Rename or change PDF attachment when submitting via email

Hi everybody,
I have successfully created a form using LC 8.2.1 and I am able to submit it by email.
My only problem is that I want to change or rename the attached PDF file before submitting it as it gets named automatically by the program. And I don't want it to be renamed automatically.
Is there a way to do this?
I have managed to customize the email subject and the body, but I'm failing to get the attached file renamed. I use the following code to customize both the email subject and the body:
Button1.event__click.resolveNode("#submit").target="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Testing Form 2";
Thank you very much

Skydiver119 makes a very good point. The built in PDF reader and the iBooks app will not read fillable form fields in a PDF, so you need a third party app for those types of PDF files. I use Adobe Reader for PDf files. It is free, it allows for annotation, you can create folders, highlighting, form fields, adding a signature, renaming, etc. It's a great app and certainly worth a look.

  • PDF form online but when submitted via email, received as XML

    I'm trying to include a pdf form, created in Designer, on my website where guests can fill out the form and then hit the submit button and the form is emailed to me. Currently, I am linking to the form like it is another web page.
    When the form is emailed to me, it is in the XML format. Once the file is opened, it gives me instructions on how to view it. It says to open the original pdf form and somehow place the xml data into it. Isn't there an easier way?
    I would like to receive the "filled out" form as a pdf via email so I can just open it up with reader and print it. Others, that are more technically challenged will be receiving the "filled out" form also. The easier the better. thanks in advance

    A PDF that has been Reader Extended activates latent Adobe Reader functionality such as save filled in forms, annotate, sign, and submit interactive Adobe PDF documents. For more info see

  • PDF attachment are corrupted via email.

    When I open a PDF attachment via my emails it's corrupted with different colors over the page and I can't read it. Opening the same document from my laptop has no problem. I have also had the attachment resent. My iPad never had this problem until recently.

  • Dunning letter (email) PDF attachment or body of email

    Hi experts,
    What is the industry practice for dunning letters when sent via email? Attach them as a pdf to the email, or add all the content of the dunning letter to the body of the email to make it easier for the customer to receive the message?
    Thanks,
    Mario

    Hi Mario,
    It all depends on the functionality that and payment option that are provided.
    If the dunning letters contains and payment/remittance slip(through which customer can make payment in bank, outlet or post office) than the letter should go as PDF attached to mail with body saying that its the reminder for payment being missed,
    But if the payment option is not like as described above than you can send the the letter in html body mail.

  • I used to be able to send document as a PDF or Word Document via email using the toolbar.

    I used to be able to send Pages documents as a PDF or Word Document via email using the Pages toolbar (not the iWork feature).  Lately, it hasn't been working at all.  No email pops up; just nothing.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any solutions?  I'm running Pages '09 version 4.1.

    This Apple Express Helper is a dumb one.
    File names with # and $ are perfectly treated by the share to Mail feature.
    What is rejected is the slash (/) and it's perfectly normal.
    Since the delivery of the first version of OS X, slash is an illegal character in file names.
    Apple thought that it would be fair to build a piece of code taking care of such chars because they were valid ones in the older operating systems.
    But they expected that users will drop these chars. Alas they didn't and users like you are continuing to play with matches.
    At last, OS X 10.7 removed the extraneous code and now, hosanna, iWork refuse to export files whose name contain the infamous slash.

  • Facing problem with logo in the PDF attachment when sending mail...

    hi friends,
    i'm facing problem with logo in the PDF attachment to the mail.
    my requirement:
    1. enter spool number and mail id in the selection screen.
    process:
    1. now the program will fetch the spool data and converts it to PDF.
    2. but when i'm trying to send mail with this PDF as attachment.
    when i open the PDF file from the mail, logo is not coming properly (looks disturbed).
    can anyone help me how to resolve this issue...
    thanks in advance, murashali.

