Report Burst to Enterprise Portal

Hello,
When using the Information Broadcaster one can use the option 'Broadcast by E-mail (Bursting)'.
Nice feature here is that you can filter the documents by a characteristic value (e.g. Profit Center) so each recipient receives the document filtered with his/her own data.
Would anyone know if this kind of 'bursting' can be used to Broadcast documents onto the Portal? (with or without a workaround)
I have a requirement where a query needs to run for, let's say, 50 Profit Center and each profit center gets an pdf file (filename = profit center + timstamp) in the Portal.
As you will understand I don't like creating broadcast settings for each profit center separately.
Thanks!

Hi Jay,
Using the Broadcasting feature as is , we cannot Burst the Query with the help of a master data to Portal like we do for email addresses.
But there are  tougher Work arounds.
1. Like snehtih suggested create one Broadcast Settings per value(50 cost centers), Schedule them as a batch. But this involves lot of effort and lot of maintenance.
2. Write a customized ABAP program that can read master data and update the values of the Broadcast settings every time before firing the broadcasts.
This we have done it and works like a charm. The only disadvantage is that this is sequencial execution.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Shafi.

  • Performance issue of BI Reports in SAP Enterprise portal -in SAPNW2004s

    Dear friends,
We are integrating BI Reports in SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0 ( SAP NW- 2004s).The reports are running properly .But the issue here is reports are taking long time to open and leading it to performance effect.
Reports in BEX( Bi side) working lilttle better than EP platform.
And Even BI team is looking for ways to improve the performance.
Could you please share your ideas to implement in portal side to increase the performance.
    Thanks and Regards
    Ratnakar Reddy

    Hello Mr. Reddy,
There are two possibilities for slow performance in BW reports, so we need to look into wether its slow in the BW system or at the frontend.
If the problem resides in the BW system then we should be able to trace the reports
and you can go for a SAP EW or GV sessin and SAP will provide recommendations.
If the problem resides at the frontend
Update the frontend servers to the latest frontend release.
    Recommended Frontend Release 700
    Recommended Frontend Patch      18
Update the frontend servers to the lates SAP GUI release as soon as possible.
Minimum Recommended SAP GUI Release 6.40
Your frontend PCs should fulfill the following requirements:
Each frontend PC should have 500 MHz and 128 MB main memory.
Because of a limit in the addressable memory, Windows 95 is not supported as Frontend OS for 3.X BW Systems. Please refer to SAP Notes 161993, 321973 and 366626 for details.
Please also check SAP Note 147519 "Maintenance strategy/ deadlines 'SAPGUI'".
If you still require any assistance from SAP support then raise a message under component ( probably BW-BEX-ET-WEB).
Provide your input, if you have any.
    Thank you,
    Tilak

  • Performance issue of BI reports in SAP Enterprise portal

    Dear Friends,
We have  integrated BI reports with SAP Enterprise portal 7.0.Reports are running properly But the issue is reports are taking more time to dispsaly its content and leading it to  performance effect.
In Bex ( BI side) reports  performance is little better than  SAP EP platform. BI Team also looking for ways to improve performance  at BI side.
Could you please share your valuable ideas to improve  the performance at SAP EP side also ..
    Thanks and Regards
    Ratnakar Reddy

    Hi ratnakar,
The first step is to identify which component is causing the performance problem. Run your report in the portal but try appending the string &PROFILING=X in the end of the URL. This will generate BI statistics which you can use to see which component (Java stack, ABAP stack, Database) is causing the performance issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Integration of WEBI report in SAP Enterprise portal

    Hi Colleagues,
I want to create my adhco report using WEBI and want to publish it to SAP NW Enterprise portal .
While creating the i view in the EP i dint find any option in i view template in order to create an i view for WEBI report .
However there is an option to choose crystal report as a template while creating an i view but nothing for WEBI and Xcelsius as such. So how can we embedd our Xcelsius and WEBI report in SAP Enterprise portal .
Is there any option to intergate the SAP NW Enterprise portal and BO Portal .
    Kindly sugest.
    Vibhav.

You should be using opendocument links if using EP. with opendocument the URL contains all the pertinent info.
refer to chapter 8 of the SAP Integration kit guide for more info.
Post in the webi, general, or check out the outher documents link in the forum sticky post for the latest opendocument doc.

  • Is there User Group and Role Reporting in SAP Enterprise Portal?

