Remote Login Using SM51 Fails

Hi All,
We had a cluster, 4 physical servers / 14 SAP Instances / HP-UX - Oracle 10G / 46C -> Upgrading to ECC 6 EHP 3.
Basically we have a general RFC problem in the system. You can reproduce it simply in transaction sm51: In most of the instances whenever you try to change to an instance that has the same instance number than the one you are logged on at this moment, you will come back to this instance, e.g.:
you are logged on at host1_SID_01, start sm51 and try to change to the instances:
host2_SID_01,
host3_SID_01 or
host4_SID_01
(or you try to display the system log or other). You will see (System - Status) that you don't change to these instances but will stay on host1_SID_01.
We found the SAP Note 662895 - Remote login using SM51 Fails.  In this note they refer to the error:  "Transaction termination 14 025".
We look at the SM21 it reports the following error: *Transaction termination 00 152 ( ) *
I would appreciate some tips about this problem.

Hi Martin,
Thanks a lot for your reply.

  • Remote login in SM51 Fails / ECC 6.0 / HP-UX / Oracle 10

    Hi All,

    We found the SAP Note 662895 - Remote login using SM51 Fails. In this note they refer to the error: "Transaction termination 14 025".
    Now we have this error (we upgraded from SAP 46C with another error in sm21).
    The problem is that we really donu2019t understand exactly what they want to do in the SAP Note 662895:
    Summary
    Symptom
    Remote login in SM51 by double-clicking R/3 instances fails
    Solution
    You can use transaction SM51 to log in to another application server using RFC, without entering a password. Server "A"
    Server "A"                                          Server "B"
            <--Remote logon via RFC   <--
    GUI
          sm51
    Double-click on the server B entry --->
    If host name "B" was entered on server "A" as the gw/alternative_hostnames profile parameter, the local SAP gateway from server "A" is used when you log on to server "B". This results in the syslog message "Transaction termination 14 025".
    The same error occurs if you try to open a new external mode on server "A".
    Who is the origin server? Host A? Host B? In fact sometimes you can go from A to B and vice versa. So changing the gw/alternative_hostnames parameter doesn't appear to be a solution.
    I would appreciate some tips about this Note / Problem.

    Hello, thanks a lot for your replyes.
    Abhijeet Siras, the command /etc/ping <host> works prefectly.
    Sergo,
    Exactly we have 3 host each one with 4 dialog instances. 1 host with 2 dialog instances and one host with the central instance.
    Not all  instances have this problem, only the following combination:
         Origin                     Destination
    host4_SID_01    - >     host1_SID_01
    host2_SID_03    - >      host3_SID_03
    host1_SID_01    -->  host3_SID_01
    host1_SID_02   -->     host3_SID_02
    host1_SID_03   -->     host3_SID_03
    host1_SID_04   -->     host3_SID_04
    host2_SID_01   -->     host3_SID_01
    host2_SID_02  -->     host3_SID_02
    host2_SID_03  -->     host3_SID_03
    host2_SID_04  -->     host1_SID_04
    host2_SID_04  -->     host3_SID_04
    host3_SID_04  -->     host1_SID_04
    host4_SID_01  -->     host1_SID_01
    host4_SID_02  -->     host1_SID_02
    host4_SID_02  -->     host2_SID_02
    host4_SID_02  -->     host3_SID_02
    The problem is between *_NUMBER to *_NUMBER!
    For example from Dialog Instance 3 running on host 2 to Dialog Instance 3 running on host 3
    For example host4_SID_01 means the Dialog Instance 1 running on host 4.

  • Hyper-V only able to ping remote (laptop) using IPV4, fails with IPV6

    I have a desktop setup to remotely manage Hyper-V and it is working fine.
    I am trying to setup remote management from my laptop.
    The server is failing to ping the laptop using IPV6.
    The desktop can ping both the server an the laptop using names and IPV6 option -6
    The laptop can ping the desktop and the Hyper-V server using name and IPV6 option -6
    Hyper-V server can ping the desktop, but not the laptop using IPV6 option -6
    Everything works fine with IPV4 .
    I have checked and rechecked the Hyper-V server Host table and it has what appears to be correct issues for both the desktop and the laptop.
    Any other thoughts on what to check?
    Thanks!

