Remote users sending email - RBL and SMTP authentication

I've read about the problem of using RBL's with remote Outlook IMAP/SMTP users who may be using dynamically assigned IP addresses. There is a good chance that they will be appear on the RBL and so not be able to send email via the GWIA.
One work around is to have them send their email via their ISP's SMTP server, but this is a pain, because when they are back in the office, then need to switch their SMTP server back to the inhouse one.
So on the GW 7.0.3 server running on SLES 10, I wondered if the one host could handle multiple GWIA's??
1st existing GWIA:
To handle the regular in/out email with RBL's protection on it.
2nd new GWIA on a separate port but same IP address to handle just inbound email. This would be used by remote users and require authentication so no need for an RBL on it.
Is this a sound approach?
Any gotchas for setting up two gwia's on the one server and IP address besides separate ports?
I am aware there is the option of using the Groupiwse client or webmail, but firstly these users don't want to change from 'LookOut" due to their address book synch with their mobile phones and secondly sometimes they like to use their smart phones for remote email synchronisation.

Maybe I should simplify this a little...
Can the one host handle multiple GWIA's??
1st existing GWIA:
To handle the regular in/out email with RBL's protection on it.
2nd new GWIA on the same host and IP address, but on a separate port to handle just inbound email. This would be used by remote users and require authentication.

but we use the same procedure running in 10g(10.03) it works perfectly. Is Oracle 10g(10.0.4 vs. 10.0.3) causing this issue ? Can someone shed some lights on my head ? Thx.

We found what is wrong about this.
The problem is in CC we had a e-mail address has one space like this test [email protected] so UTL_smtp doesn't like this kind format then we recreated a new e-mail address without space and it works fine.

  • Send email from OWB with authenticated SMTP server (AUTH_LOGIN)

    Hi all,
I want to send email from Oracle Warehouse Builder 11.2.0.2 using a SMTP server with basic authentication (AUTH_LOGIN).
I've created an ACL for OWBSYS user according to note ID 1229769.1 in support.oracle.com.
But, I need to configure again the ACL to connect to the SMTP server using user and password.
I read the article in metalink, *How to Send an Email Using SMTP over an SSL Connection [ID 1323140.1]*+
but I don't know how can I configure again the ACL for use in OWB.
How OWB is able to authenticate with the SMTP server?
    Thanks!

  • How to send email to a SMTP server over a secure channel using STARTTLS setting of a send connector (Exchange and SMTP server are in the same domain)

I’m trying to send email using exchange send connector STARTTLS setting to the SMTP server. I have read multiple documents on configuring TLS for send connector, but they talks about outbound connections to internet facing servers. My Exchange 2013 and SMTP
server is in the same domain (let’s say A.com) and I’m creating dummy domains on my SMTP server (e.g.
    [email protected],
[email protected] ) and their respective send connectors on the exchange server end. In the smart host section added the IP address of the SMTP server and in the scoping section added the SMTP domain address (e.g. dummy1.local ). In the FQDN field, added
the FQDN of the exchange server 2013 which certificate is enabled with SMTP service.
Could you tell me a step by step procedure, where I’m going wrong or any extra settings needs to added?
Presently, it is giving me an error that 530 5.5.1 TLS encrypted connection is required.
Note: I’ve created the Microsoft CA certificates for the SMTP and exchange servers and imported them in the personal certificate container. In which, the exchange certificate is created with FQDN name of the server and enabled for the SMTP service.
I’m using OPENSSL certificate for making the SMTP server TLS enabled. (let me know, if I need to import the OPENSSL certificate anywhere on the exchange end)?
    Thanks!

-IgnoreSTARTTLS is set to false on the send connector properties.
I'm trying to established a HTTP over TLS connection. I'm not using mutual TLS between these two server.

  • Sending email from 2 SMTP servers

    Hi Experts,
We have users from different domains in 1 client. Emails are send out from different domains. We directed SCOT to 1 of the SMTP server, and the email administrator will setup relays from this SMTP server to other SMTP servers. But now, some are saying that relays are not secure and that it should be removed. Hence, we are trying to find alternative.
How am I able to add another SMTP node in SCOT so that email from different domains are directed to different SMTP servers directly?
    Thanks,
    TM

You will not find anything from SAP to support your claim.
SAP designed its system to be able to send emails to a single SMTP node. That is a fact and it is logical because SAP Netweaver is not a dedicated mail software.
If you have more complex needs, you have to find a workaround.
In my company, my solution was to install an SMTP relay software managed by the SAP administration team.
Therefore we can set our own routing rules for incoming or outgoing mails from our SAP systems (ECC, SRM, CRM, etc...)
This SMTP relay can then send or receive emails from the company SMTP official servers.

