Remove OC4J_Demos and home

Hi, all:
Is it possible to remove OC4J_Demos and/or home components?
I have encountered the big problem that the repository is not in
sync with the local config and was not allowed to updateconfig.
If I try to resync with the repository the I got the following
errors:
ADMN-906025
The exception, 300152, occurred at Oracle9iAS instance "9iasr2.tcistap1.jazz.att.com"
"Deployment adapter resync failed for application: Application name: sqljdemos Target: Oracle Home: /cni1/oracle9ias/product/oracle OC4J component: OC4J_Demos Error message: Nested exception
Root Cause: Syntax error in source
Application name: ojspdemos Target: Oracle Home: /cni1/oracle9ias/product/oracle OC4J component: OC4J_Demos Error message: Nested exception

Application name: BC4JJSPDemo Target: Oracle Home: /cni1/oracle9ias/product/oracle OC4J component: OC4J_Demos Error message: Nested exception

. See log for more info.".
Resolve the indicated problem at the Oracle9iAS instance where it occurred then resync the instance
I cannot reinstall now but I need to get it out asap. It is just like a never-ending loop.
This insync stuff also blocks the em to work.
Please help!

hello,
SQLPLUS is looking for the OH, if not null, to find home path for Oracle DB10G, and the oc4j wants OH give it the path for <oc4j_home>, but if you modify lightly the oc4j.cmd which is under <oc4j_home>\bin you can specify the value for J2EE_HOME instead of use OH\j2ee\home, but you can't delete the OH value because of the script is looking for its existence even if you have specify the path for JH, so the latest things to do is to set OH to the value looking for by SQLPLUS (which is for me <oracle_install>\ora92 ), now SQLPLUS use the OH (it don't really need it but you can't delete it) and the oc4j run without problem because of it find it path and don't send alert while OH is not null.
It's not really the good solution but it's really esay to do and you don't have to modify your installation

  • [Solved] Organize the /etc/ /opt/ and /home w/o breaking anything?

+ What are the common organizing tactics that you use?
For example, if you're going to install anything, where do you put it, how do you do it with out breaking anything, etc.
My /etc/ /opt/ and /home folders are getting out of hand.
For my home folder, I have:
Desktop, Downloads, Dropbox (the only ones that I want here), meteor, node, nvm, nplay, pkg, python2-psutil, python26, src, sublime-text-2, try-meteor, packer (file), pacman.conf (file), and dead.letter (file).

    For my /opt/ I have:
    android-sdk, dropbox, and tor-browser-en.
This doesn't bother me, but I can see that somewhere in the future where it can get cluttered.
I also have created a folder on my root called ptmp and am using it to store my packertmp-0 files since my tmp folder gave me an error. I want to do things right and not get that cluttered too. So if you know about this check the thread out here
As a new Arch Linux user, coming from Windows 8, everything is great except a few minor annoyances. I give it an 7.8/10 for bring stable.
I will open up new threads for the following, but here are the few minor annoyances I still have:
If I edit what show up on my main menu (with main menu, not menu editor [from gnome]), somehow things get re-highlighted as if I clicked restore to defaults-- so I can't edit what I don't want to show up in my main menu anymore.
I forgot what file I edited that I made Chromium run at startup and now it slows things down by running at startup.
I couldn't exchange nautilus for dolphin (I like dophin better), and couldn't get xmonad going although I got the dependancies installed (Haskell, etc.). It throws me this error:

I can't remove the Universal access applet. I don't need it. This should be removable.
There is no longer a high performance, low performance, balanced option for battery consumption. This should make a comeback.
I somehow edited my information of my user and it's not editable through system settigns. It shows my company, phone number, etc. I manually entered a command that I forgot in the terminal that did this. I'm not sure. This should be easily editable in Gnome 3. I don't know why it isn't.
I've created a news user and don't know how to delete it.
I couldn't get mp3tag to work with packer because it didn't have a PKGFILE. Will be trying to manually make it some time later, but it should be fixed in the AUR.
I would like to uninstall the Epiphany Browser. Desktop Search, Power Statistics but don't know how. I know it's -Rns.
Sublime Text 2 doesn't show up as a desktop item in the applications folder, I have to go to the folder and click sublime_text to launch it.
When I change YouTube to anything higher than 240p, it doesn't play and I have to refresh it.
Grub-sustomizer should come installed with Gnome, especially for those that want to dual boot Android OS (x86) or anyhting else. In fact, in the installation guide there should be a warning that if you plan to install another OS like Android OS (x86) you should partition an extra 16 GB as ext3, or if you want to install another Linux distro to partition an extra 20GB as ext4.
There isn't any multitouch gestures pre-installed that I can configure. I'll see if they even exist.
I haven't check but I'm not sure if there is a good screen capturing app.
Last, so I can switch all my friends to Arch, they've already taken an interest an I plan to do a blog post about it once I feel confident, how can I customize this scrip to install the apps I already have installed?
I'll get to posting these in seperate threads right now.