I want to know if there is a way to pull users statistics our of SAP Enterprise Portal like you can out of the R3 backend systems.
I would like functionality similar to the SUIM transaction. I know through user administration you can access any user, even a list of all users, and you can do similar lists with roles and groups. You can then access any of these things individually and look at their assignments. However, I want to do this on a large scale. I want to know for example every group that has a user assigned to it. Evergroup that has roles assigned to it. Or groups that have no user or role assignments. We have approximately 1904 groups in our Production Portal system and I am trying to clean up the groups that have no user assignment, but I don't want to look through them one by one.

    Hi Chris,
There is no standard report available for this purpose. However all this information is stored in table UME_STRINGS.
You can write your own SQL queries to generate such reports. However please note that this table is not normalized, and it's a master UME table. You should use it strictly for READ ONLY purpose.
For a sample code you which i wrote some time back, you might refer:

We have to post a standard report program in EP ( Enterprise Portal ). If anyone has the steps please share the steps. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
You mean to display the report in iview?
Then you create a transaction for that report and create a transaction iview in EP.

  • Q: BOBJ reports in SAP Enterprise Portal?

    Hi,
We want to be able to access Business Objects reports (Crystal Reports and WebIntelligence Reports) via the SAP Enterprise Portal. The integration between SAP BI and BOBJ is completed, and we can create WebI and CR reports based on our SAP queries, but we have not been able to understand how to publish the reports in the portal.
Does anybody have any idea of how to publish these reports (for instance if it is possible to create a direct link to the report in InfoView)?
    Any help appreciated,
    Thank you in advance,
    Mikael

    Hi Mikael,
this is the quick (URL iView) but not the recommended (BOBJ iView Template) way:
    1. Log on the BOBJ InfoView, locate your report and look at its properties. Write down its CUID.
    2. Go into the SAP Portal and create a new URL iView using following URL
http://<name of bobj web server:port of boboj web server>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=<CUID of your report>
    Regards,
    Stratos
NOTE: The openDocument URL works for BOBJ XI 3.x installations with Tomcat. Please look in the documentation about the syntax if you are using IIS.

  • Issues with BEx Reports in SAP Enterprise Portal

    Hello Experts,
I am facing issues with BEx reports integrated in portal. Below are more details:
    Scenario 1:
Execute a BEx report in the portal, save it in 'My Portfolio' using 'Save As' button. Now open the saved report from 'My Portfolio'. Below is the issue for this scenario:
When I open the saved report, I get 2 error messages and 1 info message at the top of the report. They are as follows:
The metadata of 'ITE' 'TEMPLATE_PARAMETERS' are incorrect for parameter 'COMMAND_PROCESSING'
The metadata of 'ITE' 'FILTER_PANE_ITEM' are incorrect for parameter 'TEXT_WRAPPING'
Variables for characteristic Fiscal year/period[0FISCPER] cannot be processed
    Scenario 2:
Execute a BEx report in the portal, save it in 'BEx Portfolio' or 'Favourites' using 'Save As' button. Now open the saved report and click on 'Send' button. As expected, the BEx broadcaster wizard should appear but, it shows '400 BAD HTTP REQUEST'. While if I open the report (not the saved one) and click on 'Send' button, it works.
    Helpful pointers appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vikash

    HI Suman,
I am not adding the report to favourite using browser favourite. Below is the flow:
    Run the report in portal.
There is a 'Save As' button at the top of the report. When I click that button, I get a pop-up with 3 tabs  for saving the report.:
    Favourite
    BEx Portfolio
    My Portfolio
save the report in the favorites or BEx portfolio tab and then open it and press 'Send' button
BEx Broadcaster Wizard should appear but instead of that, it shows '400 BAD HTTP REQUEST'.
If I press send for unsaved report, then BEx broadcaster Wizard is shown.
    Thanks,
    Vikash

  • WebI reports in Enterprise Portal - Are they static??

    Hi All,
We currently have Bex reports on our enterprise Portal. Users can actually go to the portal and view the reports and go to edit mode and drag and drop objects and change the view the way they like and save it as a new view.
We are planning to shift from Bex Reporting to business Objects. If I create an iview for WebI report and have the WebI report on the Portal, can we do the same. Can we still edit the Report and save a different report of it or is it more like a static page with just the data.
We need to give atleast 100 users the ability to get to these queries and make changes to them as they like and save their own views.
Also what is Knowledge Management? Does that give us the ability to create webI reports in enterprise Portal. Please calrify..
    Thank you,
    Aparna

    Hi
you can edit a report which is visible over a URL iView and save it in the BOBJ repository under a different name (assuming your user has been assigned the appropriate auhtorizations in the bobj repository). The problem is that the iView will always invoke the original report.
I would recommend using KMC. It provides you with the ability to view and create WebI reports from within the EP. Another option is to add a URL iView, hich starts the InfoView (simplified: BOBJ Portal) from within the portal. But the look and feel over the KMC integration is more EP complient.
Take a look at the Installation and Administration Guide for the BOBJ XI Integration for SAP solutions.

  • Publishing BW query to Enterprise Portal

    Hi Experts,
I am BI Consultant , I created a 3 New BW Queries, thefront end report requirement is to published the report to the enterprise portal.
I managed to create a iViews, role and folders for my bw queries. However I am difficulties in achieving the current portal display of the existing BI Reports.
The Image will have a better view of what the requirement would be:
    First Image below
From This View ---> Tab 2 (This Contain my work which it holds my 3 new Queries)
This tab has only detailed navigation pane on the left side window
    Second Image Below
To this View --> Tab 1 (This Contains the existing Layout which I intended to do).
This page behaves by when clicking the report name, it calls the page of the report and puts up the selection screen of the report in the new window page. The report name has description below the report name/link.
I am looking for step by step procedure on how to create this kind of display in the portal
    Thank you very much,

    Thomas,
    Second Image Below
there is only one picture Im able to see
I am looking for step by step procedure on how to create this kind of display in the portal
Even if there would be another image, Its not very clear what are you trying to reach following the delivered description. However, I have the suspicion your issue is related to the navigation behaviour / look&feel. SAP is not delivering any step by step to meet any exact customer scenario, excepting very common cases. They dont do this for clear reasons: if you would combine all possible customizing options as cartesian product, you will get a nearly infinite matrix. Instead of this they delivering well descripted generall information about how SAP Portal navigation behavious under which circumstances, you could try to follow that
    cheers

  • How to create the web based report without enterprise portal?

    Hi experts,
We don't have enterprise portal but I like to create the web based version of the existing Bex reports and which option is the best to distribute this web based report using information broadcasting?
Can I use report designer for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sharat.

    Hi Sharat
In BI 7.0 the Queries which u devoleped can be broad casted by using two ways .
    1. Enterprise portal
    2.Web Application Designer(WAD)
So you can choose any of the option, For the Option 1 you should have seperate server for the EP or else For option 2 you have to make some setting in the BI system to enable the Web reports..

  • ABAP reports or BSPs for publishing R/3 data to Enterprise Portal

    Dear Friends,
We have got scenario where we need develop a product. As part of that we have got some data in SAP R/3 that need to be published through Enterprise Portal.
Before me there are the below options.
1.To write ABAP reports and publish with the help of ITS.
    2.To go for BSPs.(understood WAS should be > 6.10 )
3.To write some BAPIs and build the interface using portal as middleware.
Pl. suggest me which one would be best option considering If the reports contain some graphs also.
    Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Mrutyunjay

    Thanks Gopi for your inputs,
But I heard graphs in ABAP are very resource intensive.
I would request to through some light on presenting the data graphically through EP if the data is collected through BAPIs from SAP R/3.
    Thanks in advance.

  • BI 7.0 Web Report and Enterprise Portal

    Hi,
We have recently performed technical upgrade to BI 7.0

    Best Regards,

    Hi,
take a look at this note which describes how to setup BEx Web in SAP NetWeaver 2004s. All required steps are mentioned. Additionally, this note contains a checklist to check the installation and configuration.
SAP NetWeaver 2004s: Setting Up BEx Web
    SAP Note Number: [917950 |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bw_sys/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d393137393530%7d]
In SAP NetWeaver 2004s, load is moved from AS-ABAP (BI-ABAP) to AS-Java (BI-Java). BI generates load on Portal (AS-Java), therefore BI users generate more load on Portal than normal Enterprise Portal users. See note 927530 for additional information about BI-Java sizing.
Which functionalities of BEx Web in SAP NetWeaver 2004s are requiring a Portal?
    - New BEx Web Application Designer (Unicode, Command Wizard, ...)
    - Exporting to PDF and Printing
    - Integrated Planning
    - Drag&Drop (Analysis Web Item)
    - Web Items (Container Layout, Menu Bar, Tab Pages, Button Group, ...)
    - Formatted Reporting with BEx Report Designer
    - Document Integration with storage in Knowledge Management
For details, see Release Notes for Usage Type BI-Java under http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/index.htm
If you don't want to use the new BEx Web functionality, you can still use BEx Web 3.5 Runtime that is running only with Usage Type AS-ABAP.
    Take also a look:
