Report is showing "null" string for null values.

hi ,
I am new to BI Publisher and creating a report in BI Publisher. In the result set for null values, report is printing as "null". I checked the query , it gives blank (empty value) data for null values. But in report it is coming as "null" value (string "null"). I require to show the report as blank data for null values. Can you please help me to find solution for this ?.

    I am facing the following issue.
    We have a report which is fetching data from the infocube.Whenever we check the report we are facing the issue : report doesnt show the text for ~10 employee ids,its showing the key in both key and text columns, its showing both text and key for the remaining employee ids.We checked the master data for employee id and it contains master for the employee ids which are not displayed text in the report.
    Can any body help on this.

    Hi Prasad,
    for your infoobject do you have all three texts available (short, medium and long)? Are all three loaded? You might have the wrong text displayed in your report. Check if you have the short, medium or long texts displayed. Dont forget to check the languages too ....

    Thank you for the reply. So, there is no screen that shows all the responsibilities that are assigned to a operating unit.
    The link that you provided really did not give any information that i was looking for.
    And as you said .. "there is no specific screen to show all except responsibilities form".... what does the responsibilities form show,
    I have also tried to look in the System Administrator -> Profile -> System
    and in the Responsibility, I query for Payables manager, and look which Orgs are assigned to it, I am not able to find it. I know I am wrong, but can you please help me how to see which responsiblity is assigned to which Operating Unit.

  • Report Designer odbc connection string for data source using a parameter

    I am using stand alone report designer 3 for the present and have a question/problem regarding the odbc connection string for MySQL when setting up the data-source
    I need to be able to enter a parameter which is the database name i.e. BOE-201401 or say BOE-201312 etc  from a list of databases the user can choose from.
    at present the odbc connection string points to BOE-201402
    the connection string is at present  Dsn=Development Server for MYsql;description=MYSQL;server=ldndw01;database=BOE-201402;port=3306
    my parameter has the name BOE_DATABASE
    and in an expression it is  as such
    =Parameters!BOE_DATABASE.Value
    I want to point the datasource for the report to the parameter value before the user sees the report.

    Based on your description, we want to design a report with a dynamic DataSource connection string. There are the basic steps below for your reference:
    Create report with static database.
    Change data source to report parameter.
    Send new database connection string as a report parameter.

  • BI Report is showing two rows for a single record

    Dear Experts
    This is Raja
    I am Facing one issue in BI Report,
    I have created report based on a Infocube which is getting data from two DSO. one is Standard [ Billing Condition Data]and another one is ZDSO[Targets}. these two requests go in the Infocube
    1. Budget- zdbudget [DSO]
    2.Actuals -0sd_o06 [DSO]
    I need to make report  Like this :For a specific period
    EX:1
    Material    Sold to party    Actual   Budget/Target     Variance    Actual YTD  Budget YTD

    here budget{ Budget DSO} values i am getting Material wise sold to party is not coming through file. But for Actual values sold to party is coming, that's why my report is showing like this..
    Ex:2
    Material    Sold to party    Actual   Budget/Target     Variance    Actual YTD  Budget YTD
    M100        S100                 21                                      10               21                 
                                      30                       -30                                        30
    Since the sold to party is not available in Budget DSO in the report For Every Material it's showing Two Rows.
    How can bring this in to one Line..Like EX:1

    And you want to see like below.
    Material Sold to Party Act Bud

    M1          S2               200   50
    If this is your requirement, let the sold to party be in Rows.
    In columns, for budget, create a local selection, drag budget kf, sold to party (restrict this by # and right click and choose constant selection). This makes the budget kf independent of what is coming in the rows and always shows data corresponding to sold to party #. Hope this is clear.

  • How to set the filter on a report to show the data for the Current Month

    Hi all,
    I am working on a report, which currently has this filter: Date First Worked is greater than or equal to 10/01/2010. This reports show the data for the current month, so at the beginning of each month we have to remember to change the date on the filter.
    Does anyone know what the criteria should say, so that it automatically changes and shows the information for the current month, without us having to go in and change anything?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    You need to add a session variable to date fir worked assuming that this is a date field.
    To do this open up the filter on the field then at then press add Variable then "session" and enter the following CURRENT_MONTH into the Server Variable section.

