Report margin

Hi,
My problem is: The paper size is 4"x2" and I've design the report
to print with no margin in report builder,
but when I print the report from the printer, the margin is added.
I would like to know how to set the report margin to 0.
If you know, please tell me asap.
Thanks in advance,

There will always be some margin, since printers can only print to the edge of their printable areas (i.e., a printer cannot print to the very edge of a piece of paper).

Danny

I try to use deviceinfo for this and set the below device info, it is not work out. It always render the report with design time margin. Is it right approach? Are there any issue on below deviceinfo?. Thanks in advance.

  • Crystal report - margins problem

I have a problem with top and bottom margins in my report. In the designer view - File>Page Setup - I have the paper size (A4 210X297 cm). Both the top and bottom margins are set to 2 cm which, If I understand it correctly, printing should start exactly 2 cm from the top and end at 2 cm from the bottom of a page.
However, no matter what I do, it starts printing 1.5 cm from the top and ends at 3 cm from the bottom of a page.
I have the 'Dissociate Formatting page size and printer paper size turned off so that should not influence anything and even if it's turned on makes no difference.
In Designer view when I look at the ruler the Report Header - it is exactly 25.5 cm in length. For some reason unknown to me I can't make it any longer. If I add even 1 or 2 mm to the length, the printing spills over to a new page.
I'm printer to a HP laser printer - nothing fancy - other programs like Word prints to the same printer with no margin issues whatsoever.
I will appreciate it so much if someone can point me in the right direction, please.

    Hi Danie,
the problem is not inside CR, not your printer, but how SBO print engine handles paper sizeing and margin. (for just one simple thing: set the margin inside SBO, and you'll notice nothing changes).
This is especially problematic with CR margins.
On load the print engine gets the paper sizes from windows, and sticks to them. In my experience, it handles the margins as CR:
fixed 2cm-s of any paper size ( this was my main problem, imagine it: printing on a 4,5*3,5 label, with 2cm margins =S, every other application did it right, from CR it was right, from CR to PDF to print it was right, from SBO PLD it was right, from SBO>CR>PDF>Print it was right, but no matter what i did, the SBO>CR>Print was using wrong margins).
Try dissociating the papersize in CR and setting custom sizes/margins, sometimes, after many trial and error that works.
I had made to date ~10 special sized/print scenario solution in CR (along many other standard sized reports), sometimes the above stated can achieved, but mostly i just add a corrected paper size to windows, set it as default and the ~100 trial and error falls back to ~15 rounds..
I'm sorry to hear your disappointed in CR, sometimes i'm also feel like that, and i completely agree that it is overrated, but i think it is a great solution for things. It's not a miracle tool, but it handles well in most default situation, and you can construct insanely complex reports with relative ease (if you lear how to utilize SQL inside CR along with Crystalsyntax). But i agree, handling papersizes it is.. well.. you know.
Lets hope will get the neat 2011 version someday to SBO..

  • Report margin on export to PDF

    Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2008, Project Server and Report Builder 3.0 and have just inherited an issue.
    I have two reports:
D_Subreport: This report contains all logic and detail
    D_Report: A report referencing D_Subreport as a Subreport
In one of our SharePoint project sites we run the D_Report, this has a dropdown parameter which allows multi selection. This works as expected - the report displays in the browser with no margins as per the designed report, on export to PDF it has a margin
set, I'm not sure where this is set(?), but it looks good to us.
The problem, when running the D_Subreport from another Project site (no multi select as it runs under the context of the project site) the reports displays as expected in the browser, however on export to PDF there are
NO margins. It seems as though having a containing parent report creates margins within the PDF, running Subreport directly does not.
How do I get it to display using the same margins as D_Report?
    Thanks

    Thanks.
My problem was that one report had margins and the other didn't - Plus it turns out a Subreport's margins are ignored by the parent report. I had to create a duplicate report in our scenario.

  • Report Margins.. Not saving in .REP file?

    dear all
I create a report and setup its Paper Size, margins etc after selecting desired Printer. Then I run it and take prints, it prints according to my settings. But when I compile it (control T making .rep), the output of this .rep file is not according to the margins I give in settings. Especially the left margin which I set from 0.166 to 0.058, changes to 0.166 in .rep file. How I can make this change permanently to a .rep report? Cause end user do not like to change these setting always before sending a report to printer.
    Thanks

I can't open the vi in the moment. But by your description I think that I know the solution.
When you build the executable you've to add dinammically the vi's from report generator that aren't in your main vi hierarchy. So, you've to open the vi's and find those that are open trough "open vi reference" and add them dinamicaly.
And don't know if these tips are enough.
    From NI Zvezdana S.
"When you use the Report Generation Toolkit to build a stand-alone application with the Application Builder, you must add _Word Dynamic VIs.vi from _wordsub.llb and _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi from _exclsub.llb as dynamic VIs. These two VIs contain subVIs that are called dynamically by the high-level Report Generation VIs. I believe that if you grab these VIs from the (desired office version part of the) installation CD instead of from the development machine, then everything should work. "

