Report layout question for 6i

I'm using reports 6i and have what I think is a simple report requirement but I'm unable to set the properties to get it to report correctly...
I have a report where I would like to print one record per page (essentially a form letter). The page is driven by one large table that is filled prior to the report being executed and has a large number of columns.
There are essentially two sections - the top is a header with a lot of detailed information, and the bottom is three large "text boxes". These boxes can have up to 2000 characters each. What I would like to do is have the boxes print AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, without causing output to be pushed to another page.
I don't want FIXED because in some cases, two of the areas may be small, but the last area (text box) large, and then it won't print.
I tried CONTRACT, but then the text boxes appeared to grow no bigger than the box on the screen, but would be rendered in as many pages as required to print the report. Also, with CONTRACT, it appeared that if the text required less space than the box for the field, that the next two items would not be "moved up" unless I placed an anchor between them. I thought implicit anchors would move them up if I checked "keep with anchoring object".
I tried expand and variable and had the same problem with multiple pages.
What is the solution for this?
For a test case, I modified DEPT and increased with LOC and DNAME columns to varchar2(4000), and put 2943 and 3839 characters in each respectively. When I tried each of the above options in a simple "form-like" report, it behaved similarly.
I've also tried drawing a frame around all three boxes and making its vertical elasticity FIXED and setting PAGE PROTECT, but that did not prevent it from rendering on other pages.
If you need any additional information, I'm eager to provide it. This is driving me nuts!!

Hi,
So you want to print as much as possible on a page, and do not want it to overflow to other pages.
Well, I'm not sure if a solution other than FIXED or CONTRACT elasticity is possible.
If you create a frame round all boxes, and make it fixed width, a new instance of the frame will start on the next page.
If you set elasticity variable / expand, this will not prevent the boxes to overflow to following pages.
You should be able to achieve what you need by setting elasticity to FIXED / CONTRACT. In case you choose contract, you need to use anchors. By the way, elasticity contract should not allow the text to overflow to subsequent pages, but make sure you have set the elasticity on the text box, and not on the frame.

  • Custom report layout question...can't find any answers anywhere

    I am trying to build a report in Portal, using the custom report layout. The report displays like so, before I do any customization:
    COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    where COLUMN1 is the same value, always per report; COLUMN2 and COLUMN3 vary.
    What I want is:
    COLUMN1
    COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    COLUMN2 COLUMN3
    In the report layout editor, Body section, this is what I see:
    <TD ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN1.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN2.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN3.FIELD#></TD>
    so #COLUMN1.FIELD# must be some kind of array, but I am not finding any documentation anywhere on how to reference the individual values. All I need is the very first value of the COLUMN1 variable. Once I have that value, I can put it where I need it, but I can't get at that value, just the array.
    I have searched portal center, the app server documentation, html documentation. I have googled everything I could think of, but came up with nothing. I found a similar question on this forum, but no one responded with an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Helen,
    The best way for your case is to use a content folder and customize it whichever way you like.
    however, your question is about reports. the problem in reports is this that you have to use just one single query and the layout of the results of this query are displayed in a peculiar way.
    anyway. something similar but not exactly the same as what you wanted do is the following.
    use a query like the following: (with a union in between)
    SELECT COLUMN1,NULL , NULL ,NULL ,NULL
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    UNION
    SELECT NULL,COLUMN2 , COLUMN3, COLUMN4, COLUMN5
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    ---------- Now, have the following codes in the layout segments:
    <!--- header --->
    <table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" width="20%" align="center">
    <!--- body --->
    <tr align="center">
    <td><table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="30%" align="center">
    <tr align="center">
    <TH><#COLUMN1.FIELD#></TH>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </td>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN2.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN3.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN4.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN5.FIELD#></TD>
    </tr>
    <!--- footer --->
    <TR><TD></TD></TR>
    this should produce a report with a table structure (you may see the whole if you give BORDER="1" in the main table tag). Within this table, the first column of the first row should be showing top-leftmost column value once (COLUMN1 value) and then the next rows would show last four column values as a table block on the right-bottom part.
    with kind regards,
    naqvi

  • Crystal Report Layout asking for Login Info

    I have modified the Delivery Note Crystal Report Layout for Business One by clicking the Edit button on the Report and Layout Manager for Delivery Note (Items).  I then saved my modifications to a file.  Finally, I go into Business One and import the Layout for Delivery Note (Items).  When I preview the Layout it asks me for login information then continues to fail.  How dow I make it so I can print the Delivery without having to constantly log in?

    Hi Jeff,
    I recently had a similar problem on an 8.82 implementation, having contacted and spoken to SAP Support multiple times these suggested fixes worked:
    The request to login to the database when you open or print preview a Crystal
    report is a known issue. To resolve this, I recommend you go through our Root
    Cause Analysis (RCA) guide. Please see attac hed Note 1676353 on where to find
    this. There are four Cases in this guide (which contain a number of Influences)
    - please go through all Cases and Influences.
    We also tried the following:
    STEP 1:
    Influence 2: Case 2 is to clear all the data for login (e.g. sa and
    password - delete them) and then ticked 'Integrated Security#.
    - Influence
    3: #: Check the current datasource is to update connection.
    - Retest opening
    the system reports on a workstation.
    - If they are still reporting an error
    try the next step
    - STEP 2:
    - Change the datasource location of
    the report from OLE DB to SAP Business One type and leave the
    authentication
    information blank. Try running the report in Crystal, and then import to SAP.
    And also opened up the Crystal Report via the Edit button in SAP in Reports and Layouts Manager, we then clicked on the database connection and updated all the tables (even though they were the same) and these got the reports needed working. Speaking to SAP it is a known bug and they are releasing a hotfix to resolve it, but try explaining that to a customer !!!
    Hope these help.

  • New Crystal Report Layout 2008 for Checks for Payment

    I just created a new Check for Payment Layout in CR2008 for SBO. When I print it from CR2008, it prints ok. The situation is when I print from SBO. A message appears (Neither the system nor the account has a printing definition.  , '11-201-013874-5'  [Message 65030-7]) but shows the preview ok. When I print it, it turns 90 degrees and is centered in the page.
    I has a special Page size (14cmx19cm) and a dot matriz printer (Epson 300+II) Only fron SBO does it change the page orientation. What can I do ?

    Hi,
    2 Things in my mind now:
    1, try dissociating the page in CR page setup
    2, dot matrix printing support is till 8.8 (or 8.81?) is only available to like 3-4 types, check the compatibilty!
    (3, file a message to SAP, i have almost the same problem with an eticket printer.. maybe if more of us complain they ramp up the importance of non a/4 printing)
    Hope you don't need to redo from scratch in PLD as i had to...
    Hope at least i could give you some guidance.
    Regards,

  • REPORT LAYOUT QUESTION

    What is the best method of adding "space" between columns of my reports. When I create my reports, the data is often too close together, making the report hard to read. I would like to add white space between my columns.
    Mark

    There are a couple of ways. In the part of the builder where you can change the column name, you can add the &nbsp html code for space. For example, if I have a column called EMPLOYEE_NAME, I can change it to Employee&nbsp&nbsp
    You can also add html tags in there too.
    If you are using a "Custom" report, you can go to the part of the builder where you can edit the html tags. You should see something like <#BLAH.LABEL#>. You can just add a space there in between <TD> and </TD>.

  • Question about reports layout

    Hi ,
    I have a quick question about report Layout.
    I have created a report in 6i. Now if I want to change my
    select statement and add new table to select from , it just
    restructures my report layout again and set that to Default One.
    Is there any way where I can set my Own layout as Default for
    that particular Report ?
    I would really appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks
    Vidya

    Try to give it alias names to the columns . Then when you
    change the table your are selecting from . The layout should
    not change.

  • Oracle bi publisher report for apex - Report Layout

    Hi There,
    Navigation: Home>Application Builder>Application 20>Shared Components>Report Layouts
    I created rtf template for a Report Query. It worked fine upto certain point.
    However at some point, if I make a minor modification to the layout it is not displaying all the data that it is supposed to.
    I have 3 tables in my RTF template 1) Header 2) Details 3) Summary. Details section has a group. This runs fine.
    Now if I just combine all the above 3 tables into one by adding row above and row below to the "2) details" table and moving the table 1 and table 3 into those rows, makes the data in the group in table 2 disappear when run on the apex application.
    However it works fine when data is loaded on the RTF template and Preview --> PDF is seen.
    Is it a known bug? Because some of my coleagues has same issues.
    Thanks

  • Standard Report layouts in Crystal 2008 for SBO 2007A

    It has been 2 years since SBO adopted Crystal Reports to become part of the standard product, I refer back to the initial links which promised links to Standard Reports, however 2 years later these links appear to be exactly the same, no updates.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/807d22cb-cb1d-2b10-8794-fb76d7feca88#section12 [original link is broken]
    For SBO 8.8 there appears to be a pack of Reports available for Sales Orders, Purchase Orders etc
    I would like to know if there a pack of standard Crystal reports for SBO 2007A and if so where would we be able to find them?
    Many thanks

    I found the following link

    It has the following - Crystal Reports Layout - IT Invoice Layout for Release 2007 A

  • View Crystal Report Layout for my UDO Form

    Hi all,
    I try to view a report created for my UDO form. I set all settings in Administration -> Setup -> General -> Report and Layout Manager. Now I wonder what should be assigned to  eventInfo.LayoutKey. I tried assigned report's DocCode from RDOC, DocEntry of my UDO object or UDO Code but nothing works. Always get an error: Incorrect format of argument or something like that - I didn't get an error in English so I tried to translate it.
    How to show a report layout for my UDO form?
    Regards
    Szymon Lipnicki

    Hi and thanks for Your reply.
    Help file contains example how to open report layout prepare in Crystla Reports designer for UDO form.
    //Add Layout Key Event Handler
    SBO_Application.LayoutKeyEvent += new SAPbouiCOM._IApplicationEvents_LayoutKeyEventEventHandler(SBO_Application_LayoutKeyEvent);
    void SBO_Application_LayoutKeyEvent(ref SAPbouiCOM.LayoutKeyInfo eventInfo, out bool BubbleEvent)
        BubbleEvent = true;

  • Importing Crystal Report layout for customer statements

    Hello,
    I have imported a crystal report layout to use for the customer statements when running them from the ageing report.  The problem is even if we only select one business partner in the ageing report, when we print preview the statement it displays statements for all business partners - this is because in the crystal report there are no parameters.  I know that when you import a layout like this for other documents you need to use for example, {ORDR.DocEntry}={DocKey@} as the parameter however the customer statements don't have a docentry.  When I look at the system statement layout (collection layout), when you run the report you get an ADO.NET (XML) connection prompt.  Is it possible to use the crystal layout i have for the customer statements but for only the customer(s) showing on the ageing report?
    Many thanks,
    Kate

    So just to make it clear,
    you want an overview of open invoices from 1 customer.
    If so, try this in crystal reports :
    Create a parameter field (field explorer)
    Name : CardName
    Type : String
    Value : Static
    do not select a value field (none)
    press ok.
    Select expert
    Create new
    Starts with
    type this : {?CardName}
    press add
    Click formula editor and make it look like this :
    {OINV.DocStatus} = "o" and
    {OINV.CardName} startswith {?CardName}

  • Can somebody give some real time questions for alv report

    hi guru
    can somebody give some real time questions for alv report.
    answers also.
    regards
    subhasis.

    hi,
    The ALV is a set of function modules and classes and their methods which are added to program code. Developers can use the functionality of the ALV in creating new reports,  saving time which might otherwise have been spent on report enhancement
    The common features of report are column    alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. <b>To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).</b>
    Using ALV, we can have three types of reports:
       1. Simple Report
       2. Block Report
       3. Hierarchical Sequential Report

  • Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR

    Hallo,
    The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
    How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
    Has someone any idea where to configure this?
    Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
    "If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
    http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
    How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
    Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
    "fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
    The default report layout is not saved in:
    select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
    Thx, Willi

    I've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
    1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
    [ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
    [ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
    declare
    v_xsl varchar2(32767);
    begin
    v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
      <fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
      <fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>';
    APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
    end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
    The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
    Hope this may help someone,
    Willi

  • Download and Upload  Report Layout for End User

    hi, i did the following
    1. create an xml data file
    2. load in in bipublisher
    3.create a layout
    4. create a report query in apex and load the rtf created in step 3
    5. test the report.
    it works fine.
    my requirement is for trained end users (bipublisher trained) to download the rtf and edit it if need be. most of the editing will be text and they will not be editing any data fields. i will create a button for the end user to download the report layout, but what api can i use to download the rtf for them and where should i move the report layout (any apis for this) upon upload after the rtf is edited by the user.

  • Report Layout is not same for excel and odf

    I have a footer created in my report layout
    When i export the report to pdf it displays at the end of the page but when I export it to an excel
    the footer displays just below my report data and not at the end
    Should there be a different layout for pdf's and excel's

    The order of extracted records can no be assumed to be constant, any SQL optimizer can change behavior, even without any wide upgrade, but a single database or kernel patch as well as many operation of database administrator can change the order, as well as a change of user behavior, if they fill now another field in selection. So it is good practices to always sort (or use sorted type) internal table extracted or use a ORDER BY clause (provided there is an index in database, else do not)
    Read online documentation of SELECT statement clause ORDER BY
    The order of the rows in the result set refers to all columns that are not listed after ORDER BY, is undefined, and can be different in repeated executions of the same SELECT statement.
    There are also some [MANY > 1000] OSS notes on the subject (look for your database, e.g.  1858427 - Incorrect Sorting of SQL-Select Statement, 1859655 - The result set of an SQL-Select Statement may not be sorted, 1858479 - Result set of select statement is not sorted, 1858569 - Incorrect access to result set of SELECT statement, etc.)
    Also if you sort an internal table and require records with same key values to keep their respective order, use the STABLE clause.
