Rendering location and text

I am rendering village locations using marker style and text style. I am using mapviewer11ea.Following is the xml format of this.

Now it renders village location and village name without any problem. For identifying feature [getting informtion of selected village] I need to hilite this location and place marker where the mouse has clicked. For placing marker i am using mapviewer.addPointFeature(...) and for hiliting the selected village I am using mapViewer.addJDBCTheme(...) methods. But in the both the cases the text[village name] will go off [ text will disappear].
Please give me suggession to solve this

It is my understanding currently there is no support for rendering maps with rotated markers and texts. It would be nice if this functionality is supported. When will this be supported?

You can use the API method addTextStyle to create a dynamic text style where you can pass a size based on the map scale. But you have to compute this size on your application. Then assign this text style as your theme label style.

In Textedit, how do I copy a hyperlink url, but only copy the link location and not the link text?

Suppose I have a list of hyperlinked internet URL's. I want to extract their Internet addresses -- the link locations -- which are essentially hidden in the link text. Is there any way to select and copy the list of hyperlinks, but only copy the link locations, and not the link text?
For example, with the links:

Google

What I really want to copy are: "http://www.whitehouse.gov/", "http://www.google.com/", and "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2737556".

I figured out how to do it. First, copy the hyperlinks onto a blank RTF document in TextEdit and save the file.
Second, open the file from within TextEdit, and make sure that the box "Ignore rich text commands" is checked in the open file dialog box. In the open document, the hyperlinks from my example in my first post will look like this:

Third, use the Automator function, "Get URLs From Text," to create a service, which I called "Get URLs From Text," that receives text from any window, gets the URLs, and copies the result to the clipboard:
Fourth, select the entire page above, and go to TextEdit > Services to activate the "Get URLs" service.
Fifth, create a new TextEdit document, and paste the result.
The output is exactly what I wanted, the URLs -- i.e., the link locations -- of the three web pages, without the link text.
Another utility that will extract URLs is CopyPaste Pro, which has an innate ability to extract Internet addresses from either web pages or text pages.

Odd rendering of SWING and text

I am buffled. We have a compiled application that's been performing great on hundreds of other machines. Yesterday 2 of machines produced similar behavior-swing components do not render the way they should.
Eg. Tabbed pane tabs are larger than the default, text boxes appear wider, and text is situated in a very odd manner.
Here's a screenshot.
you can tell that the problem involves only some text boxes, tables, combo boxes, howeber, buttons seem to be generally unaffected.
Does anyone know what interferance may cause this?

We're using packaged JRE, so technically there should be no conflict with other versions.
OS-Windows XP, well tested, well behaved on all other machines. User settings-the machine (at least according to their IT) is an image. Other images behave as expected.Well there's got to be a reason why this displays differently on just one machine, and if you are running the same code, then this can only be a difference in configurations.

File location and name

If I use iPhoto to import files from my camera where are the files actually stored and how do I change the actual file name? I have figured out how to change the picture title but it does not change the file name.
If I use iPhoto to import pictures from the hard drive do they get copied to the iPhoto file location or just linked? When I moved to the mac I created a folder named "old laptop stuff" and moved everything to that folder. I am now trying to organize all of this stuff on the mac. Can I delete the picture files from the old laptop stuff folder after using iphoto to import and organize them?

As you can see the structure is now related to rolls. Rolls are created for each folder you import and each import session from a camera.
It is very easy to change the names of film rolls within iPhoto to make them easier to find images within. Open the info panel in iPhoto by clicking on the "i" icon. Once it is opened, click on the roll title in the viewing window.
Click on the word "title" in the info pane and type in your new title. I like to use a date and text format such as 12/25/05 Christmas at Mom's, 1/05/06 my birthday, etc. Once the roll names are changed within iPhoto, they are also changed within the Finder, making it easy to locate an image.
When importing from a camera, make sure you name the roll with a date and text before the import.
You can add titles in iPhoto, but as you found out only iPhoto sees these new titles. To do what you want you have to name the photos before importing into iPhoto. Either download to the computer with your camera software or use Image Capture (found in your Applications folder) to download the photos.
Launch Image Capture (keep the little window open that says no camera is connected or IC will quit if you close the window)
Go to Image Captures preferences and choose what you want to happen when a camera is connected.
Next time a camera is connected, if you chose Image Capture to open, then IC will open and download the photos.
Rename your photos then import them into the library
You can choose to do it either way when you first use iPhoto (this is new in version 6)
If you choose to copy into the library when importing, then the photos are copied into the library (iPhoto Library folder in the Finder)
After you have imported all those folders of images, you can then delete the folder.