Ohhh man, you're making me nervous! Are you copying your files around your operating system yourself?
jjshinobi wrote:What are the common organizing tactics that you use?
The answer to your question is, I don't organize anything. Instead, pacman keeps track of all the files.
The only files you should need to worry about are what's in "/home". You can organize that however you want. If you have many ebooks, create a directory called "Books". Whatever.
Your story kind of reminds me of my roommate in college. As soon as he finished installing Windows XP, he would go through the entire directory structure and delete anything that was "unnecessary". It kind of scared me.
But fortunately, we don't have to do that with Arch Linux. Pacman takes care of everything, and it's super easy to create your own package.

  • "Extra" Internal Hard Drives won't mount - swap, /, and /home work.

    Hello All,
*** I'm updating my post finally. Sorry it's so long, I'm not entirely sure what is and isn't relevant.
*** Also I think it's a mix up with RAID causing the issue, as I'll address below, but in case I'm wrong I wanted to include the other information that came to mind before I noticed the RAID issue (because the RAID issue doesn't make a lot of sense to me).
First off, I'm running Arch64 and KDE4 with my system up to date. Also I have Gamin installed and not FAM. I use ReiserFS on all of my partitions and drives.
I have six hard drives in my computer, all of which are SATA drives. One is a WD 150GB Raptor with my swap, /, and /home partitions on it, the other five are for extra storage on what I call my media-server (they mount to /media/media-server/1 ,2 ,and so on). They only have one partition each. Of those five the first (/media/media-server/1) is a WD 1TB drive, the other four are WD 500GB drives of identical model.
All of the Raptor's patitions, swap, /, and /home mount just fine.
On top of that the 1TB drive mounts just fine. But the four 500GB drives will not mount at all. They show up in Dolphin, Disk Utility, KwikDisk, KDiskFree, and Partition Manager. However, their size is not shown and/or marked N/A, except in Partition Manager, where their size is shown. They are not seen by 'df'.
    Output from 'df':
    df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    udev 10M 308K 9.7M 4% /dev
    /dev/sda2 25G 7.7G 17G 32% /
    none 4.0G 0 4.0G 0% /dev/shm
    /dev/sda3 112G 90G 22G 81% /home
    /dev/sdb1 932G 919G 13G 99% /media/media-server/1
*** As for removable media, it's being a bit odd. When I first wrote this post removable media, specifically USB flash drives and SD media cards mounted fine. A while after that they'd show up in Device Notifier, but wouldn't mount. Just a little while ago they wouldn't show up in Device Notifier and wouldn't mount. Now they show up fine and mount fine again. This is possibly unrelated, I'm not sure.
Depending on what method I try to mount my hard drives I either get an 'only root can mount that' error or else a HAL drive busy or already mounted error, followed by a 'drive is not mounted' error when I use umount to double check.
*** Permissions are working better now , Dolphin isn't giving me the 'only root can mount' errors anymore. Still can't mount the drives though.
All of this output is from when the drives are listed in /etc/fstab:
    Konsole output:
    mount /dev/sdf1
mount: only root can mount /dev/sdf1 on /media/media-server/5
    sudo mount /dev/sdf1
mount: /dev/sdf1 already mounted or /media/media-server/5 busy
    umount /dev/sdf1
umount: /dev/sdf1 is not mounted (according to mtab)
    sudo umount /dev/sdf1
    umount: /dev/sdf1: not mounted
    Dolphin output:
An error occurred while accessing 'MediaServer5', the system responded: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied: Device /dev/sdf1 is listed in /etc/fstab. Refusing to mount.
Device Notifier output (pops up when I try to mount the drives in Dolphin):
org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied: Device /dev/sdf1 is listed in /etc/fstab. Refusing to mount.
    Partition Manager:
The file system on partition /dev/sdf1 could not be mounted.

