to only use it for a specific Security Group. Our test user is a member of this
security group and should be able to access the Domain Controllers now. However this isn't working.
The error message we receive upon trying to connect:
The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login.
For troubleshooting, we also applied the Security Group for that setting in the Default Domain Controllers Policy but that doesn't seem to work either. We want to avoid customization on our Default Domain Controllers Policy but this was just a test case
    for solving our problem.
What should we do to solve our problem?
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I just found out what the problem was. This site helped me alot:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2011/09/09/allow-logon-through-terminal-services-group-policy-and-remote-desktop-users-group.aspx
In my case, I had the group added to the Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Services but was not added to the Builtin\Remote Desktop Users group. After knowing this I made some changes to our situation and are now using the builtin\Remote Desktop Users group
rather than a new self made Security Group. I also added the Remote Desktop Users to the Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Service in the Default Domain Controllers Policy as this is not done by default. By default only the Domain Administrators are able
to logon through remote desktop services.
You do not need the 'Log on Locally' permission within the Group Policies.
    In short:
Add the desired users/groups to the 'Builtin\Remote Desktop Users' security group.
Add the 'Builtin\Remote Desktop Users' security group to the 'Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Services' within the 'Default Domain Controllers Policy'.
Thank you anyway for the fast reply.
    Have a nice day!

    Hi,
Are they able to print from other applications while connected via Remote Desktop to the same server?
Are you using RD Easy Print driver for your redirected printers?  If yes it may be that this specific application is incompatible with the RD Easy Print printer driver for some reason.  One possible workaround may be to Disable Use RD Easy
Print printer driver first group policy setting and then install a matching printer driver on the server for each client printer.
