Repeating the Preparation steps for unicode

Hi,
We are planning to convert our system to unicode soon and run the Preparation steps in the QAS system. But, if we run the Preparation steps and some of the objects are modified before the end of the Prepare, how much of it is needing to be re-done before the actual downtime? We are not advocating a freeze of transports on the system during the preparation. What steps may need to be redone and how much of the total effort would that be?

Hi,
in case of a single code page system I do not see many problems here (compared e.g. to an Upgrade) .
For new customer objects, you should set the language flag.
Changes of tables should be treated with RADCUCNT right before the export (as stated in the Unicode conversion guide).
However if you have many changes and these were not included in your tests - then unexpected problems could occur.
This is the reason why SAP recommends to minimize changes during the conversion project.
To be more precise: Recommendation is to do a Sandbox conversion (copy of PRD system). The status of this SBX system should be as near as possible to the status of the PRD system right before the conversion.
Best regards,
Nils Buerckel

  • What are the installation steps for Oracle Fusion HCM

    Hi all
I will like to ask, what are the installation steps for Oracle Fusion HCM as well as can it work on Windows or only on virtual machine?
    Thanks

If you're looking to install Fusion HCM, your best bet is to install on linux, eg, Oracle Enterprise Linux. It's up to you whether you put that in a Virtual Machine or not. I don't think Windows is an available platform for Fusion Apps at the moment, although am prepared to be corrected if you find anything to the contrary!
If you're looking to do an install on your own PC/laptop, you're probably out of luck - you'll be needing around 128GB of RAM. Check out this post:
    http://onlineappsdba.com/index.php/2011/11/02/fusion-applications-128-gb-memory-and-500-gb-disk-space-are-you-ready/
Atul has also posted some good stuff on installing:

  • What are the basic steps for creating a content repository?

I am trying to create a document store on a file system (fsdb) that will hold files that are ftp's to that location. Is this possible using KM? If so, what are the basic steps for creating a file system repository and using it through KM? I have found stuff on help.sap.com but that only tells you what each component does not what actual steps need to be taken to setup KM, such as user rights , creating an entry point, so that all of KM is not visible, etc...
If anyone knows of any guides that show a step by step process that would be great too.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul
First of all you need to create a new repository
Suppose you want to add all the documents under folder Paul under C: Drive
(Even you can put whole documents of C: drive into Paul)
Navigate to System Admin -> System Configuration -> Knowledge management -> Content Management -> Repository Manager -> File System Repository
There you can create a new directory by clicking on button New
Give the parameters as follows :-
    Name               :           Anything you like
    Description       :           Anything you want
Prefix (must start with /)  :  Probably same as your repository name like \Paul
    Lookup mode : caseless
    Root Directory   :  C:\Paul
NOTE:  This is the trick. You need to give the proper path means folder path which you want use as repository)
Repository Services  :  Any services you want
    Property Search : Managercom.sapportals.wcm.repository.manager.generic.search.SimplePropertySearchManager
    Security Manager         :           AclSecurityManager
    ACL Manager Cache   :           ca_cm_rep_acl
    The save it
Now see whether the same repository is coming under KM Content or not, if not may be after restart it will come.
I think the above information will help you. If still you have problem, please feel free to contect me.

  • What are the different steps for  costing related to repetitive manufacturi

    Hi PP guys
can any one explain the different steps for costing in repetitive scenario as compared to discrete scenario what is the major difference
    thanks
    shaik

    Dear Michel,
!.In REM scenario Product cost collector is required for all the products for which production booking is
    to be done.
2.For each production version created a product cost collector will be created in KKF6N.
3.Without a product cost collector production confirmation can not be done in MFBF.
4.Product cost collector is the cost object in REM scenario.
5.Once after creating material master,BOM,work center, rate routing, aproduction version the next steps
    is creating product cost collector.
6.While creating the PCC,the system creates a preliminary cost estimate nothing bu the sum up of the
    BOM and dare routing cost.
7.Either a prelimnary cost or a standard cost estimate can be used for doing the production
confirmation in MFBF as per the REM profile assigned.
8.Standard cost estimate can be done in CK40N and this costs gets updated in the material master.
9.For every production confirmation made in MFBF the costs gets accumulated in the respective PCC.
10.the variances can be settled periodically as per the business requirement.