  • Change report margins according to even or odd page number

    Greetings specialist!
I have a question regarding how can i change the left and right margins of a document depending wether it's an odd or even page.
I would like to know if its possible to setup a different header and footer for odd and even pages as well.
I tried using this formula in the left margin property of the report
    =IIF((Globals!PageNumber Mod 2)=0,"2,5cm","2cm")
But it doesn't allow me :(
    Thank you for your time
    PS: I'm using SSRS 2008

    Hello Visakh16
    Thanx for the help.
What do you mean by applying paging? It is not user input.
My question was whether user will decide number of rows based on which paging has to be done or is it based on some value grouping etc

  • Report margin is different in Live Previewer and AP

    Hi, expert:
I am using Report 6i and have encountered a problem of margin.
I created a report and in "Layout Model" I draged the borders to maximun the body part.
(Because I don't want my report has any margin).
It works fine when I use Live Previewer to see the result.
The result appears in the first line of window and there are no top and left margin.
However, after I launch my report to AP(financial module) and run it on the portal,
no matter I choose Excel or Browser to see the result, it always has top and left margin.
(Should be margin, right? Because it has empty space on the top and the left of the result)
I have no idea where to adjust it since in Report Builder there is no such empty space in Live Previewer.
Can anyone tell me where to adjust this? Thanks so much.

  • Oracle 6i - Report margin

    Hi,
I hv one report which is running in client machine not putting on the oracle apps. and is in character mode, Landscape. I need to print it on laserjet with A4 paper.
However, i can control the page very much as I can see the page layout is out. Where can I actually control the top, bottom, left & right margin more correctly ?
    Please HELP....IS URGENT!!
    Regards
    Lim

I would create a trigger for your MARGIN totals so they print only on the last page.
Have the trigger return TRUE if current page = total pages, else return FALSE.
This will make sure your margin totals are only visible on the last page.

  • Conditional Label in Reports Margin

dear friends, can I assign a conditional report label on its header margin. the values of label will be based on database fields and it will be determined by a database field. for example there r two tables, one contains values for label( say UNITS table having fields like Unit_Name, address, Phone#) and other one is INVOICE table whose invoice number will determine the values picked from UNITS table. e.g if Invoice_No is "1001" then unit_name and other values displayed in label will be "XYZ Corporation,N.Y,USA", else if invoice number is "2001" then label will be something like "ABC Corporation,WA,USA". I hope that I've given u a good understanding of my problem n u'll reply me quickly, thanx.

    Hi,
It is possible to do this. Create a formula column that returns char. This should be in the query group. Make sure you have selected the fields on which the label value is based, in the report query. You can then use this column as your label.
The code will be something like
    IF :invoice_no = '1001' THEN
    RETURN 'XYZ';
    ELSE
    RETURN 'ABC';
    END IF;
    Hope this helps,

  • The CR 2010 for VS engine changes the margins and scales the report

The CR 2010 for VS engine changes the margins and scales the report but only when printing.
    Environment:
    OS: Windows 7 x64 / Windows 2008 x64
    VS: VS 2010 x64
    CR designer: CR 2008 SP3.5
CR engine: CR 2010 for VS SP1
We have upgraded the Crystal Reports engine from version 10 to u201CCrystal Reports 2010 for VSu201D and are now having major issues with printing reports to preprinted papers, giro forms etc. because the report margins are changed and the reports are scaled (when report elements are in non-printable area?). Reports with elements in non-printable area are shown correctly in print preview (CR 2010 CrystalReportViewer) but moved to printable area when printed. This behavior was different in CR 10. Changing the PrintLayoutSettings in code is ignored when printing.
Error u2013 The printed reports are scaled:
    -     Print in the CR 2008 Designer SP2
    -     CR 2010 for VS SP1
OK u2013 The reports are not scaled:
    -     Print in the CR 2008 Designer SP3.5
    -     Print in the CR 10 Designer
    -     CR 10 engine
    Test:
    1) Crystal Reports Designer 2008 (with SP 3.5)
      a) Create a new blank RPT file.
      b) Set report margins to 0,0,0,0 in Page Setup.
      c) Add a box in the upper left corner (x=0, y=0).
      d) Select "Print preview" and validate that the box is located in 0,0 in preview window.
      e) Select u201CPrintu201D and validate that the box is located in 0,0 of the paper. Some of the box borders might be outside of the printable area but that is ok.
    2) Visual Studio 2010 and u201CCR 2010 for VSu201D with SP1:
      a) Create a new Windows Forms Application project (.NET Framework 4.0). Set project to u201C.NET Framework 4.0u201D and platform target u201Cx86u201D.
      b) Add the CrystalReportViewer control to Form1.
      c) Add the RPT file to the CrystalReportViewer control
      d) Run the application
      e) Validate that the box is located in 0,0 in the CrystalReportViewer control.
      f) Select the "Print" icon in the CrystalReportViewer
      h) Click the "Print" button and validate that the box is moved to the printable area which is wrong.
Notice: In the print dialog (CR 2010 for VS) select the "Layout" tab page and see that "Scale u2026" is selected and cannot be changed. This is different from the CR 2008 Designer even though that it is the same report file and printer.

