Remotely create sites from a non IIS server

Hi!
I'm creating some scripts to create websites to different web servers, but I'm standing in a non IIS server. So, I wanted to install the powershell snap-in for IIS administration, but I read that from Windows R2 it's a module, and can only be accessed from
an IIS server.
So, my question goes to, if I can't install the snap-in anymore because I'm working with R2 servers, can I create some local script that creates all my sites, and then just invoke it from my non IIS server? Or that is not going to work?

You can install windows features (windows server 2008) using this:
Import-Module ServerManager
Get-WindowsFeature
Add-WindowsFeature FeatureName
Unfortunately IIS cmdlets don't have -ComputerName parameter and you cannot manage a remote server.
In powershell 3 you can use remote modules (remooting should be enabled on the remote server - see
man about_Remote_Requirements):
$servername="Server1"
$session=New-PSSession -ComputerName $servername -Credential (Get-Credential -Message "Enter your credential to access $servername")
Import-Module WebAdministration -PSSession $session
get-website # will be ran on remote server

I have created Exchange Transport that whose configuration looks like this:

Exchange is the Name of System and Alias name is myExchange.

Problem with creating site from another computer!

I have WebDB 2.2 and Oracle8i instaled on the same computer. I have a problem to create site from another computer. There is not any process when I try to create site. There is always 0%.
But I have no problem with creating site on the origin computer.
Does anybody know something about it?

I am just not clear what to do once I have made changes and have published the new information.
You shouldn't have to do anything. iWeb will save the information in the Domain.sites file. You can keep this file in a folder, or even on your desktop and iWeb will launch from a double-click on the file.

You need to perform an OSDB migration.
This will involve exporting your SAP system into a DB neutral format and then reloading this into an SQL 2005 SAP system.

Composed looks / Change the look themes are missing when creating site from saved template

Hi,
I found an issue when save you own site template and then want to create a new site from that template the "Change the Look" themes are missing and if you go to site settings, Comosed looks where the themes are stored is empty! Anyone else has
the same experience? Any workaround for this?

I've just seen this exact problem on a SharePoint 2013 farm as well this morning, but have managed to fix the blank "Composed Looks" list issue, although am still working on the "Change the look" wizard pages.
Edit: found a fix for this too now. See my next post below.
It appears that the process of saving a site as a template and then creating a new site from that template causes the original XsltListViewWebPart used to display the default view of the "Composed Looks" list, to be replaced with a ListViewWebPart,
which appears to be broken.
Edit: have also seen this behaviour on sites created from the built-in templates but haven't determined exactly whether this is a bug. ULS logs never show any errors when this occurs so it appears to be "by-design". Ugh.
There may be a tidier way to fix this, but for now, I used SharePoint Designer 2013 to copy an XsltListViewWebPart from a working "Composed Looks" list, AllItems.aspx page and replaced the ListViewWebPart in the broken Composed Looks list, AllItems.aspx
page with it. There is also some additional post copy-paste tidy up to do on the pasted-in XsltListViewWebPart HTML to get it to work within the context of the site it is now in as it will contain GUIDs and URLs that are only relevant within the site
that you copied it from and these need to be replaced with the GUIDs/URLs from the replaced ListViewWebPart - paste it in a notepad session before deleting/overwriting it so you can grab those bits.
I'll write a more detailed step-by-step if anyone wants it, but this doesn't seem to fix the broken "Change the Look" wizard still, only the "Composed Looks" list default view. I'll look into that now and post back more complete solution if I can
find a fix.
Edit: Found a fix. see my next post below.
Edit Edit: One more thing - on some Composed Looks lists we are seeing empty lists once the default view webPart is fixed up. To correct this, you can copy selected Composed Looks from a working site with a full set.
Before you do that, edit the default view in both the source and destination Composed Looks lists and include the Title field as it is a required field.
Then, you can use Datasheet View (just click the edit list link to put it in Datasheet View mode) to bulk copy/paste Composed Looks between the source and destination lists.
Do a little post-paste tidy up on the URLs as above to make sure that they are correct for their new location and then click on over to your Change the Look wizard.
You should see all of your Composed Looks displayed nicely on the page.
Note that the Current Look might not represent the sites actual appearance as it's settings will reflect the source sites appearance, but you can tweak it with the Wizard now.

Can I remotely failover clusters with powershell from a non clustered server? Windows Server 2008 R2

I'm trying to remotely administer my windows clusters and fail them over with a PowerShell Script. The server I'm using is not a clustered server. I've already installed the Failover Clustering Tools. I'm able to retrieve information about
my clusters but when I try to fail them over I receive an error saying "The cluster service is not running."
The command I'm using is 'Get-ClusterNode $Server | Get-ClusterGroup | Move-ClusterGroup'
Error message: 'Get-ClusterNode : The cluster service is not running. Make sure that the service is running on all nodes in the cluster'
Is there a way to install the cluster service or is there a different way to go around this error?