    Hi Ross,
    It seems that this is not a Hyper-v issue .
    Please try to use
    net work monitor to check the procedure of ping to find some clue .

  • Remote login using a script

    Hello,
    How to write a script to rlogin? ssh is not enabled.
    rlogin host123
    passw123

    Use "expect". On Linux Systems it's usually /usr/bin/expect. I don't have rshd running to get the actual string to look for, but you'll get the idea from the script below.
    Example script:
    #!/usr/bin/expect
    set password "PassWord"
    spawn /usr/bin/rsh somehost
    expect "assword:"
    send "$password\n"
    expect ""

    Hi,
    Base on my research, Event 537 indicates that a logon attempt was made and rejected for some reason other than those covered by explicit audit records in this category.
    Would you please provide more details?
    Are there any related warnings and errors under Application Logs or System Logs?
    By remotely login, do you mean logon via RDP?

  • Trying to remotely login to my sisters computer but failed

    Hi All..
    I am trying to remotely login to my Sisters computer located in India from U.S...
    What we have done till now:
    My sister has recently taken Internet connection in India and computer is connected via Modem and she could login to Modem and could find the Global IP address of their Internet connection.
    I am able to ping their global ip address/modem ip address attached to their computer..Now how do i login to their computer? I have used VNC server,net meeting etc..but I believe there is something to do with their Internet provider or to do port forwarding(they do not have any router) or to add their local IP address in DMZ of Provider(but they do not have any DMZ options in their Modem settings or options)....
    Can somebody please help me to remotely login to my sisters workstation...that would be of great help to us..

    Hello..
    My sister's global IP address(was found at::http://www.ip-adress.com/)...and used that so I believe it should be valid...
    And since she has windows xp home edition Remote desktop is not supported...so we used vnc server, net meeting..still unable to login....can u guide me with this..

  • Mountain lion - remote login - RESTRICTING SFTP use

    i have a 10.8.2 server installation with remote login turned on for all users.
    i have just discovered that this means that SFTP login is available for all users, even though file sharing is OFF and ftp is OFF.
    and, all users can navigate EVERYWHERE on the HDD.
    this seems a bit odd to me.
    how can we make it so admin users can access the whole HDD, but normal users can only see their home directory?
    thanks, James.

    Use Workgroup Manager to change each user's login shell to None or /usr/bin/false should do it for you. This may hamper one's ability to use a network user account though so you should check it out on one account first. If they're just using services then disabling their shell login will work fine. After that, enable the FTP server to limit your users' ability to navigate.
    FWIW, SFTP doesn't actually give anyone anything more than they don't already have through an SSH login.

  • How to login to remote machine using SSH?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where in I am required to connect to a remote machine using SSH and execute some commands, say a tail -100 on some file over there and pull back output data from the remote machine.
    I know we can use sockets to connect to remote machines and Runtime.exec to execute external commands. But I am unable to tie together the two of these to achieve whatever I want to do.
    Is it possible to somehow connect w/o using a custom server socket? The problem is that there is no concrete list of servers to connect to. It will be decided by the user. So I will not be able to install a server socket on each and every machine.
    Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks a lot.
    With regards,
    Ganesh

    Hi,
    I am writing a java program that will try to use a SSH client to connect to a remote machine. I do not want to log into every single remote machine to moitor stuff over there.
    My plan goes like this:
    Have a web application that can connect to a DB for all information regarding remote servers to be monitored.
    Based on user selection of a particular server, use data from the DB to connect to the particular remote server and pull in some data.
    Hope I am clear enough now. Thanks a lot.

