Report from 2 Facts and 1 Semi-Related Dimension

Hello,
I have a metadata structure as follows that is working properly:
- Sales Fact
- Targets Fact
- Time Dimension
- Sales Team Dimension
The initial requirement was to build a dashboard report that returns actual sales results by sales team and compares them to their targets.
Now the requirements have changed slightly and we need to filter the Sales Fact table based on a line of business. I was able to add the Line Of Business Dimension to the metadata and join it to the Sales Fact. This is where the problem arises. Sales results are now accurately returned with the filter, but since there is no relationship between the Targets Fact and Line of Business Dimension, those results now come back empty.
Is there a way to tweak the metadata or report to fix this behaviour?
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks

There is no relationship between the Line of Business dimension and the Target Fact so they cannot be joined. I want to be able to query the Sales Fact with any dimension related to it and combine the results in a single table with the results from the Target Fact.

  • Purging records from Facts and Dimensions in the source sql server DB

The cube contains 5 dimensions table and 1 Fact table and in the source DB it has foreign key constraints. The Fact table size has grown large ~10 GB and only 1 dimensions table size has grown to ~10 GB. The other 4 Dimensions table size is very small not
    in GB.
All the Dimensions has primary keys and all these primary keys are maintained as Foreign keys references in the Fact Table.
Is it necessary to purge data from all the dimensions table after purging from the Fact Table ?
    or
Is it Ok if I purge data from only the Fact table and 1 dimension table whose size is ~10GB ?
    Thanks in advance.

It begs to ask, were the Fact table rows needed in the first place? Perhaps the "better" long-term solution is to identify a partitioning strategy so that there is not a lot of deletion happening.
Back to the original question, it is best to purge from the other Dimension tables as well, if you know that the other Dimension members will no longer be used. Aside from confusing/cluttering the end user with Dimension members that are irrelevant, it will
help reduce the processing time for the future.

  • Again: two facts and one conformed dimension

    Dear all,
I know this has been asked quite often but I haven't found a solution for my problem here. Believe me I have done a lot of searching across the net ..
What I want to do is the following:
I have two fact tables with a number of common dimensions. A report should show the two facts across these common dimensions.
To keep it simple I start with only one common dimension.
Here's what get's to the db from OBIEE:
    *SELECT Revenue."Date (YYYYMMDD)" saw_0, Sales."Day Day Code" saw_1, Revenue."TPV (Total Payment Volume in Millicent [€])" saw_2, Sales.DEBIT_AMOUNT saw_3 FROM "Company KPIs" ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_3*
Note that *Revenue."Date (YYYYMMDD)"* and *Sales."Day Day Code"* are the same field from the common time dimension. I just put them in different presentation tables for the end users.
TPV and DEBIT_AMOUNT are facts from the two different cubes.
    Everything fine, right?
Now I look at the nqquery.log:
    RqList
Dim Time.Day Day Code as c1 GB,
Dim Time.Day Day Code as c2 GB,
    *Tpv:[DAggr(Cube Revenue.Tpv by [ Dim Time.Day Day Code, Dim Time.Day Id, CUBE_SALES.DEBIT_AMOUNT] )] as c3 GB,*
    CUBE_SALES.DEBIT_AMOUNT as c4 GB,
Dim Time.Day Id as c5 GB
    OrderBy: c1 asc, c2 asc, c4 asc
now the bold thing looks odd to me. Is he trying to aggregate one cube based on the other? Could be the problem, but where to influence this?
And finally this translates into this query:
    WITH
    SAWITH0 AS (select distinct T4110.DEBIT_AMOUNT as c1,
    T281.DAY_DAY_CODE as c2,
    T281.DAY_ID as c3
    from
    DIM_TIME T281,
    CUBE_SALES T4110
    where ( T281.DIMENSION_KEY = T4110.DIM_TIME ) ),
    SAWITH1 AS (select distinct SAWITH0.c2 as c1,
    SAWITH0.c2 as c2,
    *cast(NULL as DOUBLE PRECISION ) as c3,*
    SAWITH0.c1 as c4,
    SAWITH0.c3 as c5
    from
    SAWITH0)
    select SAWITH1.c1 as c1,
    SAWITH1.c2 as c2,
    SAWITH1.c3 as c3,
    SAWITH1.c4 as c4
    from
    SAWITH1
    order by c1, c2, c4
As you see, the tpy ist gone and a NULL appears. That's what I see in the report. TPV is always NULL.
So where did I miss a configuration ???
    Thanks, Knut

You only need to set the content levels on the measures themselves when you want non-conformed dimensions in the report, as your working with fully conformed dims just make sure your levels are set on the content tab for each Logical Table source in the Logical fact table. Leave the non-conformed dim hierarchies as blank.
Remember - You should put a hierarchy on each logical dim , even if there is no real hierarchy, just have a total -> Detail.
You should always always always set your content levels for logical table sources, both in Dimensions and Logical fact LTS's.
If they are greyed out, make sure your not in read only, have checked the object out if on-line mode, failing that, perform the changes off-line then re-start your BI Server.

