RemoveEventListener() vs. Delegate.create()

I have a custom button class that uses the mx.events.EventDispatcher class.
I've properly initialized my button instances and am able to addEventListeners and removeEventListeners when I'm using statements such as this:
curButton.addEventListener("release",roleSelected);
curButton.removeEventListener("release",roleSelected);
But since roleSelected is called from the scope of the button that was released I wanted to use Delegate like such:
var home:MovieClip=this;
curButton.addEventListener("release",Delegate.create(home,roleSelected));
curButton.removeEventListener("release",Delegate.create(home,roleSelected));
But the listener isn't getting removed. I'm wondering if there is something obvious that I am missing?
Thanks.

  • Outlook 2010 - Delegate creates meetings on someone elses behalf

    To start here's our environment:
    Workstations are Windows 7 Pro using Outlook 2010 connecting to an Exchange 2010 Server.
    Here's the problem:A delegate (Person A) of someone elses calendar creates a meeting for them in that person's calendar (Person B). Person A has delegate permissions (editor permissions) to Person B's calendar. After the meeting is created and sent out on
    Person B's behalf, Person B receives an email about the meeting in what looks like plain text format. Person B normally doesn't get an email after a meeting is created but every couple of days this seems to happen. Person B then tends to contact Person A asking
    why they received that email and then asks if the meeting has been scheduled when it has.
    Any ideas why Person B receives these emails after Person A creates these meetings from Person B's calendar?
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
    Please check the delegate settings in Person B’s Outlook client:
    Click File > Account Settings > Delegate Access. Click Person A and check whether “My delegates and me” is checked in the delegate settings:
    It is recommended to select the first one. If the settings is correct, please check Person A’s Sent Items whether A also added Person B as an attendee in the meeting request.
    Thanks,

  • Office 365 Shared External Contacts - how do I delegate Edit and Update permissions to users

    Hello
    Office 365 Shared External Contacts - how do I delegate Create/Update/Delete/Edit permissions to users who are not Admins? These Contacts are in the Global Address List. Not Outlook personal Contacts. O365 Small Business Premium

    Hi,
    To grant users delegate permissions, open Outlook, go to FILE -> Info -> Account Settings -> Delegate Access -> Add -> Search and add the user, click OK -> Edit the permission of the user. We can set different permissions in the dropbox
    of Contacts.
    There are four permisssions for Contacts:
    1. None
    2. Reviewer (can read items)
    3. Author (can read and create items)
    4. Editor (can read, create, and modify items)
    Select the permission that you want to grant the user.
    We can also modify the permission later in this section.
    I hope the information is helpful, if I misunderstood anything, feel free to correct me and provide more detailed description of the question.

  • AS 2 Delegate

    Hi, a question.
    I'm talking about AS 2.
    In a class I've:
    btnCollection.onRollOver = function() {
    // this._name is a button name
    var t = Number(this._name.substr(1, 1));
    Mouse.hide();
    // cRef is a reference to the class
    cRef.cursor._visible = true;
    startDrag(cRef.cursor, true);
    cRef.setRotation(cRef.curPos[t]);
    btnCollection is previously created, this way:
    for (i=0; i<btns; i++) {
    var btnCollection = targetLevel['c'+i+'_btn'];
    cRef is previously created this way:
    var cRef = this; // it stores a reference to the class.
    the var t registers a number contained in a button name (I
    use that
    number to perform various tasks).
    This is perfectly working, but now I want to use the Delegate
    class.
    So, I did the following:
    btnCollection.onRollOver = Delegate.create(this,
    btnRollOver(btnCollection));
    after having built this method:
    private function btnRollOver(whichBtn) {
    var t = Number(whichBtn._name.substr(1, 1));
    Mouse.hide();
    cursor._visible = true;
    startDrag(cursor, true);
    setRotation(curPos[t]);
    nothing works like before.
    That is: I probably easily get the class reference but I've
    lost the
    reference to the single button...
    Please, can you help me better understand (and solve) this
    issue?
    Thanks!

    This probably depends on the Exchange version.  What version of Exchange is it?  Hopefully something recent.

  • How do I hyperlink in XML?

    Hello. I currently am building a new project, which is a carousel. The carousel itself is OK, everything works, including the click the icon to read the description. The only problem is that I need to have a hyperlink in one of the descriptions. I know how to hyperlink in HTML, and tried that in XML, but it didn't work. I also tried XSL or something to link but that just screwed up the SWF file itself. Here is my XML code.

  • How do I get my XML numeric values to show up when loaded into flash?

