Replication failure "requires administrator action"

Hello (again),
We are currently running a two machine (A and B) multi-master setup. Both machines are configured to send updates immediately.
Yesterday, the following error appeared in the error log on machine B:
[30/May/2003:09:55:39 -0700] NSMMReplicationPlugin - Replication: Incremental update failed and requires administrator action
There are no other errors in the error log. Replication from B to A is permantly stopped, but replication from A to B is okay.
After digging into this a bit, it appears that the error is caused by A failing to return data to B when B first connects:
[29/May/2003:18:10:16 -0700] conn=1381 op=0 BIND dn="cn=Replication Manager,cn=config" method=128 version=3

[29/May/2003:18:10:16 -0700] conn=1381 op=1 RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=0 etime=0
The same connection from A to B looks like:
[29/May/2003:16:36:25 -0700] conn=711 op=0 BIND dn="cn=Replication Manager,cn=config" method=128 version=3
[29/May/2003:16:36:25 -0700] conn=711 op=0 RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 dn="cn=replication manager,cn=config"

xtension"
[29/May/2003:16:36:25 -0700] conn=711 op=1 RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=1 etime=0
Am I on track here?
What is going on, and how do I fix this?
Thanks,
Gil

Hi there,
You have not specify the version of Directory used.
If you use any earlier version of Directory Server than 5.1SP2HF3 or 5.1SP3, then it is strongly recommended to get your servers up to these versions... indeed, there has been several major replication issues fixed there.
Then, if the beginning of your replication issue is still within the changelog trimmer period, you may try to restart your Server A (the consumer of Server B). Verify then if the replication restart... by checking with the insync command (using Server B on the "-s" argument).
If this does not work, then I am afraid you will have to reinitialize your Directory Server.
Hope this would help you.
Cheers.
/Damien.

That's pretty darn funny bud.  I didn't know people from "primary school" pride themselves by answering questions on an Apple forum.
As for the issue with the phones: I'm sure Apple will fix this problem of theirs.  A company as large scale as Assle cannot tell their users that they're on their own when a mass number of them all at once experience the same problem.  By chance, everyone happens to have the same technical problem after updated to IOS 6+.
I've had nothing but problems with IOS 6.  I choose chose Apple over Android forever due to the nice fact that they rarely crashed.  Now, every app I have (including their fu**ing propriatary bull) crashes daily).

  • Launch VSTA Editor Requires Administrator Privs?

This is a follow-up to another posting I had about problems with launching the VSTA editor from various scripts.  I have been experimenting with this further and while available RAM seems to have something to do with it, more clearly appears to be that
launching VSTA requires me to be logged on as administrator.  IT security only allows us developers to get Admin for one hour at a time -- have to request it, log off, then log back on.  After an hour it expires and we would have to request again,
log off and then back on yet again for another hour.  Needless to say, this would be rather frustrating.   Any ideas about how/why launching VSTA from SSDT script tasks or components would require administrator privs and how I could get around that?
    Thanks kindly,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for the note.  Unfortunately, things are still frustrating us.  I tried your suggestions and the VSTA editor still will not open.
I actually completely re-formatted my machine (Windows 7) and applied Windows updates.  Then I only installed BI tools (our BI group has an install setup from a share that installs SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012 (I was unable to insert
an image -- kept getting a note about not being able to link images until my account has been confirmed -- that's new.    I then opened my migrated 2008 Solution and a package that included a Task Script and clicked "Edit Script".  Even with
ONLY those applications installed on my box the VSTA editor will not open.  I then installed the tools you noted above (Runtime and Design-time for 64 bit) and VSTA editor will still not open.  Each time I even just open SQL Server Data Tools for
VS 2012 Windows Event log captures the errors I pasted below -- one about VS 2012 being incompatible with this version of windows and one security event (Audit Failure) that indicates "Sensitive Privilege Use".
Another colleague had one machine where the VSTA editor in 2012 was reliably opening for him but then he imported (and converted) a 2008 package
and now the editor will no longer open for him either.   On my machine I did not try simply creating a new package in SQL Server Data Tools for VS 2012 and see if that worked.   On a VMWare instance that can be easily created we are going to try
a fresh Windows 7 install with just SSDT for VS2012 and create a new package with a Script Task to see if that works.  If that works we are starting to think there is something in the 2008 packages that breaks the VSTA editor when they are opened in 2012???
Does that make any sense at all?

  • Denied Downloading Creative Cloud Installer, Requires Administration Priviledge

Why is it that when I am trying to download the Creative Cloud installer or for that matter the Adobe Application manager on my home personal computer I am told that this requires Administration priviledge?
Where do I get this adminstration priviledge to continue the downloading of the software?

