Remote Profiling support in Azure App Service
Remote Profiling support in Azure App ServiceAzure Web Apps as well as API Apps and WebJobs can now be remotely profiled. If your process is running slower than expected, or the latency of HTTP requests are higher than normal and the CPU usage of the process is also pretty high, you can remotely profile your process and get the CPU sampling call stacks to analyze the process activity and code hot paths.There arethree ways to profile a process in Azure App Service and get the CPU usage report:Using Visual Studio 2015Browsing the Azure App Service’s Site Control Management dashboard (aka kudu)Using REST APIsProfiling is not supportedon free or shared sites. The site needs to be upgraded to Basic or Standardin orderto be profiled. Also note, CPU profiling works best with .Net apps.Profiling using Visual Studio 2015Follow the steps below...

The Azure App Service API Apps Team
Jim Cheshire | MicrosoftHey Mikael!
I actually was struggling through pretty much the same things at the same time that you were.
The EventTriggered extension is actually in the Microsoft.Azure.AppService.ApiApps.Service namespace, so without a using directive for that it will not be happy.
I created a library to help with the metadata generation required for Triggers, and did a write-up on exactly what it takes to create both a polling and push trigger (with a few more samples) here: https://github.com/nihaue/TRex#building-a-polling-trigger-api-app
Hopefully having that combined with
the official docs, and also
Sameer's sample can get you on the right track.

Azure App Service API app triggers feedback
Hi
I am kinda new to this and when I tried to build a trigger as defined in the article
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-service-api-dotnet-triggers/ I simply do not seem to know what I am doing wrong.
I get a lot of compilation errors just using the code in a ASP Net Web Applicaton project, using the Azure API App template. I tried to place the code in a controller but then I get complation errors on a couple of places. The most noticable:
return
this.Request.EventTriggered(new{
files = touchedFiles });
The EventTrigger extension method does not seem to exist. What am I doing wrong?

Telemetry Support in Azure Search Service
Does Azure Search Service provides any out-of-the-box telemetry support?
For, example, does it store any data relating to which keyword has been searched the maximum number of time, or which filter has been applied more number of times, etc.Hi Pratik,

Azure Web Apps (Web Sites) vs Azure Cloud Services (Web Roles)
Hi All,
Need some help in choosing between the Web App or a Web Role for a MVC5 application that we are going to build. We are planning to build an MVC5 application which will consume a Web API (hosted on Azure). The MVC5 application would be an external site and
it needs to be load balanced and it would be hosted on Azure.
We are not able to decide on the hosting options for the same ... between Azure Web Apps and a Web Role. We didnt come across anything which will help us to make a choice as to where the Web Apps fall short or which one should one go for etc.
Any help on this front would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
SaurabhTo make your life easier you should start by using Web Apps, they have many more features than Web Roles (git deployment, backup, free sku, webjobs, continuous integration and many more).
There are some scenarios that are not supported like remote desktop to the VM.
But the reason you should start with them is that unlike Web Roles you won't have any special code relying on the environment you are running on so you will be able to easily move to web roles in case you find a scenario that is not supported by Web Apps. -
Integrating a PHP Web App with an Existing Azure Mobile Services and Mobile App
I've got an existing mobile app that is integrated with Azure's mobile services. The mobile services are currently connected to Azure Active Directory with MFA enabled. I'd like to build a separate PHP-based web application (Azure VM) that uses this existing
mobile service and authentication.
I reviewed the Azure PHP SDK, but didn't see any tie-ins to the Mobile Service. Additionally, Azure has some great tutorials, but for mobile services they all seem to focus on iOS, Android, and Windows phone. Any insight into how to tie a PHP-app into this
backend would be much appreciated!Although there isn't any client library for PHP, you can still access Mobile Service using the
Azure Mobile Service REST API.

