Report Painter: Separate formula in each cell of a column

Hi,
I'm creating a report painter report using GRR1. My 1st column is particulars (which includes revenue & costs) and 2nd column is % to sales. I need a separate formula in each cell of column2 to divide the contents of the respective cell in column1 by sales (the figure in 1 cell) & then multiply it by 100. Is this possible? If yes, then how?
Regards,
Sangeeta

Any suggestions guys????

How can I sum up raws? the Sum function seems to work only on columns. Right now I have to create a separate formula for each raw

    Hi dah,
"Thanks, but can I do one formula for all present and future raws? as raws are being added, I have to do the sum function again and again"
You do need a separate formula for each group of values to be summed.
If the values are in columns, you need a copy of the formula for each column.
If the values are in rows, you need a copy of the formula for for each row.
If you set up your formulas as SGIII did in his example (shown below), where every non-header row has the same formula, Numbers will automtically add the formula to new rows as you add them.
"Same formula" in this context means exactly the same as all the formulas above, with one exception: the row reference in each formula is incremented (by Numbers) to match the row containing the formula.
Here the formula looks like this in the three rows shown.
    B2: =SUM(2)
    B3: =SUM(3)
    B4: =SUM(4)
That pattern will continue as rows are added to the table.
Also, because the row token (2) references all of the non-header cells in row 2, the formula will automatically include new columns as they are added to the table.

  • Re: Report Painter Diff. formula in same column.

    Hi,
I have some queries for report painter.
I have 2 columns, A & B. I've created column C and the first 5 row I would like to have a set of formula such as A10 and for the same column, the row 6 to 10 from column B, I want to have formulate B5-10.
My question is, whether it's posible to have 2 formula defined in the same column because value for each row may need to apply the formula differently.
    Thx & Rgds

You can do this, although you need to split the columns into "Sections".  You also need to remove the column headers so they are not repeated between each section.
They almost act similar to a page break, without actually breaking the column over pages.

You can then have different calculated key figures within the same column.
To amend sections, go to Formatting > Section Overview/Section Layout.

  • Report painter element formula

    Hey guys..
i need to create ratio in console report using report painter. environment i have is still using LC @ 4.6C.
    Element Column :
Total Consolidation -> sum of legal comp, elimination and CI
    Element Row
    Total Asset --> sum formula
    Total Liabilities -->  sum formula
    Ratio --> divided formula
In intersection of column total consolidation i have row ratio. how i can achieve ratio in total consolidation column?
the thing happens right now ratio @ total consolidation is a sum of all ratio in legal comp, elimination and CI.
    many thanks....

    @ Shaubhik :
    Here some example :
(for better view please copy & paste into the excel and set data to column)
text,                                           Total Consolidation,       Elimination,      CI,         Total Groups
    Total Current Asset,                  60,                                 10,                  20,         30
    Total Short Term Liabilities,        30,                                 5,                   10,          15
    Ratio,                                          1.5,                                0.5,                 0.5,         0.5

  • The new Numbers 09-3.1, how do I Drag a formulas down to activate it n each cell in the column

    I am using Maverick OS X 9.1 numbers 09 (3.1) on an 2007 iMac how do I :
    1. Drag a formula down in a column so that it affects the cells below it with the same formula.
    2. I used to place a $ before a cell address and it would remain a constant function for the formula when dragged down. Can't seem to find out how to do it
    3. Is there a  manual or instructions for working with Numbers.  Numbers Help is a poor choice

    Hi Frosty,
    0) Numbers '09 is the previous version, which should still be installed on your computer. You may find it still useful, so I would strongly recommend NOT deleting it. The new version is Numbers 3.x Make sure you continue to specify which version you are using. It's useful information to anyone attempting to answer a question.
    1) Pretty much the same as you did in Numbers '09. The Fill Handle is now yellow, and shows in the center of the bottom of the selected cell containing the formula for filling down, and thi the center of the right edge for filling right. There's also a menu item—Autofill cells—found near the bottom of the Table menu.
    2) Now a set of menu selections (Preserve Row, etc.) in the contextual menu for the cell. I don't have N 3 installed, and don't recall the route to accessing that menu, so that detail will have to come in another's reply.
    3) So far there's only http://help.apple.com/numbers/mac/3.0/
No downloadable pdf version as yet.
You can get the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide as a pdf file. (The link actually goes to a more general "productivity software" page which inlcudes links to the F&F guide. Functions supported in iWork '09 versions are covered. the functions introduced in Numbers 3 are not.

  • Report Painter: Incorrect formula component = Y002

    Dear All,
I have a error messagewhile creating the Formula in GRR1
    Incorrect formula component = Y002
        Message no. KX430
    Diagnosis
An incorrect component was discovered in one of the formulas.
    Procedure
You can get an overview of the valid syntax for formulas by pressing F1  in the Formula Editor. Check whether all formula components are written correctly. If operators are allowed the following applies: Operators  such as 'ABS' for an absolute amount must be written as follows 'ABS     K1 )' where 'K1' represents a valid key figure. If variables may be used
in formulas in the application, these begin with '&' and have a maximum of 9 characters  (including '&').
    Regards

You are seeing a syntax error. What columns do you currently have? Which formula are you trying to create? Even an extra space or absence of it could probably trigger an error message. If you are using just = Y002, probaby you are trying to have another column with the same values of Y002. If it is used within a condition, may be some space is missing.
Can you describe what is the report you are trying to create?

  • Beginner question: Can I apply one formula to all cells in a column?

