Remove small DVD

Not paying attention, I placed a small DVD (evidently not supported) into my MacBook Pro DVD drive.  Now I cannot eject it.  I've already restarted, etc. and it tries but cannot eject.  Silly mistake but what can I do?

Mac Pros (on this forum) have a tray-loading drive, and so can easily load/read/eject a small DVD.
You need to re-post in the MacBOOK Pro forum for advice.

  • Small dvd stuck in dvd drive

My son stuck a small dvd into the dvd drive in my MacBook Pro and now I can't get it out.  The size of the dvd is much smaller than standard... it came with a watch I bought my husband for Christmas.  Any ideas on how to eject?  I tried going to Launchpad and Terminal and typing in drutil eject when prompted.  Unfortunately that didn't work.

You may have to take the computer to the Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider
    to get the cd removed.
    Best.

  • Can I use one of those small DVD's in a mac??? Will it slide in the DVD re?

Can I put in one of those small DVD's in my Mac Computer?? I think the disc is about 2 inches or so.
Or do I have to use a standard size?? If I can, do i just put it in the same as a usual DVD?? Its just a regular old Mac Home Computer with the DVD on the side of the monitor.

After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp “removed” the DVD drive. I think there is an issue because I reinstalled Windows 8. If I don't install driver, then I have reduced functionality (no Apple keyboard, no sound etc), but once I install driver, I lose my DVD drive.

Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard.

  • Can you put the small DVD discs from a camcorder in the DVD slot of the iMac?

Stupid question...can you put the small DVDs from a camcorder in the DVD slot of the iMac?

That could be a challenge. If I am not mistaken that camera strictly records to DVD - RW and has no digital output connectors, is that right?
My only experience with a camera like that was a bad one. I was able to get the video off the disc using a tray-loading iMac but it was painfully slow.
iMovie (for example) is designed to work with camcorders such as those specified in this reference:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html
I cannot find the DCR-DVD92 in that database
You might consider finding an external USB slot-loading DVD drive, but as I say my experience was painfully slow, and you might run into file format compatibility challenges.
I am sure it's possible but it won't be as easy as importing video from something like an iPad or iPhone. I still use a camcorder on occasion but it has a FireWire port. That's easy.

    Hi
I have a dvd stuck in the drive and as I can not boot is there a way of removing the dvd ?

Boot with the option key down.  You will see a window showing all the bootable systems.  Select the OSX boot and hit return.  Once you are booted into OSX, use the Startup Disk system preferences to change your default boot volume.

  • Small DVD-RW disks from Videocamera

I am planning to buy a imac in order to work on my films, which are on small DVD-RW disks from my Video Camera. Is there any way they fit into the iMac ? plastic tray ? any fitting help ? thanks.

    What Donald Morgan said! See:

Trying to do this is just asking for trouble, unless you have a tray-loading drive, which the G5 imacs do not.

  • Small dvd stuck on macbook pro

I accidently put a small dvd inside my macbook pro not realizing that it wasnt supported by my computer. I've tried everything to get it out, pressing eject, restarting the computer and even shaking it but the dvd wont come out.

Try some tape folded over a tongue depressor or something similar.
    Ciao.

    Hi,
Please identify your notebook/pc with more than the series number.
Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker.
Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following image. Your barcode may be slightly different but will still have the important imformation needed for us to help you.
###Do not post the serial number as it is personal information.###
Post the installed operating system version ( and whether it is 32 or 64-bit )
Not posting the information as requested will delay our responses and troubleshooting of the issue that led you to author a thread.

  • Small dvd-rom. Ok to put into macbook?

It is a small dvd-rw disc. I want to know if i put it in my macbook it will be fine and not get jammed or anything.

If you meant the 3.5" DVD disk then DON'T PUT IT IN. MacBooks only use the standard DVD disks.

Thank you so much for this info. I've been trying for hours to eject a CD from my USB superdrive and all it would do would tell me this "cannot be supported". I tried everything listed on the Apple support site and was about to make a trip to the service center. I downloaded the Terminal app and typed in what you said and it immedialty ejected my CD. Thanks again.

Not advised it will not work or fit correctly you need to have a adapter to make that fit and as the other poster said your speed will be slower. Also you can get laptop drives each that are 2tb in both bay without needing to take out the OD drive itself. Did you look into that before getting a SSD.