What are the performance implications moving apps using cloud drive to Azure File Services?
I run a number of cloud services with 5 or more nodes in using cloud drives. Cloud drive is scheduled to be deprecated in 2015. So I am thinking of replacing the cloud drive with Azure Files service.
For each cloud service I am using one storage account to create all the the VHD/cloud drives. Some people at the time when cloud drive first appeared, told me that to get better performance, I should create only one VHD/Cloud Drive
under only one storage account. For example, if I have five instances under a worker role then I should create 5 storage accounts and create one VHD/Cloud Drive under each storage account to be used by each node. I didn't follow that route because I was satisfied
with the performance of the apps under cloud services having all VHD/Cloud Drives under one storage account.
My question is, if I replace cloud drive with Azure file services, will my apps perform well having all shares under one storage account or create one storage account for each share?
Thanks,
@nazik_huqThanks Obama for replying.
Here is the comment from @jaiharidas of MSFT if anyone's interested:
@Naziq, It is better to have multiple shares under single storage account and there is no perf implications. However, please ensure that your ingress/egress and request/sec is within
the limits of a single storage account (seemsdn.microsoft.com/.../dn249410.aspx)
and use multiple storage accounts if you need to scale beyond the limits.

Does Azure Media services support storing images?
Hi,
We are planning to store the media files in azure cloud, initially we planned to use the Azure blob storage and after deeply investigating we found the Azure media services has some outstanding capabilities like streaming offline viewing etc. compared
to azure blob storage.
So here my question, does this supports storing the images as well?Please confirm this ASAP.
I read the some article about media services, there it has been given like below, but Just i want to confirmation about this.
Supported file types in Azure Media Services
Various video, audio, and image file types can be uploaded to a Media Services account, with there being no restriction on the types or formats of files that you can upload using the Media Services SDK. However, the Azure Management portal restricts uploads
to the formats that are supported by the Azure Media Encoder. These import formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and Windows Media Video encoded video, MP3, WAVE, and Windows Media Audio encoded audio, and BMP, JPEG, and PNG encoded images. The Azure Media
Encoder can export data as Windows Media Video, Windows Media Audio, MP4, and Smooth Streaming File Format.
For more information about the supported file formats see "Supported input formats" and "Introduction to encoding."
Thanks,
KiranHi John,
One more Question here.
As of now we are planning to store and retrieve only the images and audio files with media services, so can I avoid encoding and packaging and use it?Will it work?
Can I access the images and audio files without encoding and packaging?
In future, we are are planning to add the videos as well.
I think encoding and packaging will come into picture when streaming the videos.
Thanks,
Kiran -
I am trying to invoke remote debugger on an Azure worker role cloud service, following the example of
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/ff683670.aspx
But on attaching the remote debugger for the cloud service instance
Microsoft Visual Studio
There was a failure to launch the remote debugger.
OK
According to somebody else's extra coverage on the topic, there are extra ports 4016/4017 that need to be taken care of (but do they have to be exposed externally)?
http://developers.de/blogs/damir_dobric/archive/2014/02/04/behind-windows-azure-remote-debugger.aspx
So servicedefinition.csdef gets

</ConfigurationSettings>

But all these are to no avail; the same error still pops for Visual Studio 2013 Update 4; Azure SDK 2.3
Anybody regularly perform remote debugging for Azure cloud services?
The melody of logic will always play out the truth. ~ Narumi Ayumu, SpiralAnd, how do I control that in Visual Studio?
All I get is the Attach Debugger... context menu option in the Azure cloud service nodes in Server Explorer. That is where it is failing. There are no customisable options.
Because of that, the Attach to Process dialog box is unable to retrieve the list of processes (to debug) in the remote worker role instance server.
I tested a blank-template worker role project and published to a new cloud project, and this simplistic copy had no problems with the Remote debugger.
Now the question is, what is it about this real-world project/cloud service that is different from blank sample? From what I compare between what I think are the relevant settings, there are none.

