Reporting on link usage within federated portal environment

Hi,
We have a fedrated portal environment and woul like to be able to report on how many users click on a web link within one of the portal pages.  Is there an easy way to gather this information across all of the portal systems?
Thanks in advance.

I agree with Oliver on how easy it is to misunderstand SSO. People unfamiliar with the technology often assume that all varieties of SSO (e.g., logon tickets, x.509 certificates) are all sufficiently "secure".
It seems like people talk a lot more about logon tickets in the SNC. That's fine and all (because it's free), but people might be overlooking the security problem with logon tickets; they share the same security problems with web browser cookies (because a login ticket is essentially a cookie).
Additionally, there's the issue of insecure communications. If you use certificates to authenticate, then you can take advantage of SAP's "Secure Network Communications" technology. It's something like SSL but for the RFC/DIAG protocol.
One word of caution though: SAP only provides SNC from server-to-server with the SAP Cryptographic Library for free. For client-to-server encrypted communications, you probably have to find a vendor in the SAP EcoHub. You can query something along the lines of "single sign-on". Just find a vendor that uses certificate-based SSO. Most of the time they can deal with whichever identity repository that your company uses (e.g., ADS, eDirectory, RSA, SQL).
Summary:
1) There are different forms of SSO with different levels of "security"
2) Pay some attention to encrypted communications (you can address two important problems with the "right" SSO technology
3) You can do a lot with free SAP tools (e.g., cryptolib, logon tickets), but be willing to accept the security tradeoffs

  • Is the anyway to get a report of component usage within an Application.

It would sure be 'nice' to have a report of the component usage within an Application. I am most interested in where the LOVs are being referenced. It is extremely time consuming to check every report/form item by item. I'm sure this information is available 'somewhere' within the Portal schema but I don't know where. Anyone got any ideas? Thanx in advance

Such info can be obtained from Portal schema.
Those tables are not granted to public.
How do you plan to use it? For your own maintain purpose?

  • Portal eventing and Navigation in Federated portal environment

    Hello Experts,
We have developed our portal content in Web Dynpro Java and it has been used in portal framework. In Some of custom web Dynpro applications,we are using portal eventing for communication between different iViews on a same  Page and Portal Navigation APIs to navigate to different portal object.
Now We want to integrate all these portal objects(Mainly Custom web Dynpro applications without EP masthead,TLN,Desktop inner page ..etc) with Oracle portal.I want to know if we can use portal eventing when applications are integrated with Oracle porta or an other non-SAP portal or is there any other way to achieve the same.
I have gone through some of the SAP documentation and it is stated that Portal eventing will not work when applications are integrated with non-EP portals.
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Naidu

    Hello Koti Raddy,
Thanks  for your quick replay.I didn't understand exactly about custom framework page that you have mentioned.I am not sure what is purpose of framework page when i want to integrate all  portal Pages(consists of Web Dynpro based iViews) in non-SAP portal.
We are going to use Navigation panel of non-sap portal and i want to integrate SAP portal pages in Oracle portal.
I could able to use individual web Dynpro applications Urls in Oracle portal using iFrame portlet, but portal eventing is not working with this approach.
As far as Authentication is concerned,we dont have any issues.it is already in place.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using GRC in a Federated Portal Network

    Hi All,
We are usning a Federated Portal Network and would like to do Role provisioning through GRC.I know that GRC can do role provisioning in one single portal.
I would like to find out if it can be done in a Federated Portal Environment in which I have a Consumer and Producer Portal.
In Simple Terms - I would like to Assign a role that is present in the Producer Portal through the Consumer portal (This is called as Remote Role Assignment) using GRC.
Can anyone please help me with this.
Any thoughts will be very helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek,
I have worked with CUP and EP and it works fine. I have not used CUP with Federated Portal so I don't have idea about this. It seems it will act something like CUA for EP. Am I correct?
CUP works with CUA but for that, it has to bec configured for CUA. I don't see any separate configuration for Federate Portal. Can you open a Customer message with SAP about this?
I doubt this will work but it is worth a try. Please let me know about the outcome.

  • CRM 2007 in Federeted Portal Environment?

    Hi,
we actually use CRM 4.0 in a portal environment and are about to upgrade to CRM 2007. To reduce the release dependencies (not only for CRM, also for BI, ...) we think about setting up a Federated Portal environment.
Does anybody have experience with CRM 2006s/2007 in a Federated Portal environment, yet?
    Kind regards
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
CRM 6.0 was released only for specific customers so the knowledge would be limited as to how to upgrade it from 4.0
Since CRM 2007 is available as a general release it would certainly take care of everything.

  • Trex in Federated Portal

    Hello All,
We are working on federated portal environment. We want to have Trex search in fpn.
I have two queries on the same:
1)What are the configurations required for Trex in FPN. Do we need any special configuration?
2)If we have users having access to different producers then search should throw documents only from the producer  for which the user is having access. It shouldn't throw search results from all the producers of the portal.
Plz revert if anyone can help in this regard. Plz provide any supporting documents for the same.
    Thanks,
    Saumya

    Hello Rohit,
You can configure TREX in the central consumer portal, you might find the following documentation helpful regarding the search configuration which is necessary.

  • ERP2005 MSS reporting in a federated portal network

    Hello,
We are implementing ERP2005 MSS on a federated portal network, and we’re facing a problem with the MSS reporting IView (application mss~rpt).
When we execute this function on the producer portal (the portal connected to the ECC backend, with the BP’s and Webdynpro’s), the IView launches well, a report can be selected and finally in the second step, the button ‘Report Results’ opens up a new portal window. The URL of this window contains a navigation target which points to an IView of the standard ERP2005 Business Package:
    NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.pct/line_manager/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.manager_self_service/com.sap.pct.mss.hcm.rpt.iac
This IView will then launch a session which starts Internet service HRWPC_FC_EXEC on the integrated ITS.  Directly on the producer everything works fine and the report is displayed in an ITS session perfectly. Works as designed – so far…
However, when we execute this on the consumer portal (with remote role assignment) a popup window opens when clicking the button Report Results, and nothing happens – no report.
The cause of this is that the external popup window links to the consumer portal, and NOT the producer portal. Since the business package is not deployed on the consumer portal, the navigation target cannot be found and no content is displayed.
Now, the quick and dirty solution would be to deploy the BP on the consumer portal, but this is of course not in the strategy of federated portal. Displaying the report in the same window should also do the trick, but I didn’t find any option to do this.
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this without having to deploy the BP on the consumer portal?
    Best Regards,
    Jos

    Here are some tips.
Firstly, make sure you use NWA to read the exact error in Default Trace. If you are experiencing the 'User Authentification' error or needing to add the Super Admin role to J2EE_GUEST, then it is highly likely that you have an SSO problem between your consumer and producer. Try a simple test...Log on to the consumer and then type or copy in the url of your producer. Are you getting the logon page? If so then SSO is definately not working. You can try vice versa as well but for simple fed scenarios, producer to consumer is not required.
You should not have to modify settings in Visual Admin. You can do it directly in NWA Trusted Systems. Client is referring to the client number of your JAVA engine...Don't worry about any BASIS administrators who insist JAVA has no clients! The default client is 000 but this may have ben changed - its a ConfigTool setting in UME. You can see it in NWA Trusted Systems. It tells you the client number of the portal you are logged into. You must ensure that when you load up this portal's certificate, the client field must be as it is set here.

  • Federated  Portal - ESS/MSS remote content copy / remote delta link mode

    Hello,
We have established an Federated Portal Network between two Enterprise Portal systems.
The Consumer System is an Netweaver Enterprise Portal, the Producer also an Enterprise Portal installation + XSS.
We use remote role assignment and remote delta link functionality between this two systems.
We have an request to enable BI JAVA Iviews on the consumer and as transitive content sharing is not provided, we would like to copy the ESS/MSS roles as remote content copy/remote delta links from the producer XSS system to the consumer system.
When we try to copy the ESS or MSS roles the copy process end with the following error message :
"Due to an unexpected error the action will be canceled"
The remote content copy/remote delta link usage mode is working correct on other roles
Is this a restiction that ESS/MSS roles can not be used in remote delta link mode ?
Is there an workaround for such usage type ?

  • App page link to "federated portal" menu with  webdynpro for JAVA

    Hi experts,
we have completed the federated portal configuration from EP to CE7.1
Clients just log in EP, see both EP and CE content.
Now, clients want to make a index page with some link and fashion pictures pointed to exact EP or CE page.
I found a method "WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute" which can do this in EP.
but when i change content path to my CE content, the method failed.
    WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
                   "ROLES://NetWeaver_content_producers/<my CE producer's name>/portal_content/...<my path>",

is there something wrong calling the method? or anything else?

  • Federated Portal Network FPN: exception Remote Delta Links rdl

    Consumer Portal version: 7.01 SP2
    Producer Portal version: 7.00 SP15
I always receive an exception when i try to preview a remote delta link.
I think I've setted up correctly the trust relationship between my portals. Because when I log on to my consumer portal and I open the producer portal in the same browser I don't need to give my user credentials. This is a simple test to see if the the trust relationship is working...
In the portal content studio I'm able to see my portal producers and their content. There is also no problem to copy for eg. an url iView from my producer to the portel content of my consumer portal as local content. when I try to preview my iView I receive a runtime error!
Anyone who'd like to share some ideas? Known issues?
    Thanks

I've posted my solution in this thread:

  • Federated Portal Remove Delta Links

I have two portals running Netweaver 04S running SP10.   I have them up as a federated portal.  I cannot however copy items as remote delta links in the Portal Content Catalog.   I can do a regular copy but not the delta link.  What am I missing?   I am at SP 10.  Thanks

    Lee,
Do you mean that you used "Copy" from the producer portal's PCD and "Paste as Local Content" on the consumer portal's PCD? That's what I do, but I'm receiving a "string out of bounds: 7" error on all URL iViews copied this way. The iView previews just fine on the producer, but gives this error when previewed on the consumer.

  • Problem in Remote Delta Links in Federated Portal

    Hi experts,
I am trying the federated portal content usage modes. My producer and consumer are EP7 and SP13.
I have done the Setting up trust both the side.
I have created Netweaver content Producer, with P4 communication properties.
I can able to get the remote roles in consumer (it is working fine).
But I am not able to see the Producer PCD. I didnt get the expand button in the Netweaver content Producer object .
Please help me, Where I made mistake..
    Thanks and Regards,
    Chinnadurai R

    Hi Chinnadurai
1.During the process of Registering (Adding) Producer Portal, while entering the connection parameters of the NetWeaver producer portal use appropriate Host name against “Host Name” input field instead of IP address. Perhaps this might create some problem during execution in later stage.
e.g. Host Name: use “Hostname123” instead of XXX.XX.XXX.XXX
NOTE: Here always use fully qualified domain name
    2. Check whether producer is 'Blocked'
    3. Try to add new producer again followed by connection test and registration ...it might work...
    4. Sometimes it may happen that you are able to see PCD under portal content studio of consumer portal but if when  you open the producer under 'NetWeaver content producers' and if it does not contain folders in it, the registration is considered to be unsuccessful even though it stated it was successful while registration

  • Links on Staging Portal/Environment open Production Environment Pages

    Brand New Admin Here.
I have been given the task to look into and fix the problem. In the Staging Portal/Environment there are several links ("payment" links, "menus", "detailed info" links) that open into Production instead of opening into the Staging
    Portal.
    1. location of link: Payment Links
https://contosobuild2.microsoft.com/finances/pages/deposits.aspx ---when you click it, it goes to ---->
    https://www.officialpayment.com instead of https://staging.officialpayments.com
    2. location of link: Teaching Scheduled Accessed Link
Teaching Scheduled Accessed from Staging Portal at https://contosobuild2.microsoft.com <-----This Opens Production url instead of staging url.
    opens Production url (https://catalog.microsoft.com)
    instead of Staging url (https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com)
    3. location of link: Section Detailed Info
Accessed from Staging Portal at https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com <-----This Opens Production url instead of staging url.
    opens Production url (https://catalog.microsoft.com/Lists/Sections/CustomDispForm.aspx?ID=2640&InitialTabId=Ribbon.Read)
    instead of Staging url (https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com/Lists/Sections/CustomDispForm.aspx?ID=2640&InitialTabId=Ribbon.Read)
Please advise on how to change the links to the correct pathway, instead of routing to production environment, I want it to route to the correct location in the staging environment