Background - Installing under Windows 7 from Photo subscription
Problem - failure some way into the download process with the message that the next stage requires administrative privileges
What's it got to do with Adobe?
This has a lot to do with Adobe. Standard MS security practice is use a user account with minimum privileges for all normal purposes - such as running e-mail. In addition, the "Administrator" account login is disabled by default and the expectation is that the machine will be managed by a different account with user privileges. The Adobe acceptance e-mail will normally be loaded into the user account where the e-mail client (e.g Outlook) is accessed. Following the instructions on this e-mail will lead to the install being attempted into the user account with minimum privileges. Every other recent application I come across will request a password of an admin account to proceed with the install in these cases. Adobe's install just dies with its unhelpful message.
It's actually worse than this, since Adobe require that the download takes place into the administrator account - as you need to enable login first. (Run as Adminstrator does not seem to be an option with the download process, as the executable file is not obviously available to run)
When you are on a relatively slow connection (as I am.. 2.3mb dowload) the need to work through this is a bit tedious. Things now seem to be working, but its the third iteration.
    Solution
    1. Follow the instruction on the acceptance e-mail and click Get Started to get the web screen up in the user account. Copy the web address this generates from the top left of the browser (highlight and press <Ctrl>+C). Paste this into a text file - save to a stick or an area of shared storage. Exit the browser and account.
    2. Enable the built in Administrator account from your management account (see How to enable and disable the Windows Administrator account for example. Make sure you give the account a suitably complicated password but don't rename it. (you'll disable the login anyway when you've finished)
    3. Exit the management account and log in to the built-in Administrator account, which will now be available. Go to www.adobe.com  change your region if necessary, (bottom left hand of screen) and log in, ticking the keep logged on box. Open a new browser tab and copy in the saved web address from the acceptance e-mail. Things should now work (well they seem to be working for me, anyway.., though I am not sure how Adobe will handle things if the program download fails because of comms problems (1.5 hrs for 38% of photoshop)
    4. Remember to disable login to the built in Admin a/c when you finish.
    A better solution
Adobe to take account of the above when putting its load routines together.. at the very, very least provide some warning and instruction on the acceptance e-mail.
BW to anyone who picks this up & good luck

  • Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers stop accepting log in and replication failure.

We have recently completed a Domain upgrade to 2012 R2 AD DS from native 2003 AD. The issue we are experiencing is that for seemingly no reason the 2012 hosts will randomly stop accepting (RDP) logins and we see replication failures. We also cannot
otherwise remotely manage the host (remote service management etc...). The only way I've been able to recover from this condition is to restart the affected host, after which (RDP) logins are again accepted and successful replication starts again.
Logs aren't showing any issues prior to the issue happening and it is not specific to one host. I have been digging around to find a solution to this abnormal behavior but as yet haven't come across anything specific to what I am seeing.
Domain level is 2008 R2 and our few remaining 2008 R2 hosts never experience this. Only seems to be the 2012 hosts and randomly among all the DCs. Not one specific 2012 host is affected.
    We have 20 DCs total.
Are there any known issues? Any advice on what I may be able to look at?
We are otherwise healthy aside from this intermittent replication/login issue.

This sounds more like a network type issue than AD type problem.
Are any firewalls in the way?
Do the servers respond to a ping when they are not responding to RDP.
What are you seeing in event logs prior to the change.
Are the servers physical or virtual? Are you able to get onto the console - either through your HyperVisor or through ILO type management?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Restart the GP service (caf/eu/gp/model) and the CC frame Service (in this order). Then go to the Runtime. It should solve your problem.

    CVE-2014-1265
My account is an administrator account, but now when I run the systemsetup command, I get the following error:
    MacBookAir:~ mikedonscheski$ systemsetup -listtimezones
You need administrator access to run this tool... exiting!

Hmmm... I'm probably a bit experienced, but the Time/Date setting looks okay to me?  Matches the time on my iPhone.  Should I be looking at something else?

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro requires administrative password on every launch--whats with that?

Since upgrading to Mavericks my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro requires administrative password on every launch which seems like an unnecessary step.  Does anyone know why this is happening and what can be done to eliminate this?

Download and run the combo updater to refresh your files.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1746
Open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions
You might need to remove and reinstall Acrobat. Be sure you are in an admin account when installing.

  • Adobe Reader Activation requires administrative rights - who?

I have had Adobe Reader installed for several years withour any problems like this. Now when I open a pdf file on Internet to read, it times out with a message (Adobe Activation - requires administrative rights to this computer) and than shuts down. The message say: "log in as adminstrator and try again or contact your system administrator". Well, I am a single laptop user and also the system administrator, I suppose, and I have not my computer set up to log in as an administator. How do I change Adobe Reader so it allows me to use Adobe?

    What is your OS?
What is your Adobe Reader version?
Do you have any other Adobe products installed, e.g. Acrobat?
Can you open the standalone Adobe Reader by itself?

I am installing a new epson print driver on a G4 Quicksilver tower 10.4.11. When I try to install it, I get this message. "The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges." I am stumped how to correct that issue.

  • Reverse replication not implemented for action:

Hi, we see a persistent error reported in our replication log:
Reverse replication not implemented for action: TEST. Remote outbox path: /var/replication/outbox/1338320761214
The node mentioned has cq:repActionType = TEST.
The consequence is that this aborts the replication of nodes in the publisher node and our author and publisher seem out of sync because of that. Is this something anyone has come across before. How to prevent this?
If I delete that node in the outbox it seems to resolve the issue, but I'd like to know what caused it to appear in the first place to make sure we don't end up seeing this issue in our production environment.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't remember exactly when the TEST nodes are created but they are only when some tests are run.
When it happened to me I had to delete once and then it never happened.

  • Since I upgraded to ios 7.1.1 I'm not getting notification alerts that require an action before proceeding?

For example in the notification center it says you can set an app up to trigger an alert that requires an action before proceeding and I'll get them if the screen is locked but if I'm using the phone then the only way I will know about a text msg etc is if I happen to see the badge icon with the red numbers. Any help would be much appreciated. And yes everything is set up to trigger those in the notification center. Thx!

Ok, thanks for taking my questions. I'm sorry I wasted the USD 700. As I said earlier, I am very frustrated. I appreciate the courtesy of replying in Portuguese

  • Requires administrator or higer privileges - since when?

I am trying to re-install my printer driver after a terrible day. My G5 tell me that 'the software to be installed requires administrator or higher level access privileges". I am the only user, it says administrator after my login, and my password works on everything else. Why this? and what higher level can I achieve than administrator? it has been a terrible day. Please give me some relief!

Have you tried using the disk utility to repair permissions on your startup volume? When I have had similar problems in the past this has usually helped.

  • Airport Failing to require Administrator Password when Turning on/off?

I was using Lion a ways back but became nervous about its security when I discovered it was failing to require Administrator Password for this simple setting.
See 'System Settings-->Network-->Airport-->Advanded.'  On the Airport tab, towards the bottom there is a section that states "Require Administrator Password to:"  with a checkbox at the bottom for "Turn Airport on or off."
This setting fails to do anything.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Is it still a problem?
I took my MBP into the Apple Store in Georgetown, Washington DC and a few guys at the store were able to verify this problem both on my MBP and on one store model....  I would like to try Lion again but I'm wondering if it is still a problem?

    Crazy isn't it!?
An 8MHz Atari can display many motion Screen Savers with almost no CPU!?
It's a bit like calling today's Monitors Wide Screens as a selling point, when they're actually Short Screens! I haven't found a single web page that didn't need more Vertical!?
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, Reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
After a bit, it generally speeds everything up.

  • Why does WD Lock / Unlocker require administration rights?

It's really bloody annoying. I purchased the WD My Passport 2TB Portable Hard Drive because it had hardware hardware encryption thus it shouldn't need a device driver like software hardware encryption programs do. I've been trying to get a decently sized fast portable usb powered hard drive with hardware encryption and password protection that i can use on any PC regardless of account permissions for years now and i am still struggling. Don't you hard drive companies understand that people wish to use their portable hds at work as well as at home? The only company i've found to include locking / unlocking software that doesn't require admin rights is by Intergral but they don't do portable usb powered hard drives, only memory sticks  It's obvious it can be done, i don't just get why no one else is doing this? Basically i've got a super small and fast 2tb hard drive that i can't take advantage of the hardware encryption / password software because of this silly issue of requiring administration rights to access a drive when password protected. My work PC runs Windows XP and when plugging the drive in (without a password), it loads up without the the need for an admin account.

The Unlocker is poorly designed. When a standard Windows user account connects a locked drive and launches WD Drive Unlock.exe (prompt pops up in AutoPlay), UAC (User Access Control) elevation occurs and the administrator password is required. That is a the fault of the WD programmers - they should not require Admin permissions to do a simple drive unlock when the correct password is entered. The Unlocker should be rewritten to allow a Windows standard user account to enter the correct password and unlock the drive.