Hi,
am planning to develop a live streaming app using C# and xaml.
I have gone through the below sample and am able to stream the live content using wireacst camera.
Azure Media Services Live Streaming Sample
But i want to use Phone camera to stream the live video rather using wirecast camera.
How can i use that? How to get the published URL from the C# code, is there any API to get that?
Anybody please help me
Regards,
SanthoshHello,
There are no in box components that will allow you to transmit captured video from a Windows Phone device to Azure Media Services. You will need to create you own implementation. You can do this by creating a custom Media Foundation sync that can plug into
the MediaCapture element's pipeline. You will then need to modify the captured and compressed video to align to one of the two protocols that Azure Media services can use. At this time Azure Media services can use either Smooth Streaming or RTMP for ingestion.
You will need to create your own packager (or find compatible packager code from a 3rd party) to package the MP4 encoded data into the necessary format.
Here is an example of how to create a custom Media Foundation sync (please note you must write your Media Foundation components using C++ MoCOM. We do not support Media Foundation components written in managed languages):

Compare templates in Visual Studio for an Azure Web Service
I know I want to create a web service in Azure for consumption by native mobile apps as well as a web application for use on mobile devices, laptops etc. OAuth and Sql Server would be nice too. It seems I can choose from the following templates in
VS:-
Azure Mobile App
Azure Mobile Service
Azure Api App
ASP.NET Web Application - Web Api sub-template
ASP.NET Web Application - MVC sub-template with Web Api "core reference"
My understanding is you could choose any of these and add what's missing into it, however I would like as much guidance as possible as I am trying to learn at the same time. So how does one choose the path of least resistance, ie one
that starts with the most appropriate combination of technologies supported, with the least amount of unnecessary support that is not required, and using the most modern techniques going forward? Is there a comparison somewhere that could assist me?
I have created new examples of these projects using VS2015 and compared what is generated in an attempt to understand, but even then I see similar libraries included but with slightly different names or versions eg
package id="Microsoft.Azure.Mobile.Server.Tables" version="0.1.506"
vs
package id="WindowsAzure.MobileServices.Backend.Tables" version="1.0.438"
thanks in advance - any advice gratefully appreciated.

PaulThanks edencorbin

Remote host supports the use of SSL ciphers that offer weak encryption
Dear All,
Our Internal security audit suggests to avoid the use of Week SSL ciphers for our SAP PI 7.0 servers.
We have followed the SAP note 510007 - Setting up SSL on Web Application Server ABAP
as mentioned in the point 6 we have added below parameter in the instance profile of application server and restarted our server but still the issue is not resoved.
ssl/ciphersuites=MEDIUM:HIGH:EXPORT:!LOW:!eNULL
Clients are accessing our PI server through SAP Web dispatcher.
Kindly suggest the action to be taken to resolve the issue.
Please find the below comment from Audit.
The remote host supports the use of SSL ciphers that offer weak encryption.
Note: This is considerably easier to exploit if the attacker is on the same physical network

Is there a list of best practices for Azure Cloud Services?
Hi all;
I was talking with a Sql Server expert today and learned that Azure Sql Server can take up to a minute to respond to a query that normally takes a fraction of a second. This is one of those things where it's really valuable to learn it when architecting as
opposed to when we go live.
Cloud Services are not Sql Server (obviously) but that led to the question - Is there a list of best practices for Azure Cloud Services? If so, what are they?
We will be placing the cloud services in multiple datacenters and using traffic manager to point people to the right one. The cloud service will set between an IMAP client & server, pretending to be the mail client to the server, and the server to the client.
Mostly it will pass all requests & responses across from one to the other.
thanks - dave

For this issue, I have collected some blogs and document about best practices for azure cloud service, you can view them, but I am not sure they are your need.

For your scenarioes, If you'd like to communicate with each instances, I recommend you refer to this document (
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh180158.aspx ). And generally, if we want connect the client to server on Azure, the service bus is a good choice (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-dotnet-multi-tier-app-using-service-bus-queues/
If I misunderstood, please let me know.
