Report Name Length Problem

Hies
Guys I've a problem in oracle report calling from Oracle FORMS. I am using reports and forms 6i. When the report name length is more than 30 characters the report engine runs first time correctly but on the second call of report the system gives an error :
" RWRBE60.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program ".
After this error the report engine closes and i have to call the report again.
Is there a length fixed for reports name in Oracle 6i.
Is any possible solution available.
Remember i dont want to shorten my report names.
Kindly help me with this.
Thanx.

There may be a limit, but I'm not aware of any. I never ran accross a limit. You may try the latest patch to see if it helps. What is your exact Developer version?
But I really have never seen report names of more than 10 characters or so. Almost every application has some short program coding, like xyz_0010.rep, r_emp.rep etc.
Do you mean the the name including the full path is more than 30 characters? If you put the path in the REPORTS60_PATH variable, your report names don't have to include the path.

  • Partition name length problem at DML in Table operator

    Hello experts
In our datawarehouse we have a table with a high number of partitions (each partition corresponding to a different business object) for solving an issue with data quality. Every time the data quality mapping is run, a truncate on the corresponding partition is performed. But Insert operations on that table are not set on a particular partition and, therefore, lock the table and have a conflict with the truncates if parallel operations are run.
We would like to used the Partition DML functionality at the Table Operator in order to insert just into one partition and prevent locking all of them. Although none of the partition names are longer than 30 characters, OWB (even at the GUI) adds the string "partition: " in front of each name, which causes the length limit to be surpassed.
Any idea about how could we use this functionality without renaming the partitions?

    Hey there,
I'm a colleague of the thread starter and like to jump in as this is an issue for us which we need to solve.
Some more infos which might help:
We are running the OWB 11.2.0.3.0 on Windows 32 Bit
We have the following patches installed:
    13257502
    13473205
None of the later patches has been installed, since none of the Bugs that were fixed affected us.
In a Mapping on a table-Operator we'd like to use "PARTITION DML" for an Insert.
On the GUI when selecting the Partition the data should be inserted to (Field: DML Partiton Name), we get the following error (in this instance the partition name is 24 characters long)
"API0407: The minimum length of this filed is 0 and its maximum length is 32. You have 35 characters."
In the Drop-down Menu of DML Partition Name it says "Partition: " in front of every partition there is. Together with a Partition name of 24 Characters it sums up to 35 characters.
So it appears that the maximum length of the partition is limited to 21 characters only because "Partition: " is put in front of it.
This error also appears when editing the Properties of the table operator by OMB*PLUS (from tcl) with
OMBALTER MAPPING 'mapname' MODIFY OPERATOR 'operatorname' SET PROPERTIES (DML_PARTITION_NAME, DML_PARTITION_TYPE, PARTITION_KEY_VALUE_LIST, IS_PARTITION_INDEXED_BY_NAME) VALUES ('$partition', 'PARTITION', '$someEmptyList', 'true')
where it does not make a difference whether $partition is of the form
    set partition "Partition: SOMEPARTITIONNAME"
    or
    set partition "SOMEPARTITIONNAME"
Renaming the Partitions is not an option for us, since our warehouse is running in multiple productive systems and became quite large in the last years.
Is it necessary, that "Partition: " is put infront of the partition name? Is there a way around this? Isn't the field DML_PARTITION_TYPE supposed to store the Information whether it is a partion or a subpartition?
If you wanted to use subpartitions, does the name of the subpartition then need to be even shorter since "Subpartiton: " is put infront?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. If you need further Information, feel free to ask, I am more than happy to supply it.
    Best Regards
    Thorsten

  • Problem with table name lengths.

Has anyone experienced with table name length problem?
When tables are created with schema registration, and the name is longer than 14 characters, the table is created. But when I "select * from xxxx_xxxx_xxxx_xxxx" it says that the table doesn't exist.
What's the max length of a table name? Or is this a problem with XDB?
    Thanks,
    Benjamin

    Found the problem.
All table names must be all capitalized and seperated with underscore.
Is there something I need to set in oracle? or is this a bug? The tables are created but can't be accessed because of the case of table name... that doesn't make sense.

  • Length of Web Intel Doc Name (report name)

Can anyone please tell me the maximum number of characters in a report name? And if there are any liitations, for example with special characters?

    Hi,
    Thanks all for the replying.
Yes. I check in the FormMetadata.xml file. It was not there...:-)
And one thing, is it enought to modify the value in the jsp file. Don't I have to alter the POL table and increate the length of the POL_NAME column???
    POL_NAME current length is VARCHAR(30)
    Thanks for both of you..

