Remove osx server app 2.2.2

I installed sever app 2.2.2 and then upgraded to mavericks.  2.2.2 is not compatible with mavericks and now does not load.  I want to delete the server app

Quit it and drag to the Trash. If you want to continue using the machine as a server, upgrade to the current version in the App Store.

I think you may have been trying to get the old server which is still shown (called OS X Lion Server).

  • How can I completely remove OSX Server from my Mavericks installation?

I moved OSX Server and the Server file from the system Library but Server still controls my File sharing with my Sonos app.  It will not let my Sonos app access my music folder.

Perhaps there is a more correct way to uninstall server but just in case there isn't, if you remove this file and restart that should stop the server.

  • How to uninstall/remove OSX Server Demo?

    Hi all,
I installed the OSX Server Demo disc I received from Apple that has an expiry date June 30th, 2009. Long story short, it's not suitable for my needs. Now, how do I remove it without affecting anything existing. There doesn't seemed to be any option anywhere.

Back up your data and do an archive and install of the client software.
If it was me, I would back up the data, boot from the client disk and format the drive, or use my disk image I made of the machine prior to installing server.

  • How do i remove  osx server from my mac mini and just run mac osx lion

i don'r wish to run osx server just osx lion. how do i remove the server software?

One possibility is to obtain the DMG for OS X Lion, boot from it and reinstall the client version.
In my past experience, you'll keep the OS X Lion Server recovery partition, but you will most definitely be running OS X Lion without the server software deployed.
(I'm not sure if you can uninstall the Server software from a Mac Mini Server -- this appears to be integrated with the OS)

  • Managing a remote unix box with OSX server apps...

Aside from running an OSX server, I am in charge of maintaining an external, SUN unix server from my Mac, and I hate using line commands, esp. with how jaded I've become using the nice tools for managing the Mac server. For now I use terminal in order to change passwords, set permissions and so on as the sudo user on the unix box, and use rbrowser to edit cron jobs.
So, my question is, is there a way to get the OSX server admin tool to think the unix box is an OSX server? And if not, is there a graphical interface to maintain the server (it's running Apache too)? Rbrowser is cool and all, but doesn't let me use sudo for making chnages.
    Thanks for any help.
    Greg

Bummer about not having the Mac feel on SUN. Life can't always be perfect.
As far as the Webmin, no, haven't heard of it, but it sounds cool. The trick would be getting a huge client like SD County to let us buy it, then go through all the hoops and red tape to get it installed. Most likely their answer would be "Well, what have you been using this whole time and why isn't that good enough now all of a sudden?".
So for the time being, I'l have to be happy using RBrowser for file transfers between the test and production servers (beats the pants off of typing scp -p -i over and over again) and editing cron scripts. Too bad it doesn't provide sudo for changing passwords, groups, and so forth.
I'm this close to having the perfect work environment (the office I work in was all Windows with Dell laptops...until now).

  • Error -36 while copying files to SMB shares but not AFP. (OSX Server APP)

    Hello,
So far my transition to OSX server has been a sloppy one. I have had so many problems. I have problems with permissions about everyday. Anyhoos, here is my latest problem. Everytime (from any client computer) a computer tries to copy a file or folder to a share using SMB protocol to the osx server i get this message:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “File or folder name" can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
This does NOT happen when copying the same files using AFP protocol. I using a windows box at work, (dialing in throught the VPN) it doesn't seem to have any problems dropping files either. Anyone know whats up? I have read on the site that others are experiencing problems with SMB within OSX servers. Some report that it stright doesn't work!!!!
Anyhoos, through all my problems, you guys have been VERY helpful to help me work through it. I really appreciate it!!

Just found a slight work around:
    http://www.macwindows.com/TIP--Workaround-to-Mavericks-file-sharing-is-to-force- SMB.html
Several readers offered a suggestion for yesterday's report of problems with OS X 10.9 Mavericks accessing some Windows file servers and network attached storage device. Mavericks now defaults to SMB2 file sharing protocol, but a bug seems prevent OS X from using SMB1 or AFP when the server doesn't support the newer SMB2.
A workaround is to force OS X to use the old SMB1 (also known as SMB/CIFS). To do that, instead of mounting the server using the Finder, use the Connect to Server command in the Finder's Go menu. Then type in the following:
cifs://server_address (using the IP address or network name of the server)
Using smb://server_address won't work, as this will use SMB2 to access the device.
Thanks to Mario Cajina and Kevin Lepard for the suggestion.