    Hi,
I'm new to spreadsheets, so apologies for asking what is probably a very simple question.
I want to apply a formula that divides the values in one column (W) by values in another (AX) for a table containing 3000 rows, and outputs the result for each row into the appropriate cell in the new column I've created.
Numbers 09 'help' hasn't helped to this point.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Besides Numbers '09 Help there are two other useful resources available in the Help menu: the Numbers '09 User Guide and iWork Formulas and Functions Help.
For "Beginner questions," my first choice would be the User Guide. For the specific question you asked, a quick scan of the chapter on "Using Formulas and Functions" (pp 83-96) will provide some useful information. Start in the neighborhood of page 93.

  • CO-PA column formula in report painter

    Hi all,
    Sorry about previously explanation!
In KE34, when define a form, we need several columns with a formula that is a combination between cells.
    Rows:
    - Row 1: Revenue (Y001)
    - Row 2: Total cost (Y002)
    - Row 3:  Wages cost (Y003)
    - Row 4: Depreciation cost (Y004)
    - Row 5: ...
    Columns:
    - Column 1: Plan - value (X001)
    - column 2: Plan - % (X002)= Cost / revenue * 100
                       for example: Cell Z001 (interaction between row 2 and column 2) = Y002/Y001 * 100%
                                             Cell Z002  (interaction between row 3 and column 2) = Y003/Y001 * 100%
How I can set formula for column 2?
I tried to define formula for each cell in column 2. It worked, but it takes too much time cause the report includes 3 column like column 2; and about 20 rows -> 3*20 cells need to define for each report like this???
Is there any tool or formula variable i should  use instead?
    Thanks for any help

    Hi,
there is no need to define the formula for each cell.
Mark cell 1/1 (Plan revenue) Have no other cells marked. --> this is cell Z001
Define column 2 formula as: Column 1 / cell Z001
The formular will for line X take the plan value from line X and divide it by the plan value from line 1.
I have lots of reports where I use this

  • Report Painter for GR55 report

    Hi
I am changing the formula of one cell of one column in report painter type report. what is happening with my report there are FIVE columns of profit center AND one TOTAL column , every column has 10 rows, there are three rows of total revenue , gross profit and % value of , Gross profit / Total revenue. this % figure is correct for above mentioned five columns but for total column , it is adding horizontally all the five % figure and gives the %GP figure , which is incorrect, it should be TOTAL OF GROSS PROFIT / TOTAL OF REVENUE in TOTAL column itself. now formula for total column for total revenue or gross profit are correct as it is adding horizontally and giving the total, but for only one cell of the column that is GP % in TOTAL COLUMN needs to be changed, HOW it can be done ?
    Thanks
    Deepak

You can not change a particular cell only in report painter.
    Thanks

  • Applying formulas to different cells.

    Hi,
I have a table with several different values and I am using a formula that will allow me to mark up my prices in each cell by a certain percentage. So for example, in the cell that contains $126, I have this formula (D8 is where I can enter my markup percentage):
    =IF(D8>0,126*(1+D8),126)
Is there a way I can apply this same formula to the rest of the cells which contain different prices without actually pasting this formula into each cell and changing the value each time?
This is my first day using Numbers so I don't have any experience using formulas or any spreadsheet program.Would appreciate any help!
    Thanks.

The fact that it's your first day using Numbers isn't an excuse to forget to read Numbers User Guide or iWork Formula and Functions User Guide.
Your question is answered in page #81 of the late edition of the 1st resource in the chapter Autofilling Table Cells
Read also page #30 in the 2nd resource.

  • COPA Report Painter

    Hi,
I consider possibility of using conditional expression 'IF' in COPA report painter in formulas. Is it possible ? I am asking because syntax from common report painter is not correct in COPA it means e.g.:
    IF Y001 <> 0 THAN Y001 ELSE Y002.
It would be beneficial for me.
    regards,
    Rafal S.

    Hi again,
Thanks for reply, but are you sure that the syntax is correct for COPA report painter formulas ? I have tried to apply it and after the check system gives me "incorrect syntax" message.
    regards,
    Rafal S.

  • Report Painter- How to make cost center report for Jun07-Jul08 ?

    Hi Experts,
I need to make a P&L (Actual/ Plan) report for Jun 07 - Jul 08 by using Report Painter, but I'm having difficulty to make column for the next year period (2008) and some other things.
We are using K4 Fiscal Year Variant in ECC 6.0.
The layout is somehow like this:
    Header : Cost Center
                 Actual/Plan Report
                 June 2007 to July 2008
    Body:
Cost Element     |   Total Actual   |   Total Plan |  Actual  June | Plan June .................Actual July | Plan July
    xxxx
    xxxx
    Account Group (total)
    xxxx
    xxxx
    Account Group (total)
    Grand Total
    How to:
    a. make the header "June 2007 to July 2008" ?
    b. make the selection screen to provide parameter for June 2007 to July 2008? (e.g.: period 6 fiscal year 2007 to period 7 fiscal year 2008)
    c. provide layout (rows and columns) as described above? it should provide detail cost elements and also calculate it as the total per account group, then finally the Grand Total for all of account groups.
    Thank you before,
    -=Meila.S=-

    Hi,
    1. Put Year and Month as your General Selection parameters
    2. In the label of the fields, if you put the parameter name with & before, it will display the value
    3. If you put cost element in General selection, it will come with a group, and when you selecting the group, the report does the sub-totals automatically.
