Removal of record from Cube

Hi all -
My group is working in BW 3.5 and have loaded an infocube.  Is it possible to remove one record from the cube without reloading everything?  We need the entire record gone, not just a delta to reverse it.  I should mention that this should be an automated process and not a quick manual correction.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
To do this from the cube (manually) please see:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4e/b71038cba6a169e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm
Using the DELETE_FACTS, you can do the same as above, but the system will generate a program. The program can be made a part of the process chain, thus automating this job. But you need to see how 'variable' the selections are and if they can be incorporated into the program...if you need to delete just one record, then I guess you need to be extremely careful and specific with the deletion selections.
Hope this helps...

  • How to Remove a record from PER_ALL_PEOPLE_F

    Dear All,
I want to remove a record from per_all_people_f, the employee record exist in the table but not shown on the people screen. Do I need to use any API for that or simple SQL command?
    Please help asap.
    Regard.

    Hi,
What responsibility have you logged in as ?
Is the security profile attached to that responsibility properly defined so that all employees can be viewed ?
Does the record in the table show an end-date of 31-dec-4712 ?
If the data in the table is fine, then it has to be an issue with security of the responsibility.
    Cheers,

  • Delete overlapping/duplicate records from cube

    Hi All,
Kindly let me know how to delete overlapping requests from a cube. Actually the cube is getting loaded from varuous infosources, but there are records which get duplicated and the are not wanted , then hiow to delete the duplicate records from the cube.
    Regards,
    dola

I think what arun is perfectly right....
use DSO for consolidation of various requests..from diferenet infosources...
Now load from DSO to cube...and it is very much possible...though will require little work.
Delete duplicate records option is usually used for master data. With transacdtion data i don't think its advisable.

  • UDF - Removing Header Record from File

    Hi Team,
In my file(File Content Conversion) to ABAP server proxy scenario...
The source File structure is like this...
KUNNR|Matnr|Description----->(This is Hearder Record. Each File contains this header record.)
    1001|0077321|Special Materials
    1002|0077323|Raw Material
File adapter will picks the file , In Message Mapping The first record is the Header Record from the above file structure. So I need to remove the Header Record.
Can we handle  this requirement with any FCC parameter ;I think we can do it with the help of UDF in MessageMapping?
Can anybody ghelp me the sample code for this.
    Thanks.
    Drumi

    Hi,
You can use Document Offset in FCC to  specify the number of lines that are to be ignored at the beginning of the document.

  • Remove ipv6 records from SSRS report

    Hi
I have report which chows Computer name, user, MAC and IP
Some report lines include one Computer with both ipv4 and ipv6.
How to remove that ipv6 part?
    Adding
    AND v_gs_network_adapter_configuration.IPAddress0 NOT LIKE
    'fe80%'
    did not helped
    because IPAddress0 value is 10.10.10.10,fe80::....
I also can't use '%fe80%' because it will remove that Computer at all from that report

    From other case:
    Clean ipv6
BTW, I would never use this one dbo.v_RA_System_IPAddresses as IMO it is unreliable, use
    dbo.v_GS_NETWORK_ADAPTER_CONFIGUR instead.

There is nothing wrong with your code it removes the lastline, if there is no carriage return on it.
If your input file is like:
       line1 <cr><lf>
               line2 <cr><lf>
               line3
    The result is:
               line1 <cr><lf>
               line2 <cr><lf>
But if your input file is like:
                 line1 <cr><lf>
                  line2 <cr><lf>
                  line3 <cr><if>
    The result is:
                 line1<cr><lf>
                 line2<cr><lf>
                <empty line>
So when you have a carriage return on the last line, it results in an empty line, can this be the cause of your problem?

  • Removing Duplicate records from this result set

Here is a challenge question that I was playing with one my free time during work.
I assume that you have the HR sample database somewhere around (hopefully not in production).
Let us say that you want to get employees from the employees table whose last name is similar to some other employee last name.
The easiest way is to join the two tables with a join condition that checks for the last name and the employee id. Here is what I came up with.
    select e1.last_name a , e1.first_name b, e2.last_name c, e2.first_name d
from employees e1 join employees e2
    on ( e1.last_name = e2.last_name and e1.employee_id <> e2.employee_id)
    order by a;
The above query returns 10 rows. The first and second are essentially the same. The same applies of 3&4, 5&6, 7&8, and 9&10. The question is: is there any way that allow me to get rid of the duplicate rows using sql only from the result set of this query. I sat on it for 15 minutes and I could not figure it out. I will try looking at again after my work is over.