    hi dinakar, thanks for your mail...
    logo looks good in spool/script/smartform.
    even it look good when i download this spool to pdf and to the presentation server as pdf file.
    i'm using CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.
    when i used CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF, is gives a msg - 'spool number not found'.
    here i'm using folloing code to pass pdf to the function module: SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
    code:
    Transfer the 132-long strings to 255-long strings
      lt_mtab_pdf[] = pdf[].
      LOOP AT lt_mtab_pdf INTO lwa_mtab_pdf.
        TRANSLATE lwa_mtab_pdf USING ' ~'.
        CONCATENATE lv_gd_buffer lwa_mtab_pdf INTO lv_gd_buffer.
        CLEAR lwa_mtab_pdf.
      ENDLOOP.
      TRANSLATE lv_gd_buffer USING '~ '.
      DO.
        lwa_mess_att = lv_gd_buffer.
        APPEND lwa_mess_att TO lt_mess_att.
        CLEAR lwa_mess_att.
        SHIFT lv_gd_buffer LEFT BY 255 PLACES.
        IF lv_gd_buffer IS INITIAL.
          EXIT.
        ENDIF.
      ENDDO.
    NOTE: problem i believe is with ''.  i'm getting this tilt symbol () in my pdf internal table.  here in the above code the line   TRANSLATE lv_gd_buffer USING '~ ' is changing the existing tilt to space.  so my logo is getting disturbed.
    even i tried with REPLACE this tilt with other char, but it doent work.
    can you give any idea...

  • Keeping PDF form format when sending via email

    Hello, I have created a form using Adobe LiveCycle.  It contains a submit button to send the filled out form to a recipient via email.  After numerous draft attempts the form gets converted into an .XML format when it is attached to a new email message.  I want the form to stay as a PDF but LiveCycle indicates the form would need to be sent to an HTTP address.  I don't have such an address.
    Is there some way to force the form to keep its PDF format and be sent via email by the push of a button?
    (I know that you can click File--attach to Email to but I would like to avoid that method).  Thank you.

    Q: Is there some way to force the form to keep its PDF format and be sent via email by the push of a button?
    A #1: Yes, you can use the standard button, set the format to "PDF" and supply the mailto:[email protected] and it will use the client side email software to attach and send the PDF. Note: You will need to enable usage rights on the PDF to allow Adobe Reader users to submit whole PDF format. Normally Adobe Reader users are only allowed to submit the data formats, XML and XDP for LiveCycle forms, and HTML, XFDF and FDF for Acroforms.
    A #2: You can also bypass client-side email software such as OUTLOOK, if you set the submit button action to a URL of a server-side script, such as PHP or ASP.Net. The script could generate an SMTP message, and attach the submission without the use of client-side email software. By using a server-side script, the PDF submission process is almost fool proof.

  • Changing PDF Attachment title

    Hi,
    The program is using OPEN_FORM to send out emails as below:
    Create recipient
        swc_create_object lo_recipient 'RECIPIENT' space.
        swc_set_element lt_container 'TypeID' 'U'.
        swc_set_element lt_container 'DocumentHeader' 'Order'.
        swc_call_method lo_recipient 'CreateAddress' lt_container.
        swc_object_to_persistent lo_recipient ls_persistent_recipient.
    create sender
        swc_create_object lo_sender 'RECIPIENT' space.
        swc_set_element lt_container 'AddressString' z_value.
        swc_set_element lt_container 'TypeID' z_type.
        swc_call_method lo_sender 'CreateAddress' lt_container.
        swc_object_to_persistent lo_sender ls_persistent_sender.
        call function 'OPEN_FORM'
         exporting
              form           = tnapr-fonam
              language       = nast-spras
              options        = itcpo
              archive_index  = toa_dara
              archive_params = arc_params
              device         = xdevice
              dialog         = ' '
              mail_sender    = ls_persistent_sender

            mail_appl_object =
         exceptions
              others         = 1.
    The above code sends out a mail with a PDF attachment whose title is the form name. Instead of the form name, the requirement is to set the title to the document no.
    How to change the title of the PDF attachement in the program?
    Thanks,

    I seriously doubt your control file is a working one. Can you upload your working/correctly formatted file?
    Or check this working sample below. Hope this helps.

  • How do I lock layers in a fillable pdf when sending via email?

    Hi,
    I created a form with several layers.  When you click SUBMIT to MANAGER I have it submiting to the manager, but only the text boxs stay visible and not the text in the layer.  Is there any way to lock the visible layer when submitting?

