select username,machine from v$session;LOL
You gave a totally correct answer. Unfortunately not relevant, though.
Now take a look at that answer in context of the question. The question is "given that the environment is 3 tier, and given that the client to the database is an application server, how do we get the information about the client to the application server - one tier further out?"
OP - this is a known problem with current application server configurations and applications. The only current way of providing that info is for the app server to capture and pass that info on. An easy way to pass it on, available to the app developer, is to use the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package.
Perhaps one day the WebLogic Server folk will see fit to make that transparent. ;-) -
How to rename a file in Application server
Hi All,
Here I have a issue with the present file which is being generated in application server.
Before the completion of the file the EDI tool is extracting the file from the app server. So here I would like to generate the file with a temp name and then rename to the actual file name which EDI recognises and fetches.
Please correct me If I am wrong and let me know how to rename the file in application server.
Thanks,
Vijay Nyou can try using unix command , if your application server is unix.
use move command
mv <source> <target>
REPORT ZUNIX line-size 400
no standard page heading.
data: unixcom like rlgrap-filename.
unixcom = 'mv file1 file2'.
data: begin of tabl occurs 500,
line(400),
end of tabl.
data: lines type i.
start-of-selection.
refresh tabl.
call 'SYSTEM' id 'COMMAND' field unixcom
id 'TAB' field tabl[].
or else you can open dataset/ read the dataset and move it to another file and delete the old file. -
Application server File renaming function module creation - sample code
I want to rename a file from application server using function module.
Can somebody tell me is there is any such sap provided function module
is there? If not please tell me what should be abap routine to create such
a function module.
Thanks in advance....You need to create a logical file name using FILE transaction. Then create a logical path and assign the physical path (actual path on app. server) to the logical path. While defining the physical filne name you have the option of selecting from the list of 'reserved word' available. For e.g. <DATE>, <TIME> etc.
Steps are:
1) Execute transaction 'FILE'.
2) Create a logical file path.
3) Assign Syntax Grp (Operating Systems) to above logical file path. You need to create the syntax group to identify the physical path in the application server. This step actually assigns the physical path to the logical path.
4) Create a logical file.
5) Assign the physical file name to the logical file. You have lots of system reserved word to choose from to suffix your file name with date and time etc.
The physical file name is used by the function module FILE_GET_NAME at runtime to compose a complete platform-specific file name.
For more information, see [renaming a file on the application server;.

Rename the file in application server
Hi Experts,
I want to rename the file which is in Application Server.
E.g:- Current File in Application Server is '\user\sd\file1'
I want to change the above file name to '\user\sd\file1_old' in Application Server.
Please help me if any one aware of this.
Thanks & Regards,
ChanduHello,
What you want to do is execute a command on the host operating system.
This can be done with function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
This module will execute commands that have been predefined in SAP. To see what is available look in SM49.
If you have the autorizations you can create your own or ask for it to be created.
More general information can be found [here|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/CreationofExternalCommandswiththehelpofUNIXCodingin+SAP].
Hope this is helpful. -

Change hostname and IPaddress of Oracle Application server node
Hello,
We have oracle application server on windows 2003 os. Recently we changed the ip address and hostname of the computer. We have only forms and reports in the application server. Database server is on other node. I have changed the ipaddress and hostname using chgiphost.bat -mid in $ORACLE_HOME/chgip/scripts. The host name and ipaddress was change successfully. Now, when I see the status using opmnctl status, it still shows me the old host name.
Please let me know how to update the new hostname and ipaddress.
Thanks.

How to Rename the file in the application server?
Hi friends.
How to Rename the file in the application server? via abap program so pls kindly let me know thr any function module is there.
Thanks
With Regards
I.Muthukumar.Dont think there is any quick fix way of doin this, however you can use the following sequence of dataset ops to get what you need:
READ DATASET - retrieve contents of current AS file
TRANSFER DATASET - create a new file on AS with the contents read in READ
DELETE DATASET - delete the original file on AS (if TRANSFER above is successful)
Hope this approach helps.

Renaming Application Server Instance
Is it possible to rename an application server instance? If so how? For example, if I have an application server instance called INFRA.host.domain.com, I need to rename the host to host2, so I therefore want the application server instance renamed to INFRA.host2.domain.com.
Can this be done without a re-install?Hi Brian,
Changing the host name for an infrastructure node will not work. Check out chapter 8 (Changing Network Configurations) of the admin guide for more info.

How to delete the record in the file present in the application server?
Hi,
I have two questions.
i) How can I delete a record based on some condition in the recordx in the file that is present in the application server?
ii) How can I lock the users whiel one user is accessing the file on the application server?
Thanks in advance.
SuvanHi,
If u want a frequent deletion this approach to delete a record from a file will havee unnecesary copy of records from one file to another and deletion of one file and renaming activities.
Instead what u can do is Add and field del_flag to ur record structure.
If u want to delete the record from a file just mark this del_flag as 'X'.
While processing u can have a loop like
loop at it_XXX where del_flag <> 'X'.
endloop.
This will logically delete the record.
When u r to finish the application at that time only perform this copying / deleting / and renaing activity
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Error 503 after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server
We renamed a SharePoint Foundation 2013 server using the procedure outlined here:
http://www.bluesphereinc.com/blog/renaming-a-sharepoint-20102013-server/
Everything seemed to work fine until we tried to access the site afterwards. Now all we get when trying to access the site is the Error 503: Service is unavailable message. We can get into central administration without any problems.Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered 503 error after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server.
For your issue, please refer to the actions as follow:
1.Check the web site properties in IIS. Under home directory tab, check the application pool value and then open that application pool from the application pools (separate node in the IIS tree). Click the
identity tab and see who is the pool assigned to. For the sake of testing, you can select "Predefined" and select local service from the drop down. Restart IIS and see if things work out for you. Http 503 error is generated by the IIS and it happens
when web server sends data stream back to the web site.
2.Verify that all SharePoint services are started, this error might occur because of changing the service account password. You may need to change the new password to application pool or SharePoint timer
service. Click the stopped application pool -> click advanced settings ->Identity ->click the user to retype the user ->Application Pool Identity dialog ->click set -> manually type the user name and password. Then restart the server.
If your issue persists, please provide detail error message of ULS log
to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

Access to application server in SM51 request access logon
Hi Guys,
I installed an application server in windows with DB server in iseries V5R4M0.
The App instance run OK, but when i try access to SM50 app instance in SM51 the system request access data.
I put the logon data and y can entry to SM50 transaction app Instance.
I read the note 90323 and SAP recommends have the same kernel level in all servers. But due to my heterogeneous system i can´t have the same kernel release.
I don´t know if the logon request is mandatory in heterogeneous system when i try access to other servers in R/3 system or i need solve an issue.
I have a R/3 4.6C system with Application server with Win 2003.
Regards,
Ernesto Castro.Hi Ernesto,
your problem will not only occur with SM51->SM50, it will occur everywhere, where SAP is using RFCs to run ... You are having installed your appl server incorrect. I bet, that the DB server on i5 and the DB-server name on windows differ ... most likely in upper-lowercase ...
Just check the hostname on i5 with cfgtcp option 12 and on windows with "set" as sidadm and you should see a difference in the cases there ;-(
It is not totally easy to fix that, as the DB-server on windows is stored in the registry.
