Access to application server in SM51 request access logon

Hi Guys,
I installed an application server in windows with DB server in iseries V5R4M0.
The App instance run OK, but when i try access to SM50 app instance in SM51 the system request access data.
I put the logon data and y can entry to SM50 transaction app Instance.
I read the note 90323 and SAP recommends have the same kernel level in all servers. But due to my heterogeneous system i can´t have the same kernel release.
I don´t know if the logon request is mandatory in heterogeneous system when i try access to other servers in R/3 system or i need solve an issue.
I have a R/3 4.6C system with Application server with Win 2003.
Regards,
Ernesto Castro.

Hi Ernesto,
your problem will not only occur with SM51->SM50, it will occur everywhere, where SAP is using RFCs to run ... You are having installed your appl server incorrect. I bet, that the DB server on i5 and the DB-server name on windows differ ... most likely in upper-lowercase ...
Just check the hostname on i5 with cfgtcp option 12 and on windows with "set" as sidadm and you should see a difference in the cases there ;-(
It is not totally easy to fix that, as the DB-server on windows is stored in the registry.

  • Sun Application Server 9 with https

I want to run my Web application with https. When users access
http://www.myweb.com, I want the Web server to automatically redirect to https://www.myweb.com. However, I am running into a few issues:
    1. How do I tell Application Server 9 to create a listener on the default port. Right now, I have the listener using port 80 - users will have to enter https://www.myweb.com:80. I don't want to require them to enter :80. I thought a listener on 80 automatically listens to URLs, even if they don't include that port. But, when I type in the URL without port, all I get is a "Gateway Timeout Error". What do I need to do to set up the port correctly?
    2. In the screen where I set up the listener, I checked the "Security: Enabled" check box. Now, when I load the Web application, the listener listens on https:. Now, how do I tell the application server to forward requests for http:// to https://?
    Thank you!

I think I got it to work. Here is my solution: http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=23294&tstart=0
Mike, I am trying to award to you Duke Stars, but the server returns a "server error" (http://forum.java.sun.com/rewards.jspa?doActions=reward&threadID=5138687&messageID=9514552&dukes=10) when I click on the duke. Sorry! I'll try again in a few days.

  • InfoSpoke fails with message "Could not open file on application server"

    BW Experts,
I created an InfoSpoke that is configured to extract to a flat file. The name of the file is specified using a logical filename. During extraction, the infospoke reports the error message "Could not open file on application server" adnd  marks the extraction process as red(failed). I have tried to run the InfoSpoke in background mode and in dialog mode and the same error appears. After i run in dialog mode, i checked SU53 for authorization errors and did not find any. I also tried changing the Logical filename setup in transaction FILE to a more "friendly" directory in which i'm sure i have authorizations (e.g. my UNIX home directory) and im still getting errors.
Can you please share your thoughts on this? Any help will greatly appreciated. I also promise to award points.

    Hi Nagesh,
    Thanks for helping out.
If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to a file using "File Name" option and also check the "Application server" checkbox, the extract works correctly (extraction to the defualt SAP path and filename=infospoke name). If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to the local workstation, the InfoSpoke also works correctly. It's only when i configure it to download to the application server and use the "Logical filename" option, that i encounter a failed extract.

  • ARCHITECTURE OF SAP R/3 AND APPLICATION SERVER AND DATABASE SERVER IN ABAP

ARCHITECTURE OF SAP R/3 AND APPLICATION SERVER AND DATABASE SERVER IN ABAP?
    PLEASE EXPLAIN

    hi
    <b>Presentation Server</b>
It is actually a program named sapgui.exe.
It usually installed in user’s workstation.
The interface accepts the input from the user in the form of keystrokes, mouse-clicks, and function keys, and sends these requests to the application server.
It receives and displays the result from the application server.
    <b>Application Server</b>
An application server is a set of executables that collectively interpret the the ABAP/4 programs.
Each application server has a profile called application server profile, that specifies its characteristics when it starts up and while it is running. It specifies:
    1. Number of processes and its types.
2.Amount of memory each process may use.
    3. Length of time a user is inactive before being automatically logged off.
If your ABAP/4 program requests information from the database, the application server will format the request and send it to the database server
    <b>Database Server</b>
The database server is a set of executables that accepts database requests from the application server.
These requests are passed on to the RDBMS (Relation Database Management System).
The RDBMS sends the data back to the application server.
The RDBMS  may run on database server’s computer or may be installed on its own computer.
The components of application server are dispatcher, dispatcher queue, work process.
All requests that come in from presentation servers are directed first to the dispatcher.
The dispatcher writes them to the dispatcher queue.
The dispatcher pulls the requests from the queue on a first-in, first-out basis.
Each request is then allocated to the first available work process.
A work process handles one request at a time.
The work process needs two memory areas, the user context and the roll area.
The user context is a memory area that contains the information about the user.
The roll area is a memory area that contains about the program execution.
    <b>User Context</b>
User context is a memory area that contains the characteristics of a user that is logged on the R/3 system.
    1)It holds,     user’s current settings.
    2. The users authorizations.
    3. The names of the programs the user is currently running.
When a user logs on, the user context is allocated for that logon. When logs off, it is freed.
    <b>Roll Area     </b>
A roll area is a memory that is allocated by a work process for an instance of a program.
It holds the information needed by R/3 about the program execution, such as:     1. The values of the variables
    2. The dynamic memory allocations
    3. The current program pointer.
Each time a user starts a program, a roll area is created for that instance of the program.
If two users are using the same program at the same time, two roll areas will exist-one for each user.
The roll area is freed when the program ends.
Both roll area and the user context play an important roll in dialog processing