  • Give me the Configuration steps  for intercompany billing and third party s

    Hi Gurus,
Give me  the Configuration steps  for intercompany billing and third party sales and give me a brief description with examples.
    Regards,
    YSR

    Dear YSR
    Check the links
    [Cross Company Configuration|http://help.sap.com/bp_bblibrary/500/Documentation/J62_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc]
    [Third Party Without Shipping Notification|http://help.sap.com/bestpractices/BBLibrary/html/J55_ThirdPartyWOSN_EN_US.htm]
Third party order processing is as follows:
    Assume three companies X, Y and Z
    X - The company,
    y - The customer
    Z - Vendor
When ever X gets a PO from Y to supply some goods, X has an option of either manufacturing those goods or procuring those goods.
If he is procuring the goods, there are two methods that are generally followed:
    Method 1)
After receiving the PO from Y, X creates a sales order against Y.
Now at the same time he also creates a PO to a vendor Z to produce the goods
Z produces the goods and supplies to X
X receives the goods from Z
Then X delivers the same goods to Y.
    After that X invoices Y and Z invoices X.
Note : Here there is no direct/ Indirect relation between Z and Y.
This process is known as Trading Process. and the Material here is created  with Material type HAWA.
The other method is a Third party order processing method:
Here the glaring difference is that instead of Z supplying the material to X and X in turn supplying the same material to Y.
X authorizes Z to supply the material to Y on his behalf and notify him once the delivery is complete.
Now Z supplies the material to Y and acknowledges the same to X.
Z  will send a copy of delivery acknowledgement and invoice to X.
After receiving the delivery confirmation and invoice from Z, X has to verify the invoice and this process is known as invoice verification and is done in SAP through Tcode MIRO.
The next step for X  is to create an invoice and submit to Y
Only after the invoice verification document is posted  then only X can create an invoice for Y.
This is the business flow that is followed for third party order configuration.
There are few steps that have to be configured to enable the system to function as mentioned above.
    Step1)
If you are always followwing a third party process for a material then you have to create the material using item category group BANS.
The procument type should be marked as External procurement (F) in MRP 2 view of the material master record.
if you are not always allowing third party order processing then u can create a material master record with item category group as NORM and the procurement type should be marked as ( X) meaning both types of procurment ( in house manufacturing and external procurement).
    Step 2)
the item category in the order should be manually changed as TAS.
For that you need to confugure the item category determination
ord type + item cat grp + usge + Hiv level = Item cat + Manual item cat
    OR + NORM +      +       = TAN . + TAS
    OR + BANS +       +       = TAS
    Step 3)
make sure that during the item category configuration for TAS  you need to mark relevnat for billing indicator as F
    Step 4)
The schedule line cateogry for this type should be CS.
make sure that you mark  subsequent type as NB - purchase requisition  in this schedule line category as this will trigger the purchase requision order immediately after the creation of the sales order and the PO to vendor is created against this purchase requiesion.
    thanks

  • How to use the Validate step for Approve step

    Hi Experts,
I have modeled a workflow with the steps start, process, validate, approve, process and stop.
Process is set to owner and approve is set to some other user user1.
My requirement is as follows :
    1) Approve the records by approver and then it should send it to the next step for further processing
1.1)  if the approver did not approve the record it should send a error message until the record is approved. So it should not send it to the next step when record is not approved
I am using a field called item status for approving and disapproving the records. My validation is based on this field only... Validation working fine when i tested it manually.
But my issue is when am using this validate step in workflow design validation is getting triggered for all the users.as per my requirement only approver should get the error message. But in my scenario owner is getting the error message and approver is not getting any message.
How can i use the validate step only for particular step say approve in workflow.
Can anyone please help me out how should use validate step only for approve step...
    Thanks & Regards
    Sireesha.
Edited by: sireesha esukapalli on Jun 17, 2008 2:48 PM

    Hi ,
I have set the validation property to "None".
My design is as follows :
    start->process->validate->approve->stop.
Owner is assigned to process step and approver is assigned to approve step.
Now my problem is owner is also getting this error message along with the approver. AS per the design both process, approve users are getting the error message.
As per my requirement only approver should get this prompt but not the owner.
How can i restrict only for specifc user to get this message.
Can anybody please advice how can restrict the owner to not get this error message...
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to estimate the time needed for unicode conversion

    Experts:
I am going to perform an upgrade from 46C (non-unicode) to ECC6/EHP4.
In the action plan , it's hard to estimate the time needed for unicode conversion.
We do not have a sandbox to benchmark that time.
Could you please help share your experience here?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
usually it is very hard to estimate a proper time.
There are some hints to get a rough feeling (SAP note 857081 and [SMP link|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000380759&_OBJECT=011000358700001279022010E] ).
However please note that SAP highly recommends to do a Sandbox conversion - otherwise there is a high risk that the PRD conversion will take (much) longer than expected.