  • File name length causing problems

I want to use my iPod suffle as a data transfer device as well as a MP3 player and am havign real problems copying folders onto it from my iBook or my desktop G4. Is it the file name lengths that are the pprblem (that's certainly the error message I get sometimes). Or the volume of data that I am trying to copy in one hit (400MB-worth)?

It seems there is no restrictions in filename's maxlength.
However, if you check the section 2.3 of this link
    [http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2183.html|http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2183.html]
    It says:
It is important that the receiving MUA not blindly use the suggested
filename.  The suggested filename SHOULD be checked
(and possibly changed) to see that it conforms to local filesystem conventions,
does not overwrite an existing file, and does not present a security problem
(see Security Considerations below).I tried to test filename's maxlength with different browsers and found that results differ with browsers.
The HTTP response header nevertheless contained the full filename.
Above all, IMO avoiding long filename is the best solution.

  • Logic to select Report name based on User's input.

    Hi Guru's
    Good Morning!
I have a requirement to create a XMLPUBLISHER Report Whihc is Called as ITEM COUNT SUMMARY + ITEM COUNT DETAIL REPORT Following below
    are my ParameterS
    0.REPORT NAME
    1.ORG
    2.ORG COUNTRY
    3.ITEM SELECTION
    4.ORDER TYPE
    5.STATUS
    6.RECEIPT DATE FROM
    7.RECEIPT DATE TO
    8.TRANSIT DAYS
REPORT NAME: PARAMETER WILL LET THE USER to select the requrired Reports to be run.
ORG: is the Names of the SHIP FROM ORG
ORG COUNTRY: is a Dependent Parameter based on the ORG (i.e When a SHIP FROM ORG is Selected the ORG CHOICE Should have the CHoices for the selected ORG and when Nothing Selected from that ORG it should run for every ORG COUNTRY in that SHIP FROM ORG Currently we have two ORG COUNTRY PER SHIP FROM ORG say(USA, CANADA)
ITEM SELECTION: We need to Run this Report based on Item Selection ( The Logic should handle a total item selection whihc are comma seperated for upto 29
    items)
ORDER TYPE : Types of Order Again this can be a List of Comma Seperated Values for order Types
STATUS: STatus should be Comma Seperated (ENTERED,WAVED,NOTWAVED,SHIPPED)
    TRANSIT DAYS: Transit Days
RECEIPT DATE FROM: This is the Starting DATe range for the REport to be run
RECEIPT DATE TO: This is the END DATe range for the REport to be run.
The ITEM COUNT SUMMARY Report should allow the users to run the report 3 ways
1.ITEM COUNT RUN BY ORDER TYPE ( for all the STATUS)
2.ITME COUNT RUN BY STATUS ( FOR all the ORDER TYPES)
3.ITEM COUNT RUN BY TRANSIT DAYS

Now My Problem is How Do i Get a Logic to Let the Report Name Selection To be REferenced in the Data Definition file..
I would like to request you to Please help me out in arriving at a Solution for Implementing the Logic
When the USer selects ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDER TYPE I want "BY_ORDERTYPE" to be Executed and so on..
Is there a Way That I can Write in my Data definition file as
DECODE(:REPORT_NAME ,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDERTYPE', Run query for BY_ORDERTYPE,
,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY STATUS', Run query for BY_STATUS,
    ,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY TRANSIT DAYS', Run query for BY_TRANSITDAYS,run query for DETAIL REPORT);
Also My Item Description Contains Special Characters like Registered Symbol, Copyright Symbol How would I force my XML Parser to Still consider them as TEXT's
May I Directly Specify <?xdofx:DECODE :REPORT_NAME = 'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDERTYPE' THEN BY_ORDERTYPE ?> in the DATA DEFINITION file , I think this is only allowed in RTF please Help,
    Thanks

    Thanks for the Reply sir,
When you say Write the Code, you are referring to the Package is that correct, unfortunately I am not implementing this via PL/SQL Package.
you mentioned that I can Implement the Logic in the Data definition file( which is a XML file), how and Where I have print use that IF construct (or) Can you Please Print the Code snippet in the Model XML template that i have pasted in my Post.
May i know what is this
    ln_req_id := fnd_request.submit_request -- for XML1 For...
    Sorry about my ignorance...