  • Error  while accessing the application server file

    Hello,
When I try to load the data from CSV file to PSA , I am getting following error message
"Error  while accessing the application server file"
    "Errors in source system"
I gave the right file path
I am not sure about this error message.
    Thanks,

    Hi ram,
if you have more than one application server running in your BI system (see at transaction SM51) be aware that your infopackage will be executed on the right one. Each application server has its own file system and your job need to run on the server your file is stored on.
Also check if the os user of the SAP system itself (<sid>adm on Unix) has rights to read that file.
    Bye

  • Data access from Application Server - Seeking Opinion

I am working on a fairly large scale ERP application that is written in Java both on the front end, and middle tier ( using a JBoss application server ).
All of the database access happens in my app server, and when I wanted to get peoples opinions on the best way to extract and pass data to and from the database from the app server, and of course to and from the client.
I am using JDBC to make database calls and extra data from the database. This is of course pretty trivial. And I first started writing POJO that represent tables in my database. I then wrote a faily length method that uses reflection to call the setting methods and pass in the objects returned from the database result set. This of course becomes tricky when you start to join multiple tables together. And often you only need a small subset of columns in a table and don't require an object with all the columns from the table ( some set, and some as null objects ).
So then I decided I was use a combination of ArrayList objects and HashMap's to store the data. If a result set returned multiple rows, it would return an ArrayList of HashMap objects. Each hash map would contain the data for that row, and the hash map keys are the column names.
This seems to work pretty well and resolves the problem of joining multiple tables together and keeping track of which columns get stored in which objects.
Does anyone have a different solution or idea as to how to handle this? And thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you had a table that had 40 columns in it and say 1000 rows. And you needed to run a query that returned all 1000 rows, but you only needed two out of the
40 columns. Would it be better to extract those two columns into the HashMap / ArrayList collection I mentioned in my original post? Or would using something like Hibernate and a class that mapped all of the columns in the table be okay? Why not just map the columns you needed in Hibernate? Who said you had to map all 40 and have them be null?
    My concern is on efficiency,
and I was wondering if building 1000 objects that each have 40 members that only 2 are populated is the most efficient way of extracting the data.Doesn't sound very efficient.
I will admit, my knowledge of Hibernate is limited at best so I may be missing a component of Hibernate that would allow you to only extract the columns you required, but you are still working with an object that has 38 null value objects for the columns you didn't require.I don't believe you're required to map every column in a table.

  • To access pdf files from application server using web.show_document

    Hello!
If my pdf file is copied in Oracle_home/forms90/java directory. Then using web.show_document i can access the pdf file. But I can't copy all the pdf files in /forms90/java directory. We have lacs of pdf files which I want to keep in my own directory. But my requirement is if my pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in (Linux application server) ie in my own directory where I store all the pdf files. Then web.show_document does not open the pdf file.It says page cannot be displayed. For that I think we have to configure the directory /home2/docs directory as a webserver. From otn I got something like forms90.conf file in application server where we have to set virtual directory mapping etc.If the pdf is in local machine then in orion-web.xml file we have to mention real path and save the file and shutdown oc4j instance and restart it again.I tried it.But it is not working. Can u give me step by step instructions to solve this problem.I found a few links in discussion forum. But is doesn't work out.My pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in Linux application server. Please treat it as urgent.

    Hi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Access log

    Hi,
I've deployed an Enterprise Application on 10g Oracle Application Server. But the Issue is that I'm unable to access the Application Login Page and the browsers give me the error, that the Page you are trying to access does't exist.
Now I want to diagnose where the actual issue resides and for this; we have to first look at Logs. Kindly tell me where the Oc4J logs or access logs for Application Server are made so that I can check them and try to solve the issue.
    Regards,
    Kamran

    hi Kamran
To see access.log or error.log , check the following:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs
    tail -f access.log
and to check application log for your oc4j_instance, try the following generic address:
    $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/instance_name/application-deployments/application_name/application.log
so if your application name is BI_FORMS then use that above.
    hope that helps!