I have tried listing (with the UUID method and the /dev method) and not listing the drives in /etc/fstab, and I have 'hal' and 'dbus' daemons in /etc/rc.conf (and I've tried using only the hal daemon and not the dbus in /etc/rc.conf). I've also tried not listing 'hal', 'dbus', and 'kdm' and only booting to terminal and then mounting the drives manually, that doesn't work either.

I attempted to add the other drives to /etc/mtab but they get overwritten upon a reboot. I've drived mounting the drives from konsole and dolphin.
All my drives used to work. At one point I had Chakra installed and had this issue after an update, however after thinking about it the problem may have actually started after the power flashed on and off here. I couldn't fix it so I installed Arch64 and KDE4 (the normal KDE from the Arch repos, not KDEMod) thinking maybe it was a Chakra specific issue. That fixed it at the time. It later happened on my Arch install. I reinstalled Arch again and the issue was gone. However the issue is back. Again I think it was after a power outage/flash but it was also after an update that included a kernel update. Best I can remember each time it's happened has been after a kernel update and power flash. So I can't say for sure which is the cause.
Oddly though if I boot from a live disc (in my case a Chakra Live DVD) I can mount and access all of the drives just fine.
Another oddity, is that in 'Disk Utility' (palimpsest) there is a 1.5TB RAID-5 array listed. The only thing I can figure is that that is what is making the individual drives busy.
Here's a screenshot from Disk Utility of the RAID-5 array:
    http://theavataroftime.com/sites/defaul … enshot.png
After talking to a friend I remembered that quite a while back (over a year) we had messed around trying to setup a RAID array and dual boot WindowsXP. However, we never could get it working quite right, not even just in Linux without dual booting. I really can't say what all we did/tried, it's been too long. I realize that's not much help but...
Anyway I'm pretty certain I deleted everything RAID related at the time and turned it off. However I must be mistaken or I guess the array wouldn't be showing up.
I apologize, I really know nothing about RAID or RAID controllers. I do have an onboard RAID controller, but it's not a full fledged hardware RAID controller. It's onboard, but doesn't have it's on proccessor like good hardware RAID would. Or that's the way I understand it. Perhaps 'hybrid' is the proper term?
I checked in BIOS and my onboard RAID controller is off.
I take it that my attempts at setting up a RAID array before are still in the MBR (on that note I use GRUB and have never used LILO)? That's the only place I can think of that any leftover RAID configurations wouldn't have been wiped during reinstalling and reformatting the drives and partitions? I've reformatted my drives completely and changed the size of swap, /, and /home on several occasions since then, as well as formatting the media-server drives to ReiserFS (not sure what FS I was using when trying to setup RAID before. Perhaps FAT32 since I was trying to dual boot).
I clicked the stop array button in Disk utility, and then all the options except start array went away. Then I clicked start, and instead of my four media-server drives being listed at the side of Dolphin there was one 1.4TB drive. I rebooted and now it's back to the 4 500GB media-server drives.
I'm worried about losing a bunch of data, so I'm hesitant to start experimenting. How should I go about getting rid of the remnants of the RAID array safely?
Also here's a screenshot of MediaServer5 from Disk Utility. The other 500GB drives have the same info minus the names and labels of course:
    http://theavataroftime.com/sites/defaul … enshot.png
*** I had forgotten about dmesg output. It's quite long so instead of copying it, here's a link to it:
    http://theavataroftime.com/sites/defaul … /dmesg.txt
Thanks for advice on the matter.

  • How to remove music and movies from ipod touch 5

Since recent update all music from itunes library has appeared on daughters ipot touch gen 5 and I cant get it off.  how do I remove it?

you can only transfer itunes purchases from the ipod to the pc. to get any other music (etc.) from your ipod by using third party software (there are many threads on this, use the search box or try googling 'ipod to computer')
you can also only delete 'Saved Photos' directly on the iPod. these are photos obtained on the iPod: by screenshot (press the sleep and home button at the same time), saving from email, or from safari (holding your finger on a picture while browsing the web will bring up an option to save it.
any other photos will need to be deleted during the sync process (i.e. deleted from the folder which you sync your photos from)

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all media and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • When I go to camera a black screen comes up. No camera or video. I removed cover and is tha same.

Camera app coming up black......worked fine until yesterday. Removed cover..did not change.