  • My PC crashed by starting CANcard selftest in the last step for installation?

    Hi,
I have tried to reinstall the CANcard and LabVIEW but my PC crashed by starting CANcard selftest which is actually the last step for installation?! Previously this CANcard worked on this PC but becuase by mistake two different LabVIEW versions have been installed, I reinstalled Win XP and now ...
I have already tried with LabVIEW7 and 6 plus CANcard driver 2.1 and 2.2 but that did not help.
    Thanks for any hint.

what means crashed your PC? A blue screen came up or the MAX rashed?
The problem could be caused by 6.0, because the driver was installed by the LabVIEW Installer of this version.
This can cause problems with newer drivers, like CAN 2.x.
try to uninstall all LV versions and all NI drivers.
Then check with attached programm for NI components and uninstall the rest. Then remove the CAN board from your computer and start again.
Now install LV 7 and then the driver 2.2.
Then plug in the board and now it should work, if not contact the NI Support.

  • What are the config steps for contract mass change and quota arrangement?

    Hi friends
what are the config steps for contract mass change and quota arrangement?
    Regards
    Raj Kumar

    Process Flow
The mass change process consists of four steps. You navigate between these steps by choosing the Next and Back buttons located at the bottom right-hand corner of the screens.
           1.      Search for contracts
You search for and select the contracts or the contract hierarchy that you want to change.
Contracts that have the status Closed cannot be changed.
           2.      Define mass changes
You specify the changes you want to make.
You make changes at header data level and at item data level by choosing the relevant change methods. A green tick appears next to each change parameter so that you can see where changes are already active.
Once you enter this step, the documents you have selected to be changed are locked so that other users cannot make changes to them until you are finished with this process.
           3.      Simulate mass changes
Here you can perform a trial run of your mass changes. This simulation step is optional.
We recommend that you perform this step so that you can check how the change methods you have chosen will be processed by the system.
You receive status messages about the change methods for each contract and can quickly see whether any errors arise in connection with the proposed changes at this stage. From this step, it is easier for you to go back and correct the error than after applying the changes.
    Background processing
The system processes the changes in the background.
If there are a large number of contracts to be processed, this step could take some time to complete. In this case, you can leave the transaction so that you can, for example, carry out other tasks in the meantime.
The system sends you an e-mail once the simulation step is complete. The e-mail contains a link to the relevant screen in the application so that you can return to it when it is convenient for you to do so. If you have left the SRM application, you can only return via this link.
Here you can see the status of the changes and, if necessary, you can correct any errors by going back to the Define mass changes step.
The messages that you receive in the simulation step are not confirmation that a change has been performed. They simulate the messages you get after you apply the changes. You must complete the final step of the mass change process and apply the changes before they take effect.
           4.      Carry out mass changes
Here you apply the changes to the contracts.
You cannot reverse this step, which is why we advise you to perform the simulation step beforehand.

  • What are the config steps for contract hierarchies and vendor hierarchies?

    Hi friends
what are the config steps for contract hierarchies and vendor hierarchies?
    Regards
    Raj Kumar

    Contract hierarchies
A function that enables users authorized to create a purchasing contract to define relationships between super- and subordinate contracts.
A contract hierarchy consists of one or multiple contracts and is subject to the following rules:
The top node of the hierarchy cannot have a superordinate contract
Every contract except for the top node has exactly one superordinate contract
Every contract can have none, one, or multiple subordinate contract(s)
A contract can be part of no hierarchy or exactly one hierarchy
Note:Contract hierarchies are only available for purchasing contracts. They are not available for global outline agreements.
You can activate this from SRM Server> Cross application settings>Activate Hierarchies for Product Categories, Vendors, and Contracts.
    Note:
These hierarchy functions should not be reset once they have been activated.
Similiarly you can do this for Vendor Hirerachies.

  • What are the highlevel steps for changing to a new R/3 backend in SRM 7.0?

    Hi,
I need confirmation of the highlevel steps required for changing to a new R/3 backend system in a SRM 7.0 server?
Our scenario is that we want to switch from an old R/3 backend to a new R/3 backend (both ECC 6.0). From what I can read from SAP Note 995771 the following steps would have to be conducted, only I don't know if all are valid or complete for SRM 7.0 as well?
    1. Create new RFC connection for new R/3 backend system in SM59 ( in SRM system.)
    2. Create new RFC connection for SRM system in SM59 (in new R/3 backend system).
    3. Define Logical System for the new R/3 backend system (in SRM system).
    4. Define Logical System for the SRM server (in new R/3 backend system)
    5. Define System Landscape for new Logical System and RFC connection (in SRM system).
    6. Adjust settings in Define Backend system for Product Category. (in SRM system)
    6. Run BDLSS (in SRM system)
    7. Run BDLSS (in new R/3 backend system).
    8. Control BDLSS results via report ZSCAN_LOGSYS (in SRM system)
    9. Control BDLSS results via report ZSCAN_LOGSYS (in new R/3 backend system)
    10. Maintain ALE-Distribution Model and Distribute Views for new R/3 backend. (in SRM System)
    11. Verify ALE-Distribution Model and Distributed view for SRM system (in new R/3 backend system)
    12. Generate/Control Partner functions in WE20 for IDOC processing (in SRM System)
    13. Generate/Control Partner functions in WE20 for IDOC processing (in new R/3 backend system)
14.Adjust the site attributes in transaction SMOEAC (in SRM System)
    15. Adjust Table CRMRFCPAR (in new R/3 backend system)
    16. Adjust Table CRMCONSUM (in new R/3 backend system)
    17. Adjust Table CRMSUBTAB (in new R/3 backend system)
    18. Adjust Table CRMPAROLTP (in new R/3 backend system)
    19. Adjust Table SMOFPARSFA (in SRM system)
    20. Run report RHOMATTRIBUTES_REPLACE to replace attributes still having the old logical system assigned in the organization model.
Are there any relevant steps missing? (I will of course take care of master data, number ranges etc)
Thanks in advance for your responses,

When you create a custom task, you should add the task ID to the UWL configuration.
Portal, Administration -> System configuration -> UWL Administration -> Click to Manage Item Types and View Definitions. Select Configuration "com.sap.pct.srm.core"; and download the configuration. Edit the configuration copy the task block and add new task ID. Upload the configuration.

It's possible to check daily that listener is running properly. Please, Don't mind can you provide the steps. The steps for what? Checking your listener? Just try to make a connection that uses it. For example.
sqlplus scott/tiger@orclBut believe me, once your listener and clients are configured, the listener will 'just run' and NOT be a problem. I've been an Oracle DBA since 1995 and I've only seen ONE listener failure. And that was only when a friend at another company called to ask about a problem HE was having.

  • Error in the backgrond step for custom leave workflow

    Hi,
I have copied the standard workflow for leave module(12300111) and added a method to get the mail id , but when i executed it is giving the error with  msg 'Dereferencing of the null reference'.
what do i have to do to avoid the prob
    Thanks,
    Krish.

    Hi Viji,
Yeah u r right, status is not passing because i have change the class name in the binding and put my copied class name, so it is not compatable with the standard class since i have added one custom class to it. so i have chaged the class names in all steps and replaced the standard class name.
Now i am facing the same old problem, workflow is started but showing errors in my custom added step, since it is having my custom class mentioned in the binding and it is not instatiating.
Please tell me how to instatiate the class and get the values from the methods in workflow.
    Thanks,

  • What are the configuration steps for cheque process

    hi,
    sap gurus,
what are the steps for cheque process if our customer wanted to pay by the mode of cheque.
    regards,
    balaji.t
    09990019711.

    Hi,
Kindly go to OVFD where in you will have to create a new payment procedure if it's not there in standard SAP. Then, you will have to assign this new payment guarantee procedure in customer in sales area data>billing document screen. As far as standard SAP is concerned you will be able to assign the payement by cards in customer master, but for DD process I think you will have to create it.

  • Issue in completing the block step for parallel processing

    Hi,
i have created a workflow where in i have used a block step to send workitems to multiple agents.  I have used parallel processing in block step. Number of agents are determined in the runtime. Lets say i have two items in my multiple line container( two agent id). Now inside block statement i have put user decesion step. So at the same time workitems goes to the two approver for approval. When both approver take the decesion after that also command is not coming out of the block step. I want the command to be out of block step after this and goes to the next step of workflow.
Please suggest any helpful solution for it.
    Regards,
    Smit Shah

I think theremust be a binding problem , the binding must be some thing like the below
    &USERID[&_WF_PARFOREACH_INDEX&]& ----->&_USERID_LINE&
of the block step from WF container to Block Conatiner. Because when I checked in my system it is behaving as you want., I also include one Decision step inside the block, and then hard coded the userid values int the table USERID and made the above binding and it ia working fine and in the Decision Agent I mentiond the EXPRESSION and assigned the value &_USERID_LINE&