    Hi there,
    I've created an AS2 3D carousel  It loads text values in the "content" section of the code below -  including numbers and special characters into the .swf but...
    What I can't figure out, is how to get it so that the "Tooltip" loads the text into the movieclip, but can also have numeric and special characters in it.
    For example, I need the title of one of the icons on this carousel to be "3D Images," but only the "D Images" shows up from the XML text for the tooltip.  The content when a user clicks on the icon can include numbers, just not the titles for some reason.
    http://iongeo.com/collaboration_test_dev/video_arctic_imaging.html
    I think it has something to do with the way that my text is loaded from the xml document specifically for the tooltip and tipText for the movie clip.  Can numeric values be loaded into a movie clip in AS2?  PLEASE HELP!

  • DidSelectRowAtIndexPath causes my app to crash

    Hi,
    I'm just learning Cocoa. I've implemented a tab bar, and the first view (a UIViewController) contains a table view. I've implemented a separate class as the tableview datasource and delegate. Everything works fine, until I add either didSelectRowAtIndexPath or accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath. Even if these methods have absolutely no code in them, just adding their implementation to my delegate creates a problem: when I click on a table row or on the disclosure button, my app breaks, and when I "step into" the code, it crashes with a “EXCBADACCESS”. I do not have any symbolic breakpoints defined.
    Here's the error I see in gdb:
    Loading program into debugger…

    I currently suspect one of two things, but honestly, have no idea what is causing the problem. I suspect that either, because I'm not using a Navigation controller, it's looking for a stack, but not finding one. Or I haven't hooked something up right in IB.
    As I mentioned, the table is working fine without these method implementations - that is, it is displaying some simple string data and without those method implementations, I can click on a table row and of course, nothing happens, but it doesn't crash.
    Thanks so much in advance for any help.

    I've made a lot of progress since I last posted!
    I can see that!!
    I have set the View Controllers property (using IB) to the Navigation Controller (topicsTableNavController in the code below) for the first tab.
    Neither your code nor your IB conections should set the navigationController property of a view controller. That property is set by the nav controller when the vc is pushed onto its stack. Your code can then use the property to get the nc's address when it wants to push another vc onto the stack.
    Then, I have set the view (through IB) of the Navigation Controller to the Table View Controller.
    Similarly, you should normally consider nc.view to be read only. The nc's view content is a composite of the nav bar and the top vc's view. It's managed by the nc, so neither your code nor your IB connections should change nc.view.
    I think you've simply made a wrong (and very common!) assumption about the relationship between a nav controller and the view controllers it manages: The nc's view is the one that needs to be added to the hierarchy (the tab view in this case). The vc's view is then added to the nc's view, not the other way around. So when we visualize the relationship, the nav controller is always the parent of the view controllers that are pushed on and popped from its stack.
    Since you defined your controllers and their connections in IB, the solution you're looking for is in the xib file, not your code. It turns out that IB already knows the correct structure, so it's deceptively easy to build it. That can make it harder to learn what's going on, so you're lucky you managed to scramble the stucture this time, else you might have never learned it.
    Try building a new test bed in IB as follows:
    1) File->New Project->iPhone OS->Application->Tab Bar Application;
    2) Open MainWindow.xib in IB and bring up the window named MainWindow.xib (Window->Document);
    3) Switch View Mode (upper left corner) to the center position (2 columns with small-icon tree view to the left);
    4) Expand Tab Bar Controller and select (not expand) the first View Controller so it's highlighted in blue;
    5) Delete the first View Controller by pressing the Delete key or Edit->Delete while that controller is highlighted;
    6) Drag a Navigation Controller to the MainWindow.xib tree (Tools->Library->Objects->Controllers);
    7) Position the nav controller over the tab bar controller icon until the tbc is shaded and outlined;
    8) Drop the nc so that the tbc becomes its parent--i.e. the nc takes the place of the deleted vc;
    9) Expand the nc and expand its child root controller to see the structure;
    10) Select the root vc, open the Attributes panel (Tools->Attributes Inspector) and enter a title for the root vc;
    11) If you want to define the root vc's view in it's own xib, enter a name for the new xib;
    12) else you can now drag a view (e.g. UIView or UITableView from the library onto the root vc's icon;
    13) If you want the root vc to be a UITableViewController. go back to step 10 and replace the root UIViewController;
    14) After you have the structure you want, right click on each icon to see the connections IB has already made.
    Btw, if you decide to make a separate xib in step 11, make sure you set the controller's class id in both MainWindow.xib and the new xib. I.e. both the icon that creates the controller and its proxy need to have the same class (else you get a very common crash).
    I'm counting on you to let me know if the above is as clear as mud, ok? I've recently tried to help in two other threads that involved the same misunderstanding about nav controllers. Start reading each of these threads at the quoted paragraph:
    The reason your current code isn't producing the transition you expect is that the tab bar has attached the table controller's view to the hierarchy (i.e. using addSubview) instead of the nav controller's view. You want the nav controller's view because that's the one which will change when you push a new controller. [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9592005&#9592005];
    It's the nav controller's view that contains the content view, not the other way around. This point is worth taking a moment to see, and it seems to be commonly misunderstood. [http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9607946#9607946].