    Olivier

  • Can't send email on iphone - smtp error

I can retrieve email without issue on my iPhone and computer. I sync'd the iPhone via iTunes so I have not physically typed info into my iPhone - settings are identical to my computer Mail settings. When sending emails I get the message: "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server 'smtp.comcast.net' failed. Any suggestions?

Actually you don't want identical settings on the iPhone, which Apple warns against in the manual.
Do you have a section or page number in the manual where it indicates this because I don't recall seeing it or I missed it.
The option to sync email account settings via the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes syncs or transfers the same account settings from your computer to the iPhone. This can work depending on the IPS used for connecting to the internet but it is usually the ISP being used for the internet connection that has the restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of their network.
Apparently Comcast is the OP's ISP so if the OP has a wireless network at home using Comcast for the internet connection and is able to send messages with the computer's email client but not with the iPhone using the same settings when connected to the internet with Comcast, something may have gone wrong with account settings transfer to the iPhone which is why deleting and manually creating the account on the iPhone is the next step to take if this is the situation.
I use the identical SMTP server settings with my .Mac account, my business POP account and my Gmail IMAP account but each has its own SMTP server which is authenticated. Many ISPs will allow the use of an SMTP server that is outside of their network as long as the SMTP server is authenticated. Some block using Port 25 for an SMTP server that is outside of their network regardless if the SMTP server is authenticated or not and in that case, using 587 for the Server Port using works.

  • Can't send email because of 'password authentication' error message.

I am having a problem sending email. I can receive emails but not send. The message I am getting is "The SMTP server "mail.grandecom.net" (my provider's server) doesn't support Password authentication. Please check you account settings..."
I have checked my account settings and tried all of the variables many, many times already. i have called my ISP and confirmed the settings with them. I have 4 different mail clients on my computer and they will all correctly receive and send using the same settings as those on the ipad yet still get them same error message.
I am using the iPad over wi-fi.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I would delete the problem email account and re-enter the the account. It is easy to make an error in setting up the account but hard to find the error and that is why deleting and reentering it is often better,

  • Problems with verifying email address and SMTP set...

I have recently moved over to BT Infinity Broadband and regularly work from home.  Recently I have been unable to send work emails (provided by 123 Reg) and having searched the forums I found a solution by using ny btinternet login details and verifying my email address.
However I have been able to verify two of my work email addresses but not the main and most important one.  Each time I try I get an "invalid email address" error message.  This is not causing too many problems with Outlook 2010 as I can still send and receive emails at present, hopefully this will remain.
However I do also use a case management software which sends emails.  It requires a SMTP server details and port number.  I have replicated these with the ones from Outlook, mail.btinternet.com and port number 465 but I am unable to send any emails.
I would be grateful if anybody could help me to verify my email address and also suggest what settings I would need for my case management software.
    Many Thanks,
    Will

I am a BT Premium Mail customer for my BT Talk21 e-mail account.
All was working fine on my PC and on my Mobile when I left the UK on 18t Sept.
In Greece, I was accessing e-mails, and responding to them, via the COSMOTE mobile network.
The problem started around 1st October, when I found that I could not reply to e-mails via my phone ("Sending Failed") - it would sometimes work if I switched my phone off an back on again, but I just couldn't send e-mails from my Android phone.
On my return to the UK, on 3rd Oct,  I found that I couldn't send e-mails via my Outlook 2010 client on my Windows 7 Computer, directly connected to my router-  getting error message 522 (account set up as POP3)
    Test message returns:
"Send test e-mail message: Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).  The server responded: 522 Your message has not been sent as you are accessin"
So, 2 separate devices, connected differently, where experiencing the same problem - the commonality BT E-mail severs.
I spent 2 days of absolute hell with BT's Indian call centres who were worse than useless - refusing to accept that this was a BT sever-related issue.
    VOL 012-*********** – 4th Oct
    VOL 012-*********** – 4th Oct
On my Mobile, as a test, I deleted my (POP3) mobile account on my phone, the idea to re-instate it.
On trying to set it up again, the BT mails servers wouldn't allow me to set it up as POP3 (even though up until the point of the problem it was POP3).
However, it eventually allowed me to set it up as SMTP/IMAP - and I can now send and recieve e-mails on my Talk21 account on my mobile. Although, being IMAP/SMTP it now deletes mails off the server if I delete them on my phone - which I found out the hard way.
My Outlook client on my computer still cannot send e-mails - returning the error code 522.
I have also accessed my account via webmail (which seems to work both ways) and have changed and verified my passwords, but the problem still exists.
In addition, my daughter also has a Talk21 Premium Mail account, and accessing via a different computer Microsoft Mail on a Vista machine, and she is experiencing the same problem.
I find out today that BT is withdrawing from Yahoo and is changing/has changed it's e-mail systems.
The problems I and my daughter are experiencing appear to be general BT Mail Server problems that need to addressed centrally, and not a single-user level as the likelihood is that many are affected.
I would like BT to look into this as a matter of urgency.

  • Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
    "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
    Here is some general info:
    Mail provider: lineone
    ISP: BT
    Anti-virus software: AVG
    OS: Windows Vista
    Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

    Hello @shredo,
Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
*Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
    * Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
    * Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
    I hope this helps.

  • HP iPAQ rw6828 and smtp authentication

    Hi there
I'm trying to get an ipaq rw6828 to send mail through my xserve's smtp server - but I can't get it working.
I have tested the settings through apple mail and it's working fine - but with the same settings in my ipaq it won't send mail. It checks the pop server fine so can download no problem, but it just won't send.
I've tried it with and without authentication on but no go. I've tried using a different port and appending the port number to the smtp:2525 server name but no go.
I've google'd it to death and I'm all out of ideas.
Can anyone suggest anything I can try?
    Thanks, Regan.

The SMPT port is 25 not 2525!
Is your Apple Mail client in the same network as your server? Your iPaq?
What kind of authentication method are you specifiying. Is it a method you have activated on your server as well?
To tell you more, open terminal and post the unmodified output of:
    postconf -n

  • I can not send email, outgoing mail smtp is off by itself.

The out going server SMTP is turned off and it does not tunrs on ( yahoo bizmail account) . I have tryed to turn off Firewall but still did not work. I erased the email account and started all over again and still no luck. I have an Apple iCloud account ( me.com ) in the same computer and it's working fine, the prolbem is with the Yahoo account. Thanx

SMTP is the protocol used to send email.
If you go into System Prefs > Mail you should be able to see your email account.
If it is turned off, try deleting the ccount and recreating it.

  • Send Email & Save and Display Data

I've got a simple process with a Set Value and Assign User activities and one variable to read the contents of an XDP form. The assigned user the reviews the form. This much I know works.
From this point on, I am adding to routes to the last task: the reviewer may accept or reject the form. If it is accepted, I want the form to be saved in PDF form and displayed for the user to read and type some of that data somewhere else (I may automate this at another time). If it is rejected, I want Workspace to send an email to the process creator (the person who filled out the form--not the reviewer) indicating that there are errors or omissions to correct. Then, the form is reassigned to the process creator, who works on it and resubmits it for review.
    My questions are as follows:
1- I'm thinking of using a Send Email service to send a short, very specific message, but I don't know how to capture the process creator's email address to use in this service. Would you any other way of doing this?
2- I can't figure out what service to use to save the PDF and to display it for the reviewer to copy data manually into another application.
I'm still new at this and find the available information a little cryptic. I probably don't know where to find it too. I'd appreciate any help that you can provide.
    Thank you!

We are using JBoss but MSSQL, not MySQL.
I also decided to change the process slightly to avoid unnecessary steps and, perhaps, this query step altogether.
So this is what I have so far: A Set Value task to fill the form, and an Assign User to assign the form for review. Upon acceptance by the Reviewer, the form should be saved and/or printed, as selected by the Reviewer. Upon reject, it should be reassigned to the Process Creator for correction/completion. When this is done, the form should be resubmitted for review.
The form is filled, but the Reviewer gets nothing in his queue (To Do list), even thought he's assigned in the process. The email notifications are not working correctly yet, but it should still be assigned to the Reviewer, correct? He's the Specific User in the Initial User Selection property.
I'd appreciate any help that you can provide.
    Thanks!

  • Changed my Apple User Name (email address) and home sharing no longer works?, Changed my Apple User Name (email address) and home sharing no longer works?

I've had the 2nd generation Apple TV since this past October when it was released and it has worked fine until I recently changed my Apple User Name (email address). After changing my user name my Apple TV and iPhone 4 no longer find my shared network. Home sharing is enabled on all devices, including my Sony Vaio Laptop, iPhone4, and Apple TV 2nd generation. Everything else has remained constant, including service provider, router, modem, and internet security (Trend Micro). Also, my library is on a networked hard drive, which didnt seem to make a difference before, but I figured I'd mention it. Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

    Winston,
Thank you for the information.  He confirmed that the ID and password are the same on every device.  This only started happending when he changed his User Name with Apple.
--Itunes is running on a Windows Vista Machine (Sony Vaio)
--He has an Apple TV (2nd Gen)
    --He has an iPhone 4
Can you tell me more about the technologies that apple uses to make "homesharing" work?  Do you think he may need to remove then re-install Bonjour?
