Remove language from 'set language' portlet

Hello
We installed 4 languages with our portal. In one page group I did the translation for 3 of the 4 languages.
Now, if I add the 'set language' portlet to one of the portal pages of that page group, all the 4 languages (not only the 3 of the translations!) were shown.
How can I get the 'set language' portlet only to show the 3 translated languages?

you should use the ConfigTool to edit the UME property ume.admin.wd.locales as described here

Remember to restart the Java AS afterwards.

Splitting a document by bookmark removes the reading setting language in the file properties

I have created a tagged document and set the reading option language to English and it passes a full accessibility check. I also want to post the individual chapters so I have split my document by bookmarks. All of the tagging and reading order is retained but the language setting is blank and the individual files fail the accessiblity check. The whole project creates 176 smaller files so resetting the language for each is not an ideal solution.

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I don't think there is any way to make the default language for the created files.
You can create a Fix Up that Sets the Language and then Make an Action that will run that Fix Up on all the files in a folder. Fixups are in the Preflight dialog.
I was able to do it in less thant 10 minutes using these instructions -- and what I already knew about creating an Action.

Original language to another language

Please let me know how to change a WDA Applications Language, from Original language to another language.I would like to change the standard program language when i copy it as a "Z' program.

Hi Raju,
when you open the WD4A component in SE80 (and select the "Web-Dynpro-Applications" node at the tree view in the left menu) and hit the edit button in the toolbar (the button with the pen and the glasses), then - if the language of the application is another language than yours from GUI logon - the system asks you if you want to change it.
Otherwise, if you just want to change the language that is used to display in Internet Explorer, you can change the "sap-language=<LANGUAGE>" option in the URI of the application, where <LANGUAGE> is the 2-character abbrevation.

Set language without language portlet

Hello,
I want to force the language to dutch for all of our users, but don't want them to choose this language on the language portlet or to change the language settings in their browsers.
Jerry Silver suggested in Setting language for a group the use of patch 2948019.
This patch installs wwctx_api.set_nls_language
In portal 9.0.4 WWCTX_API.SET_NLS_LANGUAGE is available, but it says:
Note:</b> This API can only be used for portal sessions that
* have been created via SQL*Plus. It is not intended to be used in browser
* sessions for setting the NLS language and territory.
* The Set Language portlet should be used in that case.
Does someone knows a way to force the language to be different from US-English?

In either case the language has to be selected on the Mac go to the SystemPreference and language and text and select arabic as the language etc.
That should do it.
Oh, yes just in case you have to also select and arabic type face and it helps if you have a ME computer.

How to set selected Language from Portal dropdown in Logon to User profile

I select a language in Portal Language dropdown in the Logon Page.
After login in the content is getting displayed in the browser language.
I want the portal content to be displayed in the selected language in the portal LogonPage.

The language that the portal is displayed in depends on the following
heirarchy, with the languages at the top of the list taking precedence
over those at the bottom:
1. Component (iview) language (defined in the portalapp.xml)
2. Portal Mandatory language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
3. User language (defined in the user#s profile).
4. Request language (defined by the browser).
5. Portal Default language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
6. System Default language (default locale defined by the OS).
So for example, if you have your portal user language (as in point 3)
set to Russian, but the language of the iView that is the logon page
(as in point 1) set to English, that logon page will be displayed in
English.
Keeping the above in mind, please make the necessary changes to the
configurations and check if it helps.

In HTML, look up the regexp lib, load the HTML file, then use something like

Using Set Language portlet

i managed to use the Set Language Portlet well, however, when i click the set language portlet the following Action is called http://address:7777/orasso/orasso.wwctx_app_language
my client is not happy about opening port 7777, how can we instruct the Portel to use a different port

- What version of portal are you using
- Are you searching with Oracle Text turned on or off
- What are you searching for (i.e. items, pages etc)
- Are the things you are searching for translated
- Is the page group translated
etc.

Hi,
I've read some thread so far concerning "Personalization" and "how to remote unused languages" but most (all?) of them are now outdated.

Please check your link, it's the same answer for 04 and 04s : outdated.
It seems that SAP made some changes since a few release.
Now it's a WebDynpro Page which manages the personalization for user preferences and there's a Webdynpro Java involved in the process : UmeEnduserPortalApp.
Does anyone has the possibility to read from the application source code what's the method used now to make the language list for the end user ?

How to prevent LPRemove from deleting language packs?

