Report Viewer refresh event causing window event problems

I have a winform with a report viewer control and a couple of grids.  When a cell in one of the grids is edited the report gets refreshed (when focus is lost from the cell) this refresh appears to empty the event stack for the whole window.
For example if I edit the cell then click the ok button the report refreshes and the button click event is lost.
Also if I edit the cell and click on the report viewer then the grid itself stops firing events outside its control.
Can anyone explain this behaviour so I can work around it?

I am handling the celledited event on the grid (janus gridEX control) which fires when the focus is lost from the grid and the user has edited something.
The event code calls viewer.RefreshReport() which successfully updates the report with the new data (via the common dataset both use as a data source).
This is all running in a dialog box.
The problem occurs when the user edits the grid and then immediately clicks the ok button.  The call to RefreshReport seems to stop the button click event firing.
The second problem occurs when the user edits the cell then clicks on the report viewer to cause the celledited event to fire and the report to refresh.  Everything seems to work fine however if the user tries to edit a cell again the celledited event does not fire anymore unless you click on another row in the grid itself.  This behaviour only happens when clicking on the CR viewer when clicking any other control the behaviour is as expected.
Whilst the CR viewer may not directly be the problem something is occuring when it is refreshed and I would like to understand what is happenening to cause the strange behaviour.

  • Report Viewer control issue in Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
    I have a reporting application (web) and it is using the Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll (version 11.0.3366). While deploying I have kept all the Reporting Viewer related dll's into the bin directory and things are working fine in the below combinations.
    1) Windows Server 2008 R2 , SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2
    2) Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012
    Today I have installed the same setup into the Windows Server 2012 R2 (with SqlServer 2012) machine and I am facing the some issue. The Print icon and find/next options are not visible in the Report Viewer . I am not sure what was the cause for this.
    Then  I have installed the Report Viewer 2012 runtime on the Windows Server 2012 R2 machine and things are working fine. So , I am wondering how the same setup worked fine in other two combinations with out installing Report Viewer 2012 runtime.
    Did any one have idea/suggestion on this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards
    Muthuraja

    Have you verified that the runtime assemblies are not on those servers? Maybe someone else added them. There are numerous other possibilities such as code refactoring that moved these elements from to other assemblies (unlikely) or that there was some other
    difference in your installation that you overlooked. I am glad that you were quickly able to resolve your issue however and may help others if they experience the same problem.

  • Crystal Report Viewer 2008, postback causes a weird QueryString for dates

    HI,
    I'm having a weird problem that was masked with the error "".
    What is happening to me is that i have an ASPX page where the QueryString passed in is used as parameters to the report (straightforward).  When the page first loads, this is all fine the QuerySTring is properly parsed and the report is properly displayed.  Now, the problem comes when i click on the PRINT Button it performs a postback, and during that postback the querystring is read so that it can rebuild the report on the postback.  (In previous versions of crystal, this has always worked).  The issue here is that the version 12 of the report viewer here now appears to also append some information to the query string that was not previously there (like this:  ServletTask=Print&cmd=get_pg&page=1)  So the problem here for me is this is what my original QueryString looks like:
    tokenid=b2817081-6b52-43c7-8e2c-d6209af2ed98&Type=Appointment&Val=12%3b1%3b1%3b06%2f10%2f2000
    THat query string is generated by the following code (pre-encoded)
    "PrintPage.aspx?tokenid=" & Guid.NewGuid.ToString & "&Type=Appointment&Val=" & "12" & ";" & "1" & ";" & "1" & ";" & "1/1/2000"  (NOTE the date here, i'll get to that in a second)
    Then, what the problem is on the postback the Query String looks like this:
    tokenid=2a4f42de-bd90-48b5-ac82-bd34b503afd3&Type=Appointment&Type=Appointment&Val=12%3b1%3b1%3b1%2f1%2fPrintPage.aspx%3ftokenid%3d2a4f42de-bd90-48b5-ac82-bd34b503afd3&Val=12%3b1%3b1%3b1%2f1%2f2000&ServletTask=Print&cmd=get_pg&page=1
    As you can see here it's all messed up.
    So, what i found here is that the underlying cause is that we are passing a "date" in the original QueryString and it seems on the postback the Crystal Reports Viewer is having some issue with that and basically messes up the query string...
    I have Crystal Reports 2008/SP3 installed.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Cleaning up these forums I came across this unanswered thread.
    Very weird behavior that I have seen maybe 3 or 4 years ago - I think it was with opendocument.aspx...
    In this case, we appear to be re-adding the querystring with the aspx name and question mark (u2026.parentagesu2026).  Having two question marks (%3f) is essentially a malformed URL since this indicates where the querystring starts.
    The duplicate querystring may have been a coding error(?) where it gets added again on a postback.
    Were you able to resolve the issue?

  • Has the report viewer refresh functionality gone away?