  • Can't Set Remote Login OFF via Send Unix Command systemsetup

    Trying to use the System Setup->Remote Login template in ARD to turn off Remote Login (SSH) in Sharing panel of System Preferences on Mac that is administered through Apple Remote Desktop.
    In Apple Remote Desktop (ARD), I select the client machine, then choose "Send Unix Command..." from the "Manage" menu. In resultant window, I pick "System Setup->Remote Login (SSH) from the "Template" drop down box in the upper right. That populates the upper window with Unix commands. I edit/change the "on" to "off" and tell the dialog to Run command as User: root, then click on "Send" button.
    Progress bar goes forever with no change.
    I can turn off Remote Login via ARD by controlling each client machine via an ARD WINDOW, then navigating to the Sharing Preference pane, but that process is tedious when performing for multiple client Macs.
    Strange, but I CAN use the "Send Unix Command..." outlined above to turn ON Remote Login, and get the status of Remote Login ("systemsetup -getremotelogin"). Just can't turn OFF Remote Login (quickly/efficiently).
    man systemsetup suggests I need to write the command as "setremotelogin -f off" but that failed with an improper command syntax error.
    Thoughts?

    It’s waiting for you to type a confirmation. If you run this command on the command line normally, you’ll see the message:
    Do you really want to turn remote login off? If you do, you will lose this connection and can only turn it back on locally at the server (yes/no)?
    Use this command instead:
    systemsetup -f -setremotelogin off

  • Remotely enable "Remote Login"

    I need to enable "Remote Login" on several hundred macs. I am wondering if this can be done in bulk via ARD or by pushing out a script?
    The computers are currently not bound to Open Dir - that server failed and will be replaced in the near future
    Thanks for any info!

    This is done using several specific arguments for the serveradmin command. ...... you can use this feature to push them out to multiple workstations at a single time.

  • "Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed" when adding a new table

    Hello,
    I set up a replication flow from a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 with SAP ASE 16.0 source to SAP HANA 1.0 rev 82 target
    I am using a standalone SLT system NetWeaver 7.0 with DMIS 2011_1_731 (with SP 1 to 7).
    I have 100 tables to replicate.
    I succeeded to set up replication for 57 tables. These tables are replicating properly.
    Whenever I try to add a new one (with LTRC transaction, Data Provisioning -> Start Replication), the new table is marked as 'Failed' after a little while.
    When I press 'Show Error Log' button I got an obscure error message:
    "Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed "
    I do not understand this message. I checked both on SAP ASE source and SAP HANA target. I am still able to connect against both source and target.
    Can you please tell how to troubleshoot this error.
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

    First thank you for answering my questions. I really appreciate your answers.
    I rechecked the documentation.
    "Application Operations Guide SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server Document Version: 2.3 – 2014-07-08"
    Page 29 - 30
    3.5.2.2 Data Transfer Jobs
    This section explains the relationship between the number of data transfer jobs and the number of available background work process.
    Data transfer and data transformation processing on SLT server system is accomplished by the background work processes of the underlying SAP NetWeaver ABAP application server. Each job occupies 1 background work process in the SAP LT Replication Server system. For each configuration, the parameter Data Transfer Jobs restricts the maximum number of data load job for each mass transfer ID (MT_ID). In total, a mass transfer ID (MT_ID) requires at least 4 background jobs to be available:
     One monitoring job (master job)
     One master controller job
     At least one data load job
     One additional job either for the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to change configuration settings in the Configuration & Monitoring Dashboard
    Example
    If you set the parameter Data Transfer Jobs to 04 in a configuration “SCHEMA1”, a mass transfer ID 001 is assigned. As a result, the following jobs should be in the system:
    1 Master controller job: /1LT/IUC_REP_CNTR_001
     At most 4 parallel jobs for MT_ID 001: /1LT/IUC_LOAD_MT_001_001/~002/~003/~004
    When configuring your data load or replication scenario, consider the following:
     Do not define more data transfer jobs than the number of available application server background work processes. If all available background work processes are already occupied by jobs, any other job will have to wait until a free work process becomes available. This can lead to long wait times until a new activity (for example creating triggers) can start, and can also result in significantly increased latency times for data replication.
     The number of dialog work processes in the source system corresponds 1:1 with the number of data transfer jobs in the SAP LT Replication Server system.
     Besides the work processes allocated by the data transfer jobs you need to provide additional available work processes for controller and monitoring jobs, the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to perform configuration changes, and so on.
    Sizing for SAP LT Replication Server involves determining how many work processes are required to perform the initial load of data into the target system within an acceptable timeframe, and accomplish the change capturing and the transfer of data changes to the target system within expected latency times.
    Ensure that you add enough additional work processes to allow other required SAP LT Replication Server jobs to run.
    Finally, you map the number of required application server work processes to their system resource consumption (CPU, memory, disc space) using the formulas provided by the SLT Sizing Guide.
    With the simple formula below, you can calculate the number of required application server work processes (WPs) on the SLT Server for each active SLT configuration.
    The number of required work processes can be determined by adding
     The Number of required data transfer jobs ,
     plus one background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
     plus one background work process for Master Controller Job,
     plus 3-5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
     plus approx. 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
    Note: A lack of available free application server work processes can negatively affect the data load or data replication processes.
    To summarize everything, the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs' must be set depending of the number of source tables, it is not the actual number of tables.
    Assume that for my 100 tables I use 10 'Data Transfer Jobs' :
    - The number of work processes on the SLT server would be 20. I took the simple formula of the documentation:
    10 data transfer jobs ,
    + 1 background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
    + 1 background work process for Master Controller Job,
    + 5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
    + 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
    - The number of dialog processes on the source server would be 10 ( equal to the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs')
    Am I correct ?