    User need  in the Selection Screen for select options  more rows to show entering values in single time.
    THe Default Rows show only 5 .
    user need to change to 10 or 15 Rows to show.

    Here is the way which I just tested and found working.
    This is the main code which needs to be written.
    TYPES:
        ty_r_vbeln TYPE RANGE OF vbeln,

    field-symbols <fs_range> TYPE INDEX TABLE.
    ASSIGN lt_range->* TO <fs_range>.

    For further refinement, you can create a input field in view for number of lines to be shown as enabled.
    The complete code is as below.

    Please check that you have run the Managed System Configuration using solman_setup. This step is important, especially if you had just updated your Solution Manager system.
    Do you have the correct data in the Workload Analysis?

  • BPMon alert reporting not showing any data for Trend Analysis

    Hi,
    I have setup BPMon and performed the initial setup for BW reporting. There are alerts being generated by the BPMon setup and the data has been transferred to the 0SM_BPM cube.
    But when I start the Trend Analysis report I dont get any Solution for selection to generate the trend analysis chart.
    I have followed all the steps mentioned in the setup guide. Please suggest any remedy.

    If your query is on multiprovider , then makesure to check there are no restrictions/filters on cubes.
    Also inlcude any keyfigure from the cube,where other characteristics are being assigned from or where u r seeing data, in the query.
    If you dont want to see the Keyfigure, u can hide it using keyfigure display properties in the query designer.

  • Help: matrix report grid lines missing for null values only on server side

    I created a matrix report in pdf format. The output in great when run through report builder locally, it renders all necessary details. However, after the report being moved into AS server, the report does not show grid lines for null values.
    It looks to me this has something to do with configurations and hope someone know what needs to be done.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    There should be a fix as I had same issue with same Oracle version at my previous company. DBA fixed the issue on AS server.
    I found your post on 09/28/2010 with a link to patch set: Re: Null value fields disappear  in pdf output format
    We worked out with the work around without install the patch.

    How can I provide a choice format string for null or empty substitution strings?
    I know one would not nomally do this, but the substitution strings are being passed in by an independant legacy code. I need something equivalent to
    Some message with a choice {0,choice,null#nothing|not-null#something}

    I have one more query. Whenever we add a new column to any table in Oracle, the column name is stored in Upper case. So when we generate XML File from the database, all the tags are either in upper case (or we can use qry.useLowerCaseTagNames() to retrieve the tag names in lower case). But the XSD contains tag names in mixed case. So when validating the XML Document against an XSD, it throws a validation error.
    Is there any way I can avoid this?

    The difference is that an empty String is just empty but a null String has no value (i.e. it is not instantiated) this has signifigance since all Strings are objects.

  • Multiple Rows for Same Value in Matrix Report

    I am trying to create a matrix report that shows different page for each Category. Report looks like follows:
    Page1( for Category '1')
    Agent |
    Calls |
    Sales
    TestAgent1 18
    3
    TestAgent1 5
    1
    Page2( for Category '2')
    Agent |
    Calls |
    Sales
    TestAgent1 26
    5
    TestAgent1 13
    2
    The issue is as you can see in above table, that i am getting repeated rows for same agents. I have tried making a parent group on Agent but it would still keep showing multiple rows. Ideally, it should show each agent only once in each page.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    PS: I am new to SSRS and this is my first time on microsoft blog, so i apologize if i wasn't able to follow the protocols/culture here.

    According to your description, you want to show a total Calls and total Sales for same agent so that it has only one row for each agent in your category group. Right?
    In this scenario, if you only have a row group for category, it will show all “detail rows” in this groups even the agent of these rows are same one. So we can add a row group, set those detail rows group by agent and use Sum function to get the total Calls
    and Sales. It looks like below:
    If we want to display each Page in horizontal, we just need one Category column group for grouping rows and use sum function to get total Calls and Sales for each agent. It looks like below:
