Reporting requirements to Filter on query results

Hi Everyone,
Part of our reporting requirements for Billing Data is to display all Invoices Created till the 15th of the Month. Users want to trend analyze Invoice created till 15th of each month for last 6 months. The report has a time filter to get Invoices for last 6 months.
How do we further filter all Invoices created till 15th of each month?
Thanks for all your answers in Advance.
CM

HI,
I think the best way would be - create an infoobject containing the day  (from your date). Then you use calmonth and the new infoobject as time characteristics and restrict both (calmonth on the calmonth, calmonth - 1,...) and "day" as fix filter value for 1 to 15.
This will work.
If you can't extend you cube, you should try it with an virtuel cube where you use your original cube as source. the virtual cube contains the new infoobject "day".
Cheers

  • Filter in query result table not populated by criteria previously selected.

    Hi Experts,
I'm currently working on the the Upgrade of our BW production line from
    release 3.0b to 7.0:
    Configuration of target system
    BW system : Release 7.0
    BEx Analyser : Release 2004s, Support Package9, Patch 1, Revision 321
    Sap Gui 6.4
We're especially trying to check the non-regression of the non-converted queries in the new system (release 7.0).
And we get the following issue: After having selected the selection criteria in the selection window, the reminder of selected criteria is not done in the filter part of the target query result. Is it a normal behavior or not ?
Indeed, in the previous system configuration (BW 3.0b), the user is accustomed to seeing just above his result table the selection criteria that he had previously filled in in the selection window.
Please find herewith an example describing the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

In order to be more clear, hereunder an example:
    - I have a field untitled "Business Division"in the selection window.*
    - I fill in this field with the value "OND"
    - I execute the query with this value for this field.
    - The query result correclty appears.
    - I click on the "Filter" button to display the Filter table with the columns "Navigation pane" and "Filter criteria".
    - In the "Navigation pane", there is the field "Business Division".
    - For me, the corresponding "Filter criteria" should be the value "OND", but nothing is displayed...
    Thanks in advance foryour help.

  • Query results to a file

Pls let me know is there a possibility to achieve this using dbms_output packageNo. The DBMS_OUTPUT package is almost ALWAYS the wrong package to use. It is the most misunderstood and most frequently abused piece of PL/SQL software. So no - it is not suited in anyway to spool CSV output. In fact, trying it with a large SQLdataset can crash the Oracle server - as memory will be exhausted and the swap daemons will trash CPU utilisation.
To read or write a physical o/s file - the typical package used is UTL_FILE. It is fairly easy using UTL_FILE to create a CSV file.
However, there could be far better alternatives. The CSV file may be needed by a web client - in which case the file can be created as a CLOB and provided as a Mime text/csv data stream to a web browser (which usually will automatically open in Excel).
The CSV file may need to be delivered via e-mail. In which case, the CSV file contents can be delivered via UTL_SMTP to a mail server as an e-mail attachment.
The CSV file may be needed to be delivered to a remote server. In which case the CSV file can be created as a CLOB and this CLOB can be ftp'ed via PL/SQL to the remote server as a text file.
So there are many options in creating and delivering a CSV file. Using DBMS_OUTPUT though is not a sensible option - ever.

    Hi David,
Only possiblity is through APD. You can use Query as source and  try to creat new ODS or CUBE , you can assign what ever fields you want to be in ODS/CUBE.
for APD creation u go for sap.help.com
You can schedule this APD, and what ever data updated to query it iwll be udated in ODS/CUBE.

  • Styling report rows using the query result

Hello, is it possible to style a row in a report using the values returned by the underlying sql query?
For example, if my query returns a column called ROW_CLASS I would like to use the placeholder #ROW_CLASS# to style the row, e.g. specifying the row class.
Apparently such row attributes are not available to the apex developer. For each single column value I can set the "Tabular Form Attributes" and "Column Formatting", but I cannot set anything on the whole row.
In other words I can style the TDs but not the TRs.
I think this is clearly a "missing feature" that should be there, single the APEX engine that turns the query result into the HTML that displays the table can already access the column values via their placeholders. It would be sufficient to add some "row attributes" or "row class" field in the report.
It could be used for lots of useful things, in my particular case, highlighting rows that contain errors.
Also there is no way to perform that operation in CSS (e.g. get the TRs which contain at least one TD of class "ROWERROR"). I know it could be done in JS, but that's very messy for such a simple declarative problem.

    Hi Siva,
As u said that u want to show the results of the queries through report designer but i think it is used for formatted reports .
If u want to see tha results of diffrent query then u can use workbook .
In workbook u can also analyse reports easily by applying slice and dice techniques .

    Hi Laurent,
You can attempt this using replacememtn path variable for the char you need to filter by. This is called Result Set Query. See here for details:

  • Output of BOBJ (Web Intelligence Reports) are twice BEx Query Result

    Hi Experts,
Incase of first level of hierarchy, correct values (i.e same as BEx Query) are displayed in BOBJ reports . However on selecting two and more levels of Hierarchy, values, twice the corresponding BEx query values, are displayed in BOBJ reports .
    For e.g.
For level one of hierarchy (one level of object from hierarchy ):
Actual Amount keyfigure value in BEx Query : 100
Actual Amount keyfigure Value in BOBJ Report : 100
For if we select two and more levels of Hierarchy, then we get following inconsistent values:
Actual Amount keyfigure value in BEx Query : 100
Actual Amount keyfigure Value in BOBJ Report : 200
We have implemented SP5 ,as suggested in SAP note 1373220 . However issue still persists...
Can you please suggest, how to resolve this issue?
    Regards
    Mohit

We had the issue close to your issue. Basically, Webi does a Cartesian product of the characteristics value and duplicate the number of rows. But when we add the key figure in the report, it was showing the correct result.
Not sure, why the Key figures are also duplicating in your case. Please try adding removing characteristics and see if that resolves your issue.

Per my understanding you are using the report builder 3.0 to design the report and when you click the query designer button to execute the query you got the error message above, right?
I have tested on my local envornment and your issue can be caused by the user "SQLServer2014\Mubs"  and "mujb-HP\mujb"  haven't grant permission to the report server or the shared dataeource/dataset if you have used this.
I would like to confirm if you have assigned both the Item-Level and System-Level role of the user above to sucessfully access the report server, If you haven't grant any access to the above user and when you connect to the report server in the report builder,
you may got the error message:

I tried  debugging and assigning enhancement points in  FM  BAL_LOG_MSG_READ.. As it is standard function module its not suggestable to do..
can we creat custom FM ?? will it be called if we  write code to supress warning message??
Please let me know how to use  BADI'S  in order to supress the error message that appearing in query result?
    Thanks All.

    Hi,
The warning is raised due to the following reasons:
      - you have a selection in the filter of a navigation attribute
      - in your DSO you do not use the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation"
If the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is not flagged,
you may get char.values for an Infoobject in the system not
having any SIDs. As a result you may see in the report less data as
    expected.
For example we have Infoobject A with its Nav.attribute B
      Infoobject A   Nav.attribute B
      12             13   ->> has a SID in the X-table
      11             10
      9              13   ->> has no SID in the X-table
If you define a selection on B =13 in the query, you only get infoobject
A with key 12 displayed in the result, since only B =13 has a SID
    in the relevant X-table.
The warning refers to this behaviour and cannot be avoided unless you:
       - flag the option in the ODS-settings
       - or remove the filter defined on 0MATERIAL__xxxx
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • Saving query results to a flat file

    Hello Experts!
We have a very specific issue on our current project and I would like to know if any of you have ever done something similar. We are taking query results from BW (after complex calculations, some based on SY-DATE) and saving them to flat files to transfer to a SQL database structure on the Enterprise Portal. From here, the portal team renders the information into more "static" dashboards that include mouse over features and even limited drilldown (i.e. no matter where a user clicks the report always drills down on profit center)
There are many reasons why the model is set up as such (mostly training of executive level end users), and even though it doesn't mesh with the idea that BW could do this work on its own, we have to work with what we have.
We have come up with 3 possible ways to save this data to flat files and hopefully someone can tell us which might be the most effective.
1.) Information Broadcasting. If we broadcast XML files to the portal, will the portals team be able to read that data into a SQL database? Is there another way to use broadcasting to create and send a flat file to specific location?
2.) RSCRM_BAPI. This transaction seems to not support texts.
3.) Open Hub. In order to get the open hub to work, we first have to save all of our query results to direct write data store objects using APD. (calculations based on current date, for example, would require daily full loads to the underlying data providers otherwise.)
What is the best way to accomplish this? Is information broadcasting capable of doing this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Adam,
Do you have to use flat files to load the information to a SQL database? (if so maybe someone else has a suggestion on which way would be the best).
I try to stay away from flat file uploads as there is a lot of manual work involved. May I suggest setting up a connection to your SQL table in the DBCON table and then writing a small abap program to push data into the SQL database (which you can automate).
    1) Use APD to push data into a table within BW.
    2) Go to transaction SM30 > table DBCON and setup a new entry specifying the conncection parameters to your SQL database.
    3) In SE38 Write an ABAP program along the folloing lines (assuming the connection you set in DBCON is named conn1:
    data: con_name like dbcon-con_name
    con_name = 'conn1'.
    exec sql.
      set connection :con_name
    endexec.
****have a select statement which reads data from your table which the data is saved from the APD into an internal table**********
****loop on the internal table and have a SQL insert statement to insert the records into the SQL table as below******
    exec sql.
insert into <SQL TABLE> (column names seperated by ,)
values (column names of the internal table seperated by ,)  if the internal table is named itab the columns have to be specified as :itab-column1
If you decide to take this approach you may find more info on DBCON and the process in sdn. Good Luck!
    endexec.

  • Refresh characteristic texts in query result without logoff in Bex 7.0

    Dear Experts,
I'm using a query in BEx 7.0 and switched off all caching parameters in RSRT. For instantly reloading values from Cube/DSO this is working fine.
Some of my characteristics are shown as key + text in query result. Unfortulately these texts are not updated during the query reloads. I do not want the user to logoff / logon the report to get the updated texts.
Interestingly, after a refresh the texts for those characteristics are updated immediately for all filter items, but not in the result area.
Could you give me a hint, how I will be able to refresh those characteristic texts as same as the values in the infoprovider? E.g. using VBA makros or by customizing of specific workbook settings?
    Thanks for your help!
    Kind regards,

  • Filter a Query Based on the Output of Another Query

Is it possible to run a query based on the put put of another query? I have two queries. One query is based on GL Line items and shows the account assignemnt of postings where a customer has had a debt raised and it been credited to an account assignment e.g. Order, Cost Centre or Profit Centre. The other query is on an AR cube and that shows payment made. I want to bring these together to show the owners of the various account assignments to what extent customers have actually paid the debts that have been raised and credited to them. This I do as the source document of the CO doscument matches the allocation of the ar document. So I have a query that shows the CO journal and another query that shows payments. But I only want to show the payments in the second query for documents displayed in the first query (which can be restricted by period and fiscal year and the particular account assignment).

    Hi,
This can be acheived by usign a replacement path variable.
Create replacement pathe variables for those the filter values in the second report nneds tobe restricted from the first.
Then in the properties of the varioable say replce by query result and input the first query name in it.
Use these variables in teh filter section of the second report.
Make sure the characteristics for which you created the replacement path variables are in teh row section of the first Query.
Now on executing the second query you will have it filtered based on teh values of the first Query.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • Normalization of query result

    Hi BW Geeks.....
I created a report and my requirement was to get the ratio of  Employee1 salary to the Total salary. So in the properties of the Salary Key Fig I choose Calculate single value as Normalise to Query Result. It gave me percentage(ratio) of each salary to the total salary. But when I multiply Normalised keyfigure with a restricted kf ,..the ratio doesnt get muliplied instead the actual value gets multiplied.
    eg:----
    Salary   Normalised to Query result
    $5000      5000/8000 = 62.5%
    $3000      3000/8000 =37.5%
    Total---$8000
Now when I multiply this Normalised Query result with another restricted kf who has value say $1000 I get (5000) X  (1000)-= 5000000  which is wrong. I want to get (62.5%)X (1000)= $625.00.
Can ne body please tell me y its doing tht way....Please help me its urgent
    I will assign full points
    Nikhil

    Hi Nikhil,
The display option does not change the underlying value of the key figure, so when you are multiplying the mormalized value it will still use the underlying value in the calculation.
The other option to do this would be:
Create a new calculated key figure "salary" with a percentage function which is Percentage share of overall result. This key figure will display the data in %.
You can then use this calculated key figure in your subsequent calculated key figures.
Let me know if this helps.
    Cheers

  • How to ensure that the query results are fetched from the BW acclerator.

    Hi Experts,
Suppose if i want to execute the query with BIA option, I can achieve it in RSRT .
1)But is there some query settings or properties where we can make sure that whenever a query(say Q1) is executed, always the data should be fetched from the BIA index.
2)Suppose the BIA indexing has failed due  to some reasons, will the data be fetched from the previously updated BIA index??
    regards
    akshay

    Hi man,
1)But is there some query settings or properties where we can make sure that whenever a query(say Q1) is executed, always the data should be fetched from the BIA index.
If you have built up BIA index on a cube, then every query on the cube or MultiProvider will automatically use BIA index. No additional settings required. You can use the following way to test whether a query is using BIA or not:
Go to RSRT, input query name, click 'execute and debug' and check 'Display Statistics Data' and 'Do Not Use Cache'. Execute. After the query result press F3, now you should be able to see statistics. There's a tab 'BIA Access'. If you see something there then it means BIA index is used.
2)Suppose the BIA indexing has failed due to some reasons, will the data be fetched from the previously updated BIA index??
If BIA rollup is failed, then the last request(s) would not available in reporting and query will use BIA index for earlier requests. You can consider it like aggregate. But if initial fill of BIA failed then you would not be able to use BIA index.