  • #datasync error - could that come from merging on fields from fact tables instead of dimensions tables?

I'm reporting out of two universes published by Epic
    1. Warehouse - Patient
    2. Warehouse - Transactions
I wanted to join two queries based on the primary key for a hospital encounter. Following the tutorial seemed pretty straightforward until I got to displaying data from a merged query.
The table displayed results from Query1, but adding fields from Query2 wiped out all the data in the table, leaving only #datasync in each field.
My workaround to get fields from both queries displayed (see screenshot)
    1. Merge queries on *two* fields - primary key of hospital encounter and primary key of patient
    2. Create new variable
    3. Make variable type Detail
    4. Associate variable with hospital encounter key from Query1
    5. Set formula equal to a field from Query2
I'm not sure why this workaround works or if what I'm experiencing is a symptom of something larger. Could this workaround be needed because I am merging on fields from a fact table instead of fields from a dimension table?
    Thanks in advance

You have defined merged dimension on 'company code-Key' which is common in both the Bex-queries.
You are able to bring the merged dimension and other objects from  Query_ One to report block without any issue but when adding objects from Query_Two you are getting the error #DATASYNC.
In this case objects from Query_One are got sync with the merged dimension object without any issue because they got added first to it.
Similarly when you add merged dimension and objects from Query_Two you find no issue, because objects from Query_Two go sync first.
Once objects from a query(Query_One/Query_Two) got added to a merged dimension, when we try adding objects from other query we get #DATASYNC error. This is because data in the other query is not able to sync with the initial result set, this is a know behavior.
    There are two workarounds:
    1) Merging all common dimension/characteristic objects: Only merged dimensions data will sync with the initial query,  un-merged dimensions/characteristic objects will still give #DATASYNC error.
    2) Create detail objects/attribute objects at report level for all uncommon characteristic/dimension objects from query_two referring to merged dimension. Then add these newly created detail/attribute objects to the table block that is having initial query objects with merged dimension, with this you see result set of query_two in the table block  not #DATASYNC error.

  • Oracle Assets Category-wise Report from FA and GL tables

    Hi,
I am developing a customized report (Schedule of Fixed Assets) in the Oracle Assets Module, Which includes Category Wise Opening Balance, additions, adjustments, transfer IN, Transfer OUT and Retirements of Cost and Depreciations. I am using FA tables (FA_CATEGORY_BOOKS, FA_CATEGORIES_B) for category_id, category_name (segment1 of category combination) and book_type_code (Book Name). And I am also using GL tables (GL_BALANCES, GL_JE_HEADERS, GL_JE_LINES) for the amount of begin_balance_dr,begin_balance_cr,accounted_dr and accounted_cr.
The report gets the category_id,category_name from FA_CATEGORIES_B and book_type_code, asset_account_ccid, reserve_account_ccid and book_type_code from FA_CATEGORY_BOOKS for a single book. The sum of accounted_dr or sum of accounted_cr is calculated for a single category_id whose asset_account_ccid is matched with code_combination_id of GL_JE_LINES.
There are 15 books each have many projects (FA_CATEGORIE_B.segment6). This report is working as desired for 14 books but in one book there is same asset_account_ccid and reserve_account_ccid for more than one category_id(s). That’s why the same amount is displayed against the multiple category_ids .
As functionally it is possible in Oracle Assets to have same asset_account_ccid or reserve_account_ccid for more than one category_ids, I want to know that is there any other attribute(except asset_account_ccid,reserve_account_ccid and code_combination_id) which can be used to get the separate data for each category_id from GL tables.

  • Reports from Java and Oracle database

    Hi
I need to generate couple of reports from my application, with Java as front end and oracle 11.2.0.3.0.  database . Reports are  having very simple select statements, using the criteria users enter from GUI. we don't need to execute a  direct select statement from Java, with the where clauses . I did some research and found out about Pipelined functions. I tested for a small set of records and it worked fine. Will this work for large data set? any drawbacks of using this method?  Any other methods for this requirement?
    Thanks in advance
    JP

Pipeline table functions do not sound like the appropriate approach. It is designed to primarily deal with data transformations. Using it as a rendering engine for report writing? There are fundamental problems with such an approach.
As Dave and Andre commented - the CORRECT means for PL/SQL to pass "data" to Java (or other client languages) is via reference cursors (pointers that the client can use for referencing SQL cursor programs on the server). And Java as a report writer does not really compare with the ease and flexibility that Oracle Apex (Application Express) provides as a reporting framework.

  • Combined report from FS10N and COMAC

    Dear experts,
I would like to combine some fields in report, taken from FS10N and COMAC. The report is to display production order with account balance amount with status work in progress (gl account xxx). Beside query, is there any standard report to display  data combined from transaction codes above?
    Thank you in advance.

    Pranav,
you entered in FS10N and hit twice to get details, then you are in line item report from FS10n similar to FBL3n. In this report you display only what you have in line item screen. You don't have Cost Object in this instance since this line item is balance sheet account.
You have to develop a report which fetches from PO tables
Check below transaction and enter you document number in dynamic selection:
    S_ALR_8701228
Here you can see differences among line items and cost assignment.