Questions on tracking iphone and viewing pictures and texts

is it possible to track the location of another persons iphone? also is it possible to look up past texts/picture messages on a persons iphone to "spy"?

You can track any iPhone with find my friends app but each owner has to approve the location app also I don't know of anything short of a court order that will let someone else see what you are doing on the phone. Now any iPhone or apple device that you know the I d and password for can be tracked from the cloud if they have find my iPhone enabled and anyone with access to the bill can see numbers of callers and texts although iMessages do not show up on the bill they can be set up to go to another apple device as well as your iPhone if they are set up to go to an apple I d instead of a phone number and the iPhone can have more than one numbers messages if they are using the same iTunes account

Display key and text by WAD command in custom structure hierarchy

Hi everybody,
I have a query using a custom structure with hierarchy layout. As usual the structure does only display its text as descriptions but I can enable the display the key in BEx Web by right-click on the analysis item --> Properties --> Characteristic --> Display. Unfortunately these setting can not be defined directly in the structure within the Query Designer.
For a workaround I put the query into a web template, in which I used the Set Presentation (SET_PRESENTATION) command to enable key and text display from the start. Hence I put that command in the wem template parameters Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING). Everything is working properly and makes me very happy.
But... there is one thing missing, I would like to implement... I want a toggle button, which allows the user to switch between key and text display and text display. Unfortunately setting the same command from Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING on a various button does not working. The button command only affects data rows of the leaves of the structure hierarchy. All parent nodes do not change their appearance.
Any ideas how to solve this?

Hi - Need advice on placing pictures and text within DIV's

I am new to CSS and am creating DIV's to structure my page.
I am trying to do two things and i imagine the solution will be similar or the same for both issues.
Firstly I have created a container DIV in the centre of my page, within that I would like to place pictures and text.
My questions are
How do i get one DIV to sit beside another one? it is defaulting to sitting underneath it, I have adjusted the box size etc.
When adding text I would like it to sit next to the picture (located in the top left corner) it is currently sitting below the picture.

You can create a class to float the picture left, something like this:

    margin-left: 0;
When it's floated left the text will be next to it.
Your markup would be:

Then add the text.

HELP! Fuzzy images and text in Muse

Hi
I am going to preface this post by admitting that I am a complete amateur, just trying to create a simple but work-able and professional looking website for my business.
I am new to Muse (previously used a similar program to create my sites) and have found navigating around the program quite easy. BUT my whole site looks fuzzy.. In 'design' mode and also when previewed (both in Muse and in browser).
I would really appreciate any help that you could give me. If there is a way to upload it to a temporary site for you to give me advice? Or if I can send the .muse file to someone to check for me?

A couple questions:
1) I expect you're on a Retina Mac?
2) Text appears to be images or System fonts? Whenever possible you want to use a Web Font. If none of the Web Font choices fit your need, then check the "Web Safe" fonts. If you still come up dry, then use a System font as a last resort. When using a system font Muse will convert it to an image. This will result in slower page load times in the browser and (in some cases) lower quality rendering of the type. Whenever possible, if you use a System font, you'll want to set the fill on the text frame to be opaque (a solid fill color, 100% opaque gradient or 100% opaque image that fills the complete text frame). If the text frame contains any transparent areas, then the image version of it will have lower quality anti-aliasing, edges, on the type.

Pdf (with graphics and text) in the email body

When I place an pdf (with graphics and text) in the body of my email using Mac Mail my recipient sees them as attachments only. I am trying to find a way of presenting a formatted email with graphics that will appear the same way to all recipients, but a pdf frequently ends up being an attachment instead of staying in the body. The pdf file doesn’t seem to always show up in the body as created. Is there a better way to accomplish this?

