Renaming Validation-rule.xml and Validation.xml

Hi
Is it possible to rename Validation-rule.xml and validation.xml files in the Struts Validation framework.
will the validation work both the files are renamed to say abc-rule.xml or xyz.xml.
please provide your feedback on this.

Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
give it entry in
struts-config.xml
<message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e
#Error Resources
label.search.ssNum=Plz Enter correct ssNum

Error while Loading the validator-rules.xml in Struts 1.2

Hello Guys,
I am trying to use the Struts 1.2.4 on Jdk1.3 inside WSAD5.1 and i get the following error when loading the application. It breaks on the fist line inside validator-rules.xml witht hte following error. My first line in the validator-rules.xml is

I do have the commons-validator inside the Lib folder. I also tried it out by removing the above reference to dtd in the validator-rules.
Can any one help me with some suggestions on something i am missing.

Where to find validator-rules.xml

A n00b-question, but quite irritating. I've read a few articles on Struts and validation, but where the hell can you find the validator-rules.xml. I assume it's a file that comes packaged with the validator framework, one that you don't need to create yourself. But when I look in the jar-files, I can't find it anywhere. I've googled it too, with no result.

before i add <plug-in ValidatorPlugIn ... everything works fine with tomcat 4.0.4, JDK 1.4.1.02, struts 1.2.4 and Hibernate and MS access. But when I add plug-in to use default validation error occurs.

Enabling Client-Side Validations
In addition to providing a framework for simplifying server-side form data validations, Validator provides an easy-to-use mechanism for performing client-side validations. Each validation routine defined in the validator-rules.xml file optionally specifies JavaScript code that can be run in the browser (client side) to perform the same validations that take place on the server side. When run on the client side, the validations will not allow the form to be submitted until they have all passed.
To enable client-side validation, you have to place the HTML Tag Library's javascript tag in each JSP for which you want validation performed, as shown here:

The javascript tag requires that you use the formName attribute to specify the name of a <form> definition from the validation.xml file, as shown here, for which you want validations performed:

This is the date rule where the logic is written to add the duration CSDURATION to the date type CSCREATDATE.
You will find the date type and duration in the date profile.

We have also expierenced the same problem, or similiar even.
After reading the docs on the opensource website
http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Per-Module+Style+Management
you will find that there is a flag you can set on the compiler arguments as follows:
-isolate-styles=false
by doing this, i think this allows the modules to work as before, inheriting the styles by default from the application.
There seems to be a new way of using the StyleManager in the current release of Flex 4.

Rename CSS rule

Is there an easy way to rename an existing CSS rule (actually, a compound selector) and retain all the properties that were oringally set for that rule. I'd like to simply change a name of a rule to better fit my layout and naming scheme. Better planning up front would have eliminated this problem, but I goofed on the naming conventions. By renaming some of the rules, I can make my whole layout easier to understand and work with.
I tried the "edit selector," function, but when I did that, it deleted all the properties in that rule. For example, I had a container element that had float, margins, padding and text properties in it. When I changed the name using the "edit selector" function, the element no longer floated, the width had changed, etc.
Any help appreciated.

Grab the original name from your CSS file.
Do a CTRL+F to do a search and change Find In: to be Entire Current Local Site.
Type the original name into the Find: field
Type the new name into the Replace: field
Do a Replace All and let Dreamweaver fix all of those for you.
Rename the rule in your CSS file.
Probably seems a bit basic but it's very thorough (DW won't miss anything) and you can see all the files it did a replace inside of in the Search Results panel so if there is one that looks out of place you can look into.
Of course, be careful what you search on. If the CSS rule you want to change is called RedText, you're planning on changing it to text-red and you have another rule called BigRedText then you might end up with a bunch of Bigtext-red throughout your pages. If you can do it this way, I'd suggest using class="RedText" for your search value so that you don't have any of the forementioned whoopsies.

Just to make it more explanatory, lets take few examples for each entity:
1. Business Process (BP):
It can be a department, group or an independent functional unit in an organization. E.g Finance or HR or Material Management.
2. Function:
It can be a set of activites or say set of simlilar activities in a BP. E.g in SAP Security - SU01 and PFCG combination can be termed as a function - "User and role maintenence" .
3. Risk:
It can be a combination of 2 or more functions which when given to a single user, can be harmful to the organization.
4. Rule:
It is generated from Risks automatically. E.g if A and B are 2 funtions in a risk R, such that:
A has transactions X and Y and
B has transactions M and N
so there can be multiple rules generated here for Risk R , with the combinations like X and M rule, X and N rule, Y and M rule, Y and N rule etc.
5. Ruleset:
As the name suggest, is a set of Rules, generated from Risks. Two Rulesets may contain same, similar or dissimilar risks, based on the lanscape for which you want to use the ruleset. E.g you might have ruleset R1 having Risks 1 to N in your development system and you might have ruleset R 2 having Risks 1 to M in your Production system.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer to you know. For more dependencies within these entities and how they behave with eah other, I would suggest if you create each of them and then observe their linkages. The config guide from SAP would be more than enough for this purpose.

NW BRM, Rules Manager and transport the BRM project through the landscape.

I have a question about the working with Rules Manager and the possible difficulties of the changes management.
The scenario is simple.
We have created a BRM project in software component with decision table and initialized it with some values. Then we transported it to the QA and Prod system through the CMS. Note: in the SC not only the BRM project but also a WDJ, for example.
Then business user changes the values in the decision table in Prod system by using Rules Management functionality. Everything is OK till now.
But then we changed something in the WDJ component in the same SC and then transported it to the Pros system. After that transport the changes of the business user are lost. How can we fix it?
Of course we can download the runtime content from the prod system, but it's bit complicated. Any ideas?

SAP NW Business Rules Management web UI tool for business users (Rules Manager) has a feature "Download Rules Content" from CE 7.3 onwards.
Please find the details of the feature in the below link:

Using the above "Download Rules Content" feature of RulesManager, you should be able to import the latest version of the Rules Project, which contains the changes done by the business user, into NWDS. Once you have the modified rules project in NWDS you should be able to transport it to QA and Prod systems without the data loss.
But this feature is only available from NW CE 7.3 onwards.

You cant change the Technical name of the cube but you can change the description of the Cube. If you want to have a Cube with the same properties and with different Techname and Description better you do copy from the base cube and rename as per your requirement.

while in RP..delivery time..lead time...transpotation time are added..

Essbase Rules Files and OCI

Hi All,
I am using EPM 11.1.2.1. I want to use rules files and Sql interface to build outline and load data.
Can anyone please provide / guide me with the steps to connect using ODBC and OCI ? I tried but it gives error
Error: 1021001 Failed to Establish Connection With SQL Database Server. See log for more information

To use OCI you just need to open SQL from the load rule, select "Oracle Call Interface (OCI) Service Name" and enter the connection details as Oracle Call Interface (OCI) Service Name— $OCI$<server_name> , replacing <server_name> with the oracle db server name.
Enter the SQL statement, you can test the connection by clicking "OK/retrieve" and then entering the username and password for connecting to oracle.
Once you are happy you save the rule and it will save the OCI connection, then you can use Maxl like you would with any other SQL load rule.