  • Aging report of vendor and ekorg related amount

    Hi,
My requirement is for vendor 122 within certain period for certain ekorg-c100
    and D100 show different amount.
is it possible for vendor aging report.
I developed a vendor aging report for displaying comp-code, vendor, Pur-org,
Total-amount, month wise  amount picking from bsik-dmbtr.
    I added a field EKORG ( Pur Org ) from lfm1 table with D100 and C100.
And total amount for vendor 122  for a period from 01.01.2009 to 09.09.2009 is 5000/- Rs.
when a new P.O. is crated using Ekorg C100 of amount 2000/-.
    My problem is :
After execution of report for same vendor 122 with ekorg c100.
Then it shouid show 7000/- Rs.
And After execution of report for same vendor 122 with ekorg D100.
Then it shouid show 5000/- Rs.
My report is showing same amount in both d100 and c100.
My report is showing same amount 7000/- in D100 and C100 for vendor 122.
Amount picking Bsik table has not ekorg field.
Please let me know  how can i do that ?

  • Calling report from form and after parameter form trigger

Hi, I've also posted to this to the reports forum but because it works from Reports Builder it may be a forms issue which is why I'm x-posting. Apologies.
I have a report that creates a file, desname is set in the after parameter form trigger (it uses one of the parameter values).
The problem is file is not created using the path and filename set in the trigger, the file is created in the bin folder with the name account_by_service_type.txt (account_by_service_type.rdf is the report definition).
If the desname is set in the before parameter form AND a field with the source=desname is added to the parameter form then the file will be created with the correct path and name however it won't have the relevant parameter incorporated into the file name obviously.
I've noticed in other reports that where the desname is being set in the after parameter form that I've had to pass the desname from the form but obviously I cannot do that here either.
    Am I missing something obvious?

  • Im thinking of buying an iPad 2 is it compatible with pcs? can i downloud a report from it and then use excel on a pc from there?

I am thinking of buying and I pad 2.  Is it compatible with pcs?  Is it a good option for a college computer? I have a Mac at home that i can use to print written reports off but is it possible to download a report to a pc and use excel or some other system like that? Or does Apple have app like excel.
Also do most professors accept Apple documents? Like pages and such.
    Thanks for the Assist Ashton.

iPads are absolutely compatible with Windows PCs. Through iTunes File Sharing you can transfer documents from supported apps to your computer. Most professors don't support iWork file formats, however iWork on the iPad can save in either iWork format or Microsoft Office format so you will be fine as long as you save it as an Office format.

  • Calling Reports from Forms, and creating Reports objects

Hello I'm trying to create a Form which lists and launches all of our Reports. In our Client/Server set up we just have a Form which is based on a lookup table of Reports. When the user selects a report on the Form RUN_PRODUCT is used to call the report.
In Forms 9, do I have to create a Report object in the Form for every Report in our system and do I really have to modify the Form every time a new Report is created to add the new Report in?

    Hello,
<p>No, one single report object could fit for any report, if you modify its properties at runtime.<br>
For information, I have written a Forms 9i module able to run any report with 0 up to 10 parameters</p>
    <p>Hope this helps</p>

  • Join multiple facts and dimensions for reporting issue

    Hi,
I have a report requirements and need to use multiple fact tables and unconformed dimensions as described below
    Fact table: F1,F2,F3
    Dimensions tables: D1.....D9
    F1:(joined to) D1,D2,D3,D4
    F2::(joined to)D1,D2,D5,D6
    F3::(joined to)D1,D2,D7,D8
    D7::(joined to)D9,D8 (dimension D7 joined to two other dimensions D9 and D8
I'm trying to use columns from almost all the fact and dimension tables but getting "Unable to navigate requested expression. Please fix the metadata consistency warnings."
Repository is consistent and no errors and warnings.
How can I configure the repository to develop reports using all fact tables and dimensions?
    Appreciate for your help.

  • Urgent - How to join multiple facts and dimensions in OBIEE rpd??

    Hi,
In my RPD I have 3 facts and 4 dimensions and the joins defined are as below
Physical layer - All joins are FK and inner (1:N)
    FACTA-------------- DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL
    FACTB-------------- DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL
    FACTC-------------- DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL, DIM_XYZ
BM layer - All joins are complex, inner
The logical table F1 pulls columns from FACTA, FACTB and FACTC . Complex join exists between all 4 dimensions DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL, DIM_XYZ to logical table F1.
Issue: I need to build a report with $ column from FACTA, FACTB and FACTC and need to add filter conditions using columns from DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL, DIM_XYZ.
However when ever I add a filter condition from DIM_XYZ the physical query generated is not generating code to access data from FACTA and FACTB. Instead it is subsituting a NULL and just pulls data frm FACTC.
My Questions: What is the best way to build the physical and BMM layer using FACTA, FACTB,FACTC, DIM_TIME, DIM_CUST,DIM_CAL and DIM_XYZ??
I need to resolve this issue ASAP so any help is appreciated. Thanks