  • Giving users control of their own distribution list control to add or remove external email addresses from their list

    We are a Exchange 2010 SP3 shop, we have distribution groups (with over 200 email addresses ) from another email system which has only external email addresses (i.e [email protected] [email protected]  and so on …..)
    We want to import these groups into exchange. we called microsoft, they said create mail contacts for each address and put those in a Distribution Group.  I know this will work.
    Our goal is to have the user create / maintain / add / remove external their own email addresses  (Not the IT department)
    There must be many companies whose requirements match ours. Are there third party tools that would handle creation of distribution list?
    Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated ! THank you

    I wouldn't give the ability to create contacts to everyone in the environment because it will become mess at some point of time and IT will have to jump to control it
    anyway so why don’t from the start...
    I would give this to certain people like Leads or Managers of the groups under certain IT Policy so it will be still under control and people
    will think before asking their superior to create them and someone gets responsibility to manage these contacts...
    Though here is the more specific article on how to delegate creating and editing contacts...

  • Code for a Flash carousal

    Hi,
    Looking for help to fix code for a Flash carousal.
    I lost all my original files in a major hard drive crash. (no
    backup, I learned). I’m now trying to redo the carousel.
    My original site contained a tooltip and a icon.xml that
    direct the icon click to a web page.
    I have enclosed the Flash code the new carousel I created,
    along with the icon.xml file. I have one web page that works using
    the same XML file
    http://www.susystastebuds.com/CakeZone.html
    At this time I’m unable to get new carousel to work on
    any other page. I guess the Flash code has changed since the
    original one I did. I hope someone is able to provide help as to
    why the new one won’t work.
    When I click on the icon now, it will close all the other
    icons and move up to the left and just stop. Not providing any link
    to another web page.
    If anbody has the same code in action script in script 3 that
    includes the Tooltip and goto url, that would be great.
    The Flash action script is:

  • New Tween onMotionFinished not working

    Hello everyone,
    I have :
    //-----Class File
    import mx.transitions.*;
    import mx.transitions.easing.*;
    class cTransition {
    public function cTransition(){
    public function AnimateScreen() {

                   AnimateScreen()
    //-----fla timeline
    var myMov:Object
    myMov = new cTransition ()
    myMov.AnimateScreen(myMov._childMov)
    This code is within a class and the problem is that the "myMovieToAnimate" movieClip animates the first time around but when the tween finishes, it does not call the AnimateScreen() function again, why is this.
    Any help here would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    I have a similar problem in that my function is not being called when onMotionFinished is called. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong??

  • Many threads on application.onDisconnect not firing but seemingly no solution

    I've dug some threads up and included links at the end of this post. Have some more work to do researching it but figured I'd get the ball rolling.
    Essentially one can't depend on application.onDisconnect() firing at the close of a client's browser.  It happens sometimes.  But with some apps, it just doesn't happen at all.  I've watched the FMS management console as I've repeatedly opened and closed a particular app I'm developing.  Connections don't die with each browser close.  The net result is a piling up of connections.  My app has a "connected users" list in it.  It gets packed with multiple connections from the same client.
    Eventually, after 5-10 mins, the connections disappear on their own.  Not good though.  One of the functions in my app lets someone select a user in the list and send a direct chat.  This feature isn't working because disconnections are not registering real time.  Some of the people in the user list are not really there anymore.
    I get the problem in both IE8 and FireFox 3.5.3 on FMS 3.52.  Others have reported the problem in various browsers and FMS versions going way back. Problem's been around for some time.
    This guy has the same problem and a nice description, although he experienced only in IE:
    onDisconnect Errors in Internet Explorer: (http://www.flashnewz.com/ondisconnect-errors-in-internet-explorer/)
    After reading the accounts at the links gathered below, I get the feeling it might not necessarily be an FMS problem alone, but rather some combo of browser, SWFObject implementation, and perhaps particular features used (or not used) in the client ActionScript.  Nobody's seemed to nail down the precise combination though.
    Pretty much a show stopper.  Has anyone developed viable work arounds?