    Example:
    SQL> column a format a10
    SQL> column b format a10
    SQL> column c format a10
    SQL> column d format a10
    SQL>
    SQL>
    SQL> select e1.last_name a , e1.first_name b, e2.last_name c, e2.first_name d
      2  from employees e1 join employees e2
      3  on ( e1.last_name = e2.last_name and e1.employee_id != e2.employee_id)
      4  where e1.employee_id < e2.employee_id
      5  order by a;
    A          B          C          D
    Cambrault  Gerald     Cambrault  Nanette
    Grant      Kimberely  Grant      Douglas
    King       Steven     King       Janette
    Smith      Lindsey    Smith      William

  • Delete blank records from the cube

    Hello;
We just upgraded from 3.5 to 7.0.  When we started running our queries for the Inventory cube, we were getting an error message of "Error:  The validity interval has the initial value as lower limit".
When I checked the cube, I found records that were blank, such as no dates, plants, etc..  I then tried to see if I can delete those records, but I cannot find a way to do this.  Can someone tell me how to delete the blank records or any records from the cube directly?  When I run the queries from the ODS, I do not get any errors at this time.
Any information, suggestions or HELP is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Maximina Barry

    Hello Maximina,
You could try writing in some code that would delete the records which have some fields as blank in the start routine of the transformation that connects the ODS to the cube . So that the next time you load data from the ODS to the cube .. they would stay deleted .
    Hope it helps.
    Just to add ...

  • Help reg: Removing sel records in af:table and to prevent it from Commit

I have a af:table in a page with some records. The table is editable and the records in the table are fetched from the DB. Now, I edit some of the records in the table.
I would now like to delete one of the edited records.
The delete action listener method should remove the record from the table and when I click save on the page (to save the other edited records), the removed record should not get committed to the database. At the same time, the removed record (from the table) should not get deleted from the database either.
Can someone suggest on how can i achieve this?
I use a delete action listener method to remove the record from the table in the UI but not sure how to prevent the removed record from getting committed (since its been modified).
    Thanks
    Sreekanth Vijay

If you remove a row with the delete method, the row will be deleted from the db if you don't change the eo behavior.
You can, as mentioned in the last post, use the remove from collection to remove three row from the current repeat without removing it from the db. To get three row back you have to execute the query again.

  • ADF UIX - Deleting records from expert-query view

    Hi gang
Does anybody have any suggestions how to do this?
I'll use the HR schema as an example.
We have default EOs defined against the departments and employees tables. Those familiar with the HR schema know there is fk between departments and employees, as well as employees to itself (eg. employees to managers).
We have created a complex VO, with a hierarchical join between employee records, as well as a join to the departments table. To create such a complex VO we have no choice but to create the VO with an "expert-query" as the standard wizard doesn't support hierarchical joins.
One important fact to note that in the VO create wizard, when you use an "expert-query" you do not select the entities used by the VO; you go straight to the query page and enter the "expert-query". As such no EOs are defined against this type of complex VO.
The VO output looks something like the following:
    Department Level Employee
    Finance    1     Alexandar Hunold
    Finance    2     Bruce Ernst
    Finance    2     David Austin
    Finance    2     Valli Patabella
    Purchasing 1     Den Rapaely
Purchasing 2     Alexandar Khoo....and so on.
We have created a UIX web page displaying this VO as a read-only-table.
We wish to provide a delete button such that when the user selects a record, we may delete that employee AND all relating employees in a "cascade-delete" fashion. Note that we don’t wish to delete the associated department.
In implementing this delete button the delete functionality works correctly in the UIX web page by removing the record from the UIX table (assume I've also commited my changes). However a forced requery of the VO shows that the record hasn't really been deleted. I assume this is because the complex VO has no explicitly stated underlying EOs.
Does somebody have a suggestion on how I can catch the delete operation on the VO, and tell my application to instead delete a particular employee and perform a cascading delete on all other employees?
Should I create a custom method in the VO row class, to perform the deletes on the database? Or can I force the VO to perform a cascade delete on the employees EO? I just don't know what to do.....?
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    My environment is JDev 9.0.5.2.
    Thanks!
    CM.

I came across the help topic in JDeveloper 'Making an Association into a Composition' that talks about modifying an association to trigger cascade-delete. Does this help ?

  • Number of records in cube from Query Designer

I don't have access to the cube in BW(listschema). I only have access to pull reports from cube from Query Designer. How can I tell the total number of records in a cube?
    Thanks.

    Hi
you can use the tech content in the query designer to display the count for no of records or you can do the same via creating a new CKF
or see the below link to display the count

  • Getting duplicate records in cube from each data packet.

    Hi Guys,
I am using 3.x BI version. I am getting duplicate records in cube. for deleting these duplicate records i have written code. still it is giving same result. Actually i have written a start routine for deleting duplicate records.
These duplication is occurring depending on the number of packets.
Eg: If the number of packets are 2 then it is giving me 2 duplicate records.
If the number of packets are 7 then it is giving me 7 duplicate records.
How can i modify my code so that it can fetch only one record by eliminating duplicate records? Or any other solution is welcomed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi  Andreas, Mayank.
      Thanks for your reply.
I created my own DSO, but its giving error. And I tried with the stanadard DSO too. Still its giving the same error as could not activate.
In error its giving a name of function module RSB1_OLTPSOURCE_GENERATE.
I searched in R3 but could not get that one.
Even I tried creating DSO for trial basis, they are also giving the same problem.
I think its the problem from BASIS side.
Please help if you have any idea.
    Thanks.