    When we click the refresh button in the DHTML report viewer nothing happens. We are on BOE XI R 3.1. Has this functionality changed since XI R2?

    Hi,
    that functionality is still the same in the combined InfoView assuming you are using SAP authentication.

  • Will enabling FireVault cause Windows VM problem?

    I have loaded Parallels (Build 1970) on my MBP running OS X v10.4.8 and would like to know if I enable FireVault, will it cause any problems with loading/running the Windows VM and file sharing capabilities? Or by virtue of performing the Mac login that unencrypts my files by default, will Parallels and the Windows XP VM run seamlessly?

    It's not possible to know with absolute certainty if your router is causing this bottleneck or not. The bandwidth delivered by AT&T is shared among all the devices that use it, and if they're all streaming video or performing some other demanding task your Internet speed may be the limiting factor.
    An Apple AirPort Base Station will not have any difficulty whatsoever serving five clients, or many more for that matter, and it makes no difference whether they are Macs or PCs or an assortment of each.
    I am not familiar with the limitations of AT&T's supplied router, but most ISPs supply cheap junk. If you purchase an Apple AirPort Base Station from an Apple Store, and you don't like it for whatever reason, you can always return it within 14 days for a complete refund. Keep the box and everything else it came with. 90 days of free telephone support is included in the purchase price.

  • Boot optimizer abort caused windows 7 problem on my G780

    During a boot optimizer start-up, I pushed esc to abort the boot optimizer.  Now my G780 will not start windows 7 - it goes to the "will try to fix automatically" screen, but cannot fix the problem and is stuck.  I've tried everything that a similar post from last year mentioned, but nothing works.  Help.

    Restart the computer. As soon as you see anything on the screen repeatedly press the F8 button until it starts beeping. You should see a list of how you want to boot windows. Select boot to the last known good configuration and hit enter.
    If that does not work, let us know all that you have tried to fix this. Saying that you tried everything in a similar post from last year is just a bit vague. We need better information to help you better.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Control on SAP Form?

    We are using Crystal Report XI to create custom SAP reports.  We have integrated this into our Add-On by adding the Report Viewer Control to a Windows form and setting it's report source at runtime.  This works ok but is a bit cludgy looking and causes some focus and redraw problems with SAP.  I have tried for weeks to figure out how to get the ActiveX control onto an SAP form but with no luck.
    Here is my code sample:
    SAPbouiCOM.Item oItemX;
    SAPbouiCOM.ActiveX oActX;
    CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer oCRX;
    oItemX = this.sboForm.Items.Add("U_CRCtl", SAPbouiCOM.BoFormItemTypes.it_ACTIVE_X);
    oItemX.Left = 0;
    oItemX.Top = 0;
    oItemX.Height = this.sboForm.Height;
    oItemX.Width = this.sboForm.Width;
    oActX = (SAPbouiCOM.ActiveX) oItemX.Specific;
    oActX.ClassID = "{5E093535-5A5D-4E72-ACCD-F10B6D065BC9}";
    oCRX = (CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer) oActX.Object;
    oCRX.ReportSource = @"c:\Test\Test.rpt";
    I am not sure why this will not work.  I always get either 'Specified cast is not valid' or 'Invalid Class ID'.  If anyone has done this successfully or has any suggestions that would be great!  Thanks for your help!

  • Control the / interact with Report Viewer via Javascript

    Hi
    i have some questions about client control of the report viewer. I would want to use some custom buttons in order to use the report viewer functionalities, as an example to print, or to known when a customer leaf through the report pages saving something in a javascript variable.
    Is it possible to interact with the report viewer? There is a reference text?
    Thanks

    I've never done it with JavaScript, but you could use the built in events to keep track of some information about report navigation. Some of the available events are below.
    CrystalReportViewer Events