I have done the requested test (and more - see below) and can not reproduce the issue.
    Tests done
    1) Crystal Reports Designer 2008 (with SP 3.5)
    a) Create a new blank RPT file.
    b) Set report margins to 0,0,0,0 in Page Setup.
    c) Add a box in the upper left corner (x=0, y=0).
    d) Select "Print preview" and validate that the box is located in 0,0 in preview window.
    e) Select u201CPrintu201D in the CR designer. Results in the box printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    f) Repeat all of above with a text field report
    g) Select u201CPrintu201D in the CR designer. Results in the text printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    2) Visual Studio 2010 and u201CCR 2010 for VSu201D with SP1:
    a) Create a new Windows Forms Application project (.NET Framework 4.0). Set project to u201C.NET Framework 4.0u201D and platform target u201Cx86u201D.
    b) Add the CrystalReportViewer control to Form1.
    c) Add the RPT file to the CrystalReportViewer control
    d) Run the application
    e) Validate that the box is located in 0,0 in the CrystalReportViewer control.
    f) Select the "Print" icon in the CrystalReportViewer
    g) Click the "Print" button
    h) Text filed report test results in the text printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    i) Box report test results in the text printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    3) VS2010 IDE
    a) Create a new blank RPT file.
    b) Set report margins to 0,0,0,0 in Page Setup.
    c) Add a box in the upper left corner (x=0, y=0).
    d) Preview report in the ID designer and validate that the box is located in 0,0 in preview window.
    e) Select u201CPrintu201D in the IDE designer. Results in the box printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    f) Run above report in code
    g) Preview report and validate that the box is located in 0,0 in preview window
    h) Select the "Print" icon in the CrystalReportViewer
    i) Click the "Print" button
    j) Text filed report test results in the text printing at 0,0 coordinate of the paper.
    k) Repeat all of above with a new report that uses a text field rather than a box.
None of my reports have the option "No Printer" checked.
All of my reports have the option "Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size" checked
From the above, you can see that all of the printing tests result in consistent printing, be it a report created in CR 2008 or CRVS2010, useing a box or a field. No difference in printing.
    Suggestions:
    1) I am not sure if you have followed the steps you recommended. E.g.; are you creating a new report or using your existing report? See if following the steps described reproduces the issue (it may be there is something specific to your existing reports)
    2) Make sure you have the latest printer driver available for your printer
    3) Try a different printer
    4) Add a report to the VS2010 IDE and preview the report in the IDE of VS2010
    5) Compare the "No Printer" and "Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size"  options
    6) Consider creating a phone case so a support technician can troubleshoot the issue with you

I don't use the Report Generation functions much but I can say that there is a Set Report Margins.vi under the Report Generation>Report Layout palette. It is not included in Sample Test Report.vi example but you can add it. Probably the reason you got the error when running Print Report.vi is that you didn't run the New Report.vi first in order to create a reference.

  • Report generation Footers

Greetings all... hope someone can help.
I inherited a huge Labview application that works well. I have been tasked with cleaning it up and adding some info to the report. The report uses the Report Generation Vi's including New Report, Append Image to Report, Set Report Font, etc... New Report is set to Word type. Report Generation Toolkit is installed. I am trying to add a footer to the report. I can do that easily enough, however, it seems like the footer is limited to 2" in length. As a result, the last 5 characters of the footer wraps to the next line. It does not matter whether I select left, center, or right. The footer is 25 characters long, and the font size is 12 (standard). The system is running Word 2007. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the footer to accept a longer text string.
I have attached an image of the section of code in question. pls... be nice lol  As I said, I inherited this and not much planning was done as to how the report would look at the time. You will see a string constant comprised of a number sequence going into the footer report vi. This is for testing only and allows me to see easily how many characters it will accept.
    can anyone help??????

    Hi Franco,
Much like when you write a document in Word, there is just a set limit to the amount of text you can fit across one line of the page.  Much like you can in Microsoft Word when editing yourself, you can use the Set Report Margins VI to set the margins to be smaller so that more text will fit on the page.  Apart from making the text's font smaller, this is one of the few solutions to fitting more text per line.  Thanks!
