Remote presenter mouse for Captivate 4

Are there any remote presenters / mice that will work with Captivate 4?
I have searched the internet but when I enter a search which includes 'presenter' all I get is the Adobe Presenter references, not a remote presenter and mouse or mice does not fare any better.
Is captivate incompatible with remote presenters? If so, are there plans to provide this in later versions? I do not want to create a course in Captivate for web-based learning and have to create a whole new course in PowerPoint (for example) for a classroom course.
If anybody knows of a work-around, please share.

Hi there
You should be able to make the typical Remote presenter work. As I understand it, these devices work just like a very limited keyboard. The Left button transmits a Page Up keystroke. The Right button transmits a Page Down keystroke. The Top button sends an Alt+Esc keystroke and the Bottom button sends a B keystroke.
Soooo, what you can do is to construct your Captivate presentation so that you have Click Box or Button objects that operate using Shortcut keys. If you insert a Click Box and program a keyboard shortcut of Page Up, the left button on the remote should act as if the mouse clicked that Click Box. Same goes for a Click Box programmed with a keyboard shortcut of Page Down.
Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • HELP! Presentation in 5 hours/Cannot control mouse for notes!

Hello all! I hope someone can help me with this because I have tried everything. I have a Keynote presentation ready for presenting in 5 hours. I have plugged my Powerbook in my TV (which has VGA connection) to test my presentation out. The presentation shows up on my TV correctly, and I see on my powerbook the presenter version with timer and next slide etc. My problem is that I have notes entered into each slide that I can see from my Powerbook however I cannot scroll downwards to read them all because my mouse pointer shows up on the TV instead of my Powerbook. I'm helpless without these notes, and it will take me a while to transcribe them to another document to print. I would love to know if there is a solution for this.
Thanks to all who can help me, extremely appreciated

Launch Keynote. Go to the Help menu and click on Keynote Help. In the Help Viewer, click Learn About Keynote and then click on Keyboard Shortcuts. You need to use U and D to scroll notes Up or Down during a presentation. You cannot use the mouse for this. To have your cursor appear on the presentation screen, click C.

  • Is it possible to "convert" a PPT/Presenter file to Captivate and retain the audio, video, etc.?

Hi - I'm wondering if someone has done this or can recommend the best way to do this.
We have a PPT/Presenter file that was created using PPT 2010 and Presenter 9. We recorded audio for the training right in Presenter and have also imported videos into the file using Presenter.
We need to output the file to DVD to actually play on a DVD player. We know we can do that with Captivate (we are using Captivate 5) and are wondering if there is a way to take our file (the package so to speak) and get that to open in Captivate and retain all of the pieces that we have added to it (audio, video, hyperlinks).
Or, alternatively, if there is a way to publish our Presenter file to DVD format, that would work for us too.
Thank you for any information or suggestions!
    Emily

    Hi Emily,
Presenter contents and captivate contents are different. but you can achieve it using the following steps in presenter.
    1. Open you presentation.
    2. GO to Adobe Presenter>>Publish .Publish dialog will open.
    3. Check the CD package checkbox and publish the content.
    4. Now Goto the publish folder and burn the content on DVD.
After successfull Burn, You can play on DVD player.
I hope this will work  for you. Kindly let me know if you are facing any problem.
    Thanks,

  • Is there presenter v10 for Mac, is video Express the same features i.e. Powerpoint etc etc

is there presenter V10 for Mac, is video Express V10 the same features as windows version  i.e. Powerpoint etc etc

The Presenter Video Express is a screen and web cam capture tool. The PPT integration and functionality is Widows only.
You may want to look at Captivate, which has both a Mac and Windows version, and can work with PPT content.

  • Keynote and Microsoft Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000

    Hey folks,
i seached on this in the forum, but actually did not find any hints about my problem.
So I switched from PowerPoint to Keynote some weeks ago and got to do my first big presentation with Keynote in some days. I am amazed by the possibilities Keynote offers.
Still, I am stuck with a problem:
I am using the Microsoft Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000 with its original MS drivers. I am just amazed by that piece of hardware. For those who dont know it: Its a Laptop Mouse which you can flip. On the downside, you've got presenter controls like Forward/Back/Play/Louder and a laser pointer button. You can easily switch between mouse mode and presenter mode, so you dont hit mouse buttons accidentially when presenting and vice versa.
With PowerPoint, it just works as it should. With Keynote, it doesn't work. The only thing that works it to change the volume and the play/pause button. Anyway, Keynote does not react to it.
    Somebody encountered that problem before?
    Thanks
    Thorben

I'm running into that problem right now. I really like the mouse, but I've got to get it working with Keynote, else, I'll have to return the product.
I've tried using Steermouse, but it doesn't seem to be able to remap those those "Presenter" keys. The analysis is able to read the button presses, but the driver isn't able to remap.
If anyone knows of a workaround, please let me know! I'll try Applescript and some other things, but I'm about to give it up and just get a separate presentation tool.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Bit rate standards for Compressing video for Captivate

I have been trying to decide whether rto use constant bit rate or a variable bit rate when compressing my video to embed in Captivate.
I have been told by Connect support that a constant bit rate is better for deploying video in Presenter but I am wondering if anyone has information as whether that is also true for Captivate. We are using captive as a means to offer a series of video question and answer sequence for a client of ours, and I  am interested in  getting the best quality with the smoothest performance in a progressive download flv format
For a simple talking head I am tempted to use a variable bit rate but, I cannot find anything in the seaces I have made that talk about the spec or any pros an cons to that quetsion for Captivate.
Doee anyone have any expereince with that?