You have no control over how your email maybe rendered by other email servers and client side software.
Attachment Tamer may give you a few more options but it does not guaranty the end result.

InputText renders as just text when readOnly set to true

Apparently when a <af:inputText> component's readOnly attribute is set to true, the component renders as plain text rather than a text box whose readOnly attribute is set to true. Oracle's ADF tag definition site makes no mention of this 'feature' (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/tagdoc/core/inputText.html) but I remember reading it somewhere, I believe in some of the documents that came with an ADF faces download.
And if I had not happened to come across this information somewhere, I would otherwise think this was a bug. But either way, I don't think this is the way it should perform. If I specify a field on a page to be inputText, I expect it to be a text box, regardless of whether I want it readOnly or not. I think its a bad assumption on ADF's part to completely change the rendering of the component.
I want to render text inside a textbox on a page, but make it read only. And I am using it within the confines of a <af:forEach> so I am using the var parameter, and thus am forced to use Oracle's components so the forEach var parameter is recognized. So it appears to me I cannot render the field how I want. I dont see any other Oracle components to render this.
Is this going to be changed or is there a way to submit something to Oracle to have this addressed?

FYI...if I use the disabled attribute instead, thankfully the component still renders as a textbox. Obviously it renders grayed out, but at least I still get a textbox with text in it.
But the readOnly attribute still, I feel, performs badly. So my question still stands, are there plans to change it or can it be addressed? Maybe when Apache takes full control of the library, it will be changed...

Broadcast/SD Titles and Text: Workflow

I'm curious what, when doing Broadcast Titles and Text, is your workflow.
Do you exclusively make slates in Illustrator etc.? Do they look significantly better and function better for Broadcast product than making same in LIveType or Motion. Is there a big quality advantage in Vector based Titles/Text
Do you make any of your Titles/Text in LiveType or Motion.
Is there another workflow for high quality Titles/Text you would recommend?

I've used both LiveType and Motion for titling some very large QuickTime files (1440 x 900 @ 25fps) and the quality is perfect. As high a quality as you could ask for.
I can understand the rationale for saying that Illustrator would give better results that PhotoShop (vector vs. raster), but if you're working with the native LiveType file in FCP you're still in a vector environment (at least I think so - anyone care to comment?).
It's the same argument for using vector-based files rather than pixel based ones for DTP applications that are going to be printed by a commercial printer: The printer's RIP rasterises the file just once at the correct imaging resolution.
To my mind, a vector is a vector: I can't see how Illustrator can give you 'better' vectors than LiveType or Motion - if you're using FCP to 'RIP' either of the original files to pixels, that is. Perhaps using a 3rd party rendering engine would give you better quality, in the same way that different PostScript RIPs give better quality than others.
Maybe that's the reason why some people use Illustrator - as the non-FCP RIP can't handle native LiveType/Motion files?

Combining image and text in accordion content panel

Hello,
I'm having difficulty displaying image and text together within an accordion content panel. What I need is a thumbnail photo of a staff member plus a short bio. I've put a panel together so it displays as needed in Live View, but not in IE8, Foxfire8, or Chrome. I'm using Dreamweaver 5.5, Spry 1.6.1, Windows 7.
Here's the code for the panel that includes an image not displaying:

This is the markup from your document <img src="/images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/> which means that the image is located in the images folder which is located in the root directory.
Hence the image cannot be found by your document.
The following are possible solutions, please choose one only
change the location of the images folder to reside in the root directory
delete the leading slash from the link as in <img src="images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/>
change the link to an absolute value as in <img src="http://cet-training.org/Test%20folder/images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/>

Need help with space between bullet and text in list

I've been trying to increase the space between my bullet and text in my list. Everytime I increase the margin-left or padding everything moves to the right but the space between the bullet and text stays the same. Would someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Adding New Image and Text to an Existing Page Created with Tables

Working in DW 5.5
I'm trying to add a new image/link and small amount of text to an existing web page that was created with tables and centered. I am using AP Divs. One for the image and one for the text. Everything functions fine, but I can't get the new items to anchor and re-center with the rest of the page. I am not able to overide the "Absolute Positioning". I've tried different solutions from various tutorials but I can't seem to make them work with tables.
The added items are a Facebook button and text.