Quit the camera app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Comcast took over my firefox browser and home page, how do I get comcast out of my firefox

I moved to a new area and comcast installed the service here. The installation and set up of the modem asked me to install a toolbar and I opted out because I see no use in comcast services. Comcast installed some thing like malware that took over safari chrome and firefox where all of the home pages were converted to their site. Safari required being reset and chrome I removed and reinstalled. Firefox has been completely taken over, I have uninstalled it 3 times and tried safe mode and just about everything else. I spent 2 hours on the phone with comcast to no avail and my feeling on it is that firefox is the most popular browser and comcast wants part of that so they have developed their own little malware to get in on firefox. What can I do as customer or user of firefox to get rid of comcast and their browser and home page and get back to what I am comfortable with which is firefox and my npr home page.

Sorry, if resetting your homepage in Firefox doesn't work or that change is only temporary until the next time you use your PC or restart it, you need to uninstall that Comcast Toolbar from your PC. I don't know how or where that Comcast Toolbar for Firefox is installed, so you'll need to figure that out yourself.
The first place to look is the Windows Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs, and it is there '''Remove''' it.
Second place is in the Firefox Add-ons Manager tab - '''{ Ctrl + Shft + A }''' - if you find it there, '''Uninstall''' it from Firefox.
If you are able to get rid of that Comcast Toolbar and still have problems with not being able to set your choice for a homepage, let us know. There are a couple of places that may have been messed with by that application, like a user.js file or the prefs.js file.
I'm a Comcast user, too, although I have had this cable service for over 10 years now, with the two previous owners of the franchise for this area before Comcast bought out AT&T Cable. All three companies recommended that I have their "software" installed and I refused it each time. I told them if it was "required", they could close my account, that I would go elsewhere.

  • How to properly remove e17 and all its dependencies?

    Hello,
I installed a while back e17 and would like to do some clean up...
Could someone confirm if all the below package (except notify-sharp-svn) are indeed e17 ones?
    [10:30:54][root@phusis]
[/home/lcoumetou]Arch64# pacman -Qe | grep svn

Is there an easy to remove e17 and all its dependencies or do I have to do it manually for each package?
    Thanks in advance

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Removing dotfiles in /home when installing over an Ubuntu partition

I'm getting ready to install Arch soon, but I thought of a slight issue:
I have an existing Ubuntu partition with separate / and /home partitions. The plan is to just install Arch on / and leave /home alone (hehe...home alone). But there are a lot of dotfiles and configurations
in my /home currently that I'm using for my applications in Ubuntu.
Obviously, when I install Arch, these applications will all get replaced, so I won't care about their config files. However, my /home will (theoretically) be untouched after the installation, but all the dotfiles from my Ubuntu apps will carry over.
I thought about just deleting *all* of the dotfiles in /home as soon as I boot into Arch for the first time, but I'm not sure if Arch generates its own dotfiles in /home, and I wouldn't want to accidentally delete those. If Arch doesn't generate any, then I think my problem's solved.
But if Arch does generate them, then is there a way to delete just my Ubuntu dotfiles that have carried over during installation?

Agreed with WW, but I'd say the best approach depends on your goal.
If you have a lot of 'dot-files' that won't be used with your arch programs, then I can understand the desire to do a good clean up - but it is not strictly necessary.
The only place where it would be necessary would be for programs for which the configuration has changed substantially between the version you had in ubuntoo and the current versions that arch will get you - this may lead to some programs failing to start.  In these cases though, the cause should be obvious.
If you want a good middle ground, you could backup all your dotfiles, remove them all, install arch as WW suggests (without the home partition mounted), then as you start using programs and realize "oh, crap, I wish I still had my ubuntoo config" then you can restore it from the backup and revise it as necessary for version changes.
Migrating my 'dotfiles' for vim, bash, and mutt are first thing I need to do when I get a fresh install - otherwise I keep running into things that just feel like they don't work right (they don't work how I'm used to).

  • How can I remove asm and ocr installation in AIX?

    Hi,
I try to install single instance with using ASM in AIX.
But I did not make successfully.
Now I want to remove ASM and OCR installation then
I will plan to make new clear installation.
How can I remove asm and ocr ??
Or How can I control my removing is fully correct ?