    Christian

  • What is the best way to remotely login to another Mac?

    My mother & I recently decided to take the plunge from the PC world to Apple world.  I have an MBP w/ OS X 10.8.2, and she has the same w/o the recent OS upgrade (10.7.?).  While we're both still at the bottom of the learning curve, I'm a little further ahead and am constantly running over to her place to trouble shoot/assist her with the transition.  I've been researching ways to remotely login to her computer and am now more confused than when I started.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  I basically want to be able to login to her system and takeover as if I were on site.  And, while I don't know if my research, thus far, has brought me any closer to a solution, it has raised a few questions:
    1)  Do I simply want to go with 3rd party sofware like Logmein and will the free versions be sufficient or are they just trial offers?
    2)  Or is ARD my best option and am I right in assuming we'd each have to pony up the $80 for installs on both MBPs?
    3)  Some of the discussions talk about much more expensive ARD fees with multiple licenses.  Am I correct in assuming these are meant for network administrators and wouldn't be necessary for my purposes?
    4)  I noticed a free VCN version available from the App Store but came accross posts which seem to indicate possible security issues.  Are these valid concerns and does ARD address them?
    5)  Will I run into problems because we're using different OSs?
    6)  I attempted to follow instructions for an "ssh" remote login that I found by doing a search of 'remote login' under the Apple Support.  But when a password was requested, I didn't seem to be able to enter one into the command line.  Again, I'm new to Macs, but the cursor didn't move when I entered characters, so I was left wondering whether characters were being entered or whether this is Appple's '*****' feature used to guard passwords.  Either way, after 3 attempts, my efforts were repeatedly terminated.  Unfortunately, I'm not even sure I was entering a valid password as the article I'm referring to didn't specify how to set a password.  I used a VCN password I had set up under the Remote Management option in the Sharing utility under System Preferences.  I'm assuming this was the password they were looking for but couldn't be 100% sure as the instructions I followed were not related to "ssh" logins nor were they from Apple Suppot.  Anyway, is this "ssh" login worth pursuing and does it function independently or does it only work in conjuction with ARD?  If it is a stand alone solution, where can I go for better guidance?  The Apple Support link I used was:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1112.
    7)  Being recovering Windows users, we both have MS Office for Mac 2011 which has MS's Remote Desktop Connection app.  But from reviewing a few posts, it looks like that comes with it's own set of issues.  It also kind of defeats the purpose as I'm trying to wien myself off of MS.  But if someone out there has experience and suggests this as the "ultimate" solution, I'm willing to listen.
    I know I've babbled on quite a bit and I don't actually expect anyone to take the time to answer all of my questions.  But I'm hoping I might get a collective answer, and more importatnly, I'm really hoping to narrow the field and get generally guidance on the best Mac-to-Mac remote login solution.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore.  I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere?  Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?
