Reports Demo

I have Oracle Infrastructure and 9iAS on a Solaris machine. The actual database is on a windows 2000 machine. I am trying to run the Report demonstrations. I get an unable to connect to the specified database error. I assume I need to change the tnsnames.ora file to point to the windows machine.
Which tnsnames.ora file, the one under Infrastructure or the one under 9iAS?
Also, what do I add to this file?
Do I need a NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN in sqlnet.ora or not?

Which tnsnames.ora file, the one under Infrastructure or the one under 9iAS?Just to add to what Vinod has already pointed out, if the error is because the Reports Server is not able to connect to the database, then you need to change the mid-tier tnsnames.ora, not the infrastructure file. Among other things, Oracle9iAS Infrastructure consists of Single Sign-on Server, Oracle Internet Directory and the metadata repository. These services are used by Oracle9iAS mid-tier installation. The Oracle9iAS mid-tier installation consists of your Forms and Reports Services (among other components). So the Reports Server uses your mid-tier tnsnames.ora file.

How to run Reports demos?

I finally got everything installed and I'm trying to run the Reports demos off of the mid-tier web site. when I click on the jsp report demo it brings up the parameter page. I just use the defaults and click the run button. when I do that it asks me for a SSO login/password. what do I use here? I've looked over all the docs I can think of without finding anything.

How to Run Reports Demo on IAS Rel.2

I have successfully installed 9ias Release 2, infrastructure and Business Intelligence and Forms on one Solaris server. I am now trying to run the demos. Forms demo runs fine, but the Reports Demo is confusing. I am presented with a screen that says test a paper report. That takes me to another page with fields to fill in - things like reports server, userid/password, report name.....I leave all the defaults as is, and am then presented with a single sign on page. I don't know what to put in there....
Any help would be appreciated.

The "new" Reports (Oracle9i Reports or Reports 9i or whatever it is supposed to be called) seems to use a security model quite different from Developer Server/Reports 6i. At least as per default configuration. I'm not familiar with it (yet, but since we are in the process of migrating I'd guess I soon will be), but Reports seems to use/rely on Portal for user authentication mechanism.
In the Reports servlet configuration you could set SINGLESIGNON=no, then Reports Server will use its own authentication "old-style". (Two-level authentication was possible by adding "dbauth" login for reports access)

According to "OEM integration" features, you should be able to configure Reports server via the OEM "framework".

XML Publisher Enterprise 5.6.2 - World Sales report (DEMO)

Hello All;
Does anybody have problem displaying "World Sales" report as HTML output under Sales Manager folder?
The demo is provided when downloading and installing XMLP server.
"World Sales" report uses an XML feed from a URL which I configure per the instruction in the document. I could get the report output in PDF with images but NOT in HTML or RTF as output.
Any solution or idea how to resolve it?

How did get World Sales report work? What did you put on URL? I put:
http://Sever name:15101/xmlpserver/Sales Manager/World Sales/WorldSales.xml
It always showed error message to me.

Problem with Drill down reports demo

Hi,
Did somebody successfully installed the
drill down demo. I am not able to get the results here getting some javascript error
"object expected".
I have created a schema,
also the cgicmd.dat report variables
attahced the rep_util file.
I could see the invoices report and the product link displays
javascript:opendetailwin('http:/myserver/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?item+101863')
when i clik on the above link i get object expected error.
The Javascript on view source page looks like this

any help will be higly appreciated. Also is there any other way of implementing drill down reports on web.

Hello,
Try making your hyperlink in the master report look like this:
http://webserver/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?detail+p_contactid=&<contact_id1>
The &<column_name> reference in a hyperlink will tell Reports to substitute the current value of that column in the resultant string.

Unable to run reports demo pages

Oracle 9iAS rel2 ( 9.0.2.0.1)
Sun Solaris
When I bring up the http://myserver.x.com:7779 and go to the demo pages for business intelligence and forms and then to report services. click on jsp or the web paper report, enter a valid connect string. I then get a REP-501 Unable to connect to the specified database.
I checked the connection by tnsping and sqlplus on myserver.
If I connect with scott/tiger@discodemo (the discovery database) then I'll get a REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
Any ideas?

Hi Roger - try editing your MDC\tomcat\conf\catalina.properties file and add the following line at the end:
org.apache.jasper.compiler.Parser.STRICT_QUOTE_ESCAPING=false
This tells Tomcat to be flexible with double and single quoting in the CW code and allowed me to run the reports, though I'm still not getting the data I'd expect that's probably another issue.

Actually you don't need to see that viewlet. Just follow the easy follow-by steps in Metalink Note 240819.1 "How to Generate Excel output in browser using Reports9i JSP". This is faster done than watching the viewlet! You can use it for 9i and as well for 10g.
Please note the reference to note 271590.1 in the end of the document. Without that it won't work on 10g.

hello,
since you did not state, which platform you are on i can only guess. there were some issues with SSO
on solaris and other unix platforms. check out the release notes. a solution should be available there.

SAP BO 4.1 Webi report sample with prompts to try Restful api

I was not able to find, in the report demo samples available in the SAP BO 4.1 installation, a Webi report with prompts.
I found many Webi reports samples but all are without prompts.
I need at least one Webi report sample with prompts to try the Restful API http://localhost:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/7090/parameters and http://localhost:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/7090/schedules with parameters body.
Where can I found such webi sample?

As you have BI 4.1 installed, you could design a sample webi report using Webi Rich Client tool.
Open Webi rich client, select the sample eFashion universe drag few objects in the query and a filter. Set the filter as a prompt and save the report to Enterprise.
Now you could now use this sample report for your handson on REST SDK.

Maybe this should go in the Reports forum, but alas...
It could be that the X application (i.e. reports server) cannot connect or use the X-server's display. Did you apply the 'xhost +' command to allow reports server to use the display (set by DISPLAY variable)? This shoud all be in the "runtime environment" of the server.

See if this entry works for you:
Rep60_REPORT-SVR.world =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = REPORT-SVR)(PORT=1950))
It does need to be on one line and it's a known issue that setting it up via the Easy Config doesn't work.

Installing Reports 6i on win2000

We are having difficulty installing Reports 6i, the report server and the demo reports. There seems to be an issue with using different oracle homes for reports, report server and report demo. Using the installer and installing report demo after report developer and report server we get a message asking for items that belong to the report developer to be installed in the demo home. This seems odd that the installer would expect to find report dev items in the demo home.
Is there a white paper available that describes the steps to install report dev, report server and demo reports on windows 2000.

Try this, it may help...
1. Shut down the DB, and make sure it won't automatically restart.
2. Right click on my computer, go to manage.
3. in manage, expand the services 'menu' (on right window).
4. Press on services. That should bring up a list of all the services, running or
not. Scroll down till you find the Oracle services, Highlight them and press stop.
(You can also check the services from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services)
Run regedit (Start > Run > Enter "regedit", click "Ok"), find and check the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\ORACLE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SYSTEM
\CurrentControlSet
\Services
\EventLog
\Application
\Oracle.oracle
Also check in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
5. If that doesn't work, then try to find a different solution

I have downloaded SAP Crystal Report demo 30 days and we have an IDES for "EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0", how can I make some reports and train myself with crystal report?
I don't understand how to make the connection to our SAP DB, can you help me?

Ok solved.
- I assure where is the saplogon.ini (in my case: %appdata%\SAP\Common\saplogon.ini)
- I open the saplogon.ini with notepad and set the UTF format and than save it replacing the original one if it was not in UTF format
- I go to : control panel>system>advanced>environment variables>system variables and I create a new one with name "SAPLOGON_INI_FILE" and path "C:\Users\....\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common\saplogon.ini";
- Open SAP Crystal Reports 2013 (in my case) > VIEW > Preferred Viewing Locale > (here I set the language of the SAP System I am going to log on with crystal report, in my case was in english so I set English)
- (within SAP Crystal Reports 2013) > FILE > Log On or Off Server... > Create New Connection > SAP Table, Cluster, or Function > (now it shows me all the different SAP Systems that are also in the SAP GUI Logon, choose one, set the client-username-password and then finish)