Hello fellahs, as the title of this post says I'm making a client and server application. The server are supposed to handel several clients, and the communication is done true UDP. Out of interest why have you chosen UDP rather than TCP?
I have got two questions concerning this. The first one is if a exception is throws in the server should I then send the exception back to the client in serialized form. If I choose to do this then I also would need to handel the exception classen to the client. Or should I send back a regular IOException and use it's init cause to define the exception which occured in the server. That is up to you, you can do either. I would do the first option.
The second question is concerning the multi client support. If this is going to work then I would need to time-out the connection i the server environment, and I have not a clue about how long it should be?It should be long enough that you don't timeout a valid connection. There is no simple answer to this.

  • OSX Server mountain lion Run python web app wsgi

I'm using OSX Server.app of mountain lion. I want to run python web application on my Server.
How can I add wsgi application to my Web sites?
    I think I must edit /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/httpd_wsgi.conf and /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/webapps/com.example.mywebapp.plist.
How should I edit these files?

Server.app already includes the mod_wsgi module and a default mod_wsgi webapp example at /Library/Server/Web/Data/WebApps/hello.wsgi. It's best to leave these as-is and duplicate the files to add additional sites just in case you mess up the config.
Decide where to store your site preferably in the Sites folder. You are right about editing the files you mentioned, however copy and rename them to something like httpd_wsgi.maasaamiichii.conf. Edit that file to set your own WSGIScriptAlias, for example
    WSGIScriptAlias /WSGI /Users/maasaamiichii/Sites/WSGI.wsgi
Also edit the .plist file changing 3 keys to your own stuff to match the .conf file. This file should be edited in XCode and remember the ownership has be root:wheel 644 to run. After adding these files you may need to restart the server and/or Server.app.
Next edit the file at /private/etc/hosts to include an entry like
    127.0.0.1 maasaamiichii.dev
This so your browsers know the domain is on your devbox machine.
With these steps done, open the Server.app and select Websites in the sidebar. Invent a website name, let's say maasaamiichii.dev is your devbox name and maasaamiichii.com is your internet name. Path needs to match the WSGIScriptAlias path above. Select "Advanced Settings" and enable the middle 3 options (htaccess, folder & cgi). In the bottom box select the Python WSGI webapp to run on that site. Save and you are finished. Back on the front window you can see your website by clicking the lower right corner link.
Please note that the default mod_wsgi as included at
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_wsgi.so
runs the included Python version 2.6? and as such is outdated. Python 3 scripts may not run without custom building mod_wsgi. In addition, the included mod_wsgi is built for "embedded mode" and so the example script forgets all data between threads. To make it remember values persistently the module needs to be compiled for "daemon mode". So depending on what your purpose is for this website, the default config may not be enough persistence.

  • I have installed OSX server but I want to go back to Mountain Lion. How do I do this?

Can some one tell my how to remove OSX Server completely and return my system to the stand alone instalation of OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1, please?

OSX Server for Mountain Lion is just an additional service.
For installing it, you moved "Server.app" in your Application folder and then run it.
For removing it you get some software like "AppCleaner".
    You can download it HERE.
All you do now, move the "Server.app" to the "AppCleaner".
AppCleaner will list now all the files and folders that Server.app installed.
Restart your computer after you're done. There are most likely additional folder and configurations
but the main 'server' part should be gone. For everything else, look there:

  • Which mac mini should I get to setup osx server

    Hello!
I run a small development team though we are fairly new at working together and we're trying to setup an efficient development environment for us.  I've recently stumbled on to 'continuous integration' and had heard that a Mac Mini server can go a long way toward reaching that goal.
Keep in mind, though we're iOS developers and are technologically competent, none of us have server admin experience.
Unfortunately the latest update to Mac Mini does not have a server model.  That leads me to the following questions:
    1) Should I purchase an older mac mini that is already setup as a server?  (aka, Mac mIni server)
    2) Should I purchase one of the newer models and install OSX Server myself?  I heard it's cheap off the Mac App store, so price is not a concern, but I'm not sure what the tradeoffs are of getting one that is already a supposed server, and setting one up myself as a server.
    3) If I do purchase one of the three newer models, how do I know which one I need to support our environment?  Lower cost is obviously better, but I don't want to short change ourselves on the required power.  We would use the server mostly for file sharing, collaborating, code repos, CI, etc.  We have a website that we host on Godaddy and I would move it to our server if I could, but this is low on the priority list.
I'm also open to options such as, do none of the above and wait for a new Mac mini server model to come out, but I'm anxious and want to get started
Thanks so much for your help and advice!
    Frankie

A server model is NOTHING but a 2nd 2.5" HD and the OSX Server APP
buy a quad core mini (on sale now at best buy), and purchase a 1TB Hitachi ($65) 7200RPM HD off ebay
and purchase the server APP from the APP STORE.
OR, just find a new or used server model 2012 Mini
dont even think about fooling with the new 2014 Mini.   Lost cause.
I use godaddy as well, and ergo have NO need for a Mini server, even though I own 4 Mac Minis.
godaddy is cheaper and easier ......you should possibly consider the same

  • How does one unistall OS X Server.App ???

I have a Apple Mac Pro "Quad Core" 3.2 (Server 2012), with Lion Server installed. I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion but want to unistall all server software, I just want the "normal" Mountain Lion installed. Any help highly appreciated.

Dragging the server app to the trash will appear to work - but when you go to empty the trash - you will see the following message below - and the trash will not empty.  A subsequent attempt at emptying the trash will allow the trash to be emptied.  Most of the components of the server are still in-fact installed - and will be reinstated when the server app is reinstalled.
When you do in-fact return the server app to the applications folder - opening it will result in having to go through the setup process again - under the assumption that some or all of your previous settings will be retained as well as any service related data.  I can only assume that the original poster "tsblackard" is looking to completely remove the Server App and all of it's related services and data - and to the best of my knowledge the only way to do this is to restore the Mac from a backup prior to having set up the server.  I suspect it can be removed manually - but not without a lot of hacking - that may or may not prove to be successful.

  • OSX 10.8.2 with Server App - Where is mail stored

I have OSX 10.8.2 with the Server App installed.
When I first started using the server, I did not have Mail services turned on.  I was able to get all emails from the server (for example whenever cron jobs run) at the local users mail folder.  For example, if the user is johndoe the mail would get sent to [email protected] and the actual mail box would be located at /var/mail/
I then turned on Mail services and was looking at what the options there were.  I did not actually add any mail service options.  Have not created a Mail server to receive or send mail.  So this has nothing to do with MX records, or anything to do with external email communiciations.
This is where it got strange. Local mail stopped arriving at the /var/mail folder.  If I used Terminal to check mail at [email protected] it was obvious new mail was arriving and being stored somewhere.  Its just not being stored in the users /var/mail/ folder.
Can someone please tell me where the mail is being stored locally?  Why did the location change.  Is it because I turned Mail services ON?  Can I make the mail go back to the original location in /var/mail/?
Shown below are some of the log files related to mail delivery.  SMTP log and Mail Server log both look happy.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Oscar
I looked at the smtp log on the server - everything seemed to be good.

I tried what you recommended and the mail that gets sent out when the cron job runs still goes to the Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail location.  When I checked the /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/main.cf it actually had the mail_spool_directory = /var/mail commented out.
I uncommented to see it would send mail to /var/mail but it did not work.  Am I missing something.  Another parameter somewhere. Any other suggestions on where I should look?
Any online documentation that would explain more about what happens when mail services is activated by the Server App?

  • Will I have OSX Server in my App Store if I buy a "Mac Mini with OSX Server"?

I am planning on buying Mac Mini for a Home Media Server, and I am curious if the OSX Server will be added to my account. Or do you think I would better get the same system configuration without the OSX Server, then buy it from the App Store? Is there going to be a difference between the two different processes.

It won't automatically be added to your account unless you supply your account details when you buy.  But once you've received your server you can phone Apple Sales and give your details (including order number or server serial number) and they should add Server to your account for you.
What you actually get will be identical.