changes will depend on where they exist in the environment... if it's in the content area of the page, you'd need to go into the pages' edit mode to make the change... if it's in the navigation menus, you'd need to go into the site's settings to change the
navigation links... if it's somewhere else, it'll depend.
In regards to #1, no, there is no part of SharePoint that will ever "know" of an environment, and automatically change things around... just as when a file is copied from one computer to another, the file will never change... similarly, when the
SharePoint databases are restored from one environment to another, they are ignorant to the difference, and their contents will never "automagically" change.
In regards to #2/3, scripting the changes is a large topic, and requires knowledge of a scripting and/or programming language (PowerShell, C#, etc). But whether changed by script or by hand, you will need to know where the changes exist in order to apply
    the changes.

  • Federated Portal solution with 2004sBI.

    Hi,
I would like to know the limitation when using fedelated portal solution with 2004s BI. that means 2004s BI web functionalities are used via Enterprise-wide portal, diferent from portal component for BI.
many customers who decide to implement mySAP ERP2005 solution is likely to implement 2 portal components. One is only for BI, another is for Enterprise wide portal, without considering system configuration deelpy.
About the portal content, the following URL show the solutions.

    -Integration using a URL iView
    -Export/import
    -Global portal (federated portal)
I think the global portal is the best.
About the KM contents, I am now think what is the best way.
I think by using fedelated portal solution, KM content iView and KM navigation iView can be used on the corporate wide portal.
But I am not KM expert and now am considering how to use KM contents which is on BI's EP(KM) as same as those on Enterprise wide portal. is it possible if setting webdav on repository manager on enterprise wide portal?
    Kind reagards,
    Masaaki

There are a lot of things to consider with KM, one repository or 2? The federated Portal will work with assigning a KM navigation iView to a Role and using remote role assignment. This would put KM on the producer portal. The other option is to setup a Remote KM Repository on the Consumer Portal that points to the producer. This way you can broadcast to the producer KM repository and see this in the Consumer Portal.
With Collaboration Rooms, there are some limitations, such as the Room Directory doesn't work with remote URL iViews or Remote Role Assignments as it launches the URL on the consumer instead of the producer. Currently, Collaboration Rooms should be centralized on your single consumer. If you need to broadcast to it in the producer, you would have to setup a link to a remote repository...
Therefore, if you're working with KM specifically, it all works within the framework, but you need to decide how centralized or decentralized you want your document storage, so there are a lot of project considerations on this one....
Also, webdav works to access the KM repository both on the consumer and producer...

  • TLN missing for users in Federated Portal Network Setup

    Hello All,
We are facing a weird problem in our Federated portal Production setup; when the users login to portal they are not able to see the TLN. On further investigating we found that this issue is happening when the user id is locked in any of the producer portals within our FPN environment due to which the users are not able to view roles related to other systems as well in which there id is active.
This issue is reproducable but only occur once the ID are locked and password is expired in one of the assigned system.
Our FPN setup is as below:
    Consumer C connects to Producers
    1. A (RDL)
    2. B (RDL)  - BI Dual Stack
    3. D (RRA)  -  BI Dual Stack
    In turn A (producer) connects to 4 ECC systems (F3, M1, R1, R5)
We are using RRA and RDL both in our environment. We have connected all federated portal with P4 Port, so if required we
    can use RDL.
Please note our consumer C is EHP1 SP5 and both BI systems B and D are EP 7 sp13.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated as this is critical issue affecting users in our production environment badly.
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hello,
This was an SAP bug. We raised an OSS message and it is taken care now. User now gets TLN and then portal runtime error if the id is locked.
