Rename Fails When Imaging - SCPreferencesCommitChanges() failed
Hello!
I had an image put together for Yosemite 10.10.2 that has been working great since the beginning of February. I attempted to image a few computers over the last few days, and all systems get the same error message at the same place. Part of the post image process is to pop-up the rename workstation app so that we can enter the computer name. The box pops-up; however, the rename fails with the following error:
SCPreferencesCommitChanges() failed: Write attempted on stale version of object (1)
Does anyone know what would cause an error like this?
Thanks so much!

It might be a driver for a wrong version of Windows PE (it's the x86 boot image you need to test).
Make sure you have the correct version of the NIC driver in your boot image .
Here is a old (but still valid) guide for SCCM 2007, on how to test if you have the correct driver.

DTEXEC does not fail when SSIS package fails
I need to run my SSIS 2012 packages through the catalog with DTEXEC. This works very well, except that if my SSIS package fails, DTEXEC does not fail. I need DTEXEC to fail, so my scheduler knows that there is an error.
I use the following command:
dtexec /ISServer "\SSISDB\MyFolder\MyProject\MyPackage.dtsx" /Ser MyServer /Par $Package::Partition;201412 /Env 5
When I check the status of the run in the Catalog, it is failed.
When I used SSIS 2008, I had no problem getting DTEXEC to fail when the packages failed.I've had the same problem, and come up with the following prototype for a SQL Script which I run in our JAMS Enterprise Scheduler. It uses SSISDB stored procedures to start the SSIS package and polls every 5 seconds to report any messages, and final
status code of the package. JAMS parameters are delimited by << >> symbols, and will need to be changed for your scheduler/batch process. I guess the script could be converted to a stored procedure. I'm also hoping it will work with SQL High
Availability groups to ensure the SSIS package runs on the server that's hosting the active database.

Pswsync fails when groups sync fails

Resync fails when I enable group sync.
I can't succeed to resync
as soon as I disable the group sync, everything comes OK again
It could be mapped to http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10153191
or to Bug ID: 6572575
For the group synchronization to work successfully during resync, both the user and group should reside at the same level in the synchronization scope. Otherwise, it displays an error.
But the AD's DIT exists and can't be altered. Groupos and people are in different branches that is a common design as soon as you leave the default "put all in CN=USERS"
Is there a workaround?6230i is rather old phone, so if you had a version of pc suite that worked with it, try to find it and use that,maybe the newest pc suite no longer supports well 6230i (altough I have seen it in the forum here that it does work. You have something special in your setup that prevents it from working but difficult to guess what.

CopyProfile fails when image deployed
Hi,
I am using Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacentre with WDS to capture, service and deploy Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
I've created an unattend answerfile to be used on the various passes during deployment which works fine until I service the image offline.
Basically I am mounting the image and installing driver packs using DISM, I do this with multiple images independently but each one fails with the CopyProfile stage at the specialise pass.
If I deploy before servicing, CopyProfile works.
I run CMD prompt with elevated priveleges and use the DISM command within that DOS session. I am Domain admin. Server is fully patched up.
Any ideas on what could be causing this please?
NigeHi,
This issue is mostly caused by the user profile corruption.
Please delete all the user account profiles except the Administrator built-in account using the User Accounts control panel and make the customizations using the local Administrator built-in user account.
Them retry your process.

I have followed the "usual" way to build a pooled VDI desktop using Win7 or Win8 with success, but it fails when I use an image of Win Server 2012 as VM instead.
Am I overlooking something? Should I need to prepare the image in a different way? (Sysprep differently?)
ThanksHi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you specify the error which you are facing during VDI setup for server 2012?
I might think that you need to check the memory setting for server 2012, as might happens that due to less memory you can’t setup the VDI setup properly.
Memory: If the Master VM is configured with static memory, it must have at least 1024 MB as startup RAM. If the Master VM is configured with dynamic memory, the maximum RAM must be at least 1024 MB.
Please check beneath article for information.

Hi Don, here's my guess...
The 901 number is additional space added in the scripts. This indicates that the source image size was 0.
Since you are making a NetBoot from Install media, under the covers the installer process is being run to create a NetBoot volume. The media shipped with the 27" iMac is most likely CPU specific and thus the installation fails because you are trying to create the image (i.e. install the system) on an unsupported CPU.
In order to produce a NetBoot from the install media, you'll have to create it on the 27" iMac.
Hi Brian,
Thanks for the response. This makes perfect sense. I'll give this a try and shout back!

