1) The URI you are using suggests that you
removed/copied the tlds into the WEB-INF directory,
and that your web.xml uses them. You should not do
this. The tlds are in the JSTL jar files. By
maintaining the proper URI, the one defined in the
JAR, you will be sure to be using the proper version
of the TLD and tag library.Thanks, I must have missed this important bit while scanning the docs. It's probably an old feature I've never investigated - so much to read and do :-)
>
2) Outputting the ${scope} string instead of a
representation of the scope object suggests that EL
is not being interpreted. This may be because you
are using an old version of the web descriptor
(web.xml) xmlns, or because you are using a non RT-EL
version of JSTL.Yep, after I fixed my web.xml things started working.

Keith S.

  • How to use Microsoft Word's Find and Replace with HTML tags?

    Hello to all!
    I'm trying to figure out how to use the find and replace function in Word to replace html tags. I'd like to be able to change something like this:

  • Struts tags versus JSTL tags

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to determine the performance and code generation differences between Struts and JSTL tags. Currently I have a very large JSP which is part of a Struts based application and it's teethering on the edge of the 'code too large for method' issue.
    Would replacing Struts based tags with JSTL tags reduce the amount of code generated in a jspService method for a JSP? For example replacing
    logic:equal or logic:match with c:if test="..."
    I would appreciate anyone opinion on this.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Thanks,
    We've already followed those guidelines. It's really more to do a decision by our functional design team who decided to combine the functionality of two pages into one, which is something we should have flagged initially.
    Now we are left with this task of attempting to optimise. It's not the
    perfect solution.
    There is heavy use of logic:equal/match tags throughout the JSP and my initial investigation is that a c:if test="..." seems to generate less
    lines of code because there are not as many attributes to set on the
    object.
    Would anyone agree with me on that?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Is it possible todeclare primitive variable by using JSTL tag

    Hi friends..........
    I have to use jstl tags in my project , so i have to know how to declare primitive variables with jstl tag. Is it possible with <c:set > jstl tag........
    Hope i get the answer...........
    Thanks in advance...............

    JSTL variables are attributes in the page, request, session and application scopes.
    As such, they can only be objects, because you can't store a primitive value as an attribute.
    However you shouldn't need to declare primitive variables. You should hardly need to declare any variables.
    JSTL is not a programming language. It is a language to aid the display of a JSP. Therefore most of its attention is geared towards outputting things, with a much lesser concern on setting them.

    Ok, I did a bit more experimenting, and web searching, and found you are the victim of the UTF-8 BOM bug.
    Basically the java UTF-8 reader does not recognise a BOM at the start of a UTF-8 stream, and it has to be discarded manually.

  • JSTL tags were not parsed on wls 7.0.1

    We started to use jstl in one of our applications that runs on wls 7.0. The code was working fine on my PC, but not on another developer's PC. When we view the source of JSP page from web browser on his PC, the c-tags (e.g. <c:out value='${objType}'/> ) were literally appeared in the JSP source. The only different thing is that he uses wls 7.0.1 and I use 7.0.5. If you know why the problem happend, please let me know. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks! -Yang

  • Webserver 7.1 - jstl tags are not loading properly

    Hi I have deployed a web application on sun java system webserver 7update1 with jsps using the jstl tag library just the basic tags such c:set, c:if etc.
    The web server succesfuly deploys the application but it completely ignores these tags and the jsp page just does not display that portion. If I precompile and deploy the war file it is able to display the page correctly.
    Anyone has any idea what could be wrong. Do i need to declare the taglibs (i.e. the core one) in my web.xml?
    thanks

    There should not any problem in this area.
    Can you elaborate what you mean by, "If I precompile and deploy the war file it is able to display the page correctly." ?
    Are you doing this?
    a) precompile JSPs
    b) create the war file again
    c) then deploy the war using wadm CLI/GUI.
    Can you mention simplest JSP with JSTL tag in it with which you can reproduce the problem?
    I can help you resolve the problem.
    Did you try our more recent Update 2 release?

  • Issue with JSTL ( c:import ) tags in Weblogic 9.2

    Hi,
    I'm trying to migrate a struts (1.2.9) application from Weblogic 8.1 to Weblogic 9.2. This application has JSPs with JSTL (1.0) tags.
    I have a JSP page that has multiple (around 7) c:import statements. When I launch my application, only the content from the last c:import statement is being displayed and rest of the c:import tags statements is simply ignored by Weblogic.
    I don't find any errors in the logs. When I comment out last c:import statement in this JSP then the content from the above c:import statement is being displayed. Only one (last one) c:import statement's content is being displayed in that whole page.
    This app worked just fine Weblogic 8.1.
    Any resolutions, hints, insights or workarounds on this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mani

    Hello,
    You should not need to edit the wlp-light-web-lib.war weblogic.xml file. There are many places where other classes in wlp-light-web-lib are dynamically loading classes (using Class.forName()) from "higher-level" shared library modules (such as wlp-framework-full-web-lib), so I am certain that it works in general. There may just be an issue with how your shared library is set up, or how your webapp deployment descriptors are set up.
    So you mention that you have a shared library module containing your implementation of the AnalyticEventHandler; is this a .war file? And in the webapp you are trying to deploy this in, does your weblogic.xml explicitly include your shared library? If so, is your shared library being included before or after the standard WLP shared libraries?
    If you would like, posting your webapp's weblogic.xml may help to find the problem.

  • Genereting JSTL tags with an XSLT transformation question

    Hi there!
    I have some XML datas to display in a jsp file.
    XML content is of this type:
    <message>
    <title>A message</title>
    </message>
    The most elegent way to present them is to transform XML via xslt into xhtml.
    (that way I can externally change with ease the message formatting output without changing the jsp)
    For that, I use the cool tag
    <x:transform>
    on each xml file i want to display (with x:foreEach)
    The output produced for each xml file is:
    <div class="message">
    <h2>A message</h2>
    </div>
    My problem is now that I want to include custom tags in the generated content!
    For exemple:
    <div class="message">
    <h2>A message<c:out ...></h2>
    </div>
    My question is:
    how can I make that xslt generated tag to be executed???
    Since it is the product of an xslt transformation ,I suppose it won't be executed at all...
    Advices greatly appreciated! :)

    I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say "how can I make that xslt generated tag to be executed???"
    You've got your XML input and the XSL-T stylesheet that will transform the XML input into an XHTML stream containing JSTL tags.
    I'm assuming that you're going to ask a servlet to pass the XML input to the XSL transformer and get the XHTML output stream. Once you have that, the servlet will write the XHTML to the HTTP response output stream, where it'll be rendered by the browser.
    I think the key is to make sure that you tell the browser that response type is a JSP (that's the only document type in which it makes sense to put JSTL tags). When the browser gets that JSP, it'll treat it like any other: generate .java code, compile that to a .class file, and then render.
    I'm not sure about efficiency, but it sure is an elegant solution. - MOD

  • Help with JSP and JSTL tag

    I am trying to accomplish the following
    -display a checkbox if the phrase "platinum" appears in a string
    -display a radio button otherwise
    Here is my code:
    <c:when test="${fn:containsEqualIgnoreCase(${product.description}, 'platinum' })}">
                      <td width="40">
                       </td>
                     <td width="1">
                        <html-el:checkbox property="dishHDProduct"             value="${product.productId}:${product.presentationChannelText}:${product.programmingType}" disabled="true"/>
                                                                  </td>
                                                             </c:when>
                                                             <c:otherwise test="${fn:containsEqualIgnoreCase("platinum")}">
                                                                  <td width="1">
                                                                       <html-el:radio property="dishHDProduct" value="${product.productId}:${product.presentationChannelText}:${product.programmingType}"/>
                                                                  </td>
                                                             </c:otherwise>I suspect that I cannot use the <when> <otherwise> stuff with the function JSTL tag, but I may be wrong. I am new to this and open to all suggestions.
    Thanks!

    This is actually the way I ended up solving my own problem:
    <c:choose>
                                                             <c:when test="${product.presentationChannelText == 'PlatinumHD'}">
                                                                  <td width="10">
                                                                  </td>
                                                                  <td width="1">
                                                                       <html-el:checkbox property="dishHDProduct" value="${product.productId}:${product.presentationChannelText}:${product.programmingType}" disabled="true"/>
                                                                  </td>
                                                             </c:when>
                                                             <c:otherwise>
                                                                  <td width="1">
                                                                       <html-el:radio property="dishHDProduct" value="${product.productId}:${product.presentationChannelText}:${product.programmingType}"/>
                                                                  </td>
                                                             </c:otherwise>
                                                        </c:choose>Because I am not able to use JSP 2.0 and therefore must use JSTL 1.0

  • CS4 Data Merge tag not replacing with data

    I have a directory with multiple tags that my client updates weekly. Suddenly, one <<tag>> refuses to populate with the data.
    On my clients windows machine it is the first tag (A column) that remains a tag.
    On my mac it is the W column.
    I have tried re-running with an older csv file and the problem persists.
    I have looked at the csv file with text wrangler and see nothing of suspect.
    Anyone else seen this issue?

    I's check to see if perhaps there's an extra field that's been introduced. You might need to open in a spreadsheet to make this obvious.