  • Report query parsing problem

I didn't find any report of this problem...
Using APEX 3.0.1.00.07, I have a report of type "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)" with the "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" radio button selected.
When the region source contains the string "ORDER BY" in any form that I've tried (even in a comment), attempting to save the region fails with "Your query can't include an "ORDER BY" clause when having column heading sorting enabled."
I do indeed have column sorting enabled on certain columns, but I don't see how that is relevant under these circumstances since the query produced at runtime does not have an ORDER BY clause.
Am I overlooking something or is this a parsing problem?
    Rodney

    Rodney,
It's just checking for order by being included in your query, and if so and you have column heading sorting enabled, it's raising this error because you can't have both (even if it's commented out).

  • How to create a report to show BA, Report Names, Owner and shares

    Hello,
Does anyone have any sql that will show the Business Area, Report Name, Owner and who it is shared with?
I can get the three last items with no problem; the difficulty is including the BA Name.
This is for Discoverer v 4.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot. I am really new to the Discoverer Arena. We are currently using EUL5. Can you please direct me to the correct product to be installed and how will I actually get all the related worksheets for a specific workbook. Currently I have access to EUL5 tables. Is it what you are referring to? However using the EUL5 schema tables I cannot get the related worksheets of a particular workbook.
Would be really helpful if you could tell me in detail to solve this? I am somewhat confused heaps of Oracle products. Any other takers welcome

  • Special Characters in Report Name or Report Description(URGENT)

    Hi All,
I am using Hyperion Financial Reporting System 9 tool. Could anyone tell me what problem we face if we use special characters in report name and report description?
    Waiting for quick response.
    Regards,

when using "&" in report and folder titles we had issues with report books not being able to run and also the report name would be incorrectly described.
try to avoid if possible, there is a lower risk if using on an all windows enviroment (clients and servers) but if you have *nix OS it does introduce complexity.

  • Font name length limitation...

    Hello all,
I have a serious problem related with .PFB font files. Is there any relation between font name length; I checked and if font name length is more than 30 characters I am getting an error that "the requested file C:\....\....Pfm,C:\....\....Pfb was not a valid font file". Although I am using the same way to install all fonts.
Please help me and give me any solution. Please let me know if there any limitation with windows XP, or its a limitation of Type 1 fonts.
Thanks in advance and pardon my English.
    Thanks........

I believe the answer is "both" for practical purposes. Although, my recollection would have been that the limit was 31 characters, not 30.

  • Report name LOV in Submit request form in Oracle Applications

One of my client have a requirement to make modification in List of Values of Report Name on Submit Request form in Oracle Applications.
Currently or by default it displays the reports order by Applications name, but the requirement is that It should display reports Order by Report Name instead of Applications Name.
Any one have idea how to customized the form, can it is possible through custom.pll or any other method.
    THanks in Advance
    Muhammad Ali

The Report Submission screen is FNDRSRUN. The LOV for the concurrent program name is based on the PROGLOVDEF record group, which has the "order by a.application_name, p.user_concurrent_program_name" order by clause.
As far as I know, you cannot modify the query for a "static" record group (defined in the form) at run time, so I can't see that you could do anything with the CUSTOM.pll.
However, you could create a customised version of the form (same name) with a different order by on the record group, but then you have to reapply the customisation every time the form is patched (or you lose the customisation).
You can create a custom copy of the form (different name) and then update all of the functions that call the standard form to call your custom form, but there are lots of functions that call this standard form and you have the problem with patches overwriting the customised function anyway.

  • Passing report name to Labview

i am more than new to Teststand, have read the whole answers that might match my question but i found no way to have my problem solved!!
in most answers there were reffered to ReportOptions thing which i could not find at all ..
so how could i pass the report name which i need to a vi .. and is it bad to put this step in the cleanup .. as to be sure that all other steps in the main section were executed!??
    thanks alot ...

Just use this expression "RunState.Root.Locals.ReportFilePath", in your Main Sequence, it will return the Path of the Report File, you can pass directly this string to the LabVIEW modules.

I have define report title to be "expense report" in Grr3(both short/middle/long text), but when I execute it, I assigned it to one report group, in GR53, I found the report name is changed to "cash flow report", even I removed it and insert again, it still be cash flow report,,
The report result is fine, only the report title got this problem, anyone can solve it?

    1.Use transaction code: GRR2.
    2.Double click on the report
    3. Click on Extras,  Report Texts and then Select Headers
    4. Define your report title under headers.
