Render settings for Vimeo - Animation coming out blurry

Hello All,
I am new to After effect and am currently tinkering on AE CS5.  I have made an infographic animation made up of illustrator graphics.  As I was making the animation the graphics were sharp but once rendered and then uploaded it to vimeo it looks blurry and not sharp.  I have looked high & low for the correct settings to use for vimeo but all seem to be inadequate.
Tech spec: File settings and software
After Effects CS5
1280 X 720 HDV /HDTV 720 29.97
Square pixels
Resolution: Full
8bpc
If someone could please try advise on how to approach this It would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Emm

It has come with After Effects for many versions now.

  • I am converting a .docx file to a pdf and the text is coming out blurry

I am trying to convert a .docx file to a pdf and the text keeps coming out blurry. Some sentences seem to be bolded in the pdf as well. All the colored text seems like there's a shadow behind it and all the text in bold seems extra blurry. I am saving the file as a pdf. I tried to print the file as a pdf but it kept crashing. I have adobe acrobat pro and distiller, but I'm not savy about which program does what.
    Thanks for any help!

If you are trying to convert a Word file, ensure the text is in 100% black only.
To create PDF's there are hundreds of different combinations that can be used, but only a few will give you a good 'print ready' file, which is what I think you may be after.
You may have font issues that are stopping the text looking sharp.
If you have Distiller, you can try to print as .ps (save as postscript), load distiller up and choose one of the high quality settings in the pop down menu.
If you are working on a Mac you can drag and drop the .ps file direcetly on the dock icon for distiller, or if you are running Windows you will need to navigate to the file via the menu bar (you will need to know where you have saved your .ps file).
There may be other issues with the original file format that is causing problems with your PDF creation.
Let me know how you get on.
    Cheers

  • Almost high def video and title menu coming out blurry when project completed

I have been using premeire elements 10 since it came out and have been happy until this week.  I use elements to put together my daughters school performance for archival reasons.  I am working on her latest play and act one was fine and clear when completed earlier this week.  However, act two is coming out blurry, including the title menu and other texts and the burned dvd came out very blurry.  I tried to compare act one and now the title menu preview is also showing a blurry video so I know the burning will be blurry as well.  please help as I'm tired of always redoing the edits.  thank you

Thanks for the great news of your success. Well done.
Best give the Shake Stabilizer a good workout before making your final decisions. Major consideration there are resource demanding feature
and file must match the project preset before the Shake Stabilizer will work. Here is the link to the Adobe document on the new Shake Stabilizer

The first thing of note is the major change in workspaces going from 10 to 11, 12, and 13/13.1. Principles tend to stay the same from version to version, but
the features tend to get moved, deleted, or changed. As I typically write, it is very frustrating to be armed with principles when you cannot find
a feature that you are used to.

  • I'm trying to make "Stop motion videos"  in Final Cut EXPRESS by using 100's of still photos and setting them to music.  They are coming out blurry if viewed larger than 4x6 in size

I'm trying to make "Stop motion videos"  in Final Cut EXPRESS by using 100's of still photos and setting them to music.  They are coming out blurry if viewed larger than 4x6 in size.
I don't understand why this is happening.

Quick follow up, since I was on my phone earlier and am back to a real keyboard.
To access Easy Setup, hit Control Q.
If you click on the blue discosure triangles, a dropdown menu with about a dozen different presets will be displayed. Select the one you want, (Here, I've selected 720P.)
Whatever you select for a preset will not be applied until you make a new sequence. (I don't like to have sequences with different properties in the same project so I prefer to make a new project if I change the Easy Setup.)
Because photo aspect ratios are different than video, I typically put a solid generator of some compatible color on the first track (v1) and put my photos on the track above (v2). Looks better, IMO, than black bars. There are other creative ways to display them. And of course, you could scale them up to fill the frame…but then you probably would have to re-position them.
    Good luck.

  • Any idea when adobe air for mobiles is coming out?

    Hi,
Any idea when adobe air for mobiles is coming out and on what phones will it be available?
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

Sorry, only Apple will know that, Rob; and even if we knew, nobody would be allowed to post it here, before the raw support has been released.
Keep checking this link.  Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
I'm waiting for the Aperture update so I can start playing with my pics.
I can understand, that you are eager to try your new camera - try Adobe's DNG converter, while you are waiting - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintos h
or shoot rwa&jpeg and set the Import panel to import raw&jpeg, with the jpeg as original. YOu can change that later, when the raw support has been released, and use the raw files you imported.

  • Render settings for Blu-Ray in the UK

    Hi all,
Bit of a newbie question regarding render settings for Blu-Ray. If I understand correctly, the uk frame rate is 25fps???? And we generally have 1080p TV's etc??? The Blu-ray presets in Media encoder don't offer this and the fact they don't makes me question if I'm not understanding the required settings correctly. ME does offer a 25fps preset but only in 1080i. So, my question is, what should I be rendering to, to then take the rendered file and author it to play on UK blu-ray players. Incidentaly, does anyone have any recommendations on authoring software. I just need to break it down into several seperate categories as well as being able to play the entire movie so the budget is minimal.
    Many thanks for your help.

Hi, I'm using Mac Blu-rayRipper Pro and iMedia converter as well as Handbrake to get the highest quality transfer from my Blu-ray disks to iTunes and AppleTV. Each disk is a bit of a project as no two are the same in terms of the best method of conversion.
I've put a few details in my blog post on getting Blu-ray to work on my Mac Pro in the UK. Was a bit of an epic journey in the UK as we don't have all the options available in the USA:
    http://www.theapplechap.com/TheAppleChap/Blog/Entries/2010/6/20Getting_the_most_out_of_Blu-ray_on_aMac.html
I also posted a short series of articles about getting the best possible movie conversion in iTunes covering subtitles, metadata and SD-HD tagging. May help so here's the link (to the first one, there are 3 in my blog):

  • Comp & render settings for avi (to eventually dvd)

I wanted to verify my settings.
I have a composition of image sequences (and music) for an animation (30fps, varying resolution).  I need to render this out to an uncompressed YUV avi for delivery to a DVD house to transcode and fab onto NTSC DVD disc.
would it best for me to make my adjustments in the 'Composition Settings' (width: 720, height: 480, PAR: 0.91, frame rate: 29.97)?
or should I do this in the 'Output Module' (format: AVI (Uncompressed UYVY), resize: 720 x 480) and 'Render Settings' (frame rate: 29.97)?
I'm not quite certain how the timing/frame rate will be affected by doing it in the Comp or at Render, is it the same? Or whether at render time adjustments will be made to the Pixel Aspect Ratio?
The final avi should look distorted on a computer monitor correct?

I used a combination of setting the composition to 720x480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 0.91 and transformed the animation to fit.
then i rendered out to AVI (UYVY) and set the frame rate in the 'Render Settings' to 29.97.
The result looks undistorted on my computer screen.  And when i loaded it up in GSpot, I see that the frame rate and resolution are correct (29.97, 720x480), but the Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) is 1 (square pixel).  I didn't receive any warning telling me that that PAR conversion occurred.
Also I'm a bit unclear on the PAR, I understand that NTSC uses rectangular pixels (0.91) while computer monitors use square pixels (1).  So I assume we set our compositions to 720x480 (3:2) with a 0.91 PAR so that they'll stretch to 4:3 when watched on a TV correct?
again, my more pressing question is what settings should I have to export to an AVI for eventual NTSC broadcast.

  • Render settings for presentation on computer.

I am making a presentation of Student interviews for a local high school graduation.  I rendered it down and played it on my Macbook pro, and the words are out of sync.  I used a Canon 5d MK2 (1080p, 30 frames, 48k) It looks great and is in sync in premiere.
What is the best render setting to keep the highest quality and keep the sync??
    I have tried a few render settings such as h.264 720p 44.1
The playback will be on my laptop, using quicktime.
My laptop has 2gb of ram, with 2.2 core duo processor.
    HELP

I don't know if these are the highest quality but I didn't have any issues using either H264 widescreen with audio settings at 48k or Quicktime with 48k exporting from PrPro in Windows for playback on a Mac using Quicktime. The Quicktime file didn't look as good using Quicktime player for Windows, and  the H264 looked fine on both QT for PC and Mac. The sync issue could have been from using 44.1 instead of 48k audio.

  • Why are my prints coming out blurry

i am trying to make 8x10 prints of my edited work and they are coming out pixelated...what is this image size feature? do i need to adjust the numbers to get a better quality print?