Disk Utility Broken (fails to image or verify properly)
Hey, my disk Utility seems to be broken.
When I try to clone a drive it goes along fine, then ultimately creates something that doesn't pass it's own verification afterwards, and fails when I try to open the image.
I repair both the cloned (main/internal) drive, and the destination drive. I use Disk Warrior on it so it's nice and clean, but still it fails.
So I created an image with SuperDuper by making a copy on a free reformated drive then bouncing it back onto the original drive as a clone/image. That works, and disk utility sees it as good, but aparently a little too good, cause it says it over and over and craps out.
Here's the error I get:
Disk Utility internal error
Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility.
(Quit)
Then in the background the DU program says:
Volume passed verification
1 HFS volume checked
Volume passed verification
1 HFS volume checked
Volume passed verification
1 HFS volume checked
and repeats this on into infinity.
Then when I check (Quit) it says it's still in progress and quitting could leave the disk non operations depending on the task.
Since this is a read only task (verify) I'm not worried about that, but it doesn't mean that the DU isn't screwed.
I've tried using DU off the istall disk and that doesn't seem to work either. So did they just ship me a bad system install disk? Should I be looking for another copy of DU?Your issue lost connection with the Disk Management Tool is normally a Panther problem, but some Tiger users have experianced it also. Follow the advice in this link.
If you follow the tips in there it should straighten out Disk Utility.
Cheers!

Deploy OS task sequence fails when deploying to multiple computers
Hi gang,
I'm running into an issue when imaging multiple computers with MDT 2012. Let me give some background info.
I have installed Windows 7 64 bit on a laptop in audit mode, made my configurations, sysprepped the machine, and captured a .wim using WDS (captured to an external hard drive). I then imported this .wim into MDT, created a Standard Client Task Sequence to deploy
the image, and successfully deployed it to a machine.
My problem comes up when I initiate this task sequence on multiple computers simultaneously. If I put 6 computers side-by-side and run the task sequence at the same time, only a couple machines will actually succeed. The rest fail with the following:
FAILURE ( 5624 ): 2: Run ImageX: /apply "\\CAAPPWN40\DeploymentShare$\Operating Systems\T731 (Final) Windows 7 64 bit May 2013\T731 (Final) Windows 7 64 bit May 2013.wim"

If I restart the computer, boot back into PXE, and run the task sequence again, this time on it's own (as opposed to 6 computers at once) it works fine.
Can anyone help?I just rebooted the server and tried again, same result.
I keep getting a "Body text cannot contain links or images until we are able to verify your account" error when posting a hyperlink. I've had my technet account since October... weird.

CS5 Batch Via Image Processor Fail
Hi All, I have batch problem in CS5 using the Scrips/Image Processor feature. I have an action which does the following to a folder of selected images (jpegs): Creates a duplicate layer, runs Portraiture on the image, creates a new layer on top of Portraiture via a layer combination, then runs Alien Skin Exposure film simulation filter. The problem is that after 144 images process, normally the 144th or 145th image will fail to close. The remaining images will open and close (and save in destination folder) but the action is not applied to those remaining images. If I stop the batch and restart, it will immediately fail again. Photoshop must be closed and repoened in order for me to process remaining images (up to 144). My source images are normally (2-4mb) jpegs and I am saving the batched images as either jpegs or psd's. Either way fails. I am running CS5 with the most current update on a 2010 MacPro (12gig) with OSX 10.7.4 installed. Please help!
When you installed CS5, you have a chance to register it. If you do, your serial number is on file under your Adobe (My Products). If you did not, you have no serial number on file and even worse, no proof you own it.
You do not have your serial number copied down anywhere? Hard to believe you tossed the dvd box and all the documents away.
So Help > Register might give you a chance to do this without you knowing the number.
If not, you may want to consider the Photography Plan. Creative Cloud Photography plan | Adobe Creative Cloud -
I recently purchased Photoshop Touch for use on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I have uploaded files to Creative Cloud from CS5 version of Photoshop. I can view the file thumbnails on my tablet, but when I go to open them, I get the following error every time:
CONNECTION FAILURE. DOWNLOADING FAILED. IMAGE CANNOT BE LOADED. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to pull my hair out!! ThanksWhat kind of file type are you trying to open? - Guido

Unit test runs perfectly fine with NUnit but fails when run from TestExplorer
Hello all,
I have a TestProject, Harmony.Tests. In there, I have a method AddApplicationEvent()
which calls another method Send(InvokeRequestMessage requestMessage) which calls a webservice (OperationHandlerBrokerWebService).
The code snippet looks like this. This is not the complete code but a part where we are calling the web service. It fails on the underlined Italic line of code.
OperationHandlerBrokerWebService brokerService = new OperationHandlerBrokerWebService();
brokerService.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
brokerService.Url = address;
brokerService.Timeout = timeoutInMilliseconds;
byte[] serializedResponseMessage = brokerService.InvokeOperationHandler(serializedRequestMessage);
The same test works and passed fine when I ran it with NUnit, but failed with following exception when I tried to run it from TestExplorer.

I am not sure what causing the issue. I checked the Credentials, Windows Identity during both the test run and there is no difference. Please advise !!
Thanks,
DeepakHi Tina,
Thanks for your reply.
I do have NUnit adapter installed. I even noticed that the test runs fine with NUnit GUI and also if I run it through Resharper Test Explorer window.
As you can see in the image above the same test is passed when I ran it from Resharper Unit Test Explorer window but fails when I ran it from Test Explorer window. I also captured the information on fiddler.
There was a significant difference in the Header Content length. Also under the User-Agent property the protocol versions are different.
Not sure why VSTest ExecutionEngine is picking a different version.
The UnitTest in question is calling a webservice method which in turn calls a method from another referenced project.
Web Service class
using System;
using System.Web.Services;
using N4S.Forms.OperationHandlerBroker.Server;
using NLog;
namespace N4S.Forms.OperationHandlerBroker.WebServiceServer
/// <summary>
/// The operaton-handler broker service.
/// </summary>
[WebService(Description = "The N4S Forms Operation-Handler Broker Web-Service.", Name = "OperationHandlerBrokerWebService",
Namespace = "N4S.Forms.OperationHandlerBroker.WebServiceServer")]
[WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]
public class BrokerService : WebService
{ /// <summary>
/// Calls <see cref="HandleRequest"/>. Updates performance-counters.
/// </summary>
/// <param name="serializedInvokeRequestMessage">the binary-serialized <see cref="InvokeRequestMessage"/></param>
/// <returns>the binary-serialized response message</returns>
[WebMethod(BufferResponse = true, CacheDuration = 0, Description = "Invokes the requested operation-handler and returns a binary-serialized response-message.", EnableSession = false)]
public byte[] InvokeOperationHandler(byte[] serializedInvokeRequestMessage)
logger.Trace(Strings.TraceMethodEntered);
PerformanceMonitor.RecordRequestStarted();
InvokeRequestMessage requestMessage = (InvokeRequestMessage) AMessage.DeserializeMessage(serializedInvokeRequestMessage);
InvokeResponseMessage responseMessage;
try
responseMessage = HandleRequest(requestMessage);
PerformanceMonitor.RecordSuccessfulRequest();
catch (Exception)
PerformanceMonitor.RecordFailedRequest();
throw;
finally
PerformanceMonitor.RecordRequestEnded();
logger.Trace(Strings.TraceMethodExiting);
return AMessage.SerializeMessage(responseMessage);
UnitTest snippet
OperationHandlerBrokerWebService brokerService = new OperationHandlerBrokerWebService();
brokerService.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
byte[] serializedResponseMessage = brokerService.InvokeOperationHandler(serializedRequestMessage);
Please advise.
Thanks,

Conversion failed when converting the varchar value to data type int
Hi, I am unable to resolve this error and would like some assistance please.
The below query produces the following error message -
Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'NCPR' to data type int.
Select Pc2.Assess,
Select Pc1.Title
From Pc1
Where Pc1.Assess = Pc2.Assess
) [Title]
From Pc2
However, when I run the query below I get the results shown in the image . Ie. nothing. Pc1 & Pc2 are aliases and are the same table and the assess field is an int. I found NCPR in one cell but that column (prop) is not used in the query. The table
is nearly 25k rows.
SELECT * FROM Pc1 WHERE Pc1.Assess LIKE '%NCPR%' OR ISNUMERIC(Pc1.Assess) = 0
Thank youWHERE ISNUMERIC(id) = 1 and there are obviously no 'NCPR' records in the view as per my previous post.
That is a bad assumption - SQL Server does not have to evaluate the query in the order you are expecting it to.
Take this simple example
CREATE TABLE #example
col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
SELECT * FROM
SELECT * FROM #example
WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
) X
(3 row(s) affected)
col1
1
2
(2 row(s) affected)
compare to
CREATE TABLE #example
col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
SELECT * FROM
SELECT * FROM #example
WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
) X
WHERE col1 = 1
(3 row(s) affected)
col1
1
Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 8
Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'NaN' to data type int. -

Suggestions Welcomed,
Thanks AdamHi,
Please check whether you receive these error logs: Event ID 3130, 3131, 3320 or 3321.
Check the environment in which the start virtual machine operation was being attempted, including:
access and permissions to the configuration file, memory file and all image files
prior error messages in the event log
available RAM on the system
configuration settings
disk space for the memory file and any expanding virtual hard disks
Once the necessary issues have been rectified, try to start the virtual machine again.
If the problem continues, restart the VMMS Service.
To restart the VMMS service using the command prompt:
1. On the computer that has the stopped service, open a command prompt as local administrator and type the following:
net stop nvpswmi
If the service is not running, you will see the error "The Hyper-V Networking Management service is not started."
3. On the command prompt type the following command to start the nvpswmi service
net start nvspwmi
If the service start starts you will see the message "The Hyper-V Networking Management service was start successfully."
To restart VMMS using PowerShell:
1. On the computer that has the stopped service, open a command prompt as local administrator and type the following:
C:\PS>restart-service vmms

Image conversion failed adding profile picture
I just finished my first test install of a Basic Teaming 2.0 site on SLES 11 64bits with SUN's JDK v. 1.6.0_17 and MySql 5.1.39, which went ok. However, when I login and try to add a picture to a profile an X-like image is diplayed instead and I get the following error in the ssf.log file:
WARN [http-8080-2] [com.novell.teaming.docconverter.impl.ImageStellent Converter] - Image conversion failed for testpic.gif: (127) Can't find resource for bundle com.outsideinsdk.ExportResources, key 127
I have not been able to find any info about this in the Doc or forums.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advanceI got your email and as you suspected, your image works fine on a system
that does work.
You mention a "conversion failure". What kind of visual indication are
you getting of that failure? Is anything at all getting posted to the
catalina.out log?