  • A few questions with XML and Flash

    Hi there.
    I am currently trying to create a 3d carousel using AS2 and XML.  I've made a lot of progress, but there ar e few things I am still struggling with and was hopoing that someone here could please steer me in the right direction.
    Here is a URL where the Carousel can be found:
    http://iongeo.com/ru_innovation_test_dev/carousel_test.html
    Here are a few of the things I am wondering:
    1.  I would like to be ablle to add a back button movide clip, similar to how the tooltip movie clip is presented now; this movie clip would be able to allow users to go back home to the caousel.  I can't seem to get it to load correctly however, I would imagine that it would be set up similarly to how the tooltip icon is set up now, but to be able to have an alpha of 100 when the text is loaded in.
    2.  I was also wondering how I mihgt be able to add links to my .xml document to be able to call in URLs on the web.  I've tried several things using the CDATA approach, but can't seem to get it to work.
    I would greatly appreciate any assistance privded and am very greatful for any consideration thac ould be provided.  Please let me know if there is anything htat I should clarify on.

    Below is my code for AS2 and XML so that you might see how things are currently working.

  • A User Count in a Flash Media Server Application

    hello guys, first of all, sorry for my english...
    i am making a flash media server application and i want users to see that how many users are currently connected to this application...
    i have searched on google for 2 days and i couldnt find a good tutorial for AS3.
    i have looked at fmsguru and some other tutorial websites but those wasn't enough for me to succes...
    what i am trying to make is; a text area or dynamic text (i dont know which is most suitable for this purpose) which shows the numbers of connected user and i want it change immediately when a user connects or disconnects...
    i know there is an array as "application.clients" and i know i should use "application.clients.length" in "main.asc" file to find the number of connected users BUT i can't get this number to the text area or dynamic text in my "swf file".
    PLEASE help me by explaining a simple application which uses a "main.asc" file, an "action script" file and a "swf" file. and how to get the number of "application.clients.length", how to send (or call or get) it to the "action script" file, how to show this number in a text field or dynamic text...
    i will be very appreciated if someone explain in AS3 and make me success...
    thanks for reading...

    well here you don't even need the button just tell your textfield to update everytime the server calls after a connection or disconnection. Do you know how to write actionscript at all? Because you would be well advised not to attempt media server stuff unless you know how to do the basics. Maybe you could start out with some client only applications.

    private function onLoad() {
    myButton.addEventListener("click", Delegate.create(this, onUserCount));
    public function connect( rtmpString:String) {
    _nc = new NetConnection();
    _nc.owner = this;
    _nc.onStatus = function ( info ) {
    if(info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") {
    trace("connected successfully");
    this.owner.connectSO( this );
    _nc.receiveUsercount = function (count) {
    var myTextArea = this.owner.myTextArea;
    myTextArea.text = count;
    _nc.connect(rtmpString);
    private function connectSO( nc ) {
    _chatSO.connect( nc );
    you didn't even try what i suggested did you because it would have worked without changing the client

  • How to call a function inside a class?

    Hello, i am trying to fire a function onPress .. this
    function is inside a class.
    In this function i refer to another function inside the calss
    to call a Tween. It never arrives in the second function.
    I tried to make an example.
    In the fla file i have:
    var test:makeMovie = new makeMovie(this);
    You will see a red squere and you can press on it. It should
    run the tween class. Am i using the delegate class wrong?

    I always have to use test movie and trace a couple of times
    each time I start to use Delegate.
    It wraps function.apply I think, which I tend to use more
    often.
    try using:
    Container.onPress = Delegate.create(this,setAlpha);
    and then just
    setTween()
    inside your setAlpha....
    That's conceptually how I think I would try it above if I was
    doing something similar.
    I'm not sure it would have the desired effect even if the
    delegate was executed as you have it coded. Unless you want
    setTween's execution scope to be the Container clip in which case
    you might need to do what kglad said and change the Container
    reference to 'this'.
    The way you have it at the moment inside setAlpha the
    Delegate.create is simply creating a function...and not excuting
    it.
    its like : function something(){trace('what')}
    and not like : something();
    Below is some quick code that helps show how things work.
    Notice that I assigned the delegate function to mainFunc....so that
    along with the last example might provide a clue. Just paste it on
    a frame and take a look at what's happening.

    Problem solved
    I just had to rearrange the order of the captions, and now
    it's ok. I kept basically the same order as it was when the problem
    occured: slide, mouse layer, zoom area and captions.
    Cheers!