Hi,
I have a problem with Windows 8.1 MUI deployment - unused language packs are disappearing after few days (weeks maybe).
As far as i know there is a task "LPRemove" in "scheduled tasks" but i don't know how it works.
I found this link:

"In Windows 8, the language pack removal runs on all Windows editions. However, any languages that are selected by users in the language preferences section of the control panel are not removed. Users can choose to run multiple languages and any language

In my enviroment I'd like to install all language packs used in company but set only one by user GPO settings. When someone from other country will logon to computer his GPO will be set and he will get his own language. But this situation may occur only once
a year (for example). As far as understand the note language pack will be deleted earlier.
So... Can I safely disable / remove this task from scheduled tasks? Or this is a bug or I'm do it in wrong way?

Hi Michal,
What's your edition of Windows? Windows 8 Single Language editions can only run a single language.
If you are using non-single language edition, according to the library article "Also, any language pack that is installed by a user is not removed.", after deployment, you also need to install it by yourself with the injected language pack.
In addition, you could disable or delete that task.

How to set language in SMS editor ?

Hi, I use Nokia C-50. Since some time I cannot write SMS messages, because strange letters appear in SMS editor. Options -> Text language show me that Cestina language ist set. This is the first from the choice. When I set any other language like English or my Polish press OK and return to the editor I can write one letter and after it the editor switches back to Cestina language. How can I set the proper language permanently ?

Hi JudaZ, thank you for your answere. I was trying to identify my mobile phone. It seems to be E52 . I tried many times, but I couldnt find the menu entries you suggested to choose. In editor options i only have the following entries:
    "add the receiver",
   "put in (template)",
   "sending options",
   "message details",
   "text language",
   "help",
   "leave" .
This is my free translation from polish. Under "sending options" I have the following:
                ->SMSC Centernet,
   "Keys codings"->"full or limited service",
   "receiving reports"->"no",
   "how long the message is valid"->"24h",
   "message send as"->"text"
   "answere by the centr." -> "no"
I tried each entry. Nothins has helped. The language is Cestina all the time !

Multi Language Character sets

Does anyone know if the oracle odbc drivers support multi language character sets?
I am trying to retrieve Chinese (prc) characters from the database (it is stored correctly and I have the Microsoft Multilanguage service pack installed). Odbc won't retrieve them correctly (actually stops after 1 row).
If I use the OLE DB driver, it does retrieve them. Is there a converter inside the OLE DB driver that ODBC doesn't have or is there a setting I'm missing? (The tool I want to use this with does not recognize OLE DB, is there a way top make it use oledb but defining an odbc connection??)

The version number you're providing doesn't seem to make any sense to me. Oracle's ODBC drivers are versioned to match the version of the Oracle client they work with, i.e. 8.1.7.8 is the latest Oracle ODBC driver for the 8.1.7 Oracle client. In the Oracle 7 days, there was a 2.5x series of Oracle ODBC drivers. So far as I'm aware, there's never been a 4.x series of Oracle ODBC drivers.
AMERICAN_AMERICAN.UTF8 would be the option I'd tend to prefer on the client, particularly if you'll be working with more than just Chinese data (i.e. English & Chinese). I'm not sure what AMERICAN_AMERICAN.<some Chinese character set> would end up doing. There's a lot of info out there about NLS settings (including an NLS discussion forum) that might be helpful to you.
What OLE DB provider are you using that works?

Project Settings - Language - limited set in RH 7?

Hello, I bought RoboHelp 7 for the Unicode language support.
It is working fine in that regard - I am building JavaHelp systems
now for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Turkish,
Russian, Chinese, and Japanese. However, I cannot set all of these
languages from the Project Settings dialog. I thought that the
Index sorting and Search sorting was dependent on the Language
Setting. Is that not true? I know that the JavaHelp search database
is built during RoboHelp's JavaHelp compile.
Product: Adobe RoboHelp 7 (update 7.0.1 not yet installed)
OS: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2

The Project Setting dialog box only defines the language of
the open RH project in RH Explorer. It has nothing to do with the
index or full text search in the compiled help files.
What you may be looking for are the Help Compiler options.
Search for ".hpj" or "About compiler option" in the RH online Help
Search tab. Also, look under "OPTIONS section". Here it says:
"LANGUAGE Specifies a different sorting order for Help files
authored in a Scandinavian language."
To my understanding, however, the "LANGUAGE" is obsolete and
has been replaced by the LCID option. The LCID option defines the
sorting order of index and full text search lists in WinHelp output
files, not only for Scandinavian languages but for all supported
languages, i.e. also Asian languages. The respective code page or
language name has to be entered here. You can run the HCW.exe
compiler to edit the sections in .hpj file but you can also edit it
using a simple text editer such as Notepad.
I do not know if all this applies to the FTS in Java Help,
which I think has its own full text search engine (Sun Java 2 SDK),
but it may be of help for the index sorting.