    How about if the form was created in Adobe but was Reader enabled to be used by clients that have reader?  Is there a script I can run on my submit button that locks the layers?  My text fields and check boxes stay but the layered text disapears

  • Document Signatures and Submiting via email

    Hi,
    My issue involves submitting an email and populating a document signature.
    Using javascript I've set the preSubmit field to have the following line of code:
    Page1.SignatureField1.validate.nullTest = "error";
    I've enabled in Acrobat Professional 8, Enable Usage Rights.
    While testing the form, when I select Submit by Email I get the error saying that "At least one required field was empty on export. Please fill in the required fields (highlighted) before continuing."
    All well and good as this is what I want to occur.
    The problem is once I sign the the document (which is the field that I've set to be validated in the above code), then click submit via email again I still get the above error message.
    I tested this with the other objects such as text fields etc, they all work fine. The problem only occurs while trying to use a document signature field.
    What am I doing wrong?

    You need to remember the password, Adobe software does not offer any back door or password recovery for the creator.
    It is recommended that, when setting certain things for a PDF, you keep the "before" file carefully as well as the "after". These things include security, reader extensions and signatures - all things that can be impossible to undo.

  • Corrupt PDF and other files via eMail?

    Hi Everyone
    Having strange going on with the printers of late.
    I've used the exact same PDF settings for about 7 years and never have an issue.
    I sent a PDF to the printers last week and the printed product had our logo printed incorrectly on it (there wasn't any time for a colour proof).
    What happened was that the logo is built in CMYK, but the logo only printed 100% black areas of the logo - basically the backing of the logo is in black and that's all that printed.
    The printers couldn't explain it and it's the same logo that's been used with other printers around that time and since then.
    All is fine with the logo.
    Today I sent a cover to the printers and there's an advert on the right hand side of the document that has corrupted. I opened the PDF I sent and all is fine.
    The printer emailed me back what I sent to him and that seems to be corrupt - I can't explain it.
    What I have done is sent him a link to download the file from my Dropbox - which bypasses the file hitting the email altogether.
    When they got the file it was perfectly fine and printed just fine.
    As a test I sent the file several friends of mine who all opened it on various machines, and printed it successfully on various devices.
    The only common denominator here is that when I send the printer the file via Email it gets corrupted (nobody else I sent it to experienced any corruption).
    What exactly can an email system/firewall/anti-virus or other variable possibly affect a PDF?
    As a sidenote: I packaged the InDesign file and zipped it and sent that too - and that too got corrupted and the printers could not open it.

    Email notoriously damages PDF files, so I'd recommend using a Dropbox or similar approach as standard.
    The causes of corruption can be very hard to track down and can include subtle incompatibilities between email programs, size limits, failure of email programs to treat PDFs as binary, and automatic processing of email, such as corporate signatures or antispam.

  • LMS3.2 Syslog reports very slow when send via email

    Hello,
    we have ~5000 devices in LMS3.2 and we have a problem with syslog reports.
    When I create a "severity level summary report" for 5000 devices for the last 24hours and select as run type "immediate" it needs ~2-3 minutes. That's ok.
    But when I create exactly the same report and select the run type "once" , it needs ~3 hours. ("Once" means that the report is send via email after it's finished).  It happens with report type "pdf" and "csv".
    What can be the problem ?  Or is it usual ???
    Regards
    Hendrik

    The scheduled reports can output a full list of messages where as the immediate reports output a limit of 10,000 records.  If you have a lot of syslog messages, it can take a considerable amount of additional time to generate a full report.

  • Acrobat hangs when sharing via email. Why?

    I just installed the entire CC suite, including Acrobat 11 (or XI for you 1st century Romans out there). I was somewhat puzzled to see that when I select share by email the PDF still hangs with the spinning beach ball as it has for the two previous versions if not more. Is this a problem with Acrobat, MS Outlook or my particular set-up? It's hard to believe it would be with Acrobat because it has been a problem for at least the last three versions.
    Thanks for any help,
    Mike

    So I'm the only person having this problem or am I the only person sending PDFs via email?