    1) ASM Instance Clean-Up Procedures
Stop all of the databases that use the ASM instance that is running from the Oracle home that is on the node that you are deleting.
On the node that you are deleting, if this is the Oracle home which from which the ASM instance runs, then remove the ASM configuration by completing the following steps. Run the command srvctl stop asm -n node_name for all of the nodes on which this Oracle home exists. Run the command srvctl remove asm -n node for all nodes on which this Oracle home exists. If there are databases on this node that use ASM, then use DBCA Disk Group Management to create an ASM instance on one of the existing Oracle homes on the node, restart the databases if you stopped them.
If you are using a cluster file system for your ASM Oracle home, then ensure that your local node has the $ORACLE_BASE and $ORACLE_HOME environment variables set correctly. Run the following commands from a node other than the node that you are deleting, where node_number is the node number of the node that you are deleting:
    rm -r $ORACLE_BASE/admin/+ASMnode_number
    rm -f $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/*ASMnode_number
If you are not using a cluster file system for your ASM Oracle home, then run the rm or delete commands mentioned in the previous step on each node on which the Oracle home exists.
    2) Deleting an Oracle Clusterware Home Using OUI in Silent Mode
!!! Oracle recommends that you back up your voting disk and OCR files after you complete the node deletion process.
If you ran the Oracle Interface Configuration Tool (OIFCFG) with the -global flag during the installation, then skip this step. Otherwise, from a node that is going to remain in your cluster, from the CRS_home/bin directory, run the following command where node2 is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./oifcfg delif –node node2
Obtain the remote port number, which you will use in the next step, using the following command from the CRS_home/opmn/conf directory:
    cat ons.config
From CRS_home/bin on a node that is going to remain in the cluster, run the Oracle Notification Service Utility (RACGONS) as in the following example where remote_port is the ONS remote port number that you obtained in the previous step and node2 is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./racgons remove_config node2:remote_port
On the node to be deleted, run rootdelete.sh as the root user from the CRS_home/install directory. If you are deleting more than one node, then perform this step on all of the other nodes that you are deleting.
From any node that you are not deleting, run the following command from the CRS_home/install directory as the root user where node2,node2-number represents the node and the node number that you want to delete:
    ./rootdeletenode.sh node2,node2-number
If necessary, identify the node number using the following command on the node that you are deleting:
    CRS_home/bin/olsnodes -n
Perform this step only if your are using a non-shared Oracle home. On the node or nodes to be deleted, run the following command from the CRS_home/oui/bin directory where node_to_be_deleted is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=CRS_home
    "CLUSTER_NODES={node_to_be_deleted}"
    CRS=TRUE -local
Deinstall the Oracle Clusterware home from the node that you are deleting using OUI as follows by running the following command from the Oracle_home/oui/bin directory, where CRS_home is the name defined for the Oracle Clusterware home:
    ./runInstaller -deinstall –silent "REMOVE_HOMES={CRS_home}"
Perform step 9 from the previous section about using OUI interactively under the heading "Deleting an Oracle Clusterware Home Using OUI in Interactive Mode".

  • Partial installs - how to remove them and start afresh

    Hi,
I'm in the middle of installing BOXI 31 on a 32 bit unix machine, distro Red Hat Ent 5.0.
How do you uninstall the partially deployed BO install. Is there a script that removes what was installed. Or is it simply a case of Add/Remove Programs and then physically removing the files copied top the directories.
I'm keen not to lock up any of the ports from previous installs thereby affecting the workings of the correctly installed version.
Here's the error in more detail below.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
I've managed to partially install the software but got an error midway through of
    [error] Errcode 1: cp -r /home/o2mars/perl/* /home/o2mars//perl
[error] [PostInstallScripts::WaitForCMS] CMS is not started, giving up.
    ~
I presume this is due to my hosts file
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain localhost
    ::1             localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
    192.168.0.162   oxygen

    Hi Caroline,
    cheers for the reply.
Impatient and went ahead and removed the the directories completely - bit rash but it worked OK.
On reinstall still managed to get that error but the progress of the install as a whole didn't fall over as it did previously on about 55% of Total Progress. This time it reached about 90% then came back with the message of
    BO installed with Errors etc.
I then ran the setupinit.sh, everything was OK then on login to CMC and InfoView.
I asked around the traps here (my colleagues would have loads more experience with Unix than I) and the said don't worry about it once the perl dir was there since it seemed to be copying to itself.
    [o2mars@oxygen ~]$ du -hs perl
    67M     perl
so not as big as you say.
It is a bit of a worry I suppose I would have preferred a clean install entirely.
So far only the Red Hat Ent 5.0 and BOXI 3.1 itself are the only programs loaded so it would have only been the partial installs that could have consumed those port resources (it happened on a previous install I did before Christmas)
    Thanks for your tips
    Cheers, Ed