I have always used constant bitrate for videos imported into Captivate and that has worked fine. However, I never tried using variable bit rate so I don't know if it will work better or worse.
My guess is that it would be better to go with constant bitrate though because Captivate do have some funny issues with FLV's sometimes and it's probably better not to "stress" captivate ;o)

  • How do I disconnect a Powerpoint presentation from a Captivate .cp?

I am a new user to captivate. I am using Captivate 4. I imported a powerpoint presentation into my captivate slides. I am not sure what I did, but the presentation is connected across my captivate presentations. For example: While practicing I created four presentations. If I edit a .ppt slide in one captivate, the slide edits in the other three. How do I disconnect the powerpoint slides from the captivates?
Also, I have tried to import a new .ppt into a captivate and captivate will only open the old .ppt, even though I am pointing to the new one. Why is that?
    Thank you,
    Condopoe

You may need to change the linkage to the PowerPoint file so that it becomes embedded instead of linked.
Here are the instructions from the Help:
Change link type after importing the presentation
Open the Adobe Captivate project in Edit mode and navigate to a slide that was imported from the PowerPoint presentation.
Click Edit PPT and select Find Presentation In Library. When you select this option, the PowerPoint presentation containing the slide is highlighted in the library.
In the Library panel, right-click the presentation in the Presentation folder.
    Do one of the following:
Select Change To Linked if you have not linked to (embedded) the presentation during import. Specify a location for the linked file on your computer.
Select Change To Embedded to embed the linked file into your project.
    Here is the screenshot:

  • Annoucement: New Menu Wizard for Captivate

I'd like to announce our latest product release - the
    Menu Wizard for Adobe Captivate
    The
Menu Wizard is a 3rd-party software product that integrates
directly into published Adobe Captivate movies. The
Menu Wizard is a Flash movie that provides a dynamic menu -

requested feature for Captivate - and is often discussed here in
    the Forums.
    The
Menu Wizard uses a .XML file read the menu content and
settings. You can configure many options, including the number of
menu buttons, button text, background colors (up/over), font, font
size, font color (up/over), border width and color, drop shadow,
button size (height, width), location, horizontal/vertical layout,
transparency, and menu header options. The product is distributed

Dirk, the Menu Wizard does not have a feature to
restrict users from going to various sections (slides) until
they have visited other sections (slides).
However, you might be able to accomplish this by 1) using
some creative branching or 2) breaking your project up into
separate movies - 1 for each section. At the end of section 1 -
there is a Click Box or Button that will launch section 2. In this
case, the Menu Wizard would be used for navigation within 1 movie
    (section) at a time.

  • Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA

    Hi
Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA.
I have a server 2012 remote access gateway, with remote apps published(which uses single signon), behind a 2FA connection (web based) and want to know if its possible to allow macs to connect to the remote Apps behind it. i cannot permanently remove any
of the above setup as it is a requirement.
When i connect from a mac i can login to both the 2FA and remote access web pages and see all the apps but when i click on any app it downloads it to the mac and when i try to run it using Remote Desktop App for MAC i get an error :
"httpendpointexception: 4, The non-proxy http connection failed to connect with the message: 500 internal Server Error."
I have tried with 2fa turned off for testing and get the same result.Does it support 2012 TSGW server? does it support Remote desktop apps? as i cant find a definitive answer on either.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From Error description it seems to be a communication issue between your Mac and your RD gateway server. If you connect from extranet, you may need Remote Desktop Gateway or a VPN/Direct Access connection to your intranet, or forward port 3389 on your router.
500 Internal Server Error seems to be a HTTP related error.
The HTTP status code in IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0
Also, please double check the settings if you have a RD gateway implemented in you intranet.
    http://redmondmag.com/articles/2013/12/24/rd-gateway-in-windows-server.aspx
In Windows Server 2012 R2 RD Gateway pluggable authentication is also introduced. This allows custom authentication routines to be used with RD Gateway. For example building a two-factor solution on top of RD Gateway is now possible which allows doing token-authentication
to the RD Gateway which works seamlessly with RD Web Access or RDP file launching.
Please check below article for more information.
Windows Server 2012 R2 is coming what does this add to RDS – VDI
In addition, please provide the log file from the client for further research.

    Hope it helps!

    Hi, Tom.
FYI: You've not stated which of your listed Macs is having the problem. However, the following may help in any case:
    1. Did you install Front Row using the Front Row hack on a Mac that did not ship from the factory with Front Row installed? If so, See my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ. This has been known to cause a variety of problems, including the menu bar (Clock, Spotlight) issues you noted.
    2. If you did not install the Front Row Hack, an incompatible or corrupted Startup or Login Item may be partly to blame for the problems with the menu bar. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    3. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.

  • Remote Desktop Connection for Mac - connection lost after a minute idle

    Hi There,
I am trying to connect from a Macbook Pro to my work (XP) machine using the latest Remote Desktop Connection for Mac.
It used to work fine, and recently it has been dropping the connection if I've not been 'active' for a minute or so.
What is confusing is that it is not always like this. Some days, I can leave it inactive for hours over lunch etc, and I'll come back and it will be fine. And just the other day, in the morning it dropped me out ever minute or so I was inactive, and then the afternoon was fine, and the evening was troublsome again.
Our administrators had not changed anything during that time, nor had I changed anything on my XP machine at work, or my Mac at home.
I connect via a wireless connection.
These problems occur when running on battery and when plugged in.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    ThreeIsles

  • Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both   on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
    Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
    System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
    Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
    Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
    Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility
