Reports Builder won't begin
We have installed 9i and the Developer Suite. All elements of the Developer Suite run fine such as JDeveloper, Forms, etc. However, Reports Builder will not run.
We get a message from the XP Professional operating system stating, "Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It invites you to send a report or not.
Is there some configuration element out of place?
Darn, I was hoping to find an answer here.
My problem is almost the same, I am not getting an error though, my Reports won't go past the splash screen, the process keeps running though....
I installed 10g instead of 9i, and I have no REPORTS_CLASSPATH environment variable to remove, so what could be my problem?

Reports Builder won't start (iDS 9.0.4 on RHEL 3.0)
I have just completed a fresh install of Developer Suite 9.0.4 on RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0. The Forms builder (f90desm) runs fine but the Reports builder (rwbuilder) gives the error below. This server also has Oracle 9i DB and the Forms and Reports install from Application Server 9.0.4 on it in seperate Oracle homes.

The exe starts fine and walks me through the setup screens.
Then it goes down the list of items that it needs to do and when it
gets to 'installing' it goes no further. I get 2 bars on the
progess meter and that's it. I would love to be able to use this

I am having a problem opening the report builder oracle 10g.My Form builder opens and works fine.When i click on report builder i get a pop-up window with following error message:
the application or dll c:\DEVSuiteHome\bin\rw90.dll is not a valid windows image.Please check this against your installation diskette.
What should I do to get my report builder working.Thanks!
I tried to reinstall 5-6 times , but to no avail.
I tried a different cd from my friend and installation had no problem .
My Oracle Forms and reports just works fine now.

Using html in cf report builder and escaping the & ampersand character
Some of the data we collect is entered via a WYSIWYG editor. Therefore formatting such as bold, italic etc is translated into HTML.
The text could also contain special characters/accented characters, again these are translated into their html equivalents.
In CF Report Builder, I have set the XHTML Text formatting to TRUE. However the report won't render the text in these boxes. From what I can see it doesn't like the '&' character (ampersand).
I have read elsewhere that report builder is limited in the characters etc that it can read and that I should translate the values. I ended up doing this in the database to try and save some time.

In webforms DDE runs on the middle tier; it might do what you want against your local OC4J now, but it surely won't open a thing when you run it against an application server.
Maybe you should enlighten us with your requirement, maybe there is a better solution for your problem.

I'm trying to make a report which won't b based on any table. I want to key in 2 figures as parameters & display all figures btwn the two parameters, say.
I have encounter two problems.
1. If i omit a select statement in the data model, then i'll have no group to use as my Source in the repeating frame properties and will get an error.
2. If i select from Dual in the data model and hence have a group to use as the source in the repeating frame properties, then only the final figure is displayed since selecting from dual only returns one figure.

Not sure why you would want to do this but you'll need to do something along the lines of: -
2 Page Items to take in your 2 Integers, 1 Page Item to hold result, a Submit button. A PL/SQL process to run on submit to do the following: -

SQL Server 2008 R2 - Report Builder 3.0 - timeout using shared data source and stored procedure
I select the shared datasource from the data source propeties dialog, test the connection and everything is good.
I add a dataset by selecting "use a dataset embedded in my report" option within the Dataset properties dialog.
I select the newly added data source, click the "Stored procedure" query type and drop down the list box and select my intended stored procedure.
the timeout for the dataset is "0" seconds.
I click the "OK" button and I'm presented with the parameters to the stored procedure.
I enter valid data for the parameters and click the "OK" button.
I then get the following error message after 30 seconds:
The problem is, all of the timeouts, that I'm aware of, have values of zero (no timeout) or high enough values that 30 seconds isn't even close to the timeout.
I think the smallest timeout we have is 120 seconds.
I have searched this site and many others and the solutions all involve altering the stored procedure to get the fields into report builder and then revert the stored procedure back to its original form.
To me, this is NOT a solution.
I have too many stored procedures that need to be brought into Report Builder.
I need a real solution.

Maybe I'm not being clear enough.
The stored procedure runs perfectly fine.
it runs perfectly fine in the production environment and the test environment.
I can access the stored procedure in several ways and have it return correct data.
I can even trick report builder into creating a dataset with parameters and run the stored procedure that way.
What I cannot do, is to get report builder to not timeout after 30 seconds on the initial creation of a dataset with a Query type of stored procedure.
I have seen this issues posted again and again and again on may different sites and the "solution" is to simplifiy the stored procedure by creating a stored procedure that has a create table and a select in the stored procedure and that's it. After
report builder creates the dataset the developer then has to replace the simplified stored procedure with the actual stored procedure and everything works fine after that.
HOWEVER, having to go through this process for 70 or more stored procedures is ridiculous.
It would appear that there is something within report builder itself that is causing this issue.
The SQL Script included is an example of a stored procedure that will not create fields create a dataset with fields and parameters in Report Builder 3.0:

ApplicationIntent and Report Builder
I have a SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn AG setup including the read-only intent for a secondary. I setup a data source to point to the Listener with the data source type of Microsoft SQL Server entry to include ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly. The Test connection was
successful. When I created a new report and added a dataset using that datasource and asks for data source credentials, I specify use the current windows user. I get the error "Unable to connect to data source" with Details - "Keynword not supported:
'applicationintent'.
I see that there was a fix for .NET but that seems to apply to XP and 2008R2.
What wrong?
I should also mention that I am using Report Builder 3.0 that I had used for 2008 R2 reports. I see that there seems to be a 2012 Report Builder version (I can't find where the version of Report Builder is indicated?). Is that the problem? Can this version
be used for 2008 R2 reports - backward compatible?I am running the 2012 version of Report Builder 3.0. My build is 11.0.2100.60 (installed several months ago). You can find this by opening the filesystem location where MSReportBuilder.exe resides, right-click MSReportBuilder.exe, choose properties, Select
Details. The File and Product versions are there.
I don't have a similar SQL server setup to test against so I can't answer the initial question but it won't hurt to install the latest report builder anyway. Then try it again and see what happens. Good luck.

Hello,
I have 11g on my laptop running windows 7 64 bit.
I need to be familiar with the report builder real quick.
I cannot find the software to download for report builder for 11g for windows 64 bit.
Can anybody help........Forms 11.1.2.1 is the right version to use. Have you followed installation steps similar to the below? If you don't install WebLogic, Forms/Reports won't work.
Steps to install:
1.) Install Supported JDK: 1.6.0_35+ or 1.7.0_07+
2.) Install WebLogic 10.3.6
3.) Install Forms/Reports Home
4.) Configure Forms/Reports builders and weblogic domain
5.) Open reports builder.

Report Builder 3.0 Expression i am not able to make it work on Oracle DB Table

I am newbie to SSRS Report Builder 3.0 so please be patient with me. I am trying to create a report to query Remedy Ticketing System and it uses Oracle Database installed on a Unix OS...My end objective is to do some calculation on the ticket metrics (i.e.
percentage of tickets closed within SLA, etc) however i am stuck from the very beginning where i am not able to make my expression work...

Basically Ticket_Status has values from 0 to 4 although from the screenshot above you only see 2 and 4...
Ticket_Status 0 - Means Open Ticket
Ticket_Status 1 - Means Work In Progress Ticket

Ticket_Status 3 - Means Awaiting Closure Ticket
Ticket_Status 4 - Means Closed Ticket
I created a chart column using the expression below but it did not work...what i mean by it does not work is that the chart column output shows all Ticket_Status total count including 0, 1, 2, 3, & 4 (i.e. total count of tickets are 206)...using

Per my understanding that you can't get the expect result by using the expression "=Count(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4) " to count the the TICKET_STATUS which value is 4, the result will returns the count of all the TICKET_STATUS values(206)
but not 180, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:
=COUNT(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4 ,1,Nothing))
or
=SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))

Can't save a report file in the Reports Builder
dev environment : w2k, Oracle92iDS(rel 2) and patch set 9.0.2.2.0
Problem description :
Saving a report corrupts the report file(jsp, rdf) in the reports builder, when a report has the bind variable used in the functions.
I can execute the report well, if I don't try to save .
The moment the file is saved and the report can never be reopened and run.
Please note it works fine when there is no bind variabled used in the function. Here are the steps to reproduce.
Can someone verify this, if so is there an workaround for this problem on the Reports Builder?

Downloaded WAV file from internet in a ZIP. Unzipped it. Played it in iTunes. Quit iTunes. Right clicked the file and chose Open With and Adobe Audition CC. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've opened Audition on this computer, since I just recenly upgraded from an older MacBook. Edited the WAV, had the issue. Read the forums, closed and was prompted to save. Saved and then it finished closing. Right clicked on the file again and chose Open With and Adobe Audition CC. Now the file gave me the option to Save or Save As depending on how much further I edited the file, which was just cutting out more of the track. The razor tool, though, still not available. Had to put the cursor where I wanted, then used the Shift and Home buttons to select the beginning part of the track and the Delete key to remove it. -
Hiding empty columns in report builder
Hi,
This is my first adventure with report builder and I have
managed to produce some custom labels which work almost perfectly.
I say almost because there is one thing I can't seem to do.
I have a label for addresses. The address data consists of
data from a query including, name,
address1,address2,address3,town,county,postcode.
Some of these are quite often empty but the label still
displays a line break and the ',' at the end so I might end up
with:
Dave Phipps
27 Acacia Road,
MyTown,
MT1 4JP
In the above address the fields address2, address3 and county
are empty.
How do I set this up in Report Builder to hide the missing
lines so that I would end up with:
