Replacement MBP has different model number ?

Just received a brand new MBP C2D 2.16 as a replacement for an unfixable MBP CD. Based on the specs this is the current model # MA609LL/A as shown on the Apple website or ordering from Amazon, etc. Strange thing is my model (or part) number is Z0DP4LL/A. Does anybody know what this different number represents - refurbished possibly?

Or, perhaps you need to be a bit more optimistic. Perhaps the machine was custom configured, such that they were able to more appropriately test it for inadequacies to ensure you were fully satisfied. Either way, I wish you the best of luck, but in my experience Apple never voluntarily tries to hinder anyones computing experience, and in fact, works their hardest to ensure it blossoms.
Of course, this all relates to my own experiences with them. For example, right now I'm at home for the holidays in the US for a couple of weeks. I turned my computer in on the 29th with problems of 1.) warped casing
2.) loud clicking noise by delete key
The apple store sent it to apple care facility and it reached there by the 2nd of Jan. I checked the site at this time, and it said the product was under testing. I'm leaving on the 8th, so I panicked and called them. They said standard turnover is 7-10 business days. I was worried, so I told them I understood, but asked them to put a note on my account that I was leaving the country in a few days. I was skeptical, but apparently the service rep did because they sent the product back with fixed casing and a replaced inverter the very next day.
It's that kind of care that goes above and beyond the call of duty, in my opinion.
So anyway, sorry for being so very long winded, but be optimistic and expect the best.

No, if you got a replacement iPhone from Apple it is a refurbished iPhone, hence a special model number.

So recently my model number A1184 charger for my mac book pro died and I purchased a new charger online. They sent me a different charger, a model number S165365, that has the same amperage and voltage listed. my concern is whether it is okay to swap one out for the latter?

  • Does anyone have a Soundblaster X-fi Fatal1ty FPS soundcard that has a model number SB0

I have had a replacement soundcard sent to me which Creative diagnostics says is an X-fi Fatalty ExtremeGamer Pro with a Model number SB0460 and serial number MASB046654900897C . The origional soundcard that I sent for a replacement was a soundblaster X-Fi Fatalty FPS soundcard with a model number SB0466 with a serial number MASB046654800429F.
Creative Labs returns department?advises me that the replacment soundcard is the same as the one I returned because the serial numbers both start MASB0466, however Wikipedia advises that the model number for the replacement is incorrect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creativ..._Model_Numbers. Does this seem correct? Does the model number mean nothing and the serial number advise the type of soundcard I have? Why does Creative diagnostics now advise that the soundcard is?an?X-fi Fatalty EtremeGamer Pro which it did not before?List of soundcards including costs:-http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/c...nguage=&cate=2?I have recieved 3 replacement soundcards that Creative Diagnostics?has advised?are?X-fi Fatalty ExtremeGamer Pro with a Model number SB0460 of which I have returned?2 as the returns department agreed were incorrect. Now Creative Labs Returns?says other poeple have?X-Fi Fatalty FPS soundcards?which have model numbers?SB0460 and dont want me to return this soundcard again. All I asked for is a replacement with a soundcard with a model numbed SB0466 as the SB0460 does not appear to work correctly with the FPS drivers and I/O header unit.[url="http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=208&product=5854 &nav=0">[/url]?Surely considering that the FPS version is the second most expenci've soundcard?on sale?to the public?that Creative Diagnostics would rcognise this as an FPS soundcard and not an Extreme gamer? Please let me know what you think? Many Thanks?JamesMessage Edited by gtmonster on 05-20-200702:2 PM

Hmm.. weird. I also have a X-Fi Fatalty FPS Pro and it's also the SB0460 but my serial number is slightly different.
    It looks exactually like this.

    Model: SB0460
    Model on Gold Plate: SB0460-D

So what is my card supposed to be then?

  • I need to get a new hard drive for my 13" mid-2009 MBP but the model number is worn off. Is there a place to find this?

My hard drive needs to be replaced and I am looking to do it myself. However, I am in need of the model number of my MacBook Pro. The issue with this is, it has been worn off. My MacBook Pro is a 13" Mid-2009 model.
    Thanks!

Any 2.5"dia, 9.5mm thick SATA HDD will be compatible.  Look at options here:

  • Replacement case? Specific model number?

I am looking to replace both the bottom and top case (Parts 922-8117 and 922-8103) of my Macbook Pro A1229. My question is - can I use the bottom tray from a different model? i.e. the A1212 bottom tray or the A1261 top tray or do they HAVE to be the same? Both these models are also 17" Macbook ones.

I have never attempted such a procedure so I cannot say with any certainty that it will or will not work. Each model of each Mac is different, sometimes the ports are different, wiring may be different and power requirements may be different. iFixit works with all models and would best be equipped to respond to your query.

  • Macbook Pro3,1 - LCD Replacement - What is the Model Number?

had an accident with my LCD tonight, in which I closed my macbook - with a USB stick still sitting on the keyboard!!!
So, new screen it is, and need to source another screen. I've seen some of the videos on replacing the screen and might be prepared to give it a go - but I'm confused as to what the model number is of the LCD that I am replacing. How can I find this out? Will probably buy from ebay.
I've connected the laptop to a monitor to access the Apple info, but cannot see a model type for the LCD.
I'm pretty sure that it is a backlight LED model that I have. It's a 2.2GHz Intel Core Duo, with a glossy screen. Bought it in September 2007.
    Thanks

    Bummer!
A good source of this type of information is PowerBook Medic. Here is a link:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/product.php?productid=16893&cat=0&page=1
From what they say, it looks like you do have the LED model.
PowerBook Medic is a good resource, as you can determine exactly what you need and get a baseline price for what it might cost.
    Good luck!

    KadenP wrote:
Unfortunately, that's not it either.  On the bottom of my MBP from Mid 2010 it says "A1286".  That's great, but that's not the unique model number.  For instance, looking for a keyboard for it I found one that is compatible with:
    (MC371LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
    (MC372LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
    (MC373LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
Each one of those is MBP6,2 from Mid 2010, model A1286, but what about those first sets of numbers?  Is mine one of those three?  Or did they make more than just those three and mine may be one of the ones not listed?
I can't seem to find any way to know for sure, short of ordering the thing and hoping that it fits.  :-/
Those are "order numbers", in this case:
    MC371LL/A = 2.4 GHz CPU
    MC372LL/A = 2.53 GHz CPU
    MC373LL/A = 2.66 GHz CPU
These are all the flavors there exists for a model A1286 with identifier "MacBookPro6,2".
Going back to the excellent earlier post of babowa  I believe it works as follows:
The model number (A1286) which you can find on the bottom of your MBP doesn't say too much: it's used from late 2008 to mid 2012 MBP 15" models.
In addition you have model identifiers (MacBookPro6,2), which in your case nears it down to a mid-2010 model.
But you can also have different model numbers for a single model identifier and there comes in the EMC number Balboa mentions. I believe it's a unique comination between a model number and a model identifier. For example, the MacBookPro3,1 can be a 15" or a 17", which each a different model number (A1226 and A1229) so they each have a unique EMC number. I wouldn't know where to find the EMC number on a MBP, by the way.
One step down: within each model identifier you have several order numbers, the three you have listed above. Generally they distinguish different CPUs in standard configurations. However, if there is CTO/BTO option to upgrade a CPU it would not have its own order number. My BTO MBP 17" mid-2010 has an i7 2.66 GHz CPU but the order number is equal to the standard i5 2.53 GHz CPU.
Apart the very good website babowa provided a link to, you can download the free (donationware) application Mactracker from the App Store, which is a well maintained database of about every piece of hardware and every OS Apple ever released with a very friendly user interface. Click on "This Mac" and you got all the info I described above.

  • Universal Dock Model Number

I have just purchased an Apple Universal Dock (with remote), to be used to connect my Nano (and soon iPhone 3G) to a pair of Audioengine A5 active speakers.
The dock I've purchased has a model number MB125G/A.
Browsing the net, I've found the Universal Dock with model number MB125G/B.
Any body know the difference between the A and the B model?
I've tried phoning Apple tech. support but they couldn't answer the question.
I just want to make sure that I've not just purchased an out-of-date model.

It seems, percentage of the battery level is always not correct (may change suddenly ± ~30 %). I suppose, I already did this procedure that you mentioned a few times not specially and it was no change. It is strange that even changing the battery did not solve incorrect level indication. Notwithstanding this is not so important problem, I can live with this. Fast drain of the battery is the biggest problem, which is not acceptable at all.

  • Catalog vendor having different vendor number in different R/3 system

    Hello Experts,
We are in SRM 7.0 classic scenario and we are facing an issue as described below:-
We are using a punched out catalog which has different venor number in different backend system. We have 2 R/3 backend system say R/3 sys1 & R/3 sys2.
Vendor No for the Catalog vendor is say:-
    Vendor No     R/3 sys
    V123              R/3 sys1
    V567              R/3 sys2
We have connected the R/3 sys2 just a week back.We have replicated the catalog vendor number V567 from R/3 sys2 into SRM system and we are able to successfully create a Shopping cart in R/3 sys2 using catalog.
However,we are facing a problem and the problem is that,
When we create a shopping cart in R/3 sys2 using catalog,by  default we get a message that "Vendor V123 is not intended for plant"
We are able to change the vendor from V123 to V567  in the portal, but we are unable to understand why the vendor V123 is picked up as a default catalog vendor.
Can you all experts, plz help us understand why this vendor V123 is picked up as default vendor and how we can ensure that Vendor V123 is picked up when we are creating SHC is system R/3 sys1 & vendor V567 is picked up as default vendor when we are creating SHC in system R/3 sys2?
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

This means for same Product Category (and same material ID) coming from your Punch-Out catalog, you can create a Purchase Requisition in R/3 sys1 OR R/3 sys2 ?
If i am correct, how can you manage in your catalog two vendor numbers for same Product Category (and material ID) ?
I guess only one vendor number (V123) is maintained in your catalog. That's why, even if your management rule is to send your SC to R/3 sys2, you will have always vendor V123 as the default one, as it is the only one in your catalog...

  • Computer model number has become differenr

I orinally purchase the Hewlerd PAckard SR1750nx, and I swaped out the motherboard. Now when I do a system scan it picks up the computer as hp pavilion a1310.How does this happen??I know the Sr1750nx and the Pavillion a 1310 have the same motherboard. Can I make it SR1750nx again so maybe my original recovery disc will work.I also reinstall an operating system I bought from ebay because the recovey disc weren't recognised by the computert.
Is it because of the motherboard???
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Here are the specs for the Compaq Presario SR1750NX Desktop Computer and the HP Pavilion Media Center a1310n Desktop Computer. You are correct in stating that the two models use the same motherboard. When you replaced the motherboard, the replacement come out of an a1310n and is why you see what you do. The replacement board most likely has a different model name, product number, serial number, and software build ID then what is printed on your computer. You have 2 choices in correcting this issue;
    1) Take or send the computer to HP or an authorized service center and have the computer "Tattooed" with the proper information as listed on your case. "Tattooing" is the process of writing the HP/Compaq system information to the BIOS. This service may come a  substantial cost.
    2) Purchase HP a1310n Recovery Discs ( 5092-3066  -  Windows XP MCE SP2 Recovery Discs + Supplemental 1 (61NAemMPC1/2) ) from third party vendor ComputerSurgeons.com

  • Does Verizon ever provide a different model phone if the customer has basically had the same issues with 3 prior 'replacemet' (refurbished) phones?

I have owned a Samsung Galaxy Stellar for the about the past year and a half, which is only my second smartphone. I am not a whiz at all this but I'll try to be coherent. I had problems with the Stellar  from the beginning: Very slow loading browser, problems with the cursor, etc. After about 6 months, the phone dropped, and no, I didn't throw it on the ground!
I have insurance and it was still under warranty, so it was replaced, by Assurian, I believe. The replacement phone had the same problems, plus a whole lot more. During calls, the wifi, and/or Bluetooth options would appear, or the phone would suddenly go on mute. In addition, when I tried to access my voicemail, what I heard was my own voice and outgoing message, not the one from Verizon asking for the password. These problems were intermittent, which made the Verizon employees  dubious, but it's like the car that you take to the garage that suddenly works fine. Anyway, there were some other problems too, so I got a replacement phone again, which is the phone I currently have had for about 3 months. A few days ago it went from bad to worse. In fact it went Crazy!: Every call I make or receive is immediately dropped. Maybe after 5 or 6 tries, I can  complete a call, but rarely. When I do, the mute and speaker options spontaneously activate, at the same time!!  When I go into my voicemail, the messages are deleted in rapid fashion, one after the other, and I cannot get them back.   Or, as I said earlier, the Wifi/Bluetooth screens appear, and it's difficult to punch in any numbers as I have to hit the back arrow many times. Strangely, the phone makes odd sounds: It buzzes or makes this odd chiming sound! If I didn't know better, I would think that I have finally lost my mind! I could go on but you have the gist.  The phone is simply not workable. I  phoned tech support, and she was very nice. After an hour on the phone, it worked ok, until the following day. She didn't do a factory reset, but she had me take the sim card and battery out. She did things on her end, which unfortunately I don't recall, but the phone worked ok until the following day, when it went crazy again.
I took it to the corporate Verizon store where I live, The guy said "It's a lousy phone, a cheap, bottom of the line phone." By the way, throughout this time, I had had about 6 hours with tech support, between this phone and the last one.
THIS IS MY QUESTION: I asked him if I could have a totally different phone, since this model is clearly defective. He said no, but they could send me another replacement. He told me to call trech support  while I was there in the store and ask them, because they don't do repairs at the store. The tech on the phone  told me the issue is with my Gmail account! That there is a virus on some phones and each time I get a replacement phone, because I have kept the same Gmail account, the virus keeps getting 'transferred', for lack of a better word, to the next phone. I was totally incredulous. Virus? She said, "Well, I use the  term loosely, but it's just a weird glitch. When you get a replacement phone, bring it back and we'll save and upload all your data, and set  you up with a new email account." I was confused and annoyed, as I had never heard of this, and felt I was getting the runaround. I asked her if they could give me a different phone (free of charge) and of course the answer was no. By the way, I should mention that the Stellar is no longer made. These are my options, according to the 3 different Verizon employees I spoke with: I am eliblele for the early upgrade which they call the Edge. From what I understand, it's the full retail price paid out over 2 years, with a partial payment made at time of purchase. One person told me that after 24 months, they would accept what I paid as payment in full? Sounds too generous. Option 2 is $50 of a new phone, and option 3 is to buy a new phone at a Verizon store that is having an android sale. So, I acquiesced to getting another replacement which I will keep until I buy a new totally different phone. My impression is that it's not like buying a bad toaster. They don't refund your money and let you get whatever you want for the same price! My question is this: Does Verizon ever just replace a phone that has had problems, with a totally different model? I have made as much of a stink as I can muster towards that end, but I am wondering if anyone out there has actually been able to pull that off?
Thank you for any feedback ,comments or stories!

amysue, We defintely want you to have a reliable and working phone. Our apologies that you have had issues with the current model, the Galaxy Stellar. After reviewing information about the overall function of the phone, it does not appear that Samsung has recalled the device or stated that all Stellar devices are defective, with that being said, the warranty would still only cover the same make and model. The only time a completely different phone is sent out is if the manufacturer deems the entire make and model overall faulty. It is common to have a few glitches and a master/factory reset, in addition to all other troubleshooting, will help resolve these issues. The Stellar is no longer made because there have been several Samsung galalxy devices launched, and this is common with any device manufacturer. Our recommendation is to take advantage of EDGE, if you are seeking a new device with low monthly payments. This gives you the chance to explore different device options without having a contract and you can EDGE up to a new device once meeting certain requirements. We hope to resolve your concerns here or by calling customer support.