  • Crystal Report Viewer Credential Prompt for Report with Dynamic Parameters

    The .NET Crystal Report Viewer is prompting for database credentials when launching a report containing dynamic parameters. This only occurs for reports created with SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer. Reports created with Crystal Reports XI designer (where dynamic parameters were first introduced) work correctly.
    The credential prompt window contains the following fields:
    - Server Name: <server name> (disabled)
    - Database Name: <database name> (disabled)
    - User Name: <empty> (enabled)
    - Password: <empty> (enabled)
    - Use Single Signon Key: false (disabled)
    The values in the prompt window which are disabled are the database connection values used during the design of the report in the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer.
    Expected Result:
    - No prompt for database credentials.
    - Values read from the database should be populated in a drop down for the dynamic parameters.
    Environment:
    - Visual Studio 2010 (C#)
    - Windows 7 Enterprise
    - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4
    - SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010
    - SAP Crystal Reports 2011
    The database connection is being set to use a DSN. It must be a DSN as the calling application is only aware of the DSN/Username/Password values. These values are being passed to the Crystal Report Viewer contained in a Windows form.
    The database connection for the report is being set as follows:
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection otherwise the connection does not work
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Supposed to set the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    The SetConnection method's signature is as follows:
       SetConnection(string server, string database, string name, string password)
    As you can see from the code snippet above I am setting the DSN name as the server parameter, blank for the database parameter (a database connection using DSN should only require DSN name/Username/Password) and the database username and password respectively.
    Is this a SAP bug?
    Is this the correct way of setting the database connection to use a DSN?
    Is there some other properties that need to be set somewhere else in the report through code?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the pointer to the database connection code generator. After taking a look at the output from the tool I was able to finally get the dynamic parameters to load and populate properly without prompting for credentials. I needed to tweak the outputted code a bit to match my requirements of using a DSN only connection.
    Instead of updating the database connection properties contained within the Report.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalReports.Engine namespace, I changed it to replace the database connection properties in the Report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel namespace. For one reason or another, using the RAS namespace solved the problem.
    Below is the updated code with the change made:
    using RAPTable = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Table;
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Sets the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    // The attributes for the QE_LogonProperties which is part of the main property bag
    PropertyBag innerPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    innerPropertyBag.Add("DSN", this.DSN);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UserID", this.LoginName);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("Password", this.Password);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UseDSNProperties", "true");
    // The attributes collection of the tables ConnectionInfo object
    PropertyBag mainPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    mainPropertyBag.Add("Database DLL", "crdb_ado.dll");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_DatabaseType", "OLE DB (ADO)");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_LogonProperties", innerPropertyBag);
    // Pass the database properties to a connection info object
    ConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    connectionInfo.Attributes = mainPropertyBag;
    connectionInfo.Kind = CrConnectionInfoKindEnum.crConnectionInfoKindCRQE;
    connectionInfo.UserName = this.LoginName;
    connectionInfo.Password = this.Password;
    // Replace the database connection properties of each table in the report
    foreach (RAPTable oldTable in this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables)
        RAPTable table = new RAPTable();
        table.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
        table.Name = oldTable.Name;
        table.QualifiedName = oldTable.QualifiedName;
        table.Alias = oldTable.Alias;
        this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oldTable, table);
    this.report.VerifyDatabase();
    Thanks again Ludek for the help.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

    I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
    I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
    Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
    If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
    Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

    Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
    If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
    Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

  • Differences between Report Viewer Version 9.0.0.0 and Version 10.0.0.0?

    Hi,
    What are the differences between the Report viewer control (web forms) version 9 and version 10?
    Thanks
    nasayoo

    Hi nasayoo,
    The report viewer control (available for Windows Forms as well as ASP.NET applications) is used to display reports in our applications. However, ReportViewer control can connect to specific SQL server versions when used in Server Mode(or Remote Mode). The
    related MSDN docs for report viewer control that verify this behavior can be viewed at
    Here is the details(version 9.0.0.0, with VS2008, for SQL server 2005+) andHere is the details(version 10.0.0.0 with VS2010, for SQL server
    version 2008+).
    Details information in this article for your reference:

  • REPORT VIEWER- PRINT BUTTON- NOT PRINTING ONLY IN SOME MACHINES

    I built a project in VS2008(VB.Net) and it uses RDLC reports...When ive published my software i tried and it works fine and can print successfully on my machine but when i tried on the target machine i can export to pdf but i cant print the files directly
    using the print button on the report viewer...What is the problem? Thanking you in advance.

    Hello,
    Which browser did your used in the target machine? The issue may happens when you use none-IE browser.
    The ClientPrint control of the Report Viewer control is based off of ActiveX and is not designed to work in none-IE browsers. This is a known issue in Report Viewer control.
    To workaround this issue, you can try to use custom control or ActiveX control to get the print option enabled for the Report Viewer.

  • Crystal reports and crystal report viewer

    Hi.
    I have up to recently used crystal report version 11.5 and reports have been made available for users in the organisation via Crystal report viewer.2010 ver 11.2.1.3.
    The reports have been saved without data, and the different parameters have been available for the users for them to select approriate dataset,.
    I have now upgraded Crystal reports to version 2013 ver 14.1 and crystal report viewer to same version.
    The problem now is that the parameters are no longer available for the users, and it is also a requirement to save the reports incl a dataset to even open the report in the new report viewer.
    What have I missed? Anyone that can help me ?
    brgds Torunn

    Hi Torunn
    An alternative may be to create a web app using either the Crystal Reports .NET or Java SDK. Depending on what development software you already have, this may be cheaper than CR Server or "BO server". E.g.; both the .NET SDK and the Java SDK are free:
    SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
    SAP BusinessObjects - SAP Crystal Reports, Version For Eclipse Download
    The above would be predicated on the assumption  that your org has some developer experience (or is willing to acquire it) and that you have the development software (e.g.; VS 2010, or 2012, or 2013 for the CR SDK for .NET).