To get cluster node information, please try to use the cmd cluster.exe, like:
cluster.exe node NodeName /force

Create image from byte[]array on server side

Hello everyone..
I'm developing an application which will take snapshots from a mobile device, and send it to my pc via bluetooth. I have my own midlet which uses the phone camera to take the snapshot, i want to transfer that snapshot to my pc.
The snapshot is taken is stored in an array byte.
The image can be created on the phone itself with no problem using : image.createImage(byte[])
my problem is that when i send the array byte via bluetooth, and receive it on the server, i cannot create the image using the :image.createImage() code
The connection is good since i have tested by writing the content of the array in a text file.
Piece of midlet code:

Moving a web site from tomcat to IIS or apache

Hi,
I am writing a web application using the jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3 web server. I am using the servlets, jsp and the web.xml file.
Now I want to put the site in a hosting company in order to connect the site to the world. The hosting companies use IIS web server or apache server. Will they know to work with my application? will they know to read the web.xml file?
In case I install my application on another web server do I just move my folder as it is to the other web server?

I don't know about IIS, but with Apache you have to have Tomcat installed aswell.
Tomcat is Apache's Servlet server.
You best bet is to ask each hosting company if they support Servlets, if they do then just plonk the .war in the www root, and it should work, unless your hosting company tells you otherwise.

Tour code seems fine, so I would investigate on security issue.
Try yo attach the Web ADI to Global Super HRMS Manager (or any unrestricted responsibility) and check if it's working from there.

How to retrieve/gather images from a non-ZEN server?

Our main ZENworks server is 4.01 and it's running out of space for
images. We have an OES server that I'd like to use to push & pull images.
I looked at the Security tab / Upload restrictions in the Server Policy
and thought I might be able to define exactly where images can be stored
but haven't made any changes yet. Any ideas on how I can make this work?

yes.. the imgserv.nlm does access the harddrive via connection 0... it is
not able to authenticate..
and honestly why would you want to pull an image from another server
causing double amount of traffic..
you only need to install the imgserv on the other server and reference him
in your scripts... the old one can do the pxe stuff..

Creating user from template in powershell - Server 2012 R2

I've been research online how to create a user from a template in powershell and so far can't get it to work. Here is what I'm using:
$instance = Get-ADUser –identity template_user
New-ADUser –SamAccountName Test_Scripts –Instance $instance –Name “Test Scripts” –Enabled:$false
I'm getting an error saying the operation failed because UPN value is not unique. This is a very strange error to me, because it is saying that about the "-Instance" account. But of course that one isn't unique. That's the template.
If I remove "-Instance $instance" from the code, it works just fine and creates the account, just not from a template, obviously.
Any ideas? Below is the entire pasted error.

Log forwarding from a non-domain server certificate types

I'm trying to set up a source initiated subscription (Log forwarding) where the event source server is not in the same domain as the event collector server. I'm following these steps:

The collector computer should have a server authentication certificate (certificate with a server authentication purpose) in a
local computer certificate store.
And
The source machine should have a client authentication certificate (certificate with a client authentication purpose) in a

I'm looking to use a third party certificate authority to get the 2 above client and server certs. My question is what type of certificates will I need for this to work? As there seem to be a lot of types and I am new to certs.

You can just request certificates from Computer Certificate Template. Certificate issued from Computer Certificate Template can be used for both Client and Server authentication.

Open Data Set Error while trying to read file from non SAP server

is it possible to read data from non-SAP application Sever?
I'm using OPEN DATASET p_filin FOR INPUT IN LEGACY TEXT MODE CODE PAGE '1504',
Where p_filin is other Windows server.Our applicition server is under Unix.Is it a problem?
I make test to read file from SAP application server and it was ok.So how to call other server?

Yes it is possible to read data from a non SAP server through the statement OPEN DATASET.
The important thing to check is that the SAP Server got enough access to the non SAP server so it can perform a reading/writing process depending on your needs.
You should contact your network administrator and BASIS to help you check the permissions. This can be pretty tricky, specially if the servers are in different domains.

Several Netpoint Site on same IIS server

Anyone knows of the best way to have several Netpoint site on the same IIS Server.
So far I have installed 2 Netpoint sites on the same server in two different IIS Web Site (2 different TCP/IP ports, 80 and 81) one in production and one for testing. Each site uses its own Netpoint database defined in the web.config file. So far both sites work very well with their own database (only one syncs with netpoint and that is what we want) I did not experiment with EMAILS so I dont know if the messaging service is able to attach to both databases/site.
Does someone know how the messaging service selects the Netpoint database to use ?
Will messaging work with both sites ?

After speaking with the developers it appears this is possible in Netpoint 5.9.
You can manually edit the NPMessagingConfig.xml file to contain multiple entries and the messaging service will read each one when it executes.
Each "website=value" must be unique.

Newbie, How Do you transfer a site from Remote Host to Local Web Server

already exists to my local IIS server. I cannot figure it
out. I keep going in circles with Manage Sites, creating the folder
in the Inetpub/wwwroot folder and I need some help to get the whole
site locally so I can work on it. I use to use Frontpage but my
developers cannot stand the extra code it puts in and it's not
google friendly. So I decided to use Dreamweaver to create and
manage my sites.