Is your monitor calibrated and profiled with a hardware device?  If not, all bets are off - it's always going to be a bit hit and miss as to how prints look compared to any particular program.  However, if you're not using colour management (with printer profiles) then here's one thing that may make Lightroom print more like Epson software.  When you print in LR, in the "Print Job" settings (bottom right of print module), try setting (in Color Management) the profile to sRGB (probably sRGB IEC61966-2.1).  First time, you'll probably have to choose "Other..." and find sRGB from a long list.
By default, LR sends images to the printer in ProPhoto colour space, and non-managed printer driver software often won't cope (resulting in dark desaturated prints).  Force LR to send the image in sRGB and it's more likely to be about right.

  • Channel strip "settings" for aux or main out  ... not showing in Library

    Hi Guys
One of the things I love about the "settings" box at the top of each audio channel is that you can click on it, and then use the Library list on the right of the screen to pick through the settings and even try them out in real time...
I want to do the same thing for some of my Aux channels or even sometimes the Main Out channel, but there doesn't seem to be a way of clicking on the "settings" button for these channels and seeing what's available for them in the Library.
Does anyone know what I'm missing here? At the moment I seem to have to HOLD the settings button, and then choose from the category and then choose the effect. Which is fine if you know what you're looking for, but if you want to just go through various effects and try them while the song plays, this is kind of tedious.
If you can shed light on this, that would be awesome!
    Cheers,
    Mike
PS - 8 days in to my switch from Cubase 4 to Logic 8 and the initial feeling of "what have I done? I feel lost, bring back Cubase" has turned into "Why didn't I do this sooner?!"... Logic is AMAZING! And Cubase now seems so clumsy...

    Hey Jorge,
Thanks for the reply - yep, it's cool to be able to save strip settings for aux strips and for the main out as well, to make "my" sound and keep my songs consistent.
However there are some really great pre-set settings for these strips. They can be accessed the "slow" way by holding the "Setting" box at the top of the strip, and then choosing a category and from there a preset.
But I really want to be able to go through these preset strips quickly by using the Library... you can do this for normal audio channels, and it's great to say be able to click through "bass" presets one after the other while your bass audio track is playing...
But for the aux and settings strips, I can't get the "settings" to show up as a list in the Library...
Does anyone know how this is done?!
    Cheers and thanks,
    Mike

  • Best Render Settings for my iMac?

I am running Motion 5 on a 20-inch Early 2009 iMac (the model right before the screen was made edge-to-edge).
    Here are my specs:
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
I am not familiar with the render settings in Motion and was wondering what settings I should use to get the best performance.

    hi,
it depends on what you have going on in your project as well. Use the render settings that give you the most fliudity for your current project. And / or you can select a play range and only render view that part as you work on. Its more dependant on your RAM anyway, since a rendered project is loaded into RAM to play.

  • Need help with best render settings for project

    Hi everyone,
I am completely new to after effects and premiere.
    1. I am working on a premiere project with 1440 x 1080 mpeg2 footage from a Sony hdr-fx1000, in my premiere project my sequence settings are HDV 1080i30 (60i).
    2. I export a clip with under these same settings.
    3. I open a new composition in after effects with the following settings: preset: HDV 1080 29.97 (same as footage)
    4. I time stretch using pixel motion
    5. What are the best render settings and output module settings to use if I want to import the modified clip back into my premiere project?
PS I've been trying to output to mpeg2 but when i check the properties on the clip it says .mv2 and it looks choppy.
    Thanks in advance!

BTW, if you're new to After Effects, I very strongly recommend that you work your way through the getting-started materials here:

  • Render settings for audio for film in After Effects

    Hi there,
I am trying to export my film with dialogue. My original audio file is in WAV which is CRISP! And when I add it to the video in AE and export it, it reduces in quality atleast 10x!
When I rendered it in quicktime with uncompressed codec, it turned out pretty close to the original.
But the file size was.....3GB!! (The film is 7 minutes long). But when I render it using H.264 using AAC, the audio sounds horrible and rough.
Also, which audio codec do I use? What's the difference between AAC, AAC Version 1 and AAC Version 2? How can I reduce the file size without losing out on SO MUCH quality?
Thanks for the help in advance!
    Cheers,
    Nikhita
P.S: I have used 48KHz, Stereo and 32 float for the original as well as the export settings. It's the codec that's messing things up. So help!

The final audio mixing has been done in Adobe Audition, and exported as a wav file. Is there a standard preset which will not destroy the sound quality while shrinking the file size? I tried using H.264. The image quality is great but the sound is terrible as H.264 doesn't have great audio codecs. What preset should I use for good sound AND good audio with a decent file size?
